on the scene, want to show you video as we got here. this happened before 3:00 at fourth and morton. here's what we know. sergeant on the scene tells me that the officer is heading west on fourth, meanwhile, three vehicles are pointing east on fourth and they are preparing to turn north on morton as this is happening, police say that the alleged offending vehicle pulls around the turning lanes into the intersection, clips the officer sending him flying and then keeps going and reeves the scene. the officer's bike slide through the intersection, slamming into a honda, which is on the scene, again trying to turn north, on morton, again, that officer sent some 30 feet flying, off of his bike but is expect to be okay. police meanwhile searching for the offending vehicle, we have a description now, of that vehicle, we want to throw up on the scene. police searching for late 90's early 2,000 model burgundy possibly red grand prix with a green hood, and a green truck,

again that is what police are looking for. i want to show you one last look at the scene, accident reconstruction ist investigators on the scene not only holding traffic at this point at the scene but searching for surveillance video, combing the scene going back over the the accident to try to find out what happened. it is very latest from chester, i'm steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> steve, thank you. live team coverage continues with "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt who is live with new information about how the officer is doing right now, david? >> reporter: jessica, the good news is we're told that overs will be okay. he had had a cat scan ban hour ago. we're told he is talking, he ace leather but authorities still trying to find out who that person is they are asking that officer if he remembers anything, if he was able to get any type of a description on anything. the obviously that will be hard to do i had a chance to speak with chester mayor john linder who tells me he is very frustrated and upset that somebody would hit an officer on a motorcycle and then leave

the scene. this is kind of the thing that he does not want to see in chester. this video right here though is of the scene. as steve paterson mentioned we are told that officer went 30 feet from his motorcycle. things could have been worse. he was rush to chester crozer medical center where he was taken for a cat scan, leather, with his family. we're not sure when he will be released but here is sound from the mayor who sound very frustrated. >> anytime, anyone hits somebody, it is an accident and they leave the scene that is very frustrating because it will take a lot of work for to us find out who dit but we will find out. >> reporter: mayor says that this officer had been on the force for about 15 years and ironically he is accident investigation officer. he is one who teams with these accidents. he was on the motorcycle, to wrap up a long workweek when this happen. we don't know his name yet but we will stay here and continue to get update from officials. we are live at the hospital in

chester david spunt for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". also in chester a child porn ring turns deadly, when authorities shoot and kill a suspectment agent were serving a warrant in the 600 block of highland avenue earlier this morning when authorities entered, they say a man pulled a gun on them and shots were fired. man was killed. >> i woke up to gunshots and when i looked out window we saw cops outside. who can go to see when i came out the door taking my kids to school. >> three other suspects were taken in custody. today we remember the nearly 3,000 people killed in the september 11th attacks. solemn tributes mark 14th anniversary of the day that change america forever. marley hall takes a look back at the ceremonies to day. >> reporter: first bell rang at 8:46. moment flight 11 slam in the north tower of the world trade center. for family members who returned to ground zero year

rhawnhurst raiders and created a team called little vicks which prosecutors said he used to lure boys from the neighborhood and also abused developmentally delayed adult who worked as the team's water boy. in other news tonight coastguard suspended its search for 68 year-old missing pilot. his plane went down 7 miles off the coast of atlantic city yesterday afternoon. "eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bryan is at the coastguard air station in egg harbor township right now with more, cleve. >> reporter: coastguard tells me that poor weather conditions forced them to stop looking for pilot michael moyer, several times yesterday and this morning but this afternoon they got a clear look at that scattered debring field and decided they should call off the search for good. >> radar contact just 800 feet in the ocean. >> reporter: this radio transmission was end of the long, tense process to make contact with michael moyer from gaylord, michigan. data from flight aware.com shows he took off around noon from gaylord in a moon i m20

single engine main similar to the one in this picture. within 22 minutes he rose to 5,000 feet above the earth and for two hours there were no radio transmissions. this unusual behavior caused norad to scramble two f-16 fighter jets. >> when aircraft failed to respond to controllers, we launched, fortunately at a time we were able to get visual of the aircraft itself. it had already started its downward spiral in the atlantic ocean. >> reporter: crash happened 2:45 p.m. and coastguard responded within minutes. mike gibson was senior duty officer at the the time of the crash. >> the weather did present a problem an hour and a half in the search. the there was a thunderstorm to the south that was moving up toward their location with lightening. that caused them to come along. they used that fuel and wait forstrom to pass and got right back out. >> reporter: crews found a tire, seat cushion but no large pieces of the plane and no piling. the gibson was one of the rescue mission.

we will see temperatures in the mid 07's, a cooler day there, that is mainly because of the cloud cover that has been with us all day. yesterday we set a new record rainfall for the day, september 10th, 4.76 inches of rainfall. we were three and a half inches below normal since all first and we've raise that had deficit just yesterday. we have a couple showers moving in through weekend mainly tomorrow afternoon and chance for shower early sunday as well. here's how that looks. watch out for a few cloud to increase tomorrow midday. 3:00 p.m. scattered showers and thunderstorms we will clear that out. sunday a few more clouds and shower or two. marginal risk. few isolated showers or storms could impact area as we go through the day saturday. overnight partly cloudy, comfortable. sun to cloudment late day shower or storm. you're witness weather three day forecast few more cloud but scattered showers tomorrow afternoon. we will start next week on a beautiful note and great stretch next week. we will have more coming up

i'm guess a dean with the top stories, police in chester are searching for hit and run driver who struck a police officer on a motorcycle. this happened at morton and fourth street, the officer was rush to the hospital. and today on this 14th anniversary of the september 11th attacks, america paused to remember the victims and continue the healing process. solemn tributes were held in new york, washington d.c. and shanksville, pennsylvania. the sites where nearly 3,000

on to wogl.com/radio-a-thon. on the cbs-3 healthwatch this afternoon, urgent and potentially life saving information for millions of americans, who have high blood pressure. >> health reporter stephanie stahl joins us on more on this landmark study. >> lots of doctors say wow on this one. study result were so striking federal health officials ended it early to get the word out and part of the study was done right here in philadelphia. one in three americans have high blood pressure, for years cardiologist wondered how low blood pressure should go, it turns out, lower is better. the study included more than 9,300 blood pressure patients, age 50 and older, with risk factors. one group of patients reached current target for systolic blood pressure of 140. other half were treated more aggressively to reach systolic blood pressure of 120, patient whose reached 120 saw their risk of death plumet by almost

for "eyewitness news" at 6:00 starts right now. breaking news right now the the search for a driver who mode down a chester police officer on the job, throwing a 30 feet from his motorcycle. good evening i'm jessica dean. >> i'm ukee washington. officer is in the the hospital as officers searched for a very distinctive car this happened at fourth street and morton avenue in chester. lets get to "eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson on the scene, steve. >> reporter: the on the road investigation portion of this all wrapped up, all lanes of traffic near fourth and morton back opened but the investigation does continue, including the search for a driver that put one of their own officers in the hospital. this afternoon, we spoke to the police commissioner and he is not happy. >> if someone cut him off or that is where accident

happened at 291. >> reporter: cut, struck and left on the street, chester police commissioner joseph bail at the fourth and morton. police say the the officer was heading west on fourth back to the police station when the alleged offending driver, made an illegal turn on to morton, cutting off traffic behind it, and then clipping the the officer's bike. the the bike, sent flying through the intersection, striking on coming traffic. the officer, flying in the road an estimated 30 feet, the driver, completing his left turn and fleeing. commissioner relieved to hear his officers could be okay upset to find out what happened.
