>> little good just in there. >> yes. so lets that's talk about where we are this morning, good morning to you, if you are just waking up, hello, hello, hattie saturday. you can see temperatures around here, girard college in philadelphia, about 71 degrees. newtown square, 64 degrees. and we take a look at pemberton at 06 degrees, bensalem 67. notice the winds there is very calm out of the south-southwest this morning. looking at sent city, 07 degrees here, humidity up there this morning, it will get better as the day goes on, about 87%. notice, our skies, if you walk out right now, relatively clear. if you look at storm scan3, that confirms it, but it doesn't take much to see that off to our north and west, there is some stormy weather. that's certainly going to be coming our way. and that's going to make for bit of stormy afternoon for us. so we start off with little sunshine, work our way into the mid 70s, by 11:00 a.m., i think some of the rain could trick nel early. i think it is more this afternoon being looking out for those thunderstorms, so just a heads up there. we are going to have thunderstorms this afternoon,

could see locally heavy downpours, improving for sunday, how about this? highs in the seven's sunday, monday, so little cool snap coming our way. we'll talk the seven day forecast, i think you'll like what's on other side of this weekends, for now we send it over to nicole. >> this morning police searching for the driver who hit an officer on a motorcycle and kept ongoing. the hit-and-run happened at the intersection of fourth street and morton avenue in chester. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff outside crozer-chester hospital where the officer is recovering this morning, alex? >> reporter: nicole, good news we are told this officer is going to be okay. he's a 15 year veteran of the force, we're told he spent much of his time chasing down hit-and-run suspect like his colleagues are trying to do right now. chester police officer daniel hoffman was on his way back to headquarters yesterday afternoon when authorities say that his harley davidson police vehicle was cut off, causing him to be thrown, that vehicle pushed far down the street, and obviously, him being injured upon impact.

now, it happened around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of wharton avenue and fourth street right in chester, that's near harrah's casino. police say that driver sped off. investigators tell us these hit-and-run cases are specially frustrating because of how little evidence is typically left at the scene. bus of but in this case enough for them to at least now have description of possible vehicle. >> those motorcycles are full size harley davidson's, now, you can't miss the fact of the light and everything on that motorcycle. >> the bike went over t went about 30 to 40 yards down from where he ended up on the highway. >> once again, he's going to be okay this morning, we're told. police are searching for a late nine's model pontiac, possibly grand prix, burgundy or red in color with green hood or trunk. anyone with any information should contact police. reporting live from crozer hospital, alexandria hoff, "eyewitness news". also in chester, child

pornography raid turns deadly. agent were serving a warrant in the 600 block of highland avenue early yesterday morning. authorities say when they entered the home a man pulled a gun on him, shots were fired. man was killed. three other suspect were taken into custody. police are asking for help locating a missing couple from east goshen township. seventy-six year old dominick and his wife, 77 year old barbara jampo live in a retirement community. the couple's son said he last had contact with his paren yesterday morning when they were leaving for the grocery store. they should be traveling in a silver lexus suv. the couple is not traveling cell phone and there has been no bank cardiac tiff at this. dominick is diabetic and insulin dependent. anyone with information is asked to call police. >> three weeks away from pope fantacies arrival in philadelphia and his visit to the city brotherly love is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people. soap, a lot to talk about about this. some people who practice a different fate are expressing concern as well.

natasha brown tells us the unprecedented security measures from the papal visit and world meeting of families are at the heart of this issue. >> at this point he shouldn't be doing this. if they were going to do it, they needed to step people a month or two ago. >> city controller allen isn't minutes g words, outraged that the city's latest announcement on parking restrictions and towing enforcement during the papal visit will disrupt the holiest day of the jewish calendar, yom kippur. >> that's the holiest day of the jewish calendar, occurs tuesday september night, september 22nd and wednesday september 23rd, fasting day, day of forgiveness, the one day of the year that almost all jews are in synogogue. >> he fired off this strongly worded letter to mayor nutter on friday, voicing concerns from philadelphia's jewish community. with the city announcing towing enforcement beginning on september 20th, inside the traffic box, he is concerned congregant won't be able to park at synogogues within

