♪ developing this noon, four people two adults and their two children found dead in a burning house in monmouth county overnight now, authorities are asking this, was it a murder suicide? >> hello i'm pat chiarocchi. >> i'm erika von tiehl. that fire broke out just before midnight in the shore town of long branch, monmouth county. that's where "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria huff joins us now. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. investigators with the monmouth county fire marshals office have been on scene all morning and it's one of those stories that only seems to get devastating as

time goes on. originally we knew four people including two children died due to injuries sustained inside of this home on julie avenue in long branch. the county prosecutors office now says that all of those people showed signs of injuries unrelated to the fire. the fire itself does not appear accidental. they are also dabbling with the possibility that this could have been a murder/suicide. now crews were called here late last night. but were unable to reach the second floor where all four were. those victims have been identified 35-year-old linda, 29-year-old amanda morris and children brandon and brian. who are seven and four years o old. a witness describes to us this desperate attempts to try and reach this young family. >> we were trying to knock the door down and trying to get in to try to help save some of the people that were in there. so that's what i could see from this point, you know. >> reporter: they just couldn't get past the doors? >> no. >> i can tell you that looking at this scene, at this point in time, that when the fire

department went inside, that they located more than one origin of this fire. we can tell that you based upon what we see, that this is not an accidental fire. that we are looking at this as a potential intentional fire that was set. >> reporter: short time ago i spoke with another witness who told me before he saw smoke out here he actually heard a zero receives loud bangs when he came out here he told mow he was surprised that he didn't see people escaping this home because he said the fire didn't seem to be that big at the time. it seems like we might be understanding why nobody was leaving this home. but fire officials do point out that from here it doesn't look like it was all that severe, but they say a lot of this damage was really isolated to the second floor. it made them unable to get to this family. so obviously this investigation is be on going and we will stay on this and bring updates as soon as we can. fora reporting live in monmouth county, alex ian degree ya huff,

cbs3 "eyewitness news". turn to our forecast right now, sepsis sell continues. another 90 plus degree day outsidoutoutside oh kyla on the. we got to get you back into the ac soon. >> the hair is growing with the humidity out here. it is another day we started off hazy but the heat is on. and we're all right in the mid 80s and this is another day in the heat wave that we've had. let's take look at this. you can see this will be day 44 of that 99 plus degree heat and we have one more to go before we see some relief. temperatures right now we're already in the mid 80s. 85 degrees in philadelphia. you can see 86 down in atlantic city. 78 if you're up at mount pocono. that's where the cool air is again relatively clear today. you do see we have some clouds kind of high clouds up there that is helping us a little bit and that fog also but i tell that you sun is making it threw i can certainly feel it standing out here. all right. so here's the thing to know. labor day it is just five days away and i know everyone wants

men on foot. so far a massive manhunt involving hundreds of officers helicopters and dozens of police dogs have come up empty. police want residents to be look out for the suspects described as two white men and one black. >> continue to check for suspicious activity. we want the fox lake community to know if that that's right safe and know we're out there. >> reporter: lieutenant glenn witch was the department for three decades. was a mentor to young people who wanted to become police officers. >> after thing like it will make me push myself more to become a police officer. >> it doesn't make you nervous. >> not at all. >> reporter: beyond the hundreds he inspired lieutenant gliniewitz leaves mind four sons an wife. the 52-year-old was set to retire next month. jamie, cbs news, fox lake illinois. >> a judge in ball baltimore denied a motion to dismiss charges against six police officers in the death of a man in their custody. >> what do we want? >> justice ! >> when do we want it? now!

