morning. now, that water is starting to recede. so that's good news, and that road should be open soon. the area flood something affecting your morning commute, absolutely, we want to check in with kyla and meisha with a check on that. >> good morning, not kind of the way we want that start off our friday, right? more rain today, temperatures are falling, just little bit kyla, but the roads are actually looking pretty good. we just have two incidents out there that i will touch base on. >> okay, good. >> and iand i'll help you out wh the weather today. yesterday i wasn't able to help you out. it was getting worse as the commute went on. today better. dow want to point out, we have flood warning, take a look at this, this is exactly where mantua; talking about a lot of the flooding is, and just south of philadelphia, part of gloucester county, so heads up, that's probably the biggest trouble spot we have right now. rain amount, check it out, over 4 inches, almost 5 inches every rain in philadelphia, three in abington, north hills over two, same as pottstown, just under two in newtown, i mean, these totals incredible here. see glendora over 3 inches,

over 2 inches in clayton, and again, look at dover here, 2.75 inches. we had a lot of daily records set, too. look at this. this year in philadelphia, 35.95 inches. now, we're above average for the year. so that really helps us out. taking a look at storm scan3, you can see, things are moving out, skies are going to be clear, going to be looking good. temperatures around the area right now in the 60s, 68 in philadelphia. but 71 down in wildwood. at the shore there in the 70s, already, today. unfortunately, we have a front tracking toward us, guys, for the weekends, too, so it won't and great beach weekend. looking at the weaken "shorecast", you can see 70s, meisha, a i do have little more rain to talk about when we go to talk about the weekends. so bet they are morning, though. let's focus on the positive, right? >> let's do. that will kyla, you are speaking my language, absolutely. flashing light outside already. that could be -- not to be the bearer of bad news, not causing any myfoxphilly.com, this is an accident we have the blue route southbound at the off ramp to saint david's, route 30, you can see a lot of stuff going on here, blog that off ramp. but again, it is still very

early, starting to see some of the brake lights going on. but that's more people driving by, taking a peak at what's going on, everyone's still traveling at posted speeds in that area. that will change. if they don't get that on the way. shear lock at the vine to and from the schuylkill, looking good, still nice and quiet. we will of course even though it is a friday when we get wet roadways, see levels build even on a friday. here is a look at the ben franklin bridge, looking great for those every you coming from jersey over into center city there. just remember, that as you move in the eastbound direction, into jersey, you have lost that far right lane on the ben franklin bridge. and that swap from the west side. this is where we had a car struck a tree. route 724 was now closed. that's now since been cleared. that's the good news there. then, some fun stuff, phillies versus the cubs, got double-header last night, it was rained out, all of that rain tonight, they'll be playing 5:05, and 8:35. ladies, over to you. >> meisha, thank you. new this morning, firefighters make quick work after garage fire in delaware county, "eyewitness news" at second and yarnell street in chester just after midnight. the fire reached two alarms

before it was placed under control. the coast guard is searching for a single engine that crashed into the atlantic ocean. >> crashed 7 miles off atlantic city coast around 2:45 yesterday afternoon. the faa says the pilot, michael moore, flew a mooney m20 from gaylord, michigan was on it way to atlantic city international airport. the coast guard found debris in the ocean, but not the pilot. it says choppers were a part of the search. >> right now we have approximately two coast guard small boats on scene, approximately two coals guard cutters and noah ship, new jersey state police and other commercial salvage. >> there is no word on what caused that crash. >> fifteen days and counting until pope francis arrives in philadelphia, and people who live near the ben franklin parkway still have a loft questions about how the pope's advice lit affect their routine. on. that will. >> reporter: we have heards a lot of concerns, people hoping to get into center city seat pope. heard from people living in if in general about moving around the festival ground. but imagine having the papal visit happen literally in your front yard? so a lot of people who live in and around this specific area are having their questions and concerns addressed by city officials. you mention there was big meeting last night between the logan square neighborhood association and city officials, there were about 50 resident who met here at the basilica of saint peter and paul. city officials addressed number of topics including travel within the festival grounds, and parking in the area. now, some resident are pleased with that open dialogue. others, however, say they just don't feel the city addressing everyone's needs. take a listen. >> reporter: what most people would be concerned about, which is whisk able to live their basic lives to go to work, to be able to travel, you know, we have elderly in our neighborhoods, we have immigrants who don't speak english. we've got folks who work out

of the city, and need to move around. we have people who are very sick, and need access to hospitals, and be able to have dialysis treatment, and other types of things. and so it is really important that the city try to find ways of being flexible, with the neighbors who live within these zones. they really just want to know what life will look like at the end of the month when travel is extremely row strict dollars. more details about parking in the area are now coming out. and when towing will begin. we will also getting more information from city officials about travel, including on the roads, the rales, and the waterways. we breakdown all of those specifics in our next half hour. but for now we are live in center city, jan carabeo, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> montgomery countly update the media this morning on their plans for the papal visit. pope francis will be staying at saint charles seminary in lower merion which of course means there will be plenty of closures there, heads up for up. the countly offer details on public transportation, and

