>> right now at 11:00 a warning to drivers. fbi is investigating an e-mail exam targeting millions of e-z pass users up and down the east coast. good evening to you. i'm jessica dean. ukee washington is off tonight. e-mails are being sent to e-z pass customers claiming they haven't paid for tolls but e-z pass says those notices are bogus. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live along the ben franklin bridge with what you need to watch out for. david?

>> reporter: jessica, good evening. one reason that drivers and law enforcement officials are so concerned because this e-mail looks real in many cases if you find yourself getting one of these e-mails you want to make sure not to click on the link you pay more money than what it actually says in that fake e-mail. >> you know, nice for a long commute. >> reporter: e-z pass uses like rod could be become cyber victims thanks to an e-mail circulating that asks customers to input credit card information to make up for alleged unpaid tolls. >> it's scary. i mean it's definitely scary. there's a lot of exams going on now that are, you know, looking really sharp to the naked eye. >> reporter: the scam hits millions of customers up and down the east coast and it comes a year after a similar e-mail hit in box. >> there's a toll violation they're going to mail you the registered vehicle owner over the us postal service. this is not how e see pass operate. >> jim is with triple his company started warning

customers this week after his colleague in washington, d.c. got the e-mail. >> it look like the e see pass website when you go it to. as a consumer always be aware of any unsolicited e-mail that comes in that asks to you enter personal data or credit card information. >> reporter: warnings like this are posted on e-z pass sites in pennsylvania, delaware and new jersey. >> every time you turn around there's something you have to be aware of. >> reporter: some e-mails ask for social security number. something e-z pass employees would never ask for in e-mail. >> i think it's a shame some people think is secure have to be worried about getting their information out there. >> reporter: the easiest to find out if the e-mail is fake is to pick up the phone and call e-z pass directly. >> or if you want to file a form pal complaint contact the federal trade commission ftc we have that link and helpful tips to make sure you don't become a victim on our website posted right now cbsphilly.com. live at the ben franklin bridge, david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness

news". >> good information, david, thanks so much. developing now in burlington county, new jersey, police say four juveniles walking on the side of the road were hit by a passing car. chopper three over the scene on bud town road in southampton. two of the victims are now in critical condition. the others are in serious condition. the driver remain at the scene. also happening right now kennedy university hospital in stratford camden county is currently turning away ambulances after a woman with a low grade fever came to the hospital. she recently returned from guinea in africa and went to the hospital out of abundance of caution. we're told she's being tested for malaria. no word on when kennedy university hospital will start accepting ambulances once again. the heat wave is coming to an end but now we're trackin tra stormy stretch of weather over the next few days much meteorologist kate bilo has look at the changes. kate. >> that's right, jessica. we get rid of the heat but we

bring the storms right back into the area and each day for the rest of the work week at least we'll have increased risk of thunderstorms you can see tonight is pretty quite a few showers pop up. one moved over portions of delaware. thanks to christine in new castle a light shower came through. thanks to our eyewitness reports on twitter telling us what's happening on the ground you can see light showers drifting to the north and really starting to fizzle as they move through chester county. the rest of the region is quiet for now. it's been a four-day heat wave saturday 91, 93 on sunday. monday yesterday we hit our peak of the heat 94 degrees and today into. but the heat wave should come to an end it's still going to feel hot tomorrow with temperatures in the upper 80s. but it will not be an official day of our heat of what you can see temperatures right now in the upper 70s. not feeling too bad with a breeze but you may wake up tomorrow morning to a few showers drifting on through and those could last into the afternoon but more heavy rain is on the way. coming up with the seven day forecast i'll tell when you to expect the heaviest rain and if it will move out for the up coming weekend. >> jessica? >> kate, thanks. a community comes together

tonight to pray for the recovery of a 10-year-old boy who's now in critical condition after being shot in the head. we've learned police have made arrests in the shooting which happened on town son place in wilmington. "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco has more. ♪ >> reporter: with song and praise community members are holding 10-year-old maki in prayer feet from his home where he was shot in the head just before 2am tuesday. >> the little boy is going to pull through. because we're praying for that. you know, our focus right now is on that baby. >> reporter: police with guns drawn and wearing bullet proof vests are several homes next to his tuesday afternoon arresting a second man just thee doors down. and confiscating weapons. police say 24-year-old jalill golds worry already in custody for shooting makai charged with illegal possession of firearm causing death or injury to another. >> we're all neighbors. >> right. >> we must stand together.

