we are following breaking news huge flames as fire fighters battle a two alarm fire that destroyed an montgomery county apartment complex. resident have been evacuated and we are live. this morning a shooting at a local bar leaves a man in critical condition. what police say led to that violence. we are learning more about the man who shot and killed, who was shot and killed, after a knife attack at chester county courthouse. what authorities are saying about his troubled past. good morning, it is wednesday, august 26th i'm erika avon tiehl. i'm nicole brewer, as always getting your day starter with weather and traffic. kyla grogan and meisha johnson, good morning. >> good morning. it is our hump day, right. >> yes. >> you know, everyone is always asking will it be, wet, and i feel like whole week will be beautiful, isn't the

it, kyla. >> i'm bearer of good news. every time i show up here weather has been nice. that is what we will see today. a as far as traffic is concern the weather will not be an issue. we're talking about loge humidity, we're talking temperatures in the the low to mid 80's today. already pretty nice looking at the region here, mount pocono 63. seventy in philadelphia. twenty-six at atlantic city. that wind is nice and calm. the radar is gorgeous, today. nice and clear. usually we will keep an eye off a to the north and west for something to catch us off guard? it will not happen today. in fact next three days are looking absolutely gorgeous. look at this, lower 80's, sunshine, and even at the shore you pick the the week for it. we are looking at highs of 79 to 80 degrees over next three days. simply divine is what we are looking at. we will see some heat coming in the forecast, it is coming this weekend. we will talk about that in a few moment in the seven day forecast but now lets head

over to meisha. how are road looking. >> they are looking okay. we still have in play especially ones that are supposed to be out there this morning. the here's the schuylkill westbound off ramp to the blue route. right lane block but that construction is clearing. now i will let you know when that does because schuylkill is an area we will keep a close eye on this morning. we have construction on the vine street eastbound between 23rd and ben franklin park way. you can see shaking camera. could be winnie: i'm not quite sure. either way right lane is block. i will let you know what he that clears out. this is construction on the woodhaven road eastbound at bristol pike. right lane is block here. this is where we contend with construction season. over have night construction project and weekend construction projects in the evening. we are used to it. make note as you head out on the roadway that they are in place still this morning. and, we had an accident overnight, investigation process is still in play on route 130 northbound at route 543, beverly road.

the road is closed. would i suggest taking an alternate such as 295. ladies, over to you. back to that breaking news right now in king of prussia, a two alarm fire tearing through an apartment complex. >> it damaged more than a dozen apartments and displayed 30 residents in the middle of the night. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live at the the scene. what can you tell us. >> reporter: nicole and erika we are at bill smith boulevard at abrams one apartment complex where king of prussia fire fighters arrived at 1:30 or so knocking on doors to get neighbors out of their homes as they fire erupted. you do see flames are still burning this morning. that is a gas line on fire. but for now it is burning off. lets take to you video of the scene, earlier this fire was brought under control in an hour and a half, we are told as you mentioned a second alarm fire. crew from his radnor, norriton, upper merion and others assisting.

the chief on the scene said more than 50 fire fighters were on hand this morning putting out this blaze. at this point the concern seems to be surrounding the utilities, electrical, perhaps the the gas lines here, contribute to go this blaze. of course, the cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. we're told that the roof of the building here is what helped this fire jumped across the 16 unit building here. roof connecting all of the these units here and becoming tinder for this blaze. during the fighting of the fire a water main break and that made fire fighting difficult. a second here however they were able to get enough what the tore continue to knock down this fire. as you mentioned here about 30 or so people have been displaced, some 16 units in this building, we are told the company at abrams one is working with the red cross to find them housing. neighbors tell me a man heard a popping sound at his unit a at the 1:25, came out with an extinguisher and fire was too big for him, to bring under

control. he called 911. the gas line here and power lines here still a concern this morning. the the remnants of the gas are burning off, and now fire fighters and police air waiting the chance to get a look at that line which is underground. here's sound from the chief. lets take a listen. >> we're really still concern about this gas fed fire because we cannot turn the gas feed off yet. we had to dig a hole to get it shut off. >> reporter: it appears in the distance that gas crew might be on the scene. we are seeing digging a few feet from where that fire is still burning, this morning, that fire is not the a major concerning, however, they cannot stop that blaze from burning until will that crew get to that line and powers that gas line off. the resident here nor longer in the area finding housing elsewhere we are told with the red cross or through their neighbors, friend and family. but at this point no injuries to report this morning. the the cause of the fire is

under investigation. we are live from king of prussia i'm justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> justin, thank you. new this morning a shooter opens fire in the the port richmond bar striking one patron multiple times. philadelphia police say that shooting happened at last shock tavern just before midnight. police rush the, the 41 year-old man to, temple hospital, and listed in critical condition. eyewitnesses tell police it started as a fist fight that spilled outside until one man pulled a gun and started shooting at the victim trying to run back into the the bar. >> while being shot at, the victim, ran back inside of the bar in order to get away. but the the shooter continued to fire, and fired at least two shots through the the front glass door of the bar. >> philadelphia police credit alert bar patron for helping track down the shooter. the eyewitnesses followed the gun man and took note of his license plate number, that allowed police to make an

