spunt has new details on what's being done outside the city. david? >> reporter: jessica, we have talked a lot about the effect this papal visit will have on the city, but people in the suburbs are affected, too, we learned more about this tonight. according to the secret service people aren't going to be able to just drive in and out of the city as they please. that means suburban train stations are expected to be packed. as the train pulled into the norristown transportation center wednesday night, those who live nearby are ready for big crowds in two weeks when pope francis comes to town. >> this is a great thing. we're the county seat. norristown. >> reporter: hank is a big pope francis fan. 91-year-old won't make the trip to philadelphia but decided to welcome the pope in his own way from his front porch g his name is francis and my name is francis. i was chris tendon francis. >> reporter: sure the pope won't be anywhere near norristown. but the norristown transportation center is a major player when it comes to funnel link tens of thousands into the

city. >> we're scheduled to have up to 10,000 septa riders come through our rail station in seven-hour period. our concerns are where are they going to park. >> norristown police captain rich callie met with residents to talk about the plan to handle thousands of people who need norristown as a way to get into philadelphia. >> from this point, i think it will be handled fine. >> hopefully it will be pattern on to the point it will be matchable for everyone to get to work. >> radnor township held a similar meeting for people who live there. residents want to know how the visit will affect the suburb. as they met wednesday night 10,000 tickets for the pope's sunday mass on the parkway became available online for free. in minutes, they were gone. the same thing happened 10,000 festival of families tickets at 4:00 in the afternoon. another sign this pope is popular and has no problem bringing in the crowds. there won't be any more chances to get those free tickets according to the world meeting of families but i did some dig

around online even saw very steep prices for pope tickets which were free just few hours ago. the most expensive two tickets for $1,500 if you can believe it. we're live on the parkway, david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> david, thanks so much. new details are released for papal visitor who's plan to walk across the ben franklin bridge. the delaware river port authority says you can bring your bike but you'll have to walk it across. bikes will not ab loud on patco trains. list of prohibited items on the bridge and the train line is the same as the secret service's list and that includes selfie sticks, hard sided coolers and anything made of glass. the bridge will close to vehicular traffic that friday at 10:00 p.m. and reopen at noon on monday. we've also now learned visitors to philadelphia for the pope's visit can camp in fairmount park. camp ground will be called francis fields. campers will enter on 33rd street and make their way to the campground on reservoir drive. the cost is $199 per camper with

additional fees for car and rv parking. the grounds will include showers, first aid supplies, water, food vendors and even a general store. the campground will open on september 24th and close on september 28th. the aramark tower in sent city is now the new home of a retail shop for all things papal visit. the pop up store features official merchandise including t-shirts, hats and toys as well as religion items. new store is only there for a limited time open until september 27th. the closing date for the world meeting of families. we are now just 17 days away from the philadelphia rifle of pope francis. for a complete guide to this historic event go to our website cbsphilly.com and click on the papal visit tab. tonight we're tracking storms that are expected to bring some areas heavy dose of rain tomorrow. meteorologist kate bilo has more on when those storms might arrive. kate. >> s? today, you can see behind me the showers and storms already firing up here on storm scan3. this big batch of rain over northeastern pennsylvania is lifting away from us, but there's more where that kim from

and this line of showers and thunderstorms will continue to push in overnight. also you can see at least light showers right now moving into the state of delaware. as we zoom in again a few light showers delaware into cumberland and salem counties here in new jersey an few showers and storms over portions of the lehigh valley and the poconos. so what to expect overnight very warm, it's very steamy, scattered showers at any time. overnight there could be some locally heavy downpours as well. showers and storms at any time on your thursday and again the rain could be heavy at times watch for ponding and this could impact both commutes but especially tomorrow afternoon and evening. it's now heat wave number six as we hit 93 today. but we cut that down at the 80s tomorrow and friday. mainly because it's a cloud cover and the increase in showers and storms but right now it's still 81 degrees in philadelphia. 81 in wilmington and it's still feels like the mid 80s out there very very steamy and it will ab steamer day tomorrow as well. then but big changes once we get the storms out of here i'll have more on that coming up with the full forecast. >> jessica. >> kate see you then thank you. mastermind charged in what

became known as the basement of horrors case now faces live in prison after pleading guilty today. tonight only "eyewitness news" talked to one of those victims and our natasha brown is live at the federal courthouse with this story. natasha? >> reporter: jessica, linda west in will face life in prison plus 80 years when she's sentenced in notify. for one of her victim no amount of time can erase the unmatchable violence she endured. >> my head where linda hit with with a bat and my leg. i had seven broken bones. >> tamara still wears the deep scars from broken bones but her spirit is unbroken. >> hi everybody. >> tamara is now nestled safely in the care of her parents. a far cry where police found her in october of 2011. lock away in a dark basement of horrors in tacony with three other mentally disable adults they were living in squaller, malnourished and beaten with

bats and hammers. man was chained to boiler on wednesday 5584 old linda west in plead guilty to one nick counts against her in this case. the mastermind prosecutors say behind forcing mentally disable adults to designate her as their caregiver. allowing her to illegal collect 212,000 doltz in social security checks over the course of 10 years. >> by her enter as guilty plea to 196 counts today really brings much closer to closure. >> i was scared before. to go outside, to eat anything. i had nightmares every night waking up. >> for 33-year-old tamara the nightmares are disappearing replaced by heart warming images of her 10 month old daughter ava olivia. >> i told god to watch over my family and my kids. and everything be fine for me. >> i thank god the lady pleaded guilty. her and her daughter, and i just thank god all this over with. >> tamara will likely wary these scars forever.

