right next to where this is happening. >> i know, you're in pope town. >> i am in pope town. lot of hammers banking. so nice yesterday, all of this hard work, at least it is nice weather out, right? so the question becomes next weekends, will we be able to hold that? we'll talk about that a little bit. first we have to talk about little fog. not as bad as yesterday. so i have higher hopes for this, we won't be socked in quite like yesterday. we are starting to see reduced visibility a lock the coastline, wildwood, down to .8 after mile, not a problem yet on the road. see atlantic city a mile visibility, something to keep an eye on headed out the door today. clouds will dissipate throughout the day today. feel a lot less humid going from morning to afternoon, clear and cool night is ahead of us recalling and fall like week ahead. current temperatures in our live neighborhood network. check it out if philadelphia, about 72 degrees, newtown square, 67. same for pemberton, bensalem, 59 degrees. few sprinkles working their way out. that will will start to head out. going to see pretty nice day today. about 78 degrees, as our high,

that's new, isn't it, the lower numbers, 77 at the shore today, little foggy start, we can also see the fog in the poconos, they have seen it, we'll see high of about 77 degrees. we will talk the seven day forecast, now that we're at the end of this weekend, we can talk about what's going down next weekend for the papal visit. i will be back in just a few moments with that, nicole, we send it over to you. >> now day two of pope francis historic journey to cuba and to north america. yesterday he arrived in havana to cheering crowd and military band. he was also greeted by cuba's president castro, now this morning, pope francis will celebrate mass in a outdoor arena. one of three he said to preside over and thousands are expected to attend. we'll have much more on the pope's visit to cuba coming up in a live report in about 13 minutes right here on cb3. >> well, pope francis may be in cuba, but he's already looking ahead to his visit here to f and new this morning, a video message from the holy father. he wants the city to know he will be there.

12th street will be towed. then monday, tuesday, wednesday, more towing. no, south and east of the parkway, and along emergency routes. resident in these tow areas must book a space at one of six designated parking garages. those who have residential permit can park therefore free. those who don't have to pay 20 bucks for the space. in exchange for booking that space, the parking authority will give resident a permit that exempts them from towing through thursday when those garages open. of course, much of this towing will happen, that will begin happening today, will be done to make room for dozens of jumbo tron screens, 100-foot archway, platforms, other construction necessary for sound towers and stages needed for the musical perform and cents on saturday and sunday. scott runs ems productions, group charged with september. they produce big event involving the dahli lamb, a jz, they say this event with pope francis is the biggest

served hundreds every meals at 16th and the parkway, organization says it is still waiting for word from the sit how to access the parkway to provide those meals within the secure zone. >> well, volunteers are getting ready for the world meeting of families, yesterday was check in day at the pennsylvania convention center. the more than 10,000 volunteers will be identifiable through the bright orange t-shirts they'll wear. some will get to work on monday, day before the world meeting of families officially convenes, most volunteers utilized saturday and sunday when the pope visit philadelphia. >> i volunteered for special needs, people with wheelchairs, or unable to walk. >> human services diagram. i'm special service coordinator also. so i'll be taking care of everybody. >> officials say all of the volunteers went through a thorough background check. >> stay with "eyewitness news" for the latest on the papal visit. love report from cuba is coming up in about ten minute, right here on cbs-3, plus, we have full resource guide on our website cbsphilly.com.

>> talking football. eagles fans getting fired up for today's homeowner. what a way to start the season with the dallas cowboys, minus their receiver, dez bryant, eagles hoping to after inning last week's tough loss to the atlanta falcons. more on today's big game coming up later on in sport. >> in other news this morning, fire rips through home in ridley township delaware county. this eyewitness video was taken by timothy ike elman. the fire broke out 11:00 on 400 block of ohio avenue. reached two alarms before getting under control about a half hour later, and no injuries were reported. >> grenade scare forces evacuation of the village thrift store in kensington. an employee there found two grenades in a plastic bag and called police. made the discovery the 2900 block every kensington avenue just before 9:00 saturday morning. police say the device turned out to be hollowed out and not live. authorities are working to

track down the owner of those grenades. >> also, this morning, some sad news to report. best selling british author jacky collins has died. she was phone for writing vibrant novels about extravagance, glamour, after fluent life in hollywood. she died of breast cancer in los angeles. the 77 year old was the sister of actress joan collins. well, also this weekend, friends, family, former nba great, gather to say booed good-bye to moses malone. funeral held for malone this morning at a houston church. moses helped lead the sixers to the 1983nba championship. three time nbamvp died of heart disease sunday. he was 60 years old. it is 6:08 right now. coming up next on "eyewitness news", we are going live to cuba with special report on the pope's visit. >> pope francis prepares for his first full day in cuba. when he'll give mass and meet with the country's president, i'm adrianna diaz in havana.

