shortly before the fire. that fire caused a million-dollar in damage including destroying a mural that was being created. well, neighbors helped pull an elderly man out of the house on fire in hamilton township, new jersey. chopper three was over severely damaged home on pasadena drive. flames broke out around 9:30 this morning. two residents were treated at the hospital for cuts and burns, the fire marshall ruled this fire an accident. and residents are forced out of their homes when fire breaks out in the juniata section of the city. it happen short thely after 11:00 on the 4,000 block of ormond street and fire was placed under control about a half an hour later. there is no word on how many houses were affect or number of residents displaced but no one was hurt. terrifying moments for a northeast philadelphia mother after three armed men, barged into her home and threatened her life. police say that the three three-year old mother went to check on the noise in the basement and found three men, wearing masks. the home invation happened on the 2,000 block of the shiply road while would the man's

children were sleeping upstairs. >> while one male held a gun to her head, the other two she could hear going through the house, ransacking the house. >> it appears that $800 in cash was taken, investigators say none of the three males were wearing gloves so they dust ted the home, hoping fingerprints can lead them to the suspects. philadelphia police need public's help tracking down two suspects who attempted to rob a dollar store. take a look at this surveillance video please. police say these two men entered family dollar store in glenwood tuesday night. one of the suspects point aid gun at an employee and demanded cash when the employee ran from them. two suspects described as men in their late teens or early 20's, then left without stealing anything. if you have any information, please contact the police. also caught on camera, police say this man stole a city owned police bike in fishtown. just before 9:00 a.m. thursday an officer park his bike in front of the 7-eleven on west girard avenue and noticed it was missing, and, and on the

leopard street, and bike is a fuji mountain bike with police written in white on the frame. if you have any information, cat police. philadelphia police have arrested this man that stole more than a dozen vehicles, most of which were taxis. twenty-four year-old eric kemp is being charged with 17 counts of auto theft and related offenses. kemp stole the vehicle between june and august in west and southwest philadelphia as well as upper darby. kemp was caught on surveillance video during one of the thefts. montgomery county sheriff's office is fighting crime from the air, with the new drone. >> this thing, this same drone can assist with security during the papal visit next week. camden. new kind of school is changing the way inner city schools are learning. one parent in suburban north jersey wanted her child to attend so badly that she moved there. "eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson spoke to the family about the opportunity. >> reporter: culture of collegiate learning in grades school. >> our goal, to get our kids to and through college. >> reporter: mission statement from kip cooper norcross academy director drew martin, who oversees more than 500 elementary and middle school students in one of the first renaissance schools. this year, kip in camden became first to open up its brand new brick and mortar. >> our average kindergartener was testing at 25th percentile nationally in math and in the end of the year 64th percentile just through the roof growth. >> reporter: it is a hard to place a renaissance school, somewhere between public and charter, the system ace proved by the the i but run eventually, proponents say it is opened to the public taking neighborhood kids who wouldn't have access to quality

education without a lottery, detractors, that there is currently no high school so neighborhood kid will likely wind upright back in camden public right before college, not to mention the location. >> are you serious? are you crazy. >> reporter: that was melinda a morse co-workers, this was her kid. >> my 12 year old said no. >> reporter: morse moved her family from suburban sicklerville to live in camden just to send her seven kids to learn in kip. >> i took them out of the private school to place them here. >> reporter: why? >> i think i got more from my money here. >> reporter: morse says camden was important to provide a diverse learning experience and so far family loved it but she came for the education. >> i want them to go to college. >> reporter: for the first time in his young life she says her son noah is finally on the same page. >> it feels better in this school because the teachers make the class work seem fun. >> reporter: in camden, steve

sierra brooks and one month-old an tone ohio, she said she felt ashamed. they were living in tents at american and cumberland streets in kensington. group calls the site tent city. sherry of the economic rights campaign has been meeting with the group. >> we have grown from six families, to dozens of families. >> reporter: top officials with philadelphia's public housing authority and the office of supportive housing say that they visited the site thursday evening and tried to offer emergency shelter. >> we have offered emergency housing. emergency housing is not perfect, but it is the first step towards working your way towards permanent housing. >> reporter: when i asked honkula about the cities claim she denied any real accommodations were offered. >> we are calling the city's bluff, but friday afternoon she announced community members have stepped up and offered to help. people like brett parker.