but she's freed by her forgiveness of her captor and her spirit. >> i told god i'm still gorgeous and pretty. i'm a survivor. >> reporter: we can tell you tonight that west in's dawn jean mcintosh and one other coach defendant have plead guilty in this case. and two other co-defendants are still awaiting trial. we're live here at the federal courthouse tonight, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> natasha, thank you. a sting operation results in charges against both and former correctional officers. here are three of the six suspects. brian feels, george kendall and dupree myers accused of of giving inmates drugs and cell phones in he can change for cash. authorities say the guards got 500 to $1,500 for their deliveries. the suspects now face the possibility of decades in pris prison. federal investigators have revealed the cause of the plane crash that willed lewis katz and sick others. the nstb says the crew failed to perform a routine pre flight

to pay it goes straight to the bill once they catch your voice they transfer to you somebody else and then you talk to somebody. >> everybody can understand somebody knocking on your door several times a day. that's harassment. this is the same thing but through her cell phone. >> attorney i didn't go craig kimmel finds suit against the cable giant but not for violating debt collection laws instead of -- >> federal law that says calls to a cell phone without consent are forbidden. >> reporter: it's part of known as the telephone consumer protect act. past in the 1990's, the law was intended mostly to restrict telemarketing calls. for several years ago additional protections were put in place prohibiting companies from calling your cell phone using an automatic telephone dialing system unless you agreed to it first and that includes debt collection calls. and kia elder says she didn't agree to any calls. >> that's why we're filing suit. comcast did not have permission to call her, and under the facts of this particular case the client says she paid the bill back in 2011. so there's really no reason to

"eyewitness news" was there as family and friends look on with pride. these new citizens represent 16 countries and for some the road to this special moment was long. congratulations to all of them. chain restaurants in new york city will soon have to add salt warnings to their menu. the city's board of health voted unanimously to make the first of its kind requirement. that means restaurants will now have to put salt shaker symbols on items have more than remed daily limit of 2300 milligrams of sodium. new rules take effect december 1st. today in san francisco, apple unveiled new products include wagon it calls the future of television. the newest version apple tv features a third party app

so well. >> to look at that old video. >> kate is joining us now with a little changeup. >> yes. finally we'll get rid of this heat and humidity. the humidity will take a little longer than the heat. tomorrow will be another steambath we've got really nice weather to look forward to as we head into the seven day foreca forecast. once we get through tomorrow, most of the forecast looks pretty awesome. so that is some good news. but first, of course, we've got to get through the less awesome part. showers and storms on their way and even overnight tonight a few showers and storms could impact the area. now right now thing are quiet. live on skycam3 here looking out over center city. it's all lit up. butylates dry for the moment. although there are some showers now developing over portions of maryland that are going to be heading into delaware and eventually could impact our area overnight. let's take you out to storm scan3. you can see what we're looking at the front is well back over the great lakes. you can see showers and thunderstorms are proceeding the front along with a lot of humidity it is still a steambath outside. watch the showers over portions of eastern maryland track into delaware and south jersey and again most of these showers and

storms lifting to the north. although there are a few scattered thunderstorms right now trying to pop up over the lehigh valley and into the poconos. you can see them up around allentown. portions of lehigh northampton county seeing rain here tonight. temperatures right now little cooler in allentown thanks to the rain moving n79 right now. mount pocono at 67. still a warm 81 in philadelphia. it's 81 in little creek at the dover air force base. millville still sitting at 80 as is cinnaminson at the eleanor rush elementary school. turning cooler for your thursday. temperatures only in the 80s. but it's still going to feel very soupy out there steamy day. dew points are very high for your thursday. lots of shower and thunderstorm activity we clear that out friday much nicer day. this system will be lurking off to our west on saturday. it will bring a few clouds but the showers should hold off until sunday future weather shows the chance for showers and storms this is 2am and as we set this into motion you'll wake up early thursday morning just to clouds and light drizzle. the good news as far as severe weather is concerned, we don't really have enough sun and

enough heat through the day tomorrow to really generate the risk for widespread severe weather. so while some of these storms that pop up later thursday afternoon could be locally heavy, with heavy rain, the threat for severe weather does seem marginal at best. but watch for some steady rain and some slow downs during your evening commute and this doesn't really clear out until early friday morning. so what to expect tomorrow. showers and storms at any time. heavy rain downpours that's going to be our biggest threat here. about three quarters of an inch to inch and a half of rain we do need the rain too much to soon could lead to the risk for poor drainage flooding. scattered and storms scattered overnight. for your thursday cloudy and humid. very humid. with the high just 81. so it look like the heat wave will definitely come to an end. friday, morning clouds and turning less humid, 82 degrees. saturday look gas partly sunny at 82. again if you hold your hand up over the thursday part of the seven day forecast, the rest of it looks pretty nice. a chance for a couple of showers sunday but then we clear it out and as of now next week looks like the quintessential perfect
