probably coming in later in the day sunday, gives you idea what's coming our way, and that's some stormy weather rolling in early next week. we will talk about that, and we will time it out for you hour by hour, so you can make your plans as you get into the week. but i'm staying this about the weekends, todd, and it is nice. >> kyla, thank you very much. new this morning, police are investigating a fatal stabbing in mayfair overnight. it happened just before 3:00 a.m. in the 7300 block of revere street. a 21 year old man was stabbed in the chest. no word on who is responsible. >> and police in montgomery country investigating the stab being of a woman in norristown. it happened just before 1:30 this morning, on the 600 block of west lafayette street. a woman was stabbed several times, and no word on the suspect. however, police say, they don't believe the victim doesn't know her attacker. it also new this morning, fire crews are investigating the cause after overnight fire in west chester.

it happened in the 100 block of west union street, just before 1:30 this morning. three recent college graduates live in that house, but luckily, no one was home at the time. a neighbor who lives in that building described for us what happened. >> i was upstairs watching it. v, bank the door, opened it, just ran out in the street. philadelphia i figured out what was going on, you know, i wasn't going to stick around. >> luckily, no one there was injured. >> scary few moment in the sky for passengers aboard an american airlines flight last night, just off crews declared emergency. take a look at this video, from passenger aboard that flight who saw sparks flying from the engine. american airlines officials say some fuel burned off as the plane took off. officials stress that this isn't uncommon, and that no part of that plane was ever on fire. the airbus landed safely without incident. the 133 passengers on board

were put on another flight. >> kathleen kane will turn herself in today, according to the montgomery county district attorney's offers, state top prosecutors indicted thursday. will be arraigned via video conference, she faces conspiracy and perjury charges for allegedly leaking secret grand jury information, and then lying about it under oath. an attorney for kane said she is innocent and plans to plead not guilty. pennsylvania governor tom wolf has called on kane, though, to resign. >> former philadelphia eagle irving fryar has been found guilty of conspiracy and theft by deception. friar's mom, 74 year old eileen magee, also found guilty in mt. holly. friar and his mother stole more than $1.2 million from several banks and mortgage fraud scheme. sentencing is in october and they could face up to ten years in prison. >> gunman james holmes has

been spared the death penalty and will spend the rest of his life in prison for the colorado movie theater massacre. a jury deliberated for six and a half hours but could not come to unanimous agreement on death sentence. the verdict comes nearly four months after the trial began. terry okita has the details from los angeles. >> james holmes shows no emotion as he learned his fate for might g -- committing one of the worse mass shootings in us history. >> the court will impose life in prisonment without the possibility of parole. >> juror 17 said they could not reach unanimous verdict on the death penalty. >> what we split was one juror solidly in favor of life sentence, two that were undecided. and the rest were in favor of the death penalty. >> same jury convicted holmes last month of murdering 12 people, and wounding 70 others at our or a movie theatre in july 2012. holmes sentence bridges to ends a 15 week trial that began in april.

all of this out. syma? >> reporter: good morning, todd, the world meeting of families event is about six weeks away, and mayor nutter expects about 1.5 million visitors on top of the one and a half million residents, so needless to say, a lot of people here are waiting to get more information when it comes to security measures. in the 20 plus years of the world meeting of families, philadelphia could set itself apart as the largest in the history of the world meeting of families. >> we are starting to get better idea what officials have in store for philadelphians and visitors during the papal visit next month. the secret service announced yesterday, there will be no security checkpoints for pedestrians who are crossing over the ben franklin bridge. earlier this week, it was announced that major roadways, and bridges, will be closed to traffic, starting friday, september 25th, and until monday the 28th. we now know, there will be some closures on i76, 676, and

route one. ninety-five will be open, but some ramps will be closed. there will be three lanes on the ben franklin bridge open to pedestrian traffic. the other four will be reserved for emergency vehicles. mayor nutter also announced what is being called a traffic box, for part of center city and west philly starting friday the 25th. that means, vehicles can leave the box, but won't be allowed back in. >> spring guard tone ridge, ridge to girard, girard to the schuylkill river. the southern boundary: south street, river to river. the east boundery: delaware avenue from south street to spring garden street. from the western boundary runs along the edge of the schuylkill river cuts up kim i drive stopping just below the girard avenue bridge. >> reporter: and the next security information we're awaiting for involves a list of prohibited item, within the safety zone. not sure he can actually when that list will be released.

