meisha has your traffic update coming in just a moment. wet weather held off for the papal visit and for the wonderful mass on the parkway. each day now you get more and more chances for rain. justin has your forecast, good morning, monday, september 28th, i'm erika von tiehl. update on the roads and the weather of course with justin and meisha right now, just happen that i everything was okay for the big mass yesterday. good morning, guys. >> absolutely, good morning, yes, welcome back after long but awesome weekend. good news yes, the clean up has gun, but things going quicker than we and at this time dissipated. that's good. justin i know rain headed our way maybe? >> snot until wednesday, but increased rain chances, today mainly just cloudy day, could see few pikes of sun. waking to up low clouds. can't even see the thomas of the skyscrapers. temperatures little milder than what has been the past few mornings, little muggy, low and mid 06 a's for the current numbers, 63 quakertown, 63 willow grove. so it does feel damp outside.

good news all of the off-ramps are now reopened, looking good, nice steady flow, more and more vehicles take this stretch, because they're starting to hear it is now open, quick peak at the boulevard, as you approach the schuylkill. looking good here, just everyone just kinds of waking up with us this morning, and good morning, glad you're here. this is a look at the spring garden closed between the schuylkill and the parkway. you can see officers just kind of chilling out. flashing lights gone. doesn't matter. no one can go on that stretch yet. i'll let you know when you can. now, to update you on what you can, the vine street expressway, the schuylkill east and westbound directions, ben franklin bridge, sit avenue, 95, off ramp to the vine and broad now open, but if we take a peak down here, the off ramp to callowhill still closed. washington now open. now these are the ones that are still closed. ben franklin parkway, the schuylkill eastbound off ramp to spring garden, and mlk drive, part of kelly drive also, and also, philadelphia international airport, telling

travelers to arrive early, two hours for domestic, three for international because of longer security lines, back to you. >> hundreds every thousands of people converge on the city of philadelphia this weekend and leave behind big old mess. crews are terrific, working through the night to clean up all of the trash left behind so the sit can i return to normal. eyewitness neutral reporter justin finch joins us where clean up is happening, still there is morning. good morning, justin. >> reporter: erika, good morning left with a lot of trash, now part of the clean up. city crews are turning those festival grounds, back no center city, spending the night overnight, and now morning, bagging up bottles, picking up litter, removing concrete barricades, and also, trash. with several hunts thousand people navigating center city by foot, 24/7, much the last week and weekend, a lot of

waste was left behind. so what, say a.m., after all our city was the backdrop to sunday's papal mass led by pope francis and seen around the world. some were up close with tickets, others felt close, watching on jumbro-trons nearby, and man who travel from new york city said he only got to watch on one of the jumbro-trons, but said woe do it all again. take a listen. >> because i believe that the pope brought the holy spirit with him. it was solemn. >> worth it? >> it was worth it. >> reporter: looking now at the stage, there, as you can see, the crucifix and much of the at is her gone. it is back to bare bones again. and trucks here now to carry away much that far structure, we are now recovering from what was historical weekend here if philadelphia, and pretty soon, erika, it will be overnight we will be back to normal.

"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now in center city with the story, jan, good morning. >> reporter: erika, good morning, we are coming to you live from south broad street, jut outside of city hall this morning, you can see the clean up process is well underway here, as well, we've got crews on scene picking up dozens of those metal barriers, and now also happening around 10:00 this morning, the archdioces of philadelphia will hold one more media briefing to reflect on the world meeting of families congress, and the papal have i it about but by many accounts, last week was a success. even though pope francis has left philadelphia, his spirit is still strong in the hundreds of thousands of people his message reached over the weekend. >> we were crying. we were laughing.

