the good news we can report tonight all 138 people on board are safe. they are on another plane right now headed to seattle. we want to show you some video of the plane that landed. it was an american airlines flight we're toll it's american airlines flight 669. now we're told that it landed after having some engine trouble about nip 20:00 this evening shortly after taking off to seattle. we don't know exactly what kind of engine trouble originally there were some calls to 911 saying that there was some concern about some smoke or some flames but nobody from the faa or american airlines has been able to confirm that now. we know 133 passengers five crew members are on their way right now to seattle clearly a scary story but they landed immediately. that plane is being investigated right now as we speak by the faa. we are live at philadelphia international airport, david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> glad everyone is all right. dave, thank you. torments night a neighbor is on

edge as police continue their search for two gunmen who shot a local bakery owner in front of her own store. our natasha brown is live in over book park with the latest on this investigation. natasha? >> reporter: well, jessica crime seen unit investigators they just left the scene a authority short time ago. they were looking for any evidence that will lead them to two suspects who apparently targeted a bakery store own are in this morning. it was supposed to be a morning like any other for the owner of the best cake kosher bakery on haverford avenue. but when the 56-year-old woman opened the store at 6am police say two robbery suspects were waiting for her at back door. >> they saw her inside and we think she may have reached for baseball bat she has in there and the males appeared to have come through the screen door by pushing it open. as confrontation inside. and while inside it appears was shot one time. >> reporter: victim gasping for air aft being shot in the neck managed to call 911 vaguely

described her two attackers. police say they stole the victim's apron which held about $300 before leaving the scene. >> someone clearly knew her routine. they know the business. they know the business hours. they know what time she comes in. >> heartbreaking because this is a good area. um in and out cops -- police officers always driving through. we don't have this. it's shocking to me. >> reporter: terry gains work in building nearby and frequents the bakery. >> i probably would have been in there this morning getting doughnuts. um i go in there every other wednesday morning. every thursday and friday because i work at think locate thursday and fridays. but every week. she's a very kind lady. >> reporter: jerome height is a former bakery store employee still shocked by the incident. >> she's a nice lady, you know she give everybody a hasn't. she gave me work before report roar police are scowering the area looking for surveillance video that may lead them to the suspects. meantime detectives say the bakery was robbed back in january and just last week there was reportedly an attempted

robbery as well. the victim does remain in critical condition at penn presbyterian hospital. police are anyone anyone who may have been this area around 6:00 o'clock this morning or any witnesses to please come forward. we're live in overbrook park tonight, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> thank you. colorado movie theater shooter james holmes will spend the rest of his life in prison without parole. nine women and three men on the jury could into the reach a ethan muss situation required to sentence holmes to death. he showed no emotion in court as he learn his fate. the same jury convicted holmes last month of murdering 12 people and wounding 70 others at a movie theater in aurora colorado in july of 2012. pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane will turn herself in tomorrow during to the montgomery county district's office. the state's top prosecutor was indicted yesterday. kane will be arraigned via video conference by a judge in college collegeville. she faces conspiracy and perjury

charges for allegedly leaking secret grand jury information and then lying about it under oath. an attorney for kane says she's innocent and plans to plead not guilty. pennsylvania governor tom wolf has called on kane to resign. former philadelphia eagle friar has been found guilty of conspiracy and theft by deception. friar's mother 74-year-old elaine magee was also found guilty today in mt. holly. friar and his mother stole more than $1.2 million from several banks in a mortgage fraud scheme. sentencing is in october and they could face up to 10 years in prison. after a cloudy start the sunshine today made for perfect end to the work week. the question now can we keep the beautiful weather going for the weekend? meteorologist kate bilo live on the cbs3 sky deck with her first look at your forecast. kate. >> jess cash it continues to be a beautiful friday night. i'm out here on the sky deck and it's just that perfect temperature it's not too cool that you need a jack, but certainly not too warm that you start to sweat sitting outside.

