are on their way to seattle from washington, d.c. they will meet with the seattle police department about the investigation so far here on the bridge, then they'll go to a secure warehouse to look at those damaged vehicles. in seattle, allyson grandy for cbs news. saudi arabia's king is promising a speedy investigation into the stampede that killed more than 700 muslim pilgrims near a holy site. the disaster happened yesterday when two waves of pilgrims met in the outskirts of the holy city of mecca. it's the deadliest incident at the annual hajj pilgrimage. it draws some 2 million people from around the world. president obama and russian president vladimir putin will meet next week during the united nations general assembly but the two nations are at odds over the focus of the talks. washington insists the meeting should be about russia's involvement in eastern ukraine. putin addresses the u.n. general assembly on monday. charlie rose spoke to him just a

after its cheating scandal. jill wagner is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. good morning, jill. >> good morning, anne-marie. janet yellen needed medical care during her speech. she had to stop. a spokeswoman said yellen felt dehydrated after a long day. after being checked out she felt better and continued with her schedule. in the speech yellen said the u.s. is on track to raise interest rates. here on wall street investors may be encouraged by yellen's talk on interest rates. yesterday the dow lost 78 points, s&p lost 6. caterpillar is cutting thousands of jobs. they say more than 10,000 people will be laid off after consolidations and closures of manufacturing facilities through 2018. this comes after sales and revenue expectations for caterpillar weakened in 20 115 d are expected to end next year.

volkswagen is expected to name the new ceo. they will name matteus mueler. he will replace martin winterkorn. the clothing chain hollister is getting rid of the steps at its entrances. the casual wear retailer designed the store to look like beach houses. critics says it violates the americans with disabilities act. it's making changes at its stores to make them wheelchair accessible. verizon is apologizing for telling a customer he owes more than $2 million on his cell phone bill. he expected a bill of more than $120. it turned out to be more than 2 million. it was a mistake in its automated voice system. verizon is correcting the error. >> good thing he didn't have automatic payment set up. can you imagine the overdraft

the two texas high school football players who blindsided a game official this month are already facing discipline. now the same goes for one of their coaches. that's just one of the headlines on the morning newstand. the san antonio express news says former john j. high school assistant coach max reed will be barred from coaching until he meets with a state committee. reed resigned yesterday. he's accused of ordering the players to hit the ref. reed disputes those claims. the buffalo news is reporting another twist in the sexual assault investigation of nhl start patrick kane. on thursday kane's accuser dropped her as a client. he says he received false information about evidence being left at the home of the woman's mother. kane's attorney says his client is the victim and that the entire case is a sham.

and the "los angeles times" reports police arrested a saudi prince at a gated home on sex charges. police arrested the 28-year-old prince near beverly hills wednesday after he allegedly tried to force a worker at the home to perform sex acts on him. the prince does not have diplomatic immunity. he is free this morning on $300,000 bail. and the daily mail reports donald trump thinks it's unfair that media outlets published photos of a recent campaign event that appeared half empty. trump insists the south carolina ballroom was packed. the republican presidential front-runner says the room was full and that supporters left their seats to crowd around him at the podium. an 11-year-old boy may have a future as a doctor. ahead on the morning news, the incredible story about how he helped deliver his baby brother at home. i brought in some protein to help rearrange the fridge and get us energized!

here's a look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. tonight with thursday night football on cbs the new york giants played the washington redskins, and you can say what you like about the game, but i tell you this, the winning team definitely scored the most points, didn't they? >> great analysis. well, it was the giants. they finally got their first victory of the season. in the fourth quarter giants quarterback eli manning connected with odell beckham jr., and later reuben randle displayed some great concentration to haul in a 41-yard touchdown pass. new york beats washington 32-21. next week on thursday night football the baltimore ravens