restrictedder. >> one, because it will be eliminating on street parking. two, it will be forcing neighborhood resident to fill up all of the available parking lot. so the plans that conure gants may have about how they will get to sin goal are totally dis resulted. >> mayor nutter has announce tad residents within the secure zones will need to move their vehicles or face towing. most vehicles will need to be moved by sunday september 20th, but if you have a 20-dollar plaque adder to park in a ppa garage, you will have until thursday september 24th to move your vehicle. still, many in the jewish community are hoping the parking restrictions can be deferred in light of the jewish holiday. >> the only solution that i can see is that they defer this off street rule until thursday. >> we have been able to speak with someone from the mayor's office, and they tell us that preliminarilly they only found one sin doing in the restricted their would be affected however they'll make sure all of the sin goss in the -- synogogues in the city

are working within the ppa so if they are hosting services on yom kippur, exempt from towing enforcement and have some kind of plaque ardon their cars identify hog they are n spring garden, natasha brown, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> meanwhile, city and tourism leaders are working over time to make sure people know hotel rooms are still available for the papal event. mayor nutter took to the streets to spread the word about 3,000 rooms are still available. and now the particular vet been distributed for the papal events. mayor nutter expect people to start firming up their plans and making those reservations. >> so i think you will see some late decision-making being made, based on this now new opportunity to have a ticket. >> we're ready for people. we're planning on an once in a generation event. and we're still, still seeing bookings, bookings are coming in. >> while book ago room is still an option for people who want to stay overnight, plans for a francis campgrounds were scrapped due to lack of there.

>> the world pauses to mark 14 years since the september 11 attacks. in new york city two, twin towers of light shining to the heavens. this is tribute in light t has become an annual remembrance of those lost. and in bucks county, service was also held to honor and remember the pennsylvania victims of 9/11, "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco has more from the garden of re flick sean in lower makefield. >> ♪ >> the fountains have stopped at bucks county's memorial garden on the evening of september 11. the community remembers the 18 bucks county victims killed 14 years ago. as the sunset in lower makefield, their names were red. >> lorraine it, united airlines 93. >> there is no better place to turn than to our god. >> hundreds lit candles and said a pear for the victims and their families remembering their sacrifice. the names of all of the nearly

3,000 victims are etched in the memorial. >> we just pray that everybody remembers this day. >> jamie stein and her husband felt it important to commemorate this day as a family. >> we're trying very hard to show our kids who are were very young, five and two, that this is an important day in our history. it should be remembered forever. >> the fountains errupted, and crowds quietly paid their respects. earlier in the day, at the gardens of reflection, a bell re-counted each time the tower was hit, and each building fell. family members, like tear a brain, are still hoping for healing. >> today is always a difficult day. but coming here to the garden makes it a little easier, including the amount of the community that comes out to support us. >> for the family member of the bucks county victims, it is authorities believe that 14 years have passed, since not a day has gone by that they've not remembered their loved ones lost n lower makefield township, diana rocco, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". and earlier, at ground

zero, bells rang anteriores fell as family and other gathered to remember 2,733 people died whether both of the world trade center towers collapsed. many showed photos of their loved ones as the names of the victims were red allowed. president and first lady today observed the solemn moment on the south lawn of the white house. secretary of defense ash carter led remembrances at the pentagon. every year a large american flag there is unfurled over the side of the building, followed by a wreath laying. >> and shanksville, pennsylvania at the memorial for united flight 93, the names of passengers and crew were red allowed. the ceremony took place on a hill where an in you visitor center has been built overlooking that crash site. >> 5:10 right now. rain and cooler temperatures for our weekend. meteorologist, kyla grogan, back to tell us when those storms will arrive. also ahead the first republican candidate drops out of the race for president. and we've seen what the fury of mother nature can do here

>> a real shake up in the republican race for president. former texas governor rick perry became the first of the 17 candidates to drop out of the race. he announced his decision in front of conservative activists during a speech in st. louis on friday. perry was barely registering in the polls, and his campaign ran into some financial myfoxphilly.com. this was his second bid for the white house. 5:14, caught on surveillance camera, construction crane comes crashing down at islam's holiest site. at least 107 people are now confirmed dead. the crane toppled over during a violent rainstorm in the saudi arabian city of mecca crashing into the grand mosque there. nearly 250 people were injured. the accident comes just before the start of the annual haj pilgrimage to mecca later this month. >> also, massive wild fire to tell but, threatening entire northern california town. it is burning in san andries about an hour southeast of sacramento. resident of the town of about 2700 are on alert to be ready to evacuate. the wild fire grew from just

