yesterday, kyla, both were bearers of good news for the most part, even traffic was looking busy but good. i know in the weather department you got it east. >> i and i got it tell you i'll tee you up again today, very well with the weather. so we've got another fantastic day of weather. i like this, this is like my new routine, i come, in talk about how gorgeous it is, i go out, sit if the sunshine, then talk about the weather some more. we do have some heat coming our ways, thing about to change, but today very nice. where we are right now, our live neighborhood network. you can see new castle that is 60 degrees, point pleasant beach, 63, 63 in philadelphia, and drexel hill, 616789 notice that the winds is out of the north-northwest, so that you can see there, that's going to be shifting and changing around as we head in the next few days, beautiful shot of the moon here, we take live look at the temperature in philadelphia, 66 degrees, humidity about 65%. you can see the moon almost full. i assure you it is not crossing across the screen, i think just adjusting there, beautiful. you have to get up early, at least take a look at that, take a look at this, storm scan3, absolutely clear,

gorgeous it, means another day of those wonderful blue skies, coming your way, so today expecting sunshine, high of 84, in philly at the shore about 78, another real nice beach day out there, mostly sunny in the poconos, a well, 74 degrees four. but this is the last day of the below average temperatures, as we get into the weekends, we're going to crank that heat up a notch. details on that when i come back in your seven day forecast. but meisha, how are we doing on traffic? i see lights behind you. >> this is construction, that's good. as long as i can say it is not an accident, that we're in the clear. but, kyla, bringing the heat again, thank you for. that will still dark out there. but it is friday, everyone in good spirits, here's the construction, woodhaven road eastbound at bristol pike, the camera, construction between the boulevard and 95, in the left lane. you can see a lot of shiny lights, not causing any slow downs, but just see the travelers trying to move through the construction zone ever so slowly, which is he can actually what they should be doing, just they don't have a lot of company out there. here is a look at the ben franklin bridge, beautiful

shot of all of the light again still dark out there, still early for those every you coming in from jersey looking good. both across the ben franklin bridge and also 42 freeway northbound at creek road. as you approach 295, this is what you are looking at. looks great here. in fact, this is very light. even yesterday, we saw little bit more volume on the 42, even starting in the 4:00 hour. so right now looking real good there. going to the wide, he can actually what we opportunity see in both the 4:00 and the 5:00 hour. we love course seat levels change as we move into the 6:00 hour. so far so good. good morning, nicole. >> meisha, thank you. new this morning, traffic stop turns into crash. a carjacking also, a robbery and kidnapped in south philadelphia. police say they pulled over this mustang, at 19th and camac street overnight. but the driver took off and crashed, instead of giving up, police say the driver carjacked the nissan in front after police officer. >> when he took off, they were two females in the back seat of that car that he had just carjacked, a 22 year old and 23 year old female.

seventeenth district police witness in the carjacking, and went into pursuit. >> after driving down few blocks, police say, that suspect got out, fled on foot. one of the women in the car then drove to ninth and ritner, where they flagged down a police officer. police say they know exactly who they are looking for. suspect former inmate who left behind prison issued i.d. card. >> well, teachers struggling district, decide to for go paychecks, in order to start school on time. the chester upland school district is in the middle of budget crisis. state law requires chester and other similar district to continue to pay charter schools in the area. but, the district can't pay that, and every day operating costs. teachers and support staff voted to keep the classrooms open despite not getting paid. >> this is not a problem of their making, not a problem of our making, and we just want to do what's right and give these kids everything that they deserve. >> then when they actually care about us, and they want us to get our education, to be

able to be something when when we grow up. >> how about that? governor wolf's office asked them to, could be fixed when state budget set passed. deadline by the way july 1st. new this morning, male victim injured during on campus shooting at savannah state university in georgia has died overnight from his injuries. the shooting last night, prompted a lockdown, which has since been left dollars. local reports say the shooting began after argument, and there is no word on arrests. the roanoke virginia community is remembering the news crew gunned down by a former co-worker. dozens gathered for candlelight vigil last night, they sang, they prayed for wdbj reporter alison parker and cameraman adam ward. there was also stop the violence rally outside the station's headquarters. >> meanwhile, police search vester flanagan's apartment for clues not former reporter's troubled past. flanagan, known on air as bryce williams, shot and killed the news crew during a live interview on wednesday. he later killed himself.

