getting plenty of warmth. >> plans to go this weekend and looking good. cooler.s to go this weekend sunshine so bring sun block you will need it this weekend. the looks great. we will go outside, even in center city, it is down right hot at this hour. we're talking about mid 90's. that sun blaring out there. humidity could be worse so at least we're thankful for that but it is hot to day hottest day, up to 96 degrees. again, this is day number five of the fifth heat wave of the season and it is our hottest one as we have the core of the heat over us past couple days. tuesday we had a high of 95 and today 96. this is last day of this heat wave but there are signs of heat returning next week. we will talk about that later. it has been dry. we have not had a lot of rain. this is drought monitor. area is yellow for new jersey. that is indicating abnormally dry conditions. but you head to northern new jersey into parts of the southern new england we have a maryland rate drought situation developing. we could use some rain.

we will get a little tomorrow but not a whole lot as this persistent dry weather continues to hold over the region. ninety-four in trenton, philadelphia. eighty-three mount pocono. breaking out to the far north. we will get to that in a bit. how will it feel tomorrow? still on the humid side but gets better. we will not call it steamy looking for pleasant conditions wait for saturday and sunday feeling nice. labor day that may increase humidity a little bit. dry philadelphia south and east. included trying to develop from the north and west. spotty showers and thunderstorms break out over the mountains as they push southward. they will diminish throughout the evening hours as we lose heating from the sun. another reason why we are seeing showers is cold front to our north. check it out these were highs today on the south side of the front, mid 90's around philadelphia get to the other side of the front temperatures in the 70's. that front pushes southward for friday, so that brings in the cooler air. you can see wind arrows off the ocean so we are talking about 80 degrees returning friday afternoon. through the evening hours some

can expect. >> that is right, we have crunched numbers. estimates point to good news for drivers and good news for the economy as the the summer travel season unofficially draws to a close. summer travel season is expect to end on a high note. >> we're expecting big things this labor day, some 35.5 million americans will take to the roads and to air, and that is huge for our economy. >> reporter: u.s. travel association estimates that labor day travel will generate $13.5 billion in spending. an increase of 2 percent over last year. even with the recent dives in gas prices. the gas prices are nearly a dollar lower then this time last year, labor day prices haven't been this low since 2004. drivers will spend an average of $270 on their long weekend road trips. more than 14 in million people are expected to fly around the holiday, up 3 percent from last year. airfares have also eased as well, but demand remains steady so consumers may not find those last minute

>> reporter: that is how some feel about the desecration of this sign at the south jersey shore, in galloway. overnight someone defaced their black lives matter sign by spray painting word all over the word black. >> it was a cowardly thing to do. you know, in the middle of the night, coming in and spray painting. with white paint, so it really shows up. it was a cowardly thing to do. >> reporter: two sundays ago the the congregation put sign out front of their building on pamona road next to stockton college. the it is founded on principals of human tolerance rather than specific religious beliefs and one of the big statements they see about when it comes to respecting black people. >> it is about the critical situation that is occurring, long before the movement, if you will, of black lives in the united states. >> we acknowledge all lives matter, but blacks

historically have not mattered. >> reporter: since putting up the sign the congregation has received a lot of response, some positive but some critical, but this act of vandalism is most extreme backlash. >> i'd like to ask the person, i wish they stuck around to have a conversation with me bit. >> reporter: i spoke with the congregation's pastor hoist out of town. they are still trying to decide what they want to do now with the defaced sign. do they leave it down until it is fix or do they put it back out here, as is. well, they are upset about the sign the silver lining is it can keep discussion going about the civil rights n galloway, cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". former bookkeeper is behind bars in delaware county, accused of stealing more than half million-dollar, from the company in collindale where he worked. police arrested jeffery in mcilroy last week. he spent 13 years working a at power source repair and prosecutors say he stole about, $695,000 using the owner's line of credit. he is in jail after failing to post bail.

surveillance video has been handed over into evidence to home land security in the hunt for three men who shot and killed an illinois police officer. this comes after a tip overnight turned out to be a hoax. fox late police prosecutor joe gliniewicz was killed tuesday. kristin kieffer said she noticed suspicious men. after five hours after an exhaustive search she confessed she made the whole thing up. >> last night was an unfortunate incident. it tied up a number of resources, including my detectives who were called in and put on stand by . they could have been out there in the field following up on leads. >> kieffer is now, in jail, on a $100,000 bail and facing felony charges. authorities say that they are not sure if the killers are still in the area. g.o.p. presidential front run are donald trump signs a pledge ruling out a third party run and to support the eventual republican nominee whoever it may be. billion air businessman announced his decision in a news conference today in trump

victory. a federal judge judge erased a four game suspension, the the nfl gave brady for his role in using under inflated footballs in last season's afc championship game. >> i don't think he did anything wrong. truth prevailed itself. he choked under pressure. >> reporter: despite ruling nfl commissioner roger goodell is not backing down and is a appealing. he released a statement that says quote the the commissioner's responsibility to secure the competitive fairness of our game is a paramount principal. judge ruled that the nfl over stepped its authority in issuing a punishment and it had several legal deficiencies. they include inadequate notice about the the discipline wow face and equivalent to a player who used performance enhancing drugs. that brady was not allowed to question one of the two lead investigators. also, that brady was not allowed to access investigative files. >> you read the 40 page verdict, it is very pointed at

we will get cooler though along the shore points this weekend. we are talking about upper 70's as wind kicks in from the the ocean. the lets come back home and check with the weather watchers from the surrounding suburbs and still our current temperatures well in the low to mid 90's, showing up even toward the coast. we are talking about upper 80's but again, another day with some impressive high temperatures. check it out levittown, william tops the weather watchers in at 96 degrees as well as phil chapline in philadelphia we hit 96 at the airport. ninety-five in blue bell. lawrenceville, new jersey, peter in the low to mid 90's. ocean city coming in there at 93 degrees as well. then we have numbers continuing out in new london township, chester county at the 90 degrees for this afternoon's high temperature. here's is what happening as far as today. hottest day of the year. normal high 82. we are running 14 degrees above average as we rack up the on degree days. that puts us on the list of 33. we are tied 2011.