>> we have some rain brewing, yes. >> some storms? >> and i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but good news on the other side of t i'm telling you. >> sometimes you have to get through the rain. >> a lot of rain this week, we needed the rain, happy to get it. maybe not so happy today but we will get little bit more. live look at storm scan3. here we are now, we start off the day kind of clear, lovely, so looking good, there as we look at storm scan3, you start to see clouds rolling in, as i zoom out here, you start to see where the problem s we have another front tracking, not as strong as the one we dealt with earlier this week, not expecting as many heavy downpours, but you can see here, it certainly will be tracking toward us, and it will give us little bit of trouble. so that's why your afternoon is likely to be a little rainy. looking at the current temperatures, 07 degrees in philadelphia, 58 allentown, little cool they are morning than we have been. fifty-three mount pocono, about 61 in atlantic city. if we zoom in here, palmyra at 70 degrees, but check out quakertown, 55 for you. cooler temperatures over the next seven days, ones you

haven't seen in a while, everybody. look at the hour by hour, demonstrates what's going on today. we start off with little sunshine, clouds work their way in, by the time we get to the afternoon that's when we are look out for stormy weather to come, in rain ahead of the colds front. that will will set us up for little bit of cloudy afternoon. so, start little sun, clouds increase, p.m. thunderstorms, and on sunday, few showers, but sunday actually looking good in the latter half of the day. see saturday, we will see some rain, but sunday i think it will be early then start to ramp down. let's take you hour by hour, i'll show you what i am talking about. this morning looking pretty good. we track this forward, start to see the showers ahead of the front. there is 1:00 p.m., they're moving, in and then they kind of stick with us throughout our evening. get into sunday, there is 10:00 a.m. sunday, few spotty showers possible. you can see the clouds will start to clear as the day goes on. once you get the back end of the system out of there. beautiful. that set us up for monday gorgeous, sunshine. okay, it is not so gorgeous in the rip current department today. but i don't expect a lot of you will want to swim. in case you try to get out

early there is moderate risk of rip currents, as we head into the weekend. so just a heads up thereto check in with your lifeguard. today at the shore it will be about 78 degrees, as a hi, so little cool. again, we start to get the clouds working their way in, then p.m. showers, and that rip countries being will be moderate. tomorrow mostly cloudy to start. we could see early showers, will get better as the afternoon goes on, and high of just 76 degrees. so starting to see these temperatures cool on down a bit. if you're headed to the poconos today, about 70 degrees for your high, but again watch out for the clouds to increase, rain to come in, sunday start off little rainy, start to clear out, high every just 66. i can't help but notice overnight lows, getting down there in the 40's, sunday night. so, i don't think you will be camping, but if you are be aware. today 81, clouds increasing being look out for thunderstorm in the afternoon, not bad with the winds today. little bit after breeze. tonight those stormy showers will start to taper off late in the evening. low of about 64 degrees, temperatures staying mild. if you take a look at the p day forecast, check it out,

only highs in the 70s sunday. now monday all of this moves out. we're beautiful. look at this, high of 76 degrees, cool, but clear, and by the time we get to tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, talking gorgeous sunshine, low to mid 80s, which to me sounds perfect. what do you think, nicole? >> i agree. you know, unfortunate about the weekend. but kind of clears up sunday, them the rest of the week, amazing. >> exactly. >> not bad, kyla, thank you. new york city police have released disturbing video of officers mistakenly arresting former pro tennis star james blake. >> this happened outside of the grand hyatt hotel in manhattan wednesday. officers were investigating a credit card fraud ring, and blame matched the description after suspect. the 35 year old was released when investigators realize their mistake. the officer who handcuffed him is now on desk duty. tennis star serena williams quest for grand-slam will have to wait another year. she lost to reb earth a vincey seemed to be as surprised as

