>> ♪ >> from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia, this is cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> right now at 6:30 a live look over center city philadelphia where labor day weekend is currently in full swing. good evening everyone, i'm natasha brown. thanks so much for joining us. it's been a beautiful labor day weekend so far and everyone is hoping it stays that way for monday.

meteorologist justin drabick is in our weather center with a first look at the forecast. >> natasha, i bring some good news. looks like this trend is going to continue. we'll keep things nice and dry. a lot of sunshine in our forecast. however temperatures start to heat up a little bit and we're talking about more humid conditions but it was warm today. 88 degrees was the actual high temperature at philadelphia international airport. 81 is where we should be. record high is 95. we're not there. humidity levels are on the lower side today. so, it does feel okay even though the sunshine still pretty much warming things up nicely. 86 degrees currently at the airport. upper 70's in south jersey. a nice breeze coming off the ocean. ocean water at 77 degrees. the farther away you are from the coastline the warmer you are this evening. we'll keep things drive. notice the wind direction coming right off the ocean. an easterly breeze, 75 degrees in stone harbor this evening, 78 in rehoboth beach. so a comfortable evening down across the jersey shore and delaware beaches. there's that comfort index. dewpoint temperature is low. right around 49 degrees. last week we were well into the 60's so we had the steamy

feel to the air mass. right now we'll call it awesome with the humidity but that starts to increase as we head through the upcoming week. a few fair weather clouds passing by. if you have outdoor plans this evening and tonight and your labor day forecast looks great. pit hitly pool, the beach, whatever, it looks good. 90 degrees for philadelphia, nice and sunny at the shore. we'll talk about a hot seven-day forecast coming up in just a few more minutes in the full forecast. we'll show you that. >> justin thank you so much. and of course plenty of holiday weekend fun down the shore as well. this is a live look at the beaches of ocean city where it looks like everyone is soaking up the sun before it gets dark. we're in the midst of day two of made in america. an estimated 70's thousand music lovers have swarmed the ben franklin parkway for one last bash before summer ends. with five stages, 62 acts, there is pretty much something for everyone as long as you don't mind all those people in

those huge crowds. today's big headliner is the weekend. the festival was founded back in 2012 by rap mogul jay-z as a way to fuse music and culture. now the weather certainly perfect for both indoor and outdoor activities this labor day weekend. we've compiled a complete list of fun for the entire family. just led to our web site cbsphilly.com. and now a disturbing picture has been shared thousands of times all over social media. a rider claims that bed bugs were crawling on at least one septa bus. alex hoff spoke with the south philadelphia man who says that he saw for himself those insects. she's live at the olney transportation center with more. alex. >> reporter: well, natasha, i was told that this picture was taken around 8:00 p.m. on friday on a route six bus. now, septa has since pulled all the buses that could have been in the area at that time out of circulation so that they could be fumigated.

between twitter, instagram and facebook, this photo has been shared over 10,000 times in just two days. >> look between the cracks of the seats and i was like, oh, my gosh, that's a bed bug. >> reporter: robert roberts jr. was sitting in the back of a route six bus friday evening. he says he immediately told the driver about the discovery and then shouted to fellow passengers. >> i said, yo', this bus got bed bugs so everybody got off the bus and they ran. >> reporter: many of them running to post on social media and that's where septa was brought in the loop. >> as soon as we saw the tweets and the instagram information about it, we contacted the person who took those photos and said where did you see this? >> reporter: this picture was apparently taken around the olney oregon area a-route map specified that the bus in question could have been one of three. >> we took those off the street and we're going to fumigate them immediately.

>> reporter: septa's jerry williams says buses are cleaned every day. >> every two weeks we do a full housecleaning. we go through, we actually wipe down the inside of the bus. and then every month, every single month we fumigate our buses. >> reporter: roberts jr. feels that the fumigation schedule should be revved up to two or three times a month, especially on the heels of a new school year and the arrival of pope francis. >> you have people that sleeps on his train and they leave behind these bed bugs and, you know, it's up to septa to get this situated, you know. it's nasty. >> reporter: got itchy thinking about it. septa couldn't confirm for sure if those were bed bugs in that picture but say they have treated the issue as if they definitely were. no word if any other routes have been affected but once again if you take this route six line septa says that the buses in question have been pulled from circulation so they can be cleaned. they also say that they are going to be transitionsying from fabric seats to molded

plastic so they don't have to deal with issues like this. reporting live in north philadelphia, alexandria hoff, cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> alex thank you so much. police meantime in montgomery county are trying to figure out what sparked several car fires in a wyncote apartment building. this is iwitness cam video of this incident which happened late last night. you can see the vehicles burning in the parking lot. fortunately no one was injured and it's still not clear what caused this to happen. also now the vatican announced it will house two migrant families fleeing conflict zones in the middle east and now the pope is asking catholic churches throughout europe to do the same. cbs correspondent brian webb has more. >> ♪ >> reporter: germany opened its arms to over 10,000 refugees sunday, many welcomed with songs, food and candy for children. it's the fraction of the millions fleeing war and poverty in the middle east.

