this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". good morning, after heavy rain all through yesterday, and through the evening, too, there is some flooding in the area around our region. but the rain does look like it is moving out. a check on today's forecast and a look at the weekend, too. >> philadelphia residents who live near the ben franklin parkway nervous about the papal visit. more on the heated meeting last night where people who live in the logan square neighborhood made their concerns known. >> worse attack on american soil, we remember, 14 years ago the september 11 attack took place, 18 victims from bucks county. we have live view right here of the garden of reflection in lower makefield. we'll tell you how the victims are being honored today. good morning, today is friday, september 11, i'm erika von tiehl. >> i'm nicole brewer.

a check on traffic and weather together. katie and meisha are here. >> good morning, it is friday, we all want to smile, but i have to same, kai last i walked out of the house this morning and it was raining again. >> i know. but it will get better today. >> good. >> i promise that you. >> so we're hoping hopefully for the morning commute? >> i think things will definitely be most better than yesterday, we will be getting better as we go along instead of getting worse. right now, temperatures pretty mild in the 60s this morning, 68 in philadelphia, newtown square you can see 64, 66 in pemberton, 66, six a bensalem. notice the winds very calm, too. starting off with much nicer situation. we have left over problems, one of them here is a flood warning, you can see this is just south of philadelphia, in parts of gloucester county, and that means, that we still have got water on the roads out there, too. so it is a morning to be careful. you have to take your time. but notice as we take a look at storm scan3, this is what i am talking about, things getting better. see the little drips of rain,

drizzle clearing away, clouds also starting to clear away, so it will be much nicer today. looking around the region, 70s already, down the shore there in atlantic city, about 73 degrees, decrease in clouds, how about little sunshine, and less humidity, everybody. today that's what we are talking about, getting back to average temperatures, so headed in the right direction. that is for sure. we will talk about your weekend forecast, because i know everyone wants to talk about that, meisha, when i come back in just a few. how are the roads? i know it is early. but i would think we will be better than yesterday. >> yes, well, so far so good, kai l things looking really good. much different right now at this exact same moment than it was yesterday. yesterday was so busy right when walked in the studio. right now things are calm, looking really good. here is a look at the schuylkill at girard, light volume out there already in the 4:00 hour, people already hitting roadways, probably knowing from yesterday, that they want to get early jump on things, nine at southbound, just past coat man again. few travelers out there.

thinking about leaving your house any time soon, probably wise choice, you're in good company. here is a look at the ben franklin bridge, for those of you coming eastbound, looking great there. headlights out there traveling from jersey heading into center city, eastbound and westbound, as you head eastbound, into jersey, you can see, you have lost that far right lane due to some construction that's flip flopped. it was the west side, now it is moving in the east side direction. we have downed tree, a car, struck a tree, in pottstown, route 724 is closed between scholl road and catfish lane. so certainly use alternate road around there. then some fun stuff. double-header because it was rained out yesterday. phillies versus the cubs, tonight 5:05 and 8:35, ladies, over to you. >> meisha, thank you. new this morning heavy rains load to flooded out roads in our area, this is route 45 and berkley road in mantua township gloucester county. police have the roadblock off in both ex there, as you can see the water with halfway up the stop sign there. >> 4:33, and we news just over two weeks away from the arrival of pope francis in philadelphia.

not everyone is excited about the visit. the pope's visit has many philadelphians on edge, especially everyone going to the ben franklin parkway, wondering thousand will affect them. >> jan carabeo live for us outside the cathedral bass ill, a where informational session was held last night. hearing it was pretty heated, jan, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, folks who live in this area, well the papal visit will be napping their front yard. they really just want to understand what life is going to look like at the end of september, in both the run up to the papal visit and the big papal visit weekends. people who live in this area specifically the logan square neighborhood association got a chance to meet with city officials last night to discuss some of their concerns and get some of their questions answered. this happened right here at the basilica of saint pete area p and paul, about ooh people met inside with sit officials lalls night. they addressed number of topics including travel within the festival grounds, parking in the area. some residents are pleased with that open dialogue. other say they just don't feel

the city is addressing everyone's needs. >> it is great to have three people have their specific needs set, it is really clear there will be many more people who have situations that the city hasn't really thought through. so, we need the city to be able to be flexible amidst a lot of. >> this. >> reporter: in the meantime, city officials have now detailed a number of other information including parking restrictions, when towing will start in these row strict dollars areas. they've also given out more information about transportation on roads, rales, even on waterways. we will breakdown all of those specifics starting at 5:30 this morning. but for now, re are reporting live in center city, jan carabeo, "eyewitness news". >> good information, jan, thanks. also learning more details that affect people who live and drive within those secure zones, officials showed secret service rendering of what the final security set up will like like here. mayor nutter also announced parking restrictions, resident within the blue secure zones

will need to move their vehicles or face towing, and most of those vehicles will need to be moved by sunday september 20th, but if you have a 20-dollar plaque adder, to park in a ppa garage, then you will have until thursday september 24th to move your vehicle. another option, naval hospital lot at paterson avenue. >> this location has about 1500 parking spots and will be available for free beginning that week. >> to see the list of parking garages and free parking lot available during the papal visit just go to our website cbs-3. com/papal advice. >> i also learned waterways are off limit to boat traffic. us coast guard will establish security zones on portions of the schuylkill and delaware rivers. they'll be in effect from friday september 25th to monday september 28th. now, parts of what will become the papal stage have started to be put in place. workers sat down layer every grounds protection on eakin's oval yesterday. that's going to hold the framework whisk built over the

