we'll have more on that coming up in just a moment. first we want to check go with justin, meisha, a another cool start, guys. good morning. >> yes, it is. good morning it, feels good outside, though, as much as i love the 09 degrees heat, i can tell you, kind of nice waking up, knowing it will get warmer, but still crisp in the air. >> you can breathe. nice refreshing, open up the windows on the drive in, enjoy the fresh air and clear skies outside right now, again, some spots, little cool, you may need to grab the jacket. already seeing some 40's around, this morning, check it out. looking at mount pocono, dropped to 48 degrees already, quakertown, also, in the upper 40's, woodbine, new jersey, in ill ville, atglenn, pennsylvania, as well as collegeville, all making it down to the 40's, at some point this morning. we're not done yet. sunrise coming in another hour and a half, another 45 minute. temperatures may drop another agree or two. at the airport, official reporting station at 61 in philadelphia, 53 in wilmington, and in reading, and zooming in little closer to some of the suburbs,

quakertown, one of the cool spots, still at 48 degrees. storm scan3, nice and quiet. can't even find any clouds over the delaware valley. that will be the trend through the day today. waking up your temperatures, 7:00 still in the 50's, by early afternoon, approaching that 80 degrees mark, looks like we do hit the lower 80s for the mid afternoon temperatures, reaching high of 82 for philadelphia, upper 70s at the shore, in the sunshine, great looking beach weather. even the poconos starting to warm up to the mid 70s. more on that seven day forecast, in what to expect, let's check in on what's happening in the skies, see what's happening on the roads with meisha. >> good morning, justin, let's do that, shall we? still early. just joining us, good morning, everyone, we hope you're grabbing your cup of coffee. we thank you fortuning in with us. here is a look at the ben franklin bridge. those of you coming in from jersey to center city looking good. you can see, already, in the early 5:00 hour now. and already, quite a bit of headlight out there. that might be an indicator it might be a busy tuesday morning. it usually is. here's a look at where we have some construction, 59

southbound, street road, academy road, far right lane block. see the red cone zones. almost looks like with the flashing lights that they're starting to move them right now. i'll let you know when they actually do. also, do have reports of building fire in center city. thirteenth street and chancellor, between walnut and locust, you can look for some lane closures in and around this area, make note of this, i'll have update as you get them for those of you in the center city area or moving toward that area. also downed wires, carney's point township new jersey all lanes are blocked, route 40 westbound at route 628 for those of in you and around that area. and, also, some construction on the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound, willow grove, to delaware valley, the left lane blocked for those of you in and around that area.

>> out west in utah, flashfloods tore through a small town in southern utah mob day night. heavy rains, pummeled canyons north of the sister towns every hill dale, utah, colorado city arizona hill dale, massive wave of water, smashed into two vehicles, with 16 women, and children inside. those cars and occupant were taken downstream. hill day, colorado city home base of the secretary run by warren jeff. both towns 300 miles south of salt lake city. >> the man wanted for mississippi campus shooting has died from a self inflicted gunshot wound. police say they were following 45 year old shannon lamb and in his car late monday night.

they say lamb jumped out of the vehicle, ran, and then killed himself. he was wanted by police for shooting and killing his domestic partner, amy, in their home, and then murdering history professor eat and schmidt on delta state university campus yesterday. police do not noah motive at this time. >> new this morning, man is shot dead in his south philadelphia neighborhood, and now police are looking for his killer. it happened at 24th and montrose around 10:30 last night. investigators found a 21 year old man in the street suffering from gunshot wound to his chest and torso. police found bullet casings at the crime scene and bullet holes in nearby cars. >> we know tensions were fired from semiautomatic weapon. we found ten spent shell casings on the sidewalk at the intersection of 24th and montrose. we also found four parked un attended vehicles, that were struck by gunfire. >> the man died two hours later at presbyterian

hospital. police say the gunman fled on a bicycle. no word right now on a motive. lieutenant in philadelphia's police aviation unit says a student on temple university campus pointed a lazer at the police department's helicopter, known as tack air last night. lieutenant david bok tweeted this picture with the caption attention at temple university student on top floor, pointing lazers at tack air is illegal. tagged temple police as well as professor of criminal justice. morgan hall located at broad street and cecil b. moore. we reached out, who tells us, police are not investigating that incident. he adds that those student are lucky it was tack air and not a medivac with a patient on board. we have reached out to temple university for comment but have not heard back. >> 5:05. the football season is now underway with the eagles playing their season opener on the road. but, the game did not end the way we had hoped it o the birds come up short in their come back attempt in atlanta.