>> planes start to bomb us, okay. >> i left everything. >> reporter: many migrants have been held up in hungary but today government officials allowed thousands without visas to cross the country on trains, buses and on foot. america is being called on to do more. >> over the four years of the a war the u.s. has only taken 1,400 syrian refugees in total. >> reporter: the island of lesbo greece is the first european stop for many migrants. this boat carrying 1800 passengers arrived sunday. locals say boats big and small have been arriving 24/7. but police have clashed with refugees in camp who's are frustrated by the slow admission process. >> there's no bathroom. they don't give us food. they don't give us even something to be warm at night. [speaking foreign language] >> reporter: from saint peter's square, pope francis the grand song of italian immigrants to argentina called on catholics across europe to each take in one migrant

i'm going start going to them now. >> reporter: dozens waited in line for the free cuts that come thanks to a group called barbers who care. they're donating their time to give confidence to kids and savings to parents. >> it's a lot of help and support of my family so we really appreciate it. >> that $10, $15 that it costs to pay for a haircut i can usually use to it get him something epps for school. >> reporter: for the barbers it gives a warm and fuzzing. >> it makes us feel amazing inside. they look up to us. >> reporter: more than 200 boys expected to get free hair cuts. they're getting more than just a shapeup. every boy and girl who attends also gets a free book and more. >> we teamed up with the philadelphia library and reebok initiative makes sure every bo will leave with a book. we'll give away school supplies as well. >> reporter: they'll not only look good.

were west philadelphia cherri gregg for "eyewitness news." >> they're going to look awfully sharp for their first day of school. >> that's huge, that's important. >> that is so important. and this weekend is important. >> very important. coming through here some good weather and pleasant and warm today and the sunshine. tomorrow gets a little bit hot. getting back to around 90 degrees but we'll keep things dry so it looks great for the barbecue plans and labor day pool or trip going on. live look at ocean city, good place to be once again throughout the weekend and tomorrow. nice night shaping up. people still hanging out on the beach. temperatures in the 70's right now. we still have that wind which is gusty yesterday. starting to calm down but it's still coming off the ocean so temperatures right along the coast a little bit cooler at 70 so very pleasant so we'll keep the dry trend going. we'll be heating up the week. that will be the story as far as the temperatures as the summer weather wants to hold on strong for the start of september. average high is 81 degrees. we're going to be well above that tomorrow, near 90. our temperatures actually climb even more on tuesday and wednesday. that's pretty much where we peak and then a downhill trend

for the end of the week. we stay above average for the upcoming next five days or so and i'll show that you in the seven-day forecast. mid 80's still right now. it's for the inland locations. we have the ocean influence along the coastline. that's why we have 70's in wildwood, atlantic city, millville and in dover, delaware but there is a lot of heat developing to our west. that will start to transport itself eastward so we are talking about a hot and more humid forecast coming up. now, the dewpoint temperatures, this tells to us how much humidity is in the air is pretty low. typically you want to be in the 50's to be on a good comfortable level. we're in the 40's right now and take that and enjoy it. different story in south jersey because we have that moisture coming in off the water so dewpoints little bit higher there but inland it's dry for now. going to change though. tomorrow we'll call it humid. start to notice a difference and as we head into the middle of the week, talking about oppressive conditions developing once again for tuesday, wednesday, even into thursday. we are quiet though on storm scan3. high pressure over us. new england blocking any

storms from developing. showers over western pennsylvania. those stay there tonight. high pressure slowly drifts off shore tomorrow, more of a southwesterly wind flow warms us up to around 90 degrees under mostly sunny skies. we're well into the lower 90's on tuesday and wednesday and each day that humidity level starts to increase. then we're talking about some needed rain chances coming in our forecast for the end of the week. now, if you were at the shore, jersey shore, delaware beaches, recover conditions over the weekend. we had a lot of wind kicking up the surf but now those off shore wave heights starting to come down. things are calming down as the wind slacken up. some of the buoys up around seven, 8 feet. safer conditions to enter the ocean. always make sure lifeguards are on duty. as far as our weather goes a-lot of sunshine. wear the sunblock if you're outside. every now and then you might get a fair weather cloud passing by. same story on tuesday. maybe you're extending your holiday one more day. looks good. temperatures tomorrow afternoon well into the 80's, getting close to 90 degrees. even up in the lehigh valley we're approaching the upper 80's for the midafternoon temperatures on monday. here 90 around philadelphia,

trenton and some of the suburbs. stale little cooler near the coast. we should make it into the lower 80's for the shore temperatures. it stays comfortable tonight, mostly clear, 68 degrees for center city, cooler in the suburbs. labor day forecast mostly sunny warmer up around 90 degrees. hitting the shore gain lot of sunshine around tomorrow, warmer, air temperature 82 degrees, ocean water 77. that rip current risk will lower so again a little bit calmer conditions in the water. here's the extended forecast. looks like we have heat wave number six developing this week. lower 90's through thursday. thursday that's our best chance to see some showers and storms. that's the good news. some of those storms could linger into friday and then next weekend if you're looking for some cooler weather looks like the lower 80's return which is average so something for everybody in that forecast but at least labor day is looking dry. enjoy it. >> beautiful. thank you so much justin. lesley will give us sports. >> not so beautiful, we have the two last place teams battling it out. phillies trying to avoid being swept by the red sox at fenway park.

jared eickhoff on the mound for the phils. hit hard in his fourth major league starter. here in the first inning of the game we have david ortiz, this is a two run home run. that's going to give the red sox a two-nothing lead. eickhoff allowed six earned runs in forpinings. as for the phillies we had a lone bright spot for them. cesar hernandez provided the phils first run with a base hit in the third. that drives in gallonvilles. red sox go on to win six to two, the 11th time the phillies have been swept this season. the eagles now have a third string quarterback unone you probably never heard of steven morris off of waivers from jacksonville. he was signed by the jags as a rookie free agent in 2014. now that the eagles have assembled that active roster they put together that practice scott. ed reynolds and dionte skinner. patriots quarterback tom brady spoke to reporters today for the first time since his four game suspension was lifted on thursday. he thanked his family friends