also hospital services. also, today, the mural arts program will host a paint day for a mural honoring the pope. >> now despite yesterday's downpours, crews worked to piece together what will become the papal stage. workers sat down layer every ground protection on eakin's oval. that's going to hold the framework whisk built over the next few days. pieces of the stage are being trucked in on large pallet. crews are trying their best to protect the grounds in the area of the parkway. >> 5:06 right now, 14 years after september 11 attacks, america is remembering their victims. >> you are looking at the 9/11 memorial plaza in manhattan. >> this morning families will gather for the tolling of the bells, moments every silence, the reading of the names of nearly 3,000 people killed when two planes crashed into the twin towers. now, 18 of the victims were actually from bucks county, so you are looking live now at the garden of reflection memorial in lower makefield township. this morning it will hold an honor and a remembrance ceremony begins at 8: 30, also prayer service at 7:15 this

evening. at the pentagon, secretary of defense, ash carter, and other officials, will join a remembrances for victim relatives and pentagon employees. there is a moment of silence at 9:37, marking the moment when american airlines flight 77 crashed into the building. fifty-nine passengers and crew died on that plane, along with 125 pentagon workers. the pentagon has unveiled plans for a new visitor education center. it will be across from the pentagon memorial. >> in summerset county, new visitor center expected to draw larger thank normal crowd at the flight 93 national memorial. last night there was candlelight ceremony honor the 33 passengers and seven crew members who were on board that united airlines flight. the plane crashed in a field in shanksville when some on board the plane revolted against the hijack earnings. the center cost $26 million to build. other event to commemorate september 11 are scheduled in the philadelphia region. we have a full list for you on our website cbsphilly.com. well, tomorrow friends and

family will say good-bye to a south jersey teenager who passed away at a sleep over last weekend. a viewing and funeral mass will be held saturday for 14 year old kara. authority say she died in her sleep at the sleep over at a seoul new jersey home last saturday. she was a member of the eastern regional high school girls soccer and lacrosse teams. >> philadelphia police are increasing their patrols in germantown after series of sexual assaults this week. two women were attack tuesday and a third just few days before that. now, one of the tuesday attacks took place in broad daylight on the 5400 block of wakefield street. all victims describe their attacker as black male, about 5-foot six, with thin build, and in his 20's. 5:08 right now. still ahead, football's back. >> patriots and steelers take off the new season. familiar face is missing. we have details coming up in sports. also this. >> i marvel, i marvel at the ability of people to absorb

>> eleven vehicles have been shot on or near i10 in phoenix over the last two weeks. a law enforcement source tells cbs news, some of those bullets came from the same gun, and in some cases, were fired from a moving vehicle. local authority are now working with the fbi and have added extra patrols along the highway. >> in california, a marine is dead, and 18 other injured, after a roll-over crash. it happened during routine training at camp pendleton marine base. military officials not released the identity of the marine killed or the condition of those injured. the cause of the crash is under investigation. >> wipe wild chase ends and suspect dead this morning. police started pursuing the suspect thursday night after he allegedly stole a woman's car. now, that carjacking victim talked about those frightening moment. >> by the time coy react the guy already had the gun on my face, and ... (crying) i just

panic. and i dropped the keys. >> oh, so terrible. now, when police got that suspect to stop, he ran no a restaurant packed with families. witnesses say he fired shots and yelled at the women and children to leave. the swat team moved in, and a shoot-out left the suspect dead, no one else was injured. >> 5:13, turning to the weather high street in montgomery county reopened this morning, this was the scene there yesterday. flooding rains caused portions of the roadway to be closed down, and that rain isn't quite out of here yet, is it, kyla? >> stepping toward much brighter day today. humidity levels are also going to be much lower. so it will feel nice out there. let's take a look at rain totals we have. set daily records including philadelphia, total of 4.76 inches, look at milton, over 3 inches. cory ville, same story, valley forge, just under three. and a daily record set in trenton, at just under 2 inches there. so, it's been rainy run here. now, we had deficit in rain,

from august, and as you can see, yesterday, we certainly made up for that, look at that, 4.76 inches there in one day. >> trouble brewing, another front tracking toward us, will put king in the weekends plans, today looking good, current temperatures in philadelphia, 68 degrees, reading coming in at 67. sixty-one mount pocono this morning, and wildwood, 70 degrees. good morning, everything. taking a look at the region, pretty comfortable throughout. we'll see loft sunshine work its way in today. and most importantly, i think the humidity levels, right, finally going to do. air quality looking good today, pollen level medium, uv index, hi, this is the one i like, the heat index, is none today. that's going to be nice. so we've got this front that's tracking out, that's going to give us beautiful day today. then we have another one tracking toward us, as we head toward the weekends, some storms ahead of that, mean, afternoon thunderstorms for saturday, few showers for sunday, but notice we go into highs in the 70s, on sunday.