>> protesteprotesters demonstrad outside the baltimore courthouse today. a judge will now decide if those six officers should be tried together or separately. freddie gray died of spinal cord injuries in custody. the officers are not in the courtroom. there's another hearing coming up on september 10th. >> philadelphia police say that at least one security camera captured video of a deadly shooting overnight in west philadelphia. two people were shot late last night at 62nd and mark streets in west philadelphia. police found 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died. during the investigation, they learned a 36-year-old man was also shot and that more than one shooter is involved in this ca case. >> we found 21 spent shell casings of those 21 spent shell casings there were three separate caliber so we know it's three separate semi-automatic hand guns used. >> the second shooting victim is in stable condition.

there are several businesses along the 6100 block of market with cameras. police are saying they at least will capture at least one captured video of that shooting. democratic senator barbara mikulski of maryland she will support the nuclear deal with iran ensuring landmark passage of that agreement. the announce many comes as second of state john kerry promotes the deal within the hour at philadelphia potions constitution center. >> without this agreement, the iranians would have several potential pathways to a bomb. with it, they won't have any. >> secretary kerry also sent a letter to congress outlining security commitments to israel and other gulf states. the deal was opposed by israel and its allies who spent millions trying to turn congress against it. fans right now are flocking to the atlantic city boardwalk this noon to see the 2015 atlantic city air show. reporter cleve bryan is there. he's got the best seat in the house. cleve g afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. i'm standing here at the top of the dune looking down at this enormous crowd that are here to see all of the wonderful performers right now we're having an aerobatic display from lucas oil with pilot mike. he's doing a pass right now by the crowd. you can see he's getting down very close to the ocean before flying up high spinning and he's going to started to a tumble down back towards the earth. it is little bit hard to see as you get close to the sun very bright definitely squinting as you look up you need powerful sunglasses. we just had a wonderful patriotic tribute with singer lee greenwood singing the national anthem and sky divers with the american flag heading down towards the earth landing on the beach. this is a jam packed event tod today. we have a full display of entertainers that will be going on until 5:00 o'clock this afternoon with of course the main event late this afternoon. we will see the navy blue angels

as they just really provide that thunder for thunder over the boardwalk. one sad note today tribute for pilot andrew wright who passed away over the weekend. he was supposed to be a performer here. also, a tribute for a sergeant from the army who was part of the golden knights parachute team that passed away two weeks ago. so something that people will be thinking about as they enjoy the show just the risk that some of the performers put on here. but this is just one of the biggest events for atlantic city throughout the year. they expect about half a million people or more up and down from ocean city up to brigantine, and you can see this all along the beach. it is the little bit hazy but there is certainly plenty to enjoy. reporting live in atlantic city, cleve bryan cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> cleve, thanks very much. it looks almost like the plane was making a heart in the sky. just great event every year. >> it sure is. coming up here on cbs3 "eyewitness news" this noon, the

>> not so much today. not so much tomorrow. but if perhaps you're heading to the shore this weekend, i think you're going to like what i've got to tell you. we've got some more meet to get through. we had a little fog this morning. hazy out there but it certainly plenty humid but we're heading towards the weekend i've got a stellar forecast for you. so let's get to it. let's take live look right now. you're looking at ocean city where it is a little hazy today and, yes, it is warm out there everybody. we're going to see more 90-degree heat in the city and upper 80s mid to upper 80s out in ocean city, too. but we'll get better. it's going to be better i promise that you. let's take look where we're at right now. so we're warming up. check out millville. all right at 87 degrees. 85 in philadelphia. 85 in reading. you see an 86 there in allentown and check out atlantic city. mentioning down the shore also warm and boy, oh, boy look at our neighbors to the north and south. 80s up in new york city. but 93 in richmond v have a. so high pressure is in control and it really has a hold on the region. very light clouds kind of moving in. i want to important out there are a few little popcorn

thunderstorms there in the southwest corner of pennsylvania. not expecting any of that to track towards us for now. and hey take a look at kutztown 84 degrees and got that beautiful sunshine out there. it's a very pretty day but it is a very warm day. dew points here in the 60s and 70's. look at dover there. dew .74. and that is relatively close to our temperatures you got lots of moisture in the air. 95 degrees that's where what we hit yesterday by the way that tied for the hottest day of 2015. and we're looking at potential 90s again today. so this is the run that we've of our heat wave the nipping one we've had so far this year you think about it average temperature supposed to be in the 80s tomorrow another hot one as high pressure stays in control. we've got relieve in the form of a back door cold front. you see just kind of slices in there. a few isolat isolated storms con that will cool us down as we head towards the weekend. so some sunny, nice temperatures expected. this is the shore for your weekend you'll love this upper 70s and 80-degree mark for monday. beautiful sunshine.