eyewitness sports anchor pat gallon helping us to understanded. rough at the start. >> it was ugly first half. turned a little bit in the second half. but they have the things they definitely need to work on. the birds did play that shaky first half, and it took flight, and they made a game of it. but a questionable play call, may have done them in at the end. penn charter product, matt ryan, shook off pair of interceptions, leaves the falcons to 20 to three lead with less than a minute to go in the half. but the birds, they looked a lot better in the second half. as they mounted a furious come-back. demarco murray here, he had two, third quarter touchdowns, even though the 20-14nfl fin, finished with 9 yards on eight carries. the eagles had a fourth and one late in the game, do they go for it? no, they kick the feel goal. go for the field goal instead of the first down. this is code, 44 yards out, he misses it, and the falcons edge the eagles 26 to 24.

we'll be back a little later on to go deeper into the game. here's what stood out. obviously that missed field goal by code ' marquis. another look at it, a 44 yarder, definitely make recall for a pro bowl caliber kicker, you would think, but the question s. should they have gone for it on fourth down? at the very least, they could have called time out. just to set themselves up, get themselves ready for the play. he seemed a little bit rushed. here's chip on the miss. >> i don't know if the timing was off on. that will have to look at the film in terms of where he was, kick it with 72nd to go on the play clock. we were rushed in trying to, you know, didn't get a chance -- i'll have to take a look at that. >> so at first glance, chip didn't think it was rushed. you look at the tape it, looks a little differently. coming up at 6:00 more in depth look at the eagles lost to the falcons. we'll look at bradford's debut, demarco murray's debut. >> hopes so high for these

palmyra bridges double to $4 for cash customers, $3 for e-zpass customers. those toll hikes are the first on the two bridges in 15 years. the burlington county bridge commission will spend that money on improvement. >> burlington bristol bridge has been there for a long time, and it is in need of repair. hopefully, they'll use this money to repair it, but i don't think i'm getting my money's worth. >> over the next five years, the tolls are spells dollars to cover $110 million in repairs. they include resurfaced, painting, and safety upgrades. philadelphia police are looking for a suspect caught on camera stealing packages. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt said what sets this case apart is the real claire at this in the video. >> the man in this surveillance video on dupont street in manayunk doesn't seem too worried about being caught. he stole a valuable package in the middle of the day with not one but two security cameras, watching his every move. >> the video shows everything

you need to know. >> manayunk resident brian taylor lives in the home with his wife, and noticed something was wrong when they only spotted one package on the doorstep last thursday. >> we looked at the tracking, and it said that it was delivered 11:35. >> taylor insists this guy messed with the wrong house. because these cameras happen to be some of the best on the market. >> i bought probably the best quality camera you could buy. fortunately, it paid off. >> when the thief opened the box, he didn't find expensive electronics, but two designer dresses. brian's wife was supposed to wear for a wedding over the weekends. >> my wife was very concerned, not to mention the fact she had to find another dress for this event. >> karen murphy lives few doors down from taylor. >> my house has been broke mean twice in the past month and a half. >> and murphy said he knows plenty of other neighbors with similar problems. >> it is unfortunate. this doesn't seem to be much we can do. >> while the most expensive surveillance camera doesn't stop people from stealing it,

might help detective quickly catch this guy, and put him behind bars. they just need to know who he is. >> i get packages delivered all the time t makes it really worried. >> if you have any information about the man in the surveillance video, give police a call. remember, you can rear main anonymous, reporting at police headquarters, david spunt, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> philadelphia police hope that surveillance video will help them finds a cup i am of suspects in a jewel heist. investigators say, two men walked into royal jewelry on south 23rd street yesterday evening, and then stole $50,000 worth of jewelry at knife point. police say the men drove off in a gold honda, with a paper tag. >> still ahead this morning on "eyewitness news", off initials arizona increase their reward, hoping to learn new details in a series of shootings on a highway. >> also, ahead, fraternity members at new york college, facing charges this morning, in the hazing death of a freshman. >> and, vandals at villanova. the group police believe was

bar uke college freshman dang died in 2013. authorities have charged the pie delta few fraternity, five student at the new york based college with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and related offenses. some students albaladejo almost my say the charges are just. >> i do think that hey, once of those thing, do you have make an example out of those things. somebody lost their child. >> the rushing process is, you know, still a big part of greek life. but absolutely should be done in a way where nobody gets hurt like this. >> michael deng's family released a statement which reads, quote, fraternities and their members must be held accountable, and this step by authorities is a important one. arizona authorities meanwhile increase the reward in the case of highway shootings in phoenix. the reward now stands at $50,000 for information lead to go an arrest. authorities say, 11 vehicles had been struck along i10 since august 29th.