we're live near the ben franklin bridge, syma chowdhry, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". syma, thank you very much. a top ranking democrat in the senate says he plans to vote against president obama's nuclear deal with iran. the details from capitol hill. >> reporter: new york senator chuck schumer says he'll vote against the iran deal when congress takes up the issue in september. schumer issued a three-page statement saying in part: there are serious weaknesses in the agreement. it would allow iran after ten to 15 years to be a nuclear threshold state with the blessing of the world community. during a senate hearing wednesday on the deal, schumer called this the most important vote of his political career. and said he wouldn't be swayed by the intense lobbying effort from the white house. >> i won't let party, pressure, politics interfere with doing what i think is right. >> reporter: schumer is the first senate democrat to publicly break from the white house. that could give others the green light to follow his

lead. the president has promised a presidential veto if congress rejects the deal, and at this point republicans don't have enough democrats in their corner to override that veto. >> we will be able to mobilize substantial majority of democrats in both the house and the senate in support of the deal and if necessary to sustain the president's veto. >> the top two democrats on the house foreign affairs committee have now said they too will oppose the deal. new york canning man, elliot angle, announced his opposition thursday, and brad sherman of california joined him friday morning. cbs news, capitol hill. and now onto campaign 2016. the republican presidential candidates first debate set a ratings record, some 24 million people watch front runner donald trump rivals in cleveland thursday night, making it the most watched cable news program ever. trump is coming under fire by some, after defending derogatory comments he made

about comedian rosey o'donnell, and other women. political observers though say it is just too early to say if the controversy will hurt him in the polls. it has been tricky measuring the weather patterns in the summer of trump. so far when he said things that party strategists have thought would hurt him, he had gone up in the polls. and last night he was confrontational, and behaving basically in a way no successful candidate ever has. but some people finds that appealing. >> well, trump called the debate questions unfair and called the moderators unprofessional. okay, well, lost in the woods for days. a new jersey man makes it out alive. coming up next "eyewitness news" who came to his rescue and how he was able to survive. and, would you ride this monster coaster? oh, man, we'll tell you when it is coming to the jersey shore when we come right back.

57 degrees, and looking forward to a nice day. and i tell you what, i think we can all look forward to nice day. in fact, let's look at the rooftop camera. look at this. boy oh, boy that's gorgeous, philadelphia, that's center city, looking south, right off of our cbs studio rooftop. and the sun is coming out. it is just going to be beautiful day today. not just in center city, but of course as we look all around the region, taking live look here, kutztown, about 55 degrees here. you can see the wind is nice and calm. that gorgeous sun, starting to peak up, and we will see some blue skies coming our way very shortly everybody. so it will be a gorgeous day out there. and i think we should -- i'll get out and enjoy it if i k see, nice and clear in philadelphia, little action to the south off shore there in the delmarva. not much to speak of. we see the low pressure start to move off shore, as we went through the saturday night, it will be looking good, into our sunday, but you see there is another low pressure system that's off to the north and west. as you get into monday afternoon, into the evening, that's when this next line of

showers is going to be approaching us. so i think it won't be until later, and monday into our tuesday, we start to see comings, will finally make its way toward philadelphia and our areas at the coast. but, right now, it is a gorgeous day. we don't have to worry about that yet. beautiful, in philadelphia, 70 degrees, 59 in millville, about 65 down in dover. fifty-nine in allentown, mount pocono, coming in, just at 50 degrees. if you're headed down to the shore right now, wind relatively calm. see it pick up little bit later today. seventy there, barnegat light. 64 degrees in stone harbor, stone harbor coming in about 63 degrees. shore forecast, i know a loft you probably headed out there today. 79 degrees for high what we are expecting. uv index about seven. do keep eye out there. the rip countries social security moderate. plus the winds could pick up little bit as you can see gusts up to about 20 miles per hour as we get through the afternoonment same story for our sunday, gorgeous sunshine, 08 degrees, what more do you want everybody? water temperature also, not bad, about 70 degrees. so that should be a beautiful day out at the shore. in fact, it is a practically