>> that's right. >> to stamp out this violence. >> yes. >> and shootings and murders taking place in our communities. >> that's right. >> real competitive. so i believe even in fighting for his life he's going to compete. >> while police have not said how the shooting happened people here are certain it was an accident. he was just getting ready to go into the fifth grade. instead family has been with him all day at the hospital. >> he's breathing on their tools. they breathing for him. >> he was a loving caring little boy and he was very familiar oriened we want ya'll to know we love him and that he was a very loving child and that whoever did this, we want justice for it because this should have never have happened. >> reporter: his family searches for answers police continue their investigation. he's listed in critical but stable condition at ai dupont children's hospital. in wilmington, delaware, i'm diana rocco cbs3 "eyewitness news". the teenaged daughter of rosie o'donnell has been found safe in our area tonight.

chelsea o'donnell was found around 6:00 o'clock in barnegat township, ocean county. on her website rosie o'donnell tweeted quote thank you for all the help and light. a spokeswoman for o'donnell said chelsea ran away from home and was last seen by her family august 11th. o'donnell said chelsea had stopped taking medication for undisclosed mental illness. congressman chaka fattah pleads not guilty and is photographed and fingerprinted. "eyewitness news" was there as fattah walked into federal court today. three weeks ago the 11 term democrat was inn it diet odd 29 corruption counts much federal prosecutors say he used charitable donations and federal grants to pay off an illegal million dollar campaign loan after a failed run for mayor in 2007. >> i am innocent of each and everyone of these allegations. i fully expect that when we vent these allegations that we're going to get to a point in which they will no longer represent a

cloud on my very good reputati reputation. >> yesterday fattah sent a five-page letter to congressional overnight committee questioning the motivation ethics and methods of prosecutors in the case. new developments in the kim cal case against pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane. court documents unsealed by the state supreme court today show kane was told in december she had the right to release pornographic e-mails. last week, in a press conference, kane claimed she still needed court approval to do so. she contends the pornographic e-mail chain by state employees is at the root of the charges against her. she's accused of of leaking grand jury information to embarrass a political rival and then lying about it. kane' attorney doctors release a statement today. it reads in part "we expect that appropriate public disclosure will occur in connection with the vigorous defense of the criminal charges that have been laid against her. these images and the e-mails to which they are attached are search to demonstrating attorney general kane's innocence ".

the search is on for whomever vandalized a street hockey court egg who are harbor township causing $35,000 in damage. someone pull the plastic decking from the court on ocean heights avenue and rode on it with a bicycle or atv leaving behind tire mark. the damage occurred sometime between 9:00 p.m. sunday and 5:30 p.m. monday. >> it's a punch in the gut. um, you know, you have people everyone out here volunteer. that put all this time and effort into trying to make it as good as you can for the kids. so it hurts. it makes you very angry. but at the end of the day the organization i know will respond. we'll rebuild it. we'll make it as good as new. >> eyewitness observed a group of about 20 kids on bikes near the court but did not see anyone doing damage. if you have any information, you are asked to call egg harbor township police. now to a full burglary -- bold burglary caught on cam a the search is on for a man who

stole four bicycles from a loading dock in camden. surveillance video shows the suspect rolling out to the bicycles. you are asked to call camden county police if you know who that person is. we are now only 39 days away from pope francis' historic visit to philadelphia. and as we've been telling you over a million people are expected to attend the events in late september. today we learned cell phone companies are beefing up service to keep up with demand. together at&t and verizon have invested $45 million to add cell service infrastructure along the ben franklin parkway. each company says the up grades will quadruple capacity. at&t is bringing in temporary cell towers on wheels called c cows. some of the infrastructure boosting capacity will remain in place after the pope's visit. third time is the charm for the drug often referred to as female viagra. fda approved the pill that

battling wildfires out west. about 100 wildfires are raging across at least seven states. flames have destroyed 75 homes in washington and central california a wildfire grew to 2,000 acres today. fire experts say september and october could be just as active unless there's significant rainfall. police in thailand are now searching for a man captured on surveillance video in a deadly bombing at a shrine crowded with tourists. >> new cell phone video shows the force of that explosion 20 people were killed. more than 100 people were woun wounded. police believe the bomber is in a yellow shirt in this surveillance video. he is seen taking off his backpack and leaving it under a bench at the shrine. in the meantime, in bangkok another pipe com detonated at a pier frequented by tourists but no one was hurt. on the cbs3 health watch tonight, the fda has approved to drug to help boost the libido of