eight were hit by bullet, and three other by bb's and pellets. cooler weather is helping firefighters battle a wild fire in northern california. it is now 10% contained. a 72 year old woman died over the weekend. she suffered from multiple sclerosis, and could not get out on her own. the fire, and another in the sierra nevada foot hills, have destroyed more than 100 homes and other structures. right now, we check in with justin. another fall like morning for us, right? >> that's right. forty's, 50's, again, in some of the suburbs, so maybe some jacket weather. we'll see a lot of sunshine again today. looks like temperatures bump back to the lower 80s, no humidity going on, nice clear crisp morning, check out this camera shot. we go to the other side of the delaware river, we are in palmyra, new jersey, looking at center city. being pick out the buildings, no haze, fog, to deal with this morning. so, good visibility, into your ride for a work or school. september so far, it has been pretty warm one. seven days of at least

90 degrees. and half the month we had some sunshine, each day. the exception was saturday, we had the clouds, and the showers around. now the highest temperature, 96 degrees, actually the warmest temperatures of the year so far. the low eggs was 56. we hit that yesterday morning. >> practically perfect forecast if you like sunshine, warm temperatures. really for the rest of the week. mostly sunny conditions, temperatures are above average in the low and mid 80s, humidity levels stay low. winds light as well. we still have the winds flow coming out of the north wells, that's cooler, drier air mass, coming in from canada. that's why temperatures, again, on the cool side, and the 50's, some spots. look at state college, coming in at 49 degrees. so again, the source of the air mass coming from our north. so that's cool and dry. storm scan3, high pressure right on top of us, that's blocking any storms from developing, so that's why you see the clear skies, bug bridge h. high pressure large, in charge, for the rest of the week. look at the sunshine, 80s much of the same, just sits here every day, thursday, friday, even into the weekend.

and around the area. looking at 42, those of you coming from jester i am, around creek road, headed northbound, you can see our freeway friend pulled all the way off to the shoulder. plenty of headlines. coming around the s curve moving around those cones, very nicely, as you are used to that by now. we do have three alarm building fire in center city, 13th street, chancellor street, between walnut, locust. look foreclosures, 13th, closed between walnut and irving, also look for partial closures around walnut, and juniper streets. so for those every you in and around center city just know that this is in effect right now. i'll have updates as you get them. also downed pole here, you can see, route 40 westbound blocked at route 628. downed pole and wires in and around the area. certainly want to make note of that. and also the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound, we got some construction, willow grove to delaware vale. left lane is blocked. so just a lot of many notes on this early tuesday morning, erika, back to you. >> meisha, thank you. athletes and staff from villanova university football

team returned home from their season opener, to finds their cars vandalized. the team came home from uconn to find 15 vehicles with windows broken out or shattered. police say that number of items were stolen from those cars. it happened sometime late september 2nd, or early september 3rd. >> a lot of damage, yes, very extensive. some of the cars were fairly expensive. soap, it will cost a lot of money to fix the cars. >> so far police have no suspects or motive. a mt. holly day camp instructor is now facing child pornography charges. twenty-three year old daniel chance of moorestown is free after posting $100,000 bail. police say he used a file sharing program to distribute child pornography. at the time of his arrest last week, chance was employed as a ropes instructor at the liberty lakes day camp in mansfield township. >> police meanwhile continue their investigation into a crash that killed a high school student in bucks county. there is a memorial now at the site that far crash that

killed 17 year old christopher in new britain township sunday. police say the central bucks south high school student lost control of his pick up while traveling around a curve. three other teen passengers were hurt. one eyewitness is still shaken up. >> the boy that was laying in the ditch was just kept reaching up into the air. >> my heart has been hurting the last two days. my stomach feels sick. >> other neighbors tell "eyewitness news", the curve on limekiln pike is notorious for speeding and accidents. it is unclear what led to this crash. >> still ahead, if a pet owner, information that could affect you during the upcoming pope's visit. stay tuned for. that will almost, our pat ciarrocchi sits down with the head of the secret service to talk about the security challenges presented by the papal visit. >> that and more whether we return.

the ncaa women's national basketball champion, uconn huskies, will make trip to washington, dc today. the huskies and head coach, gino, will meet with president obama, who is honoring the huskies for their championship, and their efforts to give back to their community. gino is from norristown. congratulations to him, and those huskies, very special day for everyone involved. still ahead this morning, we now know what the stage will look like for pope francis' sunday mass on the parkway. we'll show it to you coming up in the next half hour. then, we will tell you how engineer hopes to change the way you sit when you fly, and he's really focusing on the middle seat, about time, justin, come on, right? >> nobody wants the middle seat. what's up with that? interesting. all right, we are waking to up some cool temperatures, but a loft sunshine today, get us back to the 80s, i'll have the details coming up. >> also, meisha with the latest on the roads, when "eyewitness news" returns. good morning.