are now it, doesn't take much to notice there is a problem off to the west, that's a cold front, and stormy weather ahead of it. that will be tracking toward us, will bring us rain and cool us down as we head into our sunday. so check this out. high of 81 today. we'll look for those storms to kick up as we get into the afternoon. that rain like ily continuing into the morning tomorrow. then i think sunday will work out to be okay in the afternoon, high of just 75 degrees, and the sunshine is returning on monday. but look at that, high of 76. so, you know, we had this crazy warm weather, and now we will kick down into the 70s, almost astound that i was talking about 90's just a few days ago. and now i'm telling everybody about 70s. we'll take bigger look at the seven day forecast, and sunshine on the other side of monday, too, nicole, when i come back in just a few moments. >> kyla, thank you. switching gears now this morning, chester police are searching for the driver who hit an officer on a motorcycle, and kept ongoing. authorities hope the distinctive color of the car will help them catch the person responsible. alexandria hoff live outside crozer-chester hospital where the officer is recovering. alex? >> reporter: well, nicole, the good news here is we are told that officer hoffman is going to be okay. but this is a jarring, very striking, and almost familiar incident there is happened just two days after a philadelphia officer was laid to rest. he was struck and killed last month when a person in their vehicle struck his motorcycle, he was thrown, and killed, but arrest in that case was made. police hope the same thing can be done here. >> chester county police officer, daniel hoffman, was on his way back to headquarters yesterday when police say he was hit by a red or burgundy pontiac. his bike was tossed, he was thrown, the driver, never stopped. >> the bike went over, it went about 30 to 40 yards down from where he ended up on the highway. >> it happened before 3:00 p.m., at the intersection of morton avenue and fourth street in chester, right across from harrah's casino. police commissioner joseph bail says that his officer may

have been cut off by the car, but that visibility is no excuse, as these police motorcycles maple themselves known. >> now, you can't miss the fact, of the lights and everything on that motorcycle. >> police say hoffman is a 15 year veteran of the force, often chasing down hit-and-run suspects, as his colleagues are doing right now. so, police do have description after possible vehicle, they're looking for a red or burgundy pontiac it, might and grand prix, and part of that car, either the hood or the trunk, may be green. once again, officer hoffman is expected to be okay, anyone with any information, should contact police. reporting live in chester, alexandria hoff, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> alex, we appreciate the update. friends and family preparing say good-bye to south jersey teenage here passed away at a sleep over last weekends. a viewing and funeral mass will be held today for 14 year old carol. authorities say she died in her sleep while at the sleep over in seoul, new jersey last

saturday. she was a member of the eastern regional high school girls soccer and lacrosse teams. federal prosecutors are dropping charges against a temple university professor accused of trading us secrets with china. jousting g, seen in this university video here, was charged with four counts of wire fraud in may. he was chairman of temple's physics department until his arrest. g was accused of trying to obtain groundbreaking position of technology to share with china in return for money and prestige. >> well, this man leon watson will likely spends the rest of his life in prison for sexually abusing five young boys on his team. a judge sentenced the former youth football coach to 114 to 228 years behind bars. he was a part time coach for the rhawnhurst raiders, and he created a team he called little vicks, that's where prosecutors say he lured boys from his neighborhood to play. watson also abused developmentally delayed adult who worked as the team's water boy. >> the coast guard suspends its search for missing pilot,

who is small plane crashed off the coast of atlantic city. radio transmissions reveal air traffic control lost contact with 68 year old michael moore for two hours after he took off from gaylord, michigan. the unusual behavior forced nor add to scramble 2f16 fire jet to see what was going on. >> when the aircraft failed to respond, island. , unfortunately, the time we were able to get visual, of the aircraft itself, it had already started it downward spiral into the atlantic ocean. >> the coast guard say crews searched the crash site over 22 hour period, but found no site of that pilot. >> well, controversy is brewing over the cooper river. a temporary pedestrian bridge slate today come down, that's prompted 11th hour push to stop it. the bridge battle is being waged over the river between pennsauken and collingswood. stopping? >> no, no. if we have to, we will get some people. we will chain ourselves to the bridge. i'm not kidding. oh, we will. >> tom is talking about this foot bridge, scheduled to be taken down, the 200-foot temporary structure was built during the recent expansion of the route 130 bridge over the cooper river. >> and now it has been three years, and we're freaking out because we don't want to go back up on the highway. >> moms we talked to walking the path around cooper river agree, they have safety concerns about route 130. >> the cars, especially 130, gets so busy out there. >> if the bridge was taken downey truly would not be bridging my kids and strollers. >> spending more than $25 million, the new jersey department of transportation rebuilt this route 130 bridge with pedestrians in minds. it has extra wide sidewalks, and so transportation officials say, keeping this temporary pedestrian foot bridge is both unnecessary and costly. >> go on facebook, sign up.