and then we finally start to dry out, clear out, looks pretty good headed into monday next week. i know we would rather get the sunshine on the weekends, little tough, but we'll got some today. decrease in clouds, less humidity, high of 82 degrees today. we get into this evening, very. very comfortable, low of six ament look at the seven day forecast, i wish i had sunshine for the whole weekends, folks, looks like the first part of saturday looking good, saturday afternoon watch out. we start to have a little bit of rain coming in, and sunday as well. sunshine comes back, though, monday. look at the highs there in the 70s. >> i think a lot of people will welcome that dry more cool air coming in. good morning, everyone, just joining us, we do have incident here west vine ramp to the skewing. see the schuylkill right up here bottom left part of your screen. see the backups starting to form on the vine because of that. take a look here, to and from the schuylkill. you can see again, the vine

trying to get on the schuylkill. causing problems when we have an incident, also, we do have accident here, the blue route, southbound at the off ramp to saint david's, route 30, you can see pulled all the way off to the right shoulder. , because every flashing lights see people tapping on the brakes, that causes our slow downs. now, let's switch gears, talk about some fun stuff. phillies versus cubs this weekend, we got double-header last night, it was rained out obviously, so even got some downpours today there is morning, and causing some problems out on the roadways, tonight playing 55:00, and at 8:35 p.m. then when we go to the wide, you can see, travel speeds looking okay. >> ladies, over to you. >> philadelphia tribute has honored, was honored at this year's most influencial

african-american awards. mayor michael nutter attended ceremony at the pennsylvania convention center t honored 150 business and education leaders, along with community activists. the list is in sunday's edition of the philadelphia tribute, america's oldest african-american newspaper. >> qvc planning to a off workers, notified the state of their plans to let almost 150 workers go by november, based out of the distribution center in chester county. >> chester countly hold a career fair today for veterans , employers hiring, including aramotorcycle, sherman williams, and also resumes on -- and resume building. veterans of all eras are welcome to attends. >> right now 5:17. time to check your philadelphia job market report. cbs news business analyst jill schlessinger has some advice if you want to feel more appreciated at work. >> over the last year labor market has been improving.

pennsylvania has added nearly 60,000 jobs. that growth makes it harder to hire talented people, also means that companies need to keep their current employees happy and productive, or risk losing them to the competition. expecting gratitude has been proven to be effective tool for motivation and satisfaction. a survey by the john templeton foundation found that employees given their best effort on the job when co-workers and bosses appreciate their work. workplace coaches recommend acinal exercise to promote workplace gratitude. write every team or staff member's name on separate piece of paper, then ask everyone to write one nice word or thought about each member of the team anonymously, distribute come don't team members, so they can see what their co-workers appreciate about them. you can suggest that everyone post this to their computers so they see it every day, as a reminder. and it is not just for other. gratitude is a two way street. 93% of those polled agree that grateful bosses were more likely to be successful.

>> phillies rained out last night to play a double-header tonight against the cubs, game one start at 5:05. now, earlier in the day, the phillies cut ties with general manager, rubin amaro, jr. amaro took over the phillies after their 2008 world championship, after three more trims to the post-season, phils have fall tone last place, and the worse record in baseball. manager pete says baseball's a business, and he's seen it all. >> i've been at game 47 years. i've been -- rubin fired me at one point. i've been fired. i've been traded. i've been put -- waived.

but saturday afternoon, more rain coming, sunday we can see some showers as well, see sunday in particular it gets up to 60%. i know that's not terrific news for the weekend but it is what it is. 68 degrees right now in philadelphia, 67 degrees in trenton, about 69 degrees in millville, and mount pocono coming in at 61 degrees. good morning to you, this morning. and good morning, as well, to those in you palmyra. 69 degrees for you, and 66 degrees in quakertown. so, the next couple every days, i think this afternoon, probably going to be the most gorgeous part of the next couple of days. looking good today, high of 82 degrees, sunshine, starts with us on saturday, p.m. thunderstorms, to look out for, saturday afternoon. but notice those temperatures staying in the low 80s, and check it out here, we get into sunday, which by the way is rash hashana. high of just 76 degrees, so even though we've got few showers out there, you know meisha, it is going to be a cooler weekends than we've had in quite a while. >> okay, well, you know, i think some will welcome that, kai last i know i'll miss the 09 degrees weather. but i know some people will like t good morning, everyone, friday, we made it to the end

of the work week. usually fridays tends to be a lighter travel day, if i can say, that but today, it looks like it is busy, already it is only 5:30 in the morning, and we already have some problems out here. now, this is one of the incidents right here, jackknife tractor-trailer, west vine ramps to the schuylkill, traffic getting by, you can see, past that far left lane, if you will, they're pushed over, casino every on to the shoulder, trying to get by. but you can see when you look just a sea of headlights trying to get on to the schuylkill, can you not, you will have to go around that. look at this, this is to and from the schuylkill, moving in the westbound direction, this is the back up, because of that jack enough tractor-trailer, so, for those of you just thinking about leaving your homes now, you might want to give yourself couple every extra minute, because if that doesn't get cleared up, as we pushed toward that 6:00 hour, this, which is already bad back up, is going to get much worse. we also have an accident here, the blue route southbound at the off ramp to saint david's, route 30, you can see, it is pretty much blocked, flashing lights overall. this isn't causing