arrest of that man a short time later. a man who once jumped the white house fence was shot and killed at chester county courthouse. that suspect is identified as 34 year-old curtis smith of coatsville. police say smith entered the justice center just before noon, ran up to the deputy and began slashing him. another deputy opened fire. the the deputy at last check was in stable condition. smith later died at paoli hospital. >> run through the doors, and said i'm going to get you. went right past security. i hear, pop, pop. something is wrong, he fell, but for god's sake receipt him out. >> reporter: "eyewitness news", the the united states agreed to drop charges against him for jumping the fence, if he stayed away from the white house and stayed out of legal trouble. smith signed that document six months ago and was able to walk through. happening today, a judge will formally sentence the man convicted in the 2012 shooting rampage at a colorado movie

theater. twenty-seven year-old james holmes will be sentenced to life in prison because jury could not agree on the death penalty. holmes was found guilty of killing 12 people and wounding dozens more. he could also be sentenced to more than 3300 years of the attempted murder convictions. one of the the three americans who foiled a french terror plot is new back on u.s. soil. port land, oregon tv station captured these shots of anthony sadler right the there in the gray hoodie, right there the the hood up over his head as's arrived on tuesday. sadler was accompanied by his parents for the trip home. last week sadler and two friend subdued a heavily armed man on a train bound for paris. philadelphia police are working to identify three decomposing bodies found inside of a garage. the the gruesome discovery was made on haggard street in strawberry mansion. state record indicate that the garage is owned by janet powell daily. neighbors say the powell family help the community but they are upset about what was found inside that garage.

>> nobody should be stored like that. >> we didn't have no money, to pay that lady that laid would i dot best she could to set up something. memorial or something. >> reporter: so far no arrests have been made. according to the pennsylvania funeral director's association the powell funeral home has a lengthy quote disciplinary history with the state. well, this morning, parents are concerned schools in the cash strapped chester up land school district might not opened on time. school board discussed how to close a 24 million-dollar budget short fall at chester high school last night. earlier in the day a judge refused a request for a 20 million-dollar reductions, in how much the district must pay charter schools for special education students. the judge also refused to slash four million-dollar in the district must pay for students in cyber charter schools. parents tell us they are fed up with the district's financial problems. >> mainly the parents are concerned, they want to know why is this happening once

already, this early evening, we are feeling a crisp, cool air. that is the story for not just today but next few days. it will be beautiful. it will be a great day to get outside and enjoy blue skies. we are seeing nice temperatures out there. in fact, lets look at the temperatures around the region. we have 07 in philadelphia. sixty-one out in reading. sixty-two down in atlantic city. we are off to a good start. let's zoom out here and we will look the at the region here and everybody is looking nice. new york is 70 degrees. washington d.c., cooler at 69. it will be beautiful across eastern seaboard and here's why. it is dew points. notice they are in the 50's. that is a lovely place to be. dew points measure moisture in the air, that moisture contend we are at 51 in philadelphia. that means we are just not feeling that thick, awful feeling of air. you walk out the door and you take a shower and you feel like you need another shower. we will stay in the 50's to day it should be pleasant and

york stock exchange and boy, what a day, another milk day for asian market and wild ride for american markets yesterday. today i think everybody has their fingers crossed at 9:30 a.m., jill, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, erika and nicole. china's a composite closed down 1 percent after yesterday's interest rate cut, japan's market rebounded. mixed day in asia but we could be in for another wild ride on wall street. yesterday dow jones finish down 205. nasdaq fell 19. anyone watching know those numbers do not tell the whole story. stocks surged at the open. dow jones was up 441 points. the rally was wiped out, by a stunning sell off in that last hour of trading. the dow jones actually saw its biggest one day reversal since 2008. what today will bring? who knows. nicole and erika. >> yeah, jill, we're always hearing about the outcome of the day but what is behind these crazy swings? what makes that sort of thing

happen? >> reporter: well, investors are really concerned about china's economy and whether a slow down there will spread to other market. remember china is one of the biggest trading partners to the united states. chinese consumers are a huge market for american companies, like apple, and the other things to remember economist says the market hasn't had a correction in about four years so they are overdue. nicole and erika, i have been down here at the stock exchange for a year and a half? for most of this time the the markets has gone up, up, up and whole time i had investors saying we are due for a correction. so this rally that we saw with the markets but in one really believed in it, who knows what to make of this all. >> due for a correction but does not make looking for your 401k in the morning any easier. >> let's correct, the the correction. >> jill, thanks. coming up next after the break lets get another check of our weather an tra
