wreckage. officials here, in allentown just removed wreckage here from where it crashed around 11:30 as you mentioned and now the the question is what led to this crash. this quiet creek turned into a crash landing zone on friday morning. >> in my career i have never seen anything like this, so it is new to all of us. >> reporter: around 11:00 this experimental plane crash landed, nest down in the muddy riverbed. >> the pilot was conscious when he was taken by our e ms. >> reporter: lehigh northampton airport authority says the pilot is thomas siminsky from zionville. >> patrick hearst knows the victim is likely his plane had a major mechanical break down. >> he probably got bad fuel, might have had fuel starvation. certainly had engine problems. he didn't have a lot of choices except to make it back to the runway but he didn't have enough altitude to get there. >> reporter: while the faa tries to piece together the official cause and siminsky

recovers at a nearby hospital, he believes the pilot did everything right. >> he demonstrated what you might call safety even though it was a accident, he walked away or basically he is alive and no one else was injured and it doesn't have to be that way. >> reporter: now allentown police say there was some fuel that did spill into this river when that plane crashed but emergency workers were able to surround that aircraft, with a boom, and contain most of that fuel. they say just a few gallons may have spilled, into this river. we are live here in allentown i'm greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> greg, thank you for that. chopper three over a mess on the road in cinnaminson. we are looking at route 130 near taylors lane, a car caught fire and utility pole and wires came down on the roadway. chain of events in all of thinks still unclear and there is no word on injuries right now. lets give you a live look at chopper three northbound lanes of 130 are opened again, southbound lanes here remain closed, crews are still working to clear clean up, the

83 degrees in millville. not feeling all that bad outside with dew point is still in the 50's which has us in the pleasant range but dew points are expect to creep backup in the lower 60's off to our west and that means it is turning steamy again as we go from pleasant today up to not bad, slightly steamy tomorrow and then that humidity level just keeps on climbing in the start of next week. coming up i'll tell you how hot it will get and when heat wave could come to an end with a chance for a thunderstorm coming up in the seven day when i join you inside, ukee. a university of delaware football player is facing assault charges tonight. school officials say jerome harrison allegedly hit another player with the the helmet last night. he is starting senior from richmond, virginia. the or player was treated for injuries and released. harrison is being held on $25,000 cash bail. he was ordered to have no contact with the school or the other player. well, prosecutors charged a philadelphia cook with distributing child pornography in new jersey. twenty-eight year-old taylor peck work at the restaurant on

east passyunk avenue. he about been fired. he was found up loading and distributing images from a computer at his father's home in monmouth county. well, tonight the pennsylvania spca is caring for 122 cats being rescued from deplorable conditions in the poconos. they were found inside a home in henryville monroe county and transported to spca headquarters in north philadelphia now the the cats and kittens are being treated by injuries cause by a flee infestation inside the home. owners had planned on opening up a sanctuary for cats, but weren't able to keep up with the rate that the cats reproduce. they voluntarily surrendered the animals. >> some of them do need more extensive medical care. we have one that required a blood transfusion last night which we were able to provide and happy to report that the four week old kitten is doing well today. rest of them are in stable condition, but we need additional medical treatment for their injuries. >> the the cats will be made a

available for adoption. so far no charges have been filed against the owners. well, chopper three in woodbury gloucester county where a tractor trailer had roof sheared off when driver went under a overpass in the high enough. it happened in west west bank and washington avenue in woodbury, in one was hurt. pope francis is likely to distribute -- disrupt life for many especially those close where the action will be. crowd and security are a big concern as well as parking. well, after more than 50 years the american flag flies over the u.s. embassy in cuba secretary of state john kerry was on hand for the ceremony. he says talks to restore diplomatic relations between the two nations will begin next month but not everyone is on board with the decisions. some legislators have vowed to block any move to lift the trade embargo as long as cuba continues to oppress its people. now that the stars and stripes are flying proudly in the country of a former cold war faux could cuban flag make an appearance in philadelphia? everyone that scott pelley and "cbs evening news" will have complete coverage of the historic flag raising right after this broadcast at 6:30. well, special event in philadelphia to help veterans transition back to civilian life. the solder ride was hosted by wounded warrior project for veterans, missing limbs, and invisible once like ptsd. it will be packed with events for the veterans full of things, full of comradery, healing, through help and wellness activities. small earthquake rumbled through parts of the north jersey. officials say it measured 2.7 on the magnitude scale and epicenter was 2 miles north of bernardsville somerset county. it struck three and a half miles below earth's surface. many people in the surrounding area felt it when it hit at 3:41 this morning there were no injuries or damage some hems lost power but residents are so glad it was not worse.

moon, we have a great viewed of the persaid meteor shower because it is progressively darker which allows to you see stars better. gray day here. we will look at storm can three which is generally quiet for our region. a few showers and storms off to the north. few more back through great lakes region. shower or storm down toward poconos tomorrow afternoon but for the the most part a dry, sunny weekend for almost all of us. temperatures right the now warm but in the too uncomfortable, that is good news. eighty-six at the airport. eighty-five wilmington. eighty-four allentown. eighty-one in the ac airport. dew points are still in the 50's, barely hanging on in the 50's. pleasant range in philadelphia you can see how a few you spots off to the west are seeing those rising dew points. that is because of the southeasterly wind picking up this evening and tonight, bringing moisture directly from the deep south in the gulf of mexico into our area and start to feel those dew points overnight and into the weekend. high pressure starts to slip
