philadelphia. and we are shooting for 93. shouldn't have had a hard time hit that today. at minimum expect to go hit 09 degrees, that will extends this heatwave by yet another day. this will make it day seven officially, if you are counting anyway, and it does look as though we will keep the trends going for one more day, but there is an end in site to the worse of the heat. >> sounds good thanks so much katie. good morning everyone, just joining us welcome. so activity on the roadways, let's get right to t we have overturned vehicle, the right lanas you can see is block this is 95, northbound, between highland avenue and 322, approaching the commodore barry bridge, now what's happening here, is the far right two lanes are blocked so everyone's put putting on their brakes, almost like a parking lot, once you get around the accident then it clears up. but behind this, let me just show you what's going on here, here is a look at 95 northbound around 452 and i can tell you right now usually around this same time it is no problem. this does not look anything like this.

news". >> thank you other news this morning, some south philadelphia resident are waking to up find their tires slashed 1,000 block of ellsworth and the 800 block every south broad street. police tell "eyewitness news" their 29 year old suspect is in custody. >> police also looking for two men who broke into a home in south philadelphia. the home invasion happened just before 1:00 this morning 1500 block of marshall street. investigators found at least one victim tied up inside the home no one was hurt. >> police officer and several bystanders were injured when an out of control car runs up on the sidewalk in jersey city speed being driver hit a car under the sidewalk into 12 people. chain reaction crash happened after 8:00, the driver tried to leave the scene but was

good morning and another sizzling start to the work week. beautiful shot here down the shore. temperatures right now in the 70s, but we're not getting any relief from the heat later on today. katie, looking at this stretch of seven days last week, thinking man, this is heatwave that never ends, it seems to keep ongoing today. >> absolutely, and it is going to keep ongoing we think through tomorrow. and then finally start to wayne away here. air quote cool down later. >> exactly, cool down back to the 80s back to reality really. but you know, we've definitely seen longer stretches of this kind of heat before.

actually going to start things off by taking you back in time, little history lesson, boo out fullback grounds shot for you here, but showing you here the top three heatwaves in terms of shear lent. so one lasted 17 days, can you imagine more than half month of 90 degrees or above? that happened back in 1995. with relatively similar time to go what we're finding right now, 13, was number two, 13 days back in 1953, that one was little later in the season leading up toward about labor day then 12 days, makes for number three of the top three longest heatwaves we've ever reported here in philadelphia, since records began, that happening back in 1999. so you know there is one is expected forecasting it to be l eight day heatwave. now on day seven. storm scan3 at the moment, quiet as can be. we do have a frontal boundary however, that is set to cross. that's going to help pick up the humidity level for you. already starting to happen as we speak. currently at 73 in philadelphia. little cooler around the outlying suburbs at the moment, feeling pretty goody

"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us in the satellite center with the new details, good morning. >> good morning zimbabwe wildlife authorities have also banned bo hunting. they have also suspended the hunting of lions leopards, and elephants. this after you mention the second american comes under investigation for an illegal hunt. this american is a doctor from the pittsburgh area. yet another american facing harsh criticism today for allegedly killing a lion in an illegal hunt. doctor jan seski now under investigation.

here he is seen in pictures found on line, posing with number of dead animals including a zebra elephant and hippo. seski lives in murrays ville pennsylvania, east of pittsburgh. gynocological oncologist, who has two private offices in pittsburgh. zimbabwe national park, says he killed a lion with a bo and arrow. that's the same park where cecil the lion lived. cecil was found dead last month sparking international outrage at minneapolis area dentist walter palmer. accused of illegally killing the animal outside the park. in seski's case the owner of the safari company has been arrested, officials say he was operating without a permit and is now assisting in the investigation. >> our law enforcement office remembers looking into the matter so we can really understanded what transpired. >> this new investigation is part of an industry wide crackdown following the death of cecil the lion. his coalition partner jericho

