"eyewitness news" here on the parkway overnight for the set up. anyone traveling into the secure perimeter from 20th to 12th street, must go through one of these detectors. so if they catch it here. medical community getting ready for hundreds of thousands of people expected to see the pope. yesterday, they set up first aid and medical tent across the city, there will be 13 total tents, and the one you see here on your screen right by the alter on the parkway is expected to be the busiest. the pop up hospital has advanced life support equipment, if it is needed, and in addition to the tents, there are also five hospitals within that secure zone. >> pope francis addresses 170 world leaders gathered for the united nations general assembly later today on his first full day in new york city. that speech is schedule for 8:30 this morning, the pope's schedule also includes, a visit to the world trade center, a school in harlem, as well as a mass at madison

cbsphilly.com. >> new this morning, fire in the harrow gate section of philadelphia, sends at least one person to the hospital. that fire broke out shortly after 12:30 on the 2,000 block of east tioga street. it was quickly placed under control about 15 minute later, that one person injured was taken to st. christopher's hospital. right now there is no word on their condition. the red cross is helping those who are out of their home. >> shooting sends 52 year old man to the hospital. happened about 12:30 last night on the 2600 block of north 25th street. will he say the man could be victim of robbery or dice game gone wrong. right now in critical condition at temple university hospital. >> 6:06 right now. still ahead this morning, grieving family is pleading for justice after a man in a wheelchair is killed in a police involved shooting. it is a follow to up a story we had first on three. >> and the wait is over for people who want to get their hands on iphone 6s. people are lining up here in philadelphia. but, in california, one woman

>> all eyes on philadelphia, the all-important papal advice. >> i chance of rain we're hearing, first we want to get with the good news tore today, kyla, good morning. >> good morning, so everyone dealing with a lot of these road closures this morning, and the good news we'll stay dry today. little cloudy, with a live look at the neighborhood network, from the palmyra cove nature park, headed across into philadelphia. we are going to get some clouds out there, everybody, relatively cool day today. 66 degrees right now in philly, about 57 in allentown, 57 in lancaster, a look at wildwood, warm willing up, 70 degrees for you. looking at the impact, we talk about what it will do for the pope's visit, also talk about the shore, because you are the ones that see gusty winds to 3 miles per hour, rough surf, we could even get little coastal flooding in there. so this is a live look at storm scan3, this is the system that's going to be tracking to the north, and this is what will bring the threat of rain toward us, for our papal visit weekend. i know that's not great news, but unfortunately, that's the deal folks, as we head toward

the weekend. >> you can see sunday cool, breezy, chance of rain particularly in the afternoon here. 72 degrees, notice the wind there, ten to 20 miles per hour. so, this low pressure system, going to be tracking to the north, and just how far north it get has everything to do with whether or not we get rain there. it is saturday at 11:00 p.m. look at future weather, sunday 3:00 p.m., models showing we're right on the line there. that's why we could potentially see some showers. so saturday headed out for the pope dress warm, breezy, 74 degrees, sunday breeze, clouds, but today no rain. early sun, increasing clouds, high of 76 degrees, tonight low of 59 degrees. pretty comfortable but cloudy going throughout the evening tonight. we take a look at the seven day forecast, you can see, unfortunately, the cool weather, the clouds, all come together, just in time for the papal visit.

avoid center city you certainly want tonight another thing you don't want to forget to do, check your mass transit schedules. we have an accident 95 southbound, before broad street, the left lanas you can see is completely blocked. sorry about the wigly camera, it can make some people dizzy, i'll move that's it, but because it is one of the busier stretches you certainly want to give yourself couple of extra moment, especially trying to exit off of 95 because weaver some closures coming in that direction, as well. the ben franklin bridge closing tonight at 10:00 p.m. coming into philly lost the far right lane. setting up chain link fences for pedestriansment so the ben franklin bridge looking good overall it, closes tonight at 10:00. also steak with me, because we go through all of these closures coming up in about 15 minutes, ladies, over to you in meisha, thank up. 6:13. pope francis is waking up this morning at a townhouse on new york's upper east side. >> that's where andrea grimes from our sister station is joining us now, good morning.