next few days. pieces of the stage are being trucked in on large pallets. crews are trying their best to protect the ground in the area of the parkway. >> happening today, philadelphia judge will sentence former youth football coach convicted of six sexual assault. jury found liam watson guilty of sexually assaulting six boys, prosecutors want watson to spend the rest of his life in prison. >> the coast guard continues its search for small plane that crash off the jersey shore. the single gin plane went down yesterday afternoon about 7 miles eels of atlantic city. the faa says the mooney a20 left gaylord, michigan, head today atlantic silt international airport. coals guard found scattered debris in the ocean, but no sign of a pilot. sixty-eight year old michael moore. >> any time the sun goes down, it is obviously harder to see things, but we have a lot of asset on scene right now. >> still, no word on what caused that crash. fourteen years ago today, the worse attack on american soil

name and referenced his decorated military service in iraq. all right, coming up on 4:43, some rain continued overnight. this is a look at center city here. but the good news is it is clearing up for today, kyla is joining us now for a check on the forecast, hopefully some good news headed into this friday? >> great napping on the sofa day yesterday. >> oh, cuddled down with little jack and road out the afternoon in inside. >> evening commute, not fun for folks. >> not fun at all. thinking about people yesterday. good news it will definitely get better today. setting ourselves for very nice day, not just the rain will be gone, but humidity levels will be dropping, that's huge for today. set daily records yesterday. you can see there philadelphia 4.76 inches, that was daily record, over 3 inches in milton ville, quarry ville, just under that in valley forge, record there in trenton at about 1.68 inches. so we were deluged with rain. we have been talking about the rain deficit. you can see we had just about an inbetween august 1st and

september 9th. but look at this, yesterday, boom, boy, that changed it, that's what you call a drought buster. so we certainly have caught up. now we do still have flood warning, parts of gloucester county south of philadelphia. a lot of water still out there on the road. we have got it be careful everybody. here is the good news, take a look at storm scan3, these are the drizzles that will trickle out. you can see they are pushing off shore, not only are they going to go, but the clouds eventually are also going to give us a break and start rolling. so it will be nice afternoon. 68 degrees right now, in philadelphia. sixty-six in allentown, millville coming in at about 69. and we're in the 70s in wildwood there. good morning to you. 72 degrees. as we go throughout the afternoon today, so we watch in the morning, clouds start to dissipate. temperatures low 80s, it will be nice out, there and we get some beautiful sunshine as we start to get into the lunchtime hour. now this will push off shore. but we do have another front tracking our way. so while friday will look fantastic, look what happens here, saturday at 8:00 a.m., you start to see this werth off to the west t starts to roll through later on saturday. there is 11:00 p.m. you see showers rolling

through philadelphia. sets us up for little wet weekend, everybody, even sunday, we can continue to see few showers out there. so today we are looking good, high of 82 degrees, less humidity, decrease in clouds tonight, comfortable, low of 65 degrees. and if we take a lock at your seven day forecast, you can see it is a pretty nice day today. we do have to watch out for showers saturday afternoon, i think throughout the day sunday, even though those temperatures dropping down for highs in the 70s, latter part of the weekend. so feels like a decent change. >> making the transition, kyla, thanks. phillies looking for new general manager to lead the team's rebuilding project. the team is not renewing contract of rubin amaro, jr., son of former phillie one time bat boy and player for the phils, amaro joined the phillies front office back in 1998. he became gm after the 2008 world championship and was in office for the three post-season runs that came after. but amaro was at the helm when the team went from first to worse and owner john milton says things needed to change.

kind of continued throughout the morning. so, we don't know if that's going to continue. but the roadways are still certainly wet, from some of the stuff coming down early this morning, and here's a look at the boulevard, southbound at fox street. looking good here. looking quiet. hopefully it stays this way. we know it will not as we move toward the 5:00, 6:00 hour. forty-two northbound, creek road, see it looking real nice on this stretch as well. kai last i don't know how it is looking in the werth department but traffic looking better than yesterday. >> we will see the rain slack off as we get into the latter part of our morning, so things already starting to look better. live look at storm scan3, you can see those little drizzle bit starting to push off. that's going to help us immensely, do have still flood warning south of philadelphia and part of gloucester county, and that you know as meisha was talking about, a lot of water on the road. careful out there everybody. looking good in center city, currently 68 degrees. you do see 9% humidity, part has to do with the early morning, part has to do with the rain moving out. that will will get better for you as we go throughout the

gloucester county this morning. now, that water is starting to recede. so that's good news, and that road should be open soon. the area flood something affecting your morning commute, absolutely, we want to check in with kyla and meisha with a check on that. >> good morning, not kind of the way we want that start off our friday, right? more rain today, temperatures are falling, just little bit kyla, but the roads are actually looking pretty good. we just have two incidents out there that i will touch base on. >> okay, good. >> and iand i'll help you out wh the weather today. yesterday i wasn't able to help you out. it was getting worse as the commute went on. today better. dow want to point out, we have flood warning, take a look at this, this is exactly where mantua; talking about a lot of the flooding is, and just south of philadelphia, part of gloucester county, so heads up, that's probably the biggest trouble spot we have right now. rain amount, check it out, over 4 inches, almost 5 inches every rain in philadelphia, three in abington, north hills over two, same as pottstown, just under two in newtown, i mean, these totals incredible here. see