catch a tornado on camera. they're pretty close. the twister was spotted near the town of kansas, you can see, the the debris being blown around, the tornado starts to form. not very big twister so it didn't cause too much damage, which is good news, were you saying, these people are just crazy running toward a tornado. >> i get it, the thrill of the chase, but i always get a little terrified when see people that close. careful. we don't have to worry about that today, though. >> thank goodness, no. >> we do have like a fall feel in the air. you don't quite feel it yet. you know? like this morning still little humid. not quite feeling the kick of less humidity that we will get this afternoon, but it is coming everybody, it is coming. so we start off with what we can expect. hello 70s. that's what we will see today. humidity will be dropping as it goes throughout the day. very cool pattern ahead. little more seasonable, autumnal equinox this wednesday, pretty much equal daytime and nighttime. when of the times of the years we have that, that's when we start to see the daylight go

away little by little. dew point, 67 in philadelphia, see 50's and 60s throughout the region, so we look at that to find out how much moisture content is in the air. ours currently at 67. that will does put us in the slightly steamy category. i felt that when i walked out the door this morning, little built of sticky thing. but it is not too warm out. temperature wise, so that makes it feel not quite so bad. 72 degrees in philadelphia, 67 in millville, atlantic city about 65. and we have our 50's up in mount pocono. sitting at 56. good sunday morning to you folks there. take a look at the region though. relatively warm right now. seventy-three in new york sit, down in washington, d.c., about 70 degrees. so it is feeling little moist out there. that's because we are still waiting for cold front passage. we've got just little trickles of blips on the radar trying to make their way in here. not really going to do much. i don't think. pretty much done with this. it will remain cloud cover starting offer the day. it will get better moving along. that's the good news, start to see some sunshine in there. however, right now, seeing, not so great if you're into

atlantic city. half mile, not quite as intense as yesterday, but still, something to keep an eye on if you have to hit the roads this morning. so this cold front will be tracking across. we will have the cloudy weather ahead of t we will start to see clear skies, you can see 5:00 this afternoon, looking pretty good. then little more cloudy as we head into our overnight into monday. we should stay relatively dry still by tuesday again. you can see we will start to clear out. little damp back and forth with clouds. today headed down the shore, just 77 degrees. watch out, little breezy down there, also moderate rip countries being, look at the winds, ten to 20 miles per hour out of the northeast, i wouldn't call it the best beach day. but not too bad. little cooler for you. if you are in the city today up to about 78 degrees, these clouds will start to dissipate working our way into the afternoon, it should be pretty nice afternoon, if, for instance, you happen to be going to a football game today. i think many of you are looking forward to this one. dallas and the eagles, about 4:25, partly sunny skies,

square. cbs news correspondent adrianna diaz live in cuba this morning, and joins us now, adrianna, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, nicole. the fanfare began as soon as pope francis landed yesterday. and on the tarmac, he dove straight in to us cuban relations. >> as he stepped down to cuban soil, pope francis received a heroes welcome. complete with flowers, trumpets, and cannons. , at the airport he emphasized his dedication to renewed us cuban relations. i encourage those in power to continue down this road, he said. it is a road he helped open. after hosting secret meetings between the us and cuba at the vatican. cubans like this rales dollars the pope for his role. i want to thank him for that because he brought back an unity, she said. the 79 year old devout catholic received communion from pope john paul ii during his 1998 trip to cuba. what was that moment like for

you? >> indescribable, she said. there are no words. her new dream was to have a special moment with pope francis. she got her chance when pope francis left the airport in his pope mobile. roaring crowds lined the street to welcome him, including her. what joy, she said, we thank him for teaching us to be better. today the pope's message is expected to be more pastoral than political. as we mention, he'll hold open air mass in front of thousands in havana's revolution square. live in half and a, adrianna diaz, back to you. >> we are wondering does cuba have large catholic community there? do you think a lot of people will turn out to welcome pope francis? >> nicole, a ton of people say they're going to turn out to welcome him. in fact, cuba is one of the least catholic communities in latin america. less than third identify as

aver john atlantic plane is grounded after it wing hit the fence at jfk airport in new york. crews were pushing flight 26 back from the gate for take off to london when that accident happened on saturday. now, none of the 276 people on board were injured. they were busted back to the terminal and put on another flight to london. >> well, the eagles play their home opener at the linc this afternoon. that and the pope's upcoming visit are all lead to go road closures, of course potential traffic jams to watch out for today. here's meisha johnson to break it all down from the traffic center. meisha? >> hey, everyone, happy sunday. here is what you need to know in the worlds of travel and fun today. first the pope's arrival less than one week away. there will be some road closures as you well know. one you should be aware that far will affect your commute on the ben franklin parkway. inner drive will be closed between 20th street and eakin's oval until tuesday september 29th. also, between art museum drive and spring garden street, make note, that the right lane is blocked with equipment set up

today is sunday, september 20th, good morning to you, so glad you're with us, i'm nicole brewer. it is 6:30, we send it taught kyla on the skydeck. how is it feeling out there? >> still feels humid out here. that's something i think we'll notice today, going throughout the day, less humidity. it will start to drop getting into the afternoon. pretty pleasant, though. we having little bit after problem, and that is that we're seeing little fog at the coast this morning, not as bad as it was yesterday. but, let's take live look at the neighborhood network. you can see, live look right now, at cape may courthouse. the sun starting to come up. about 69 degrees, but, it is eliminating the fog that is hanging out there along the coast. so, taking a look at the

you. as you can see, if you're in an affected neighborhood, you probably have seen these signs. no parking at the six -- after 6:00 p.m. today at the parkway in the area from the art sue see up to 12th street and other areas north, south, and east of the parkway, as well, as an emergency route, there will be more signs, and more towing beginning monday, tuesday, wednesday. residents who live in the tow areas must book a space at one every six designated parking garages. those with residential parking permit can park therefore free. those who don't have one have to pay 20 bucks for that privilege. and when you book the space, ppa will give resident per nature allows them to park in the tow area, through thursday, when those garages open. of course, the purpose of all of these closures and towing is to make room for 100-foot archway, performance stages, dozens of jumbro-trons screens, sound towers, to keep the crews who were setting all of this up stage, and even