>> good morning, ladies, little ironic for pope known for living so simply, so humbly. he's staling in one of the most exclusive areas, of new york, for his trip here just off madison avenue and east 72nd street for folks who know on the upper east side of new york. let me step out the way so my photograph kerr pan. you can see the enormous security operation underway right now. talking dozens of new york city police officers, not to mention other law enforcement this area completely blocked off to the public, this morning, so we don't have people yet standing by, look to go catch aglimmer p of the pope when he makes his way out, but, very secure here this morning. the townhouse that he's staying in, is about quarter of the way up 72nd street here, you can't really see it, though, but on the left-hand side. 11,000 square foot five story townhouse, donated to the archdioces of new york, now home to the vatican's diplomate to the united nations, the family that used

to live there years ago, were told, deeply religious, catholic family, they had a chapel built inside, so, the pope definitely has some good accommodations, it seems, this morning, but i have to tell you, such a triumphant arrival here in new york city. i'm sure you've seen the welcome he got on fifth avenue. countless, countless people, lining the streets here, joyful event to watch. to see him go into st. patrick's cathedral, just recently renovated just completed, to see all of that, was truly, truly spectacular. we do expect pope francis to exit the townhouse here, later, this morning, around 8:00, 8:15, to make his way to the united nations, which for him will probably take about five to ten minute, not too incredibly far from where we are here this morning. and he has a jam packed schedule here in new york for the rest of the day. but i have to tell you and all of your viewers in philadelphia, you're in for such a treat. when pope francis arrives

>> good morning, pope francis is waking up in new york city where he led evening prayers last night at can't sat trick cathedral. he had jam packed schedule today. we heard yesterday he wakes up at 4:00 a.m. so we know he is up and running. he will address the united nation. >> diane nottingham in new york with more on that. >> good morning, i don't think pope francis is getting much sleep on his trip here to new york city. the pope spent about 40 hours here, and he will begin the day as the fourth pope to address the united nations >> vatican placed for the first time outside this morning, addressing the general assembly. world leaders, including president obama, set of goals to be achieved by 2030, including end willing poverty, combating climate change. in his remarks to congress thursday morning, francis

up. that's been central part of his message, since he's been here in the united states. >> all right, danielle nottingham, live for just new york. now we head over to kyla checking the chance for rain, so the pope's visit to philadelphia this weekend, no pressure, kyla, but anything you can do? >> i know, well, i'm asking for heavenly assistance. maybe the pope can help us out. i would love to see sunday's weather get little better. because right now it is just not great folks. that's the bottom line. in fact, let's take a look what saturday and sunday are looking like. it is cloudy, breezy for both days, you can see temperatures in the low 70s, and a chance of rain on sunday particularly in the afternoon. we have system that's going to be very close to us, and as we take live look at storm scan3, you see where it is now, see that, counter clockwise circulation, that's low pressure system, it will be tracking toward the north. so, that is going to be a problem for us. today, increasing clouds, cooler temperatures today, feel it walking out the door, breeze picking up. so right now, our temperatures at the moment, 66 degrees in

philadelphia, 66 in atlantic city, about 54 up at mount pocono, 75 -- six an in dover, wildwood, 07 degrees, warming up. future weather shows this system will start moving to the north. here we, are saturday, about 5:00 p.m. you see we're cloudy then the rain getting very close, as we get into sunday morning. and afternoon. so that's why that chance of rain is in there. now, the hope is that it will stay little further to the south and help us out. but we have to be prepared for it if you're out and about. today sun to clouds, saturday cool, breezy, sunday that rain chance i think the key here is dress in layers n and just be prepared for the cool, cloudy potentially sunday afternoon rainy weather. meisha your turn now. >> good morning, tgif. we going to get through this together overall note, avoid center september i if you can, detours, vine heavily affected

a and -- on and off ramps. live look from chopper three from the vine street expressway, broad street. you can see just a little ago, looking at great usual all, law enforcement out on site, awaiting the pope's arrival into philly and also we were seeing pedestrians, trying navigate around. i can tell that you you are having a problem getting onto broad street, it is closed so don't even try to do so. also an accident outside, 59, southbound, just let you know what it is before broad street. the left lane is blocked. it is getting bus any that stretch. now, here we go. we go through this together, vine street expressway, off ramp closures, if you take a peak, these are the ones effective right now, east and westbound, broad street, east and west from the ben franklin parkway, and then only eastbound, at eighth street. these are the closures that go into effect tonight, at 10:00 p.m., all the way through monday, the vine street expressway, east and westbound directions, the schuylkill from the blue route to 95, the schuylkill westbound, from 95 to the roosevelt. the ben franklin bridge, the ben franklin bridge closes tonight at 10:00 p.m.

