you do want to take it easy. it is tuesday august 11th i'm erika von tiehl. check in with two busy ladies misha and katie. >> i think it's sometimes easy to under estimate how wet roadways can slow down a commute. today is not one of those days, give yourself extra time for sure. >> i know you've already had a lot of incidents, misha going on out there. weather related, we really have been hit hard so far this morning. with very, very soak rain. some instances from some of our "eyewitness news" weather watchers we're getting reports at least half inch plus even in some spots picked up an inch from this. we're looking at a three-hour loop here of the pounding rain that came through and still continues tads, but there's obviously a pocket where you're dealing with the heaviest stuff and at this point, the good news is, it's starting to move out to sea, so if you're maybe down the shore watching us, you're probably still stuck in the really heavy stuff at this point, also little breezy too

but this, my friends is unfortunately not going to be over until tomorrow, because we got to deal with the cold front passing. heaviest rain moving through but stuck with additional shores showers and/or thunderstorms gusty maybe a little bit of a break mid day fire up again in scattered fashion this afternoon. seems like 70 is kind of the magic number. both occasions you're currently checking in at 70 right now, wildwood, dover, list goes on to the lehigh valley. if you're headed to the shore, today tit's not the best beach day, maybe you want to find something to do on the boardwalk, hit a movie, you will have to deal with not just additional showers but thunderstorms. in philadelphia, we're shooting for low 80's as well and there, too, once we get the heaviest rain out of here, you get a bit of a break, misha but there's more to come before the day is said and done. >> it's just the way that it is. certainly busy on the roadways, too, good morning, everyone, grab your coffee, pack that patience, you're going to need

it. there's an accident 95 southbound past the academy road as you can see, far left lane, the shoulder and kind of that left lane area is blocked causing slow downs. you can already see how much traffic is in or around this accident and when i look a little bit northbound heading southbound toward this accident looking very, very slow there. also, we had flooding early on an exit around girard, that is now being cleared out of that roadway. also had flooding'earlier schuylkill eastbound between 30th street and south street, the ripe lane right landscape blocked. wrapped up, so you know it's a good indicator that it is very slow and wet. the pennsylvania turnpike, westbound delaware valley at street road, the right lane blocked. those of you who have to travel in or around this area, use your best discretion there. quick look, you can see how speed sensors startsing to drop a tiny bit, normally not what we

see at this time. erika back over to you. new this morning a man in critical condition after being shot in the back in lawncrest. it happened after 11:30 in the 5400 block of helen street. police have a woman in custody for that shooting, no details right now on what led to it. man just out for a walk in south jersey hit by a car and dragged several feet. this morning police are searching for that hit-and-run driver. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch. joins us outside the pleadings with the latest. justin, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, we spoke to police a shower or storm ago, they tell us that later today, they will release official information about the victim, his injuries, as well as the make and model of the car that mowed him down early this morning, glassboro police tell us about 1:20 or so this morning, that man mowed down on the 600 block of quincy court off of mullica hill road in gloucester county. the victim was not only hit here, he was also dragged.

and the driver of the car that struck him did not stop afterwards. the make left that victim lying in the road with head trauma. that victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment this morning, and back as he recovers at that hospital, police are looking for the driver that mowed him down as well as the car that was involved, they say if you know anything, to please come forward. meantime if you do not, they will continue their search and again, later this morning, we should know more about the victim, his injuries and the make and model of the car involved in this hit-and-run overnight. we are live at glassboro police headquarters, i'm justin finch. cbs3 "eyewitness news". thank you. another night of unrest in ferguson missouri. protesters, once again, clash with police during a fourth consecutive night of demonstrations. this is marking the one-year anniversary of death of michael brown, cbs news can complainant don champion join us from