perfect day. sunny skies, warm temperatures, low humidity, and light winds. you know that's what you call the perfect forecast, right there, and it is kinds of nice to give you good wet on my first weekend here in fill. future weather showing you we are going to see the clouds start to work their way in. i think saturday is looking great. sunday morning, again, beautiful as we wake up, see the clouds off to the west. and all of that will start rolling our way, there is sunday at about 10:00 p.m. monday afternoon, that's when things get little dicey, 5:00 p.m., start to see some of the rain starting to roll close us to, in the overnight hours monday into tuesday that when things start to get little interesting. but today gorgeous day, sunny, pleasant, 80s, sunday starts nice, keep eye out for some afternoon clouds, as we take a look at today, eight a degrees, sunshine, and winds out of the northeast about 10 miles per hour. nice and quiet tonight, partly cloudy, temperatures just down to nice mild 65 degrees. take a look at your forecast here. beautiful weekend, again, watch out monday, afternoon, for those clouds, late showers and thunderstorms coming in monday night into tuesday.

but the sunshine is back. you can see the temperatures dip down slightly, start warming up, get the sun back, we get to the mid to late week time frame. so todd, your marching orders are in. enjoy this beautiful weekend. >> i love it. you know what's great, too, the low humidity, which is somewhat unusual for this time of year in the northeast. >> yes, and you feel it in the air, just fresh, lovely, in august, i'm take it. >> perfect, thank you so much. winslow township man survives harrowing ordeal, lost in the woods for three days. sixty-one year old james wharton left a barbeque on sharp avenue monday night, decided to cut through the woods to get back to his house on reading avenue. police began searching for him after he called 911, tuesday morning, to say that he was lost, and then his phone died. well, thursday night, four friends, who joined the search, stopped their atv's near williamstown road, heard wharton calling out for help. >> said his name. he said he's been walking in circles. like oh, my god this is the guy me and my friends nick had

to carry him out. then the two girls, christine and brit nip, were pushing the bryers, and the sticker bushes away so we could carry him out. >> wow. wharton enjoyed a soda, as he road on the atv to where police were stationed. doctors now are treating him for severe dehydration. have you ever heard of solar distortion? that's what they call it when home's vinyl siding melts. it is causing homeowners thousands of dollars. jim donovan has more on the problem and in this week's angie list report. >> reporter: vinyl siding the most popular single-family homicide g product in the united states. it is attractive, chemical, and durable. but some say their siding has melted, because of their neighbor's energy efficient windows. >> just a perfect series every events that leads to. >> this you have to have the right angle of the sun, so depending on the time of day, if the sun is high in the school or not, we actually see more cases we've been called out more in the wintertime

when the sun is lower. >> often referred to as low e windows, they act like a magnifying glass shooting the sun's rays like a lazer beam on to the house next-door. >> this is causing such a problem that many of the vinyl siding companies are actually including damage from low window reflection from the warantee. >> vinyl cud g companies and window manufacturers point the finger of responsibility at each otherment numerous lawsuits are in the works. but that still leaves homeowners like maura lewis to find their own solution. one option is to upgrade to a fiber cement or hardy planning siding, but that's about three times more expensive than standard vinyl. >> i kind of felt like our hands were tide, you know, casino of stuck with the situation, and not really being able to fix it at the time until we got more information on how to do that. >> expert recommend installing exterior screens over the offending windows to diffuse the heat. that requires a cooperative

in this morning's health watch, many body builders admit taking supplement to help them bulk up whether a shake or protein bar. but as kristin airs as sister station reports, many are going overboard. >> we caught them getting a work out near lake mira today, almost all of them admitted this isn't all they do to get by. >> you work out, then you have a little protein shake, with some frozen strawberries, protein bars, yep, i've eaten them. >> have a protein shake out of the frig. >> new study says 40% of menus protein bars, powders, and pills, to build muscle and

burn fat. but, some were overdoing it. 22% of men surveyed say they were using the supplements in place of meals. 8% had been told by doctors, to cut back, or stop taking them, and 3% had been hospitalized, for kidney or liver damage after using too many supplement. the supplement are sold at stores like this one. experts say, with a healthy diet, some of them can be good for you. others, not so much. there is nothing really inherently wrong in the supplement, the question is, what is in the supplement? what sells in there? >> mark cohen, owner says you should work nutritionist before starting supplements, some contain ingredients that can be unhealthy, even good supplement should be used in moderation. bottom line? >> supplement, a vitamin, can fill in the gap, but it will never replace food. >> i think tastes way better to just eat real food. >> see you eating food, home cooked meals.