but already right now the far right lane is completely shutdown. not causing too many slow downs right now, just make note of it because it certainly will february have i -- specially pushing, and mass transit and suspensions coming up in about 15 minutes. >> meisha has been talking about it all morning long, road closures in center city in effect ahead of schedule and ahead of the papal advice. >> i barricades went up ahead of schedule. catching a loft us by surprise, including everyone in the billing. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch joins just center sit which more on the traffic tie ups. justin, good morning. >> reporter: erika, nicole, at broad and vine right now. what we're seeing is a very abnormal day here on broad. take a look up the street here. hardly any cars going or coming, that is because there are several blockages in the area, we want to take you back down south here, as you can see, there is a blockage here, right at broad and vine going south toward city hall, down that way, you will find the entrances, for the papal event, this weekend, world

meeting of families at the convention center there. if you make a left, you're seeing the cars are being diverted onto vine, on to the vine expressway as well. can you not go south at this point here on broad street. we have seen over here to my right, you will see this orange car, that's blocking the vine st. going west, and the ramps there, as well. that's a police car, but it is a private officer's car, so he's using his own car to block that street. they are still respected, still is official closure, also seen workers here, who work at hahnemann, other places here, have to be dropped off right at this juncture, and they have to walk to work, and walk to other places, also, too, the staff here at hahnemann, they're caring overnight bags, closing, because, for them, this will be a very long weekend. so as you can see, if you are having to work in center city, do any business here, you're going to have to take precautions, be it drop off yourself early, your car early, drop off loved one

all right, astronomy entheusiasts or just anybody who looks to the sky, in for real treat. >> lunar eclipse coupled with sooner moon all going to take place sunday night. that is a full moon, that appears larger, because it is at the closest point of orbit with earth. now, the most visible, from the america's, all right, including the eastern half of the us, even better, the event is rare, though, the last one was in 1982. and the next one, won't happen until 2,033.

good morning. >> morning, jan. >> erika, nicole, good morning. slowly but surely i'm seeing more student wake up here. i've seen couple of bleary eye student in their pj's trying to avoid our cameras so they can get cleaned up. they are waking up here, we mentioned 350 student from all over the country, canada, puerto rico, here, in philly, to see pope francis while he's in townment take a look at this wall. this is kind of where the kids signed in yesterday as had he arrived. see people from scranton, seattle, houston, over on this side of the wall, san francisco, and again, these folks here at st. joe's prep. they're welcome being all of these kids to philly to see pope francis. now take a lock at the video. these student arrived on campus here in north philly yesterday. they brought only the essentials. that means, back packs, filled with clothes, and sleeping bags. they're actually sleeping on the floor this classroom. as for -- after all, the motto, pilgrimage, not a vacation, still having whole lot of fun.

st. joe's prep treated kids to barbeque yesterday, some gains and pep rally, but the main event of course is yet to come. and back out here live, in the school, we have ryan and paul here, student here at st. joe's prep, part of the organizing committee so to speak. the student body here has spent weeks preparing for all of these student, now, ryan, what's it like to have prepared for so many weeks to finally see all of these kids here and finally almost get to see pope francis? >> such a great feeling to have all of these people out here from all over all the different corners of the ooh needed state, canada, puerto rico, all here, we've been planning this for so long, and just to have all of these kids come here have such a great time at our barbeque and all talking to each other, playing frisby out on the field, playing cam jam, whiffle ball, all of the schools, great to see everyone coming together from all of the different schoolings, but all jesuits, all of the kids with the same backgrounds, just coming and having fun, really awesome to see. >> paul, real quick, what's it like do you think to see pope francis when go to