it is perfection and the good news is, we are going to keep the nice weather around right through the weekend. let's take a quick look at storm scan3. we had a few showers and clouds this morning mainly south and east of philadelphia down the shore and into portions of southern delaware but as you can see, that has all push off to the south and even in those spots rehoboth beach bethenny beach the there's got rain earlier today the clouds are diminishing as we go through the rest of tonight and you've got really nice weekend even far south of philadelphia. certainly in the city today turn out to be a bonus beautiful day as the clouds cleared very early. we had a lot of sunshine but that cool northeast breeze has been keeping things comfortable and we're sitting at 74 at the airport right now. a cool 64 in atlantic city right now. and a chilly 56 right now in mount pocono only 68 cape may. and 72 in stone harbor so how does your saturday morning look running out maybe on bagel or donut run 7am75 degrees. not bad at all. then by 11am we're up to 80. it's warm and sunny and even though today wasn't a great day

down the shore your weekend shore cast looks impeccable with temperatures near 80 both saturday and sunday. just a few clouds here and there there. at least to start off your saturday all in all it will be great. in the city looking fantastic as well. i'll have the seven day forecast coming up when i join you inside inside. >> kate, thanks so much. new developments to night in the papal visit. the united states secret service says it will not be screening visitors who are planning to cross the ben franklin bridge that weekend in september. the bridge will be shut down to vehicular traffic during pope francis' visit but it will remain open to pedestrians. officials say visitors will see a police presence on the bridge. and during his visit pope francis will speak outside independence hall and in front of him he'll have a piece of history. the holy father will stand at the same lectern abraham lincoln used to deliver the gettysburg address. lectern is currently on display at the union league of philadelphia. >> this is a transform ma tiff pope. when he speaks people listen.

he was lost in the woods for three days. 61 year old james wharton left a barbecue on sharp avenue monday night. he decided to cut through the woods to get back to his house on reading avenue. police began searching for him after he called 911 tuesday morning to say he was lost. but then his phone died. last night four friends who join the search stopped their atv' near williamstown road and they heard wharton calling for help. >> said his name. he said he's been walking in circles like oh my god this is the guy. >> me and my friend nick had to carry him out and then the two girls christina and brittany were pushing the briars and the sticker bushes away so we can carry him out. >> they did grab a photo of wharton enjoying a soda as he ran on their atv where police were station. doctors are now treating him for severe dehydration. >> in the wake of the deadly amtrak derailment in philadelphia a new report shows only a handful of railroads are close to meeting this 84's deadline to install potentially live-saving technology much experts say positive train

video how the day turn out in rehoboth beach completely different than it did in philadelphia look at the boardwalk all wet earlier today. they that steady showers come 32. some clouds and then it did clear out by evening. pretty decent sunset here and now there's folks out on the boardwalk tonight. not too bad after all now shot showers and storms have moved on out. kind of a shore spoiler today clouds and showers early now those clouds have moved away and you can see even in southern delaware even in south jersey the clouds are really starting to thin out you'll have lot of sunshine to look forward to this weekend. it's cool and comfortable otherwise 74 at the airport. 67 in millville. and in lancaster right now. 71 if you're in reading and the dew points are in the 50s. that's very comfortable. not a lot of humidity out there tonight. and humidity really won't be an issue this weekend either. temperatures topping out right about where they should for early to mid august right in the mid 80s. so mostly sunny with high pressure overhead tomorrow really nice saturday. maybe a few clouds in the morning down the shore but all in all great day. sunday a few clouds filtering in

the afternoon another great one and then monday bring us ain't increased chance for a thunderstorm. during the overnight hours tonight we've got clear skies and comfortable conditions. we'll drop to 66 in the city. we can have upper 50s scatter the through out the suburbs a nice night to maybe leave the window crack a nice breeze out there. everybody has been talking about the breeze tonight that northeast wind so if you're in the city at penn's landing as we talked about earlier for the smooth jazz you felt that wind coming in off the water. you feel it coming in off the owing as well. marine influence out there with that cool breeze. for your saturday, mostly sunny it's beauty. just a stunner of a day. again that northeast breeze at 10 miles per hour not a bad day outside. one thing to mention that storm that moved offshore it's chunk up water a little bit. the rip current risk down the shore for tonight and tomorrow is moderate. you don't wanting to swimming if you're not a strong swimmers if the lifeguards are not out watching you. clouds give way to sun at fine degrees. sunday down the shore looks better. rip current risk diminishes a bit still have that cool breeze.