police also searched flanagan's car and recovered a pistol and ammunition, along with a briefcase with a three license plates, also a wig and a black hat. there was a to do list inside his car, as well. alison parker's father vows to fight gun violence. >> my mission now is i'm going to make, you know, her life better as it were, and i'm going to do everything i can to try and strengthen gun control laws where crazy people don't get a gun. i mean, this guy, i mean, he was crazy. >> wdbj fired flanagan back in 2013 for behavioral issues. >> brazen jewelry store heist caught on camera in hamilton, mercer county. video shows two maas being want its breaking in through side glass window, and once inside the quaker bridge road store they smashed several display cases stole several thousand dollars in jewelry. they got away in a dark colored four door vehicle parked in the parking lot

across from the store. and if you can identify the suspect, you're asked to call police. well, sports fans are mourning the loss of darryl dawkins this morning, the one and only chocolate thunder whose backboard bashing exploits will live on in philadelphia sport history. the first high school player ever drafted in the first rounds, dawkins joined the sixers back in 1975, and established himself as a great player and a big personality. dawkins displayed his talent on the court and his love for the fans over 14 seasons. darryl dawkins died yesterday after heart attack, he was 58 years old. coming up reaction from fans, friends, and athletes in sport. >> it is 4:37 right now. pope francis arrives here in philadelphia in less than a month. despite what you may have heard, city has plenty of room for the those making the pilgrimage. plenty of rail cases if you need to get in the city, 200,000 passes, half of the 350,000 made available. >> i don't know the reason why

>> prep obama in the city for the tenth anniversary of hurricane katrina. hard to believe it has been this long. yesterday the president visited one of several neighborhoods devastated by the storm back in 2005. now, newtown homes line the streets, the federal government has poured billions of dollars into recovery effort there, and the president prom ills dollars the country will protect the city against the next storm. >> what you're seeing here is a example of the incredible federal, state, local partnerships that have helped to revitalize this community. >> across the golf region, nearly 2,000 people were killed, at least 100 force from the their homes when katrina made landfall. road to full recovery of course will likely continue for decades to come. while the country remembers cat reason, a bracing for another hurricane that could hit florida tropical storm erika slammed into the caribbean island of dominica. four people died in severe flooding and mudslides there.

erika takes aim at puerto rico, could reach florida as hurricane by monday, someone who knows much more about all of this, and dow; kyla grogan, so what do we know so far about this storm system. >> so far, i mean, we think it will be capable of brink ago lot of rain into florida. we'll have to see exactly what the path is, but mod rest starting to come into concensus when they think it will go. it does take it right into florida. so i opportunity show everybody, we start off today, casino of do update where tropical storm erika is right now. you can see, it is kind of in the lesser antilles area. winds sustained about 45 miles per hour, so actually little slower than it was yesterday at this time. pressure about a thousand seven millie bars, so again, about to where we were yesterday there too. this is the path, predicted path, see as we get into sunday, that will be the time frame to start watching for how exactly it will impact florida. as a category one, what it is now predicted to enter the state as, and really the biggest concern will be rainfall, probably storm surge, and talking rain fail, a lot every rainfall.