>> wright tornado caught on camera yesterday, as it moves through a fields southwest of des moines. you can see cloud of dust and debris at the base that far twit twister as it makes its way across the landscape. some winds hail damage, but the good news here, no one was hurt. also, a powerful storm in suburban chicago cow cents a tent to collapse killing a 35 year old man. fifteen other were taken to the hospital. clams happened in wooddale yesterday afternoon. witnesses say there was strong hail lightning, right before the tent got blown away, then came crashing back down. no storms for our forecast but some sizzling temperatures, chance of rain you think? >> yes, i think we have a shot for shower or thunderstorm later today but not initially here erika. we can at least expect to start off with quiet weather for your morning drive certainly, some sunshine to go along with it, checking in with the weather watchers, almost sort of just going right down the i95 corridor, with a lot of the values. 65 degrees came into us from peter, he has full sunshine,

lawrenceville, than just went last couple every minutes here. 68 degrees, came in to us from phil, he too under full sunshine north wales. he is at 68 degrees, nice start to the day he said, right now the humidity still isn't too too bad. we're in at 69 degrees from fran, he is out in nottingham, again under full sunshine right now reporting 73% humidity so yes i mean, little bit of humidity but not terrible at this point. let's take a look though at the heat. when we talk about the extreme of, you know, how this heat can ellie affect you, doctor rob onset now, will be up to talk about it little more what this can mean as far as your exercising goes, and with the heat, trying to deal with that, keep in mind, though, you actually is more heat related not just ill know cents but also, death because of how extreme that heat can be. so it beats out lightning it beats out flood, tornado and hurricane deaths, just because more than anything it is one of those things we take for granted. so be smart about it. today we are expect to go hit the low and mid 90s easily

saturday. brown died last month at the age of 22, nearly six months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub. >> as we age we all know how important it is to protect bones and joints, but how much after role does staying active play in building strong and healthy muscles? from your posture, to your energy levels, really does make a difference. family physician doctor rob dan off joins us to talk more about muscle health. doctor rob always great to see you. >> good to be here. >> new study recently looked at physical inactivity how it affect our muscles (it is so important to stay active. what does the study finds? >> the journal of rehabilitation look at people who were active. who some may have become inactive for two weeks. so looked at guys, guys who he can err size, good muscles young guys lost about 30% of their muscle strength, if they were inactive for two weeks. >> okay? >> they could have taken vacation, maybe had cast on their leg, it was equivalent to them being about 65 years

or 70 years of age. that's how much muscle strength and mass they lost. now, our senior citizens at their inactive for couple of weeks say they're ill or break a bone wear a cast. they lose about 25% of their muscle strength and as we get older it is important to maintain muscle strength for health. >> naturally. what are the benefits every strengthening those muscles not just doing the cardio, strengthening the muscles? >> so right. andorrans, activity daily living, whether it is climbing stairs, lifting our kids, doing gardening, we feel better. also our clothes will fit bert. muscles tone, you know, you work out. you know? we burn more calories f we have more muscles, we burn more calories at rest. wouldn't you like to burn calories just sitting smear. >> i would love. that will. >> we do that also, we feel more energized and we have just stronger muscles, and better balance less chance of falling. so it is real important. here is the side benefit. stronger muscles and more in shape muscles have good benefit consideration decrease blood sugar, so diabetic, have strong muscles and exercise.

that will help you better control your blood sugar. it will decrease your body fat. overall great benefit for us. >> win-win. sometimes when working out trainer or somebody, you know, push yourself being downing more, and your muscles may start to shake when you are working out. can you over work the muscle? can you over stress it? >> yes, that's good point. you know start to feel the shaking or your muscle starting to hurt some people say no pain no gain. no no pain, then you are out for awhile. if you have the pain. so if you are starting to feel pain, then back off that. make sure you stretch properly. do the activity and practice it prior to. that will because you don't want to work through that barrier, if not you will hurt yourself. >> right. summer months i feel like somehow we cramp up a little bit more during the summer month when working out outside specially. >> yes. >> do you have anyways to avoid that? is that even true or just something we made up? >> it is true. if kate coy lower the temperature and humidity we wouldn't have as much muscle cramp. come on, katie. when it gets real hot humid we work outside we exercise, our muscles, we sweat a lot.