this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". today is saturday, august 8th, good morning everyone, aim todd can quinnipiac, shaping up to be a great weekend, weather wise. here's our new meteorologist, kyla growing inch, with eyewitness werth. you couldn't draw it up any better. >> everybody at home doesn't know it, but todd, were you singing, a little earlier, and i think the weather, i don't know, sounded pretty good. i think the weather has a lot to do with it, a day you want to sing. it is sunshine, it is beautiful, the humidity not bad either. just great day to be outside. i certainly hope you can. let's take live look at storm scan three you can see, the radar is already looking spectacular. check it out everybody. just little bit of action off shore in the southern part of the delmar v and point south. really fantastic, maybe at the shore, atlantic sit, couple temperature about 62 degrees, in philly, 07 degrees currently, up in the poconos, for the 50's, registering

"eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown with the latest on the investigation. >> it was supposed to be a morning like any other for the own owner of the best cake kosher bakery on haverford avenue. when the 56 year old woman opened the store at 6:00 a.m., police say, two robbery suspect were waiting for her at the back door. >> they saw her inside. we think she may have reached for a baseball bat that she has in there. the male appeared to have come through the screen door by pushing it open. there was confrontation inside. and while inside, it appears she shot one time. >> the victim still got pink for air after being shot in the neck, managed to call 911. vaguely describing her two

attackers. police say they stole the victim's apron, which held about $300, before leaving the scene. >> someone fairly newspaper her routine. they know the business. they know the business hours. they know what time she comes? >> heart breaking because this is a good area. in and out, police officers always driving through, we don't have -- this is shocking to me. >> terry gains works in a building nearby, frequents the bakery. >> i probably would have been in there this morning getting donut. i go in there every other wednesday morning, every thursday and friday, because i work at this location thursday and friday's. but every week. and she is just a very kind laid. >> i jerome former bakery store employee still shocked by the incident. >> she is a nice lady. you know, she gives everybody a hand, gave me work before. >> police scouring the area looking for video that may lead them to the suspect. meantime the bakery was robbed back in january and just last week there was reportedly an attempted robbery, as well.

the victim remains in critical condition at penn presbyterian hospital. meantime police are asking anyone who may have been in this area may have been a witness to please come forward. in overbrook park, natasha brown, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". the chopper three over limerick where emergency crews returned to free someone trapped in this mangled car. it crashed at west ridge pike, in south limerick road two, cars were involved in that accident with one coming to rest against an utility pole. three people were taken to the hospital two. by helicopter. the cause of the crash has not yet been determined. >> and three resident living at a senior facility in hokessing delaware were sickened by carbon monoxide poisoning. chopper three over coax bury village love ville road fire officials blame faulty boiler in the basement for the leak, and building evacuated for almost three hours. >> and big change for amorosso baking company. they are closing their long time southwest philadelphia bakery, and moving to south

"eyewitness news" reporter charlotte tells us why, and she also talked with some who will soon be unemployed. >> reporter: for more than 50 years, and on any given day, workers outside amorosso bakery can be seen headed home with left over bread in hand. a sign that will soon be no more. >> everybody is gone. the whole building, every gone. >> reporter: iconic bakery laying off 200 employees, many who have work here for decades. >> twenty-six years. >> twenty-six years, wow. >> yes. >> lay. >> reporter: layoffs begin in october, by the end of the year the facilities on 56th street will close it doors. >> we heard rumors about two years ago, but we got a letter in our check yesterday. >> that letter from the company explains amorosso's has outgrown it current facility, and is needing an update. >> life has to go on after amorosso, that's okay. >> live will go on for amaro owe's at this bellmawr industrial park. the company and ginsburg bakery of atlantic sitly open