florida does get a loft rain, i grew up there as part of my childhood, when talking, three, four, 5 inches of rain, you can see in the red and the orange, that's something to keep an eye on, particularly the coast areas, which are going to be the lower lying areas, where you can get trouble very quickly. so one to watch, i know people going on vacation down to that part of the country certainly concerned about this. you have reason to be concerned. we'll keep you posted as we go along. temperatures as we head back home, 66 degrees in philadelphia, mount pocono, 50 degrees for you, lancaster about 56. and 59 degrees down in wildwood. so starting offer nice mild day again. take a look at storm scan3. beautiful blue skies. this time, i do have little something to show you. you can see we've got front that will be tracking our way right now, it is over part of iowa, upper midwest, won't cause us big problems, but the next thing i'll be keeping an eye on. also keeping an eye on temperatures, jet stream opening up door, letting warm air in. mild run of temperatures is about to come to a close everybody. we will be heating back up. the average high this time of year about 84 degrees, look what happens, you get into

saturday, sunday, monday, tuesday, keeps going. soap, we are going to be dealing with that heat, and also, this high pressure is finally going to start sliding out. we will start to see low pressure tracking in. at this point as you can see sunday afternoon it does look like we are not going to get a lot out of this. it kinds of dissipates. but once you keep an eye on there, too, sunday afternoon to monday. today beautiful, 84 degrees, abundant sunshine. i like that forecast again. clear, comfortable tonight, low of six a f we take a look at your seven day forecast, there it is, one more gorgeous day today before you get to the upper 80s, even 90s coming our way as we start our week next week. little cloudy sunday, too, nicole. >> all-in-all, not a bad stretch, kyla, thank. sports community is reacting to the death of darryl dawkins, and the tweets just coming in from everywhere. nba first rounds pick carl anthony says dawkins was close family friends every his. he says i'm going to miss you so much, uncle darryl. there will never be another chocolate thunder. former six 6ers great allen iverson also tweeting, saying, condolances to the family of

darryl dawkins, great man, your smile, your personality, energy, will truly be missed. other philly sport figures remember chocolate thunder, former phillie dick allen treated sad news today. i just hope they have break away rims in heaven. eagles great brian dawkins tweeting man this really hit close to home. rip darryl dawkins a lot of folks remembering that man. >> well, tomorrow night the eagles starters will get big test, they will get most of the playing time against aaron rogers and the greenbay packers at lambeau field. coach chip kelly won't say how much time quarterback sam bradford will see, but he likes his progress so far. >> i think he is better today than he was when he started on august 1st, and i think he is continuing to get comfortable in what we're doing. and i see him, you know, moth making the same mistakes. i think he is really coachable guy. and i think he has great understanding of the game of football. that's good to hear. phillies play the padres tonight in south philadelphia. talking baseball now, after working over time in the finale against the first place

asian markets soared this morning, following another really big day on wall street. dow jumped 369 points yesterday, and if you combine that with wednesday's gains, that means the dow has now recouped nearly half of its losses following that six-day sell-off. and it came after government data showed that the us economy grew faster than expected in the second quarter. what today bridges, is anyone's guess. we'll see. nicole? >> for sure, all wait to go see. jill, apple apparently sends being out invites for its next big event. will they be introducing certain device or devices on september 9th? what's happening there? >> yes, well, experts are expecting new iphone 6s and 6s plus. and it is supposed to come with four touch screens, faster processers, also better camera that comes with a front facing flash for selfies, of course. and apple is also expected to throw out new apple tv with sewer i voice control. got to love that they're putting a front flash in for selfies, unbelievable. >> i mean, how have we gone this long without one, really?

traffic center good morning, tgif. we all made t wouldn't even matter if it was 2:00 a.m. right now because it is friday, right? just nothing matters, everything goes. traffic, i'm going to have you dates in a second. but kyla, how are we looking outside. >> more like how am i feeling outside? i feel chill in the air this morning, i have to say, first time out here, that i walked out and went eww, little chilly. not complaining. it will be lovely day today. but you might feel that, too, when you walk out the door. in fact, let's take a look at the current temperatures right now, 64 degrees in philadelphia, look at mount pocono, 49, i have not seen that, since i've gotten here 40's there in the morning, about 57 atlantic city. so all starting offer very mild, a little bit after fresh kick in the air. we've got storm scan3 looking fantastic yet again today. expecting blue skies, and as you can see, it is just looking great. nice and clear, all along that eastern seaboard. all up and down the i95 corridor. we are going to see temperatures start to change, though, so this will be the last day that we will see that at or below