ferguson where a state of emergency is in effect we understand. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, that state of emergency is in effect. last of the protesters along around 3:30 or so local time. while there were more than a dozen arrests here, we did not see the type of violence we saw out here on sunday. >> reporter: police in riot gear moved in on protesterss illegally assembled overnight. where demonstrations are interrupted by gunfire sunday. some officers were pelted with bottles as they made arrests but contained the satiability. >> we're trying to do everything we can to protect life and property. >> reporter: hours earlier, dozens of protesters were arrested on what was build as a national day of civil disbeans. kayla read was among those taken into custody for blocking the entrance to a federal courthouse in st. louis. >> we understand all of this is necessary toward the goal of

creating accountable police department. >> reporter: a year after the death of michael brown, some here believe ferguson is far from healing. >> i still get angry when i walk past or ride past where michael brown's body lay. i get angry every day just to know the man that did it still out here. living his every day life. >> reporter: federal authorities still working with officials in the city to change practices within it is police force, practices, the justice department said included a pattern of excessive force against minoritys. . now between the protests here overnight and the day of civil denies bairns activities there were more than 140 arrests in st. louis. there were concerns overnight with the presence of a group called the heavily armed men not members of any law enforcement agencies showed up here to the protest this morning the st. louis police chief called their presence here unnecessary and inflammatory, erika back to you.

95 southbound, past academy road, left lane blocked due to an accident. that has already been cleared, which is good news. 42 freeway heading in the northbound direction at creek road, approaching 295, you can see looking great, this has been one of the more peaceful areas of the morning, 42 freeway for those of you coming from jersey, there's our freeway friend not causing slow counsel were we have an active accident, the exit to the vine, you can see pulled off into me middle flashing lights. thankfully not causing very many slow downs in that area, maybe tapping on your brakes a little bit because it is slippery out there and seeing what the flashing lights are doing. also pennsylvania turnpike westbound we have a tractor-trailer accident here the right lane is blocked. delaware valley and street road make note of that. also going to, i have not give you a snapshot to pull this into perspective. just dropping a few miles per hour from 55, maybe down to 40

. from the cbs3 broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". good tuesday morning to you. soggy start to your day, looking live right now the view from the art museum steps. when you look out your window you just know it's going to be wet. adding tom to your morning commute. i think the question is this just the morning or all day event or can you just race out the door fast without your umbrella. >> i would say have your wet weather gear, i broke out my rain coat today. it's soggy outside. we can break this down, as the day goes on, the worst of this, you can already see starting to push away. the heaviest rain has already fallen over philadelphia. the problem is, hold on, there's going to be some additional wet weather. you can even see how the radar sort of fills in on the back

franklin bridge for those travel ongoing center city from new jersey. you can see sea of lights on the ben franklin bridge. we typically don't really see it like that and speaking of, take a look at this, just looks like tiny microscopic lights, i was, sea of vehicles on 95 south between allegheny and girard avenue. lots of vehicles on roadways. when we get that many vehicles, we get accidents too. also, freeway southbound at route 534 an accident here one lane is blocked in this stretch just for those of you paying attention to everything going on and also another accident, tractor-trailer pennsylvania turnpike westbound delaware valley and street road, right lane is blocked in that area. overall, leave a little bit early. bring your umbrella and pack that patience, erika back over to you. >> thank you. philadelphia business owners worried about how security for the papal visit will disrupt deliveries will soon get to meet with city leaders, jan carabeo joins us live over looking the ben franklin parkway and the very same view the pope will

on the 17th street beach when it caved in. lifeguards and other beach goers freed the boy and bystandersers performed cpr. a stretch of cape may county shore line is open again after a dangerous drop-off force add temporary closure. the cliffs were about five feet high and stretched roughly a mile. two days, strong northeast winds hammered that shoofrm sand from a recent beach replehn meant project headed south created the cliff. >> the sand was replaced will wind up on south end beaches, avalon is progressive to the point we do back passing projects in the winter where we take the sand in the north end that washes to the south and mechanically relocate it back to north end where it belongs. >> the beach patrol had to shut down a shut down a second of the north end. a long island community has a full service emergency room for