woman. it should be available by mid october. it's a little pink pill that was originally tested as an anti-depressant but unlike viagra it doesn't treat physical symptoms of sexual dysfunction. instead it affects the brain. the drug will carry a box warning to highlight side effects that include low blood pressure and fainting. it was twice denied by the fda before today's approval. also, on the health watch tonight, there's excitement about a new weight loss procedure just approved by the fda. doctors at the mayo clinic say it could be a powerful tool in the fight against obesity. and the key feature is this silicon balloon. filled with saline. technique has been used in europe and australia for several years. it's now available here in the u.s. >> mark harrell land's dr. suggested he try something new to help him lose weight. >> they said do you want to be the first? i had to think about it and i said, let's rock. >> mark is 5-foot nine and weighs 221 pounds. he says even though he tries to

stick to a healthy diet and loves to exercise, he is struggled with his weight for years. >> it's pretty obvious if you look at me i need to, you know, lose few pounds. i've been trying and i've been trying and i've been trying. it doesn't work. >> but maybe this will. >> this is a balloon. it's spherical looking balloon filled with salt solution stalled saline. >> the doctor oversaw the clinical trials of the oh bear row intra gastric balloon at the mayo clinic. >> decrease the amount of food that enters your stomach and stimulates stretch receptors in your stomach to tell your brain there's something in there. i'm feeling full. so you can consume less calories and feel full at the same time. >> fda says nationwide clip trials patient who's had the balloon procedure lost an average of 21 pounds after sick months which was better than the 7-pounds lost in patients who only tried diet and exercise. better yet, nine months after the balloon was taken out, those patients had maintained an

average weight loss of 19 pounds. in mark's case the procedure didn't even hurt. >> i have no pain. >> i mean nothing. >> you do need a doctor's referral and a body mass index of at least 30 to have that procedure done. it costs six to $8,000 including weight loss maintenance consultations for a year. mayo clinic has a financial interest in the company that makes that device. making history. two women have passed the army ranger school becoming the first women to complete the grueling combat training program. captain chris grise and first lieutenant shea hair are both west point graduates and when they graduate on friday both men and women will receive the cov coveted ranger tab but unlike the men, the women will still not be eligible to serve in elite ranger regimens are other ground combat units. hair is a apachi helicopter pilot and grise begins to a military police union. excitement continues to build for steven colbert's debut

shore. let's take a look down the shore you can see ocean city boardwalk still all lit up ferris wheel all lit up as well. people getting in those last summer vacations hard to believe august is winding down and the rest of the week well not the best beach weather at least for the end of the week friday especially looks like a pretty messy day all across the region that's the most active day in our seven day forecast. you can see ocean city looking fine right now. but little further inland a few showers you can see on storm scan3 that shower has really fizzled a line formed over portions of new castle county chester county lifting to the north now a couple of sprinkles over chester county but generally speaking that's pretty much out of here just a few stray showers. what you want to watch though as we zoom way out on storm scan3 is a system over the northern planes right now and it's going to drag a cold front through here on friday that front pretty much will get hung up in our region and just sit overhead all day friday bring the risk for heavy rain and even perhaps the threat for flooding. temperatures right now 78 at the airport. pair of sevens for millville.

78 in allentown not too bad out there. nice southeast breeze kick up late this afternoon. that helped bring temperatures down from the daytime high. so we hit our high of into in philadelphia mid afternoon and then it dropped nicely into the evening. allentown into as well. reading and trenton 92. georgetown 89 degrees today. but a stormy stretch begins. it's already begun a couple of spotty storms today a few yesterday but tomorrow looks more active than any time even mid afternoon a few scattered showers and thunderstorms arou around. thursday mostly of the day clouds an couple of showers especially off to the west. but thursday will be a very humid day this front approaches and watch how this front gets hung up. 1am friday see rain moving in that rain does not really clear until mid afternoon friday in the city. friday afternoon or evening down the shore so it looks like a wet day down the shore especially almost from start to finish maybe some clearing by late fry ate day afternoon here in philadelphia. on wednesday the heat wave ends of course tomorrow we're back in the 80s isolated thunderstorm. a few scattered showers and storms late thursday then the
