this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> gunfire rings out -- on straight ers mark the anniversary of the shooting death of michael brown, the african-american teenager killed by police one year ago in the communitive ferguson missouri. >> good after noon, i'm erika von tiehl. pat's off this noon. hundreds of people marking the one year anniversary of his death when chaos errupted. police shot one man they say opened fire on them. don champion has the latest from ferguson. >> crying scene tape marks the area where investigators are

looking for shell casings, following a gun battle overnight in ferguson, missouri. the gunfire errupted between two small groups as interim police chief andre anderson was being interviewed down the street. >> by stands err took cover behind cars and buildings, up to 50 shots fired. >> it was a remarkable amount of gunfire. >> police officers caught up with one suspect right here, near an old restaurant. investigators say, he started shooting into an unmarked police van, and they returned fire. the gunman ran in more shots exchanged. >> this video sews suspect injured face down on the grounds in parking lot. >> he's bleeding, give him some help, please give him some help. >> incident happened hours after more than thousand people marched from the spot where michael brown junior was fatally shot by white police

officer last year, his death sparked the black limbs matter movement. >> ferguson missouri, don champion, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". meanwhile, family members after philadelphia teenage remember also calling attention to the police involved shooting that claimed his life last december. supporters and family of brandon tate brown gathered outside the district attorney's office earlier today. they want da seth williams to reopen the investigation into tate-brown's death, he was shot and killed during traffic stop december 14th last year. the officers involved were not charged in that case. a houston man is held without bail charged with capitol murder in a deadly rampage at the home after woman he once dated. police say 48 years old david conally slipped through an unlock window on saturday. then handcuffed and fatally shot 40 year old valerie jackson, her husband, and six children. one of those boys is believed

to be conally's own son. conally held police at bay but eventually surrendered. police say he had a violent criminal past. >> philadelphia police are investigating a roll-over crash that killed a man and woman in lawncrest overnight. authorities say the two victims were ejected after their suv lost control at whitaker and adam avenues. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch has the latest. >> upside down, jeep grand cherokee, unrecognizable after violent high-speed crash, sent the suv through several ways of traffic and into mangled mess just before 3:00 a.m. monday. police say 30 year old man and 25 year old woman were inside. both pronounced dead on scene. overnight, the investigation began to determine what caused the crash. >> police tell us it appears that jeep suv was traveling in the center lanes of the roosevelt when it lost control here at about adams avenue, striking the position and traffic sign, continuing to

block of bustleton avenue in rhawnhurst. the homeowner, man in his 80s, suffered minor cut. the driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. the cause of the crash is under investigation. >> problems on the north ends of avalon beach, had to be closed because after dangerous drop off right near the ocean. the sand drops off, like a cliff, check it out, in some places it is as steep as 5 feet. no one's been injured, but the beach patrol did close the beaches from ninth street to 24th street for part of the weekend. our charlotte hoffman is headed down to check on the situation right now. she will have full report for you tonight on "eyewitness news" starting at 5:00. >> not the best beach day, casino of what you see what when you get, katie, right? we check in with you for the forecast. >> that's really the story here, depending where you are, you have seen more sun than anything, further inland specially that you travel, that's where the wet weather has been confined so far today. at least for now that's where it will stay.

everyone is fair game eventually, to see more wet weather. we explain, first and for most, just snap. who i always like to show the snapshot, if there is active weather, gives you sense of where things are currently overhead. still primarily back through our west most counties here, of chester, lancaster, berks and then up toward the lehigh valley where it has been confined for the better part of the day so far. as we move forward in the forecast, look how the chances starting to up for everybody, tomorrow, clearly, going to be the wettest day of our forecast, that is moisture rich cold front moves through. warmfront today, cold front tomorrow. then eventually things do start to clear out for us moving forward beyond that point. at this point, however, talking low mid 80s, general expectation for temperatures, will stay somewhat steady and consistent through the better part of the afternoon, at least for philadelphia, we call it partially sunny here for now, but later into tonight, dow expect that some of the wet weather that's in the western suburbs now is going to in fact make it to

large. >> this video was taken as police fired at a female suspect. she was detained, but another female suspect fled that scene. turkish media reports that a separate bomb attack at police station left ten people wounded and one dead. it is not clear if the two incidents are related. funeral services are in the planning stages for nfl hall of famer and broadcaster frank gifford. the long time star of the new york giants died yesterday at his connecticut home. he was an nfl mvp and won the league championship in 1956. he also spent more than 20 years behind the mike for monday night football. frank gifford was 84 years old. now, gifford is survived by five children and five grandchildren, also surviving him, his wife, it. v personality kathy lee gifford who treated out this mess and, deeply grateful to all for your outpouring of grace, stead fast in our grays

>> jello continues to flow today, epa accidentally released waste from gold mine, into the annmust river, flowing at rate of 500 gallons per minute. that sludge is now reaching new mexico. experts are analyzing the water to determine what the environ al health impact might be. the faa is investigating reports of a drone flying near newark airport yesterday. >> use caution, drone activity reported. >> air traffic controllers can be heard warning pilots about it, four commercial flights reported seeing that drone at about 3,000 feet near the approach after runway. none of those flights had to take evasive action.

federal officials are now investigating. >> some tends moments in the cockpit of delta airlines flight. the plane was headed to salt lake city from boston on friday when it flew right into some severe weather. hail, the size of baseballs, pelted the plane. check out the windshield there, severely damaged the windshield. the pilots describe virtually flying blind to air traffic control after losing their weather radar. the plane was able to make an emergency landing in denver. >> zimbabwe's president is speaking out for the first time after the killing of the protected lion in the country sparked global outrage. robert says zimbabwe's own people failed to protect cecil the lion from foreign vandals. he made the comments in speech marking zimbabwe's hero's day. >> he is dead. but you failed to protect. >> an american dentist is accused of killing cecil

time frame of the forecast as we track the more moisture rich aspect of this system, that's moving on through, so for now we start things off, what you will find outside, actually take you first and for most to the live neighborhood network, a lot of clouds. we have had some rain intermittently rolling through, berks county, kutztown area middle school, where it is primarily just cloudy for now. but then look by comparison, yes, at least still little hint of blue sky off in the distance, maybe not the most pristine day that we've ever seen in cape may courthouse or along the beefs, but brighter to the closer the shore you are. meanwhile another peak, wider zoom on storm scan3, again wet weather is out there. this is nothing compared to what i think will eventually see by later tonight and into early tomorrow morning. we will be going on the air at 4:30 women on "eyewitness news" this morning, and we will have quite a bit of rain to track from this guy. you can see, not the most well defined front. you can see little bit more after line shaping up here. that's what has got to cross through before we can say we're officially done with the system. so jumping you all the way to 3:00 p.m. today.

still most of the wet weather off to the west here, even toward 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. so the closer you are to new jersey, or the shore points, i think the more likely it is that you will really just stay dry for most of the day. then we get to the overnight. heavy rain. starts to move in here you go, 4:00 a.m., up to 5:00 a.m., we will have big pocket moving on through, and that's sipped out of here, not done yet. cold front got to cross. that will move in later in the day t could be locally gusty or heavy thunderstorms come with. that will storm threat thankfully not tracking, major potential for any hail, tornado, but winds, lightning, heavy downpours, absolutely a concern. meanwhile, you may be wondering have we hit anyone hundred agree days yet? haven't hit one since 2012, if you can believe it. dow want to jump ahead, give you sense of what's to come here down the road. we just jump into the seven day forecast, we start to run short on time. eighty-three the expected high today. come tuesday, expect to see the showers and locally heavier gusty storms. and then i promise you good news, the majority of the seven day looking drier with