we were hugging. hair standing on the backs of our neck, just one of the most fulfilling days of my life. >> despite long lines at security check point, especially for those main events on the ben franklin parkway, most visitors we spoke to say the city of brotherly love earned its title. >> i congratulate philadelphia on organizing such atrocious mend us event, and everything went smoothly for us. >> everyone was great. crowds were great. >> the organization, very well, and the security people did very well, too. so it speaks this that's something philadelphia mayor michael nutter is surely relieved to here. >> this has been a very successful, wild lie successful, completely successful world meeting of families. >> the world meeting of families congress started the week off strong with nearly 20,000 visitors, and the crowds only grew into the weekend. >> the teen tire parkway was filled. there was spill over in a variety every places. there were whole lot of people out there. and, you know, i think as much as we might be fascinated by

the numbers, let's not forget what the vent was. two days of pope francis in philadelphia. >> even though some philadelphians may have left the city this weekend to avoid these crowds, many stuck around, and find themselves with a new sense of philly pride. >> we're glad that these people came. we're glad this our city represented. it was a privilege to be a philadelphian and a catholic this week. >> but not everyone agrees, we did hear a lot of glum bling on the street this weekend, from people that were stuck in long wait lines to get into those secured zones, sometimes so long they decided not to go into the area. take look at this. we found this on facebook this morning. this is a statement by restauranteur mark, he write in part, we're clearly all thrilled that pope francis is here. my only regret is the decisions of philadelphia leaders, instead of engaging the citizens and businesses around this great city in welcoming the hope, they have instead decided to roll out the red carpet for everyone

making the pilgrimage, and pus out in storage for monday. i imagine he would like to see philadelphia as s we are the fabric of this city yet it seems as if the people that make this city great were in large, an afterthought. we will continue to follow this story. the clean up as well as the press conference at 10:00. for now live in certain sit, jan carabeo, "eyewitness news". >> all right, jan, thanks so much. meanwhile pope francis made unexpected stop during the papal parade yesterday. he stopped by the knot dollars grotto next to the cathedral in center city. >> this growth so collection of ribbons with handwritten note on them, each representing a hardship or a prayer. pope francis blessed the exhibit and hugged its curator, sister marry skull yen, of project home. >> so humbling and we're just so joyful, because there has been so many people that have come here over the weeks, moved to tears, writing their struggles, writing their stories, their prayers, and then to think that pope francis blessed those, it is

night. dispatch said the break-in happened just after 11:00. they say three, four men forced their way into the home 2300 block of philmont avenue. the injured man was rushed to abington hospital and is now list in the critical condition. no suspect are in custody. >> 6:14. i know we were hoping the rain held off for yesterday, for the mass, it did, but now the chance is increasing as the week moves on? >> look like middle of the week best shot to see some rain. that's somewhat good news. still down little bit over the past few months, as far as the rainfall goesment look at the temperatures compared to 24 hours ago. actually warmer anywhere from four to 11 degrees warmer. so starting to bring in warmer more humid air mass. you can feel the difference once you step outside today. showers well to the north and west over western and northern pennsylvania, we're still dry, but there are some low clouds, little fog to deal with this morning. so patchy areas of fog specially central new jersey, burlington county right now. visibility down to 2 miles in millville. still okay. different story up in the mountains, mount pocono has half mile visibility.

you just may run into some patches of fog. out in the atlantic ocean, far western atlantic, tropical depression 11, just form, well east of florida, wind at 35 miles per hour moving very slowly to the west at 2 miles per hour. here is the track. eventually to the northwest, and north, could strengthen into tropical storm, briefly, before weakening back to depression there is storm could bring little rainfall to our region this weekend, depending on exact track. whatever is left of the storm. today, though, clouds, maybe stray shower tonight, clouds continue tomorrow, we start to see better chance for some scattered showers, steadier rain moves in, specially on wednesday morning. forecast highs today, warmer up around 799 degrees, mostly cloudy skies, tonight, warm and muggy night. we will be in the upper 60s for the low temperature and the extended forecast again somewhat of summer feel, even with the clouds, we get the high temperatures up around 80 degrees, through tuesday. and then looks like wednesday, that's going to be our weather day, could be heavy rain in the morning, fall temperatures return by the end of the week into the weekend, back into the 60s, so casino of all over the place.

one of the big wins ers from this week's visit to philadelphia, fiat, the car company favored by pope francis. the pope made most of his appearances driven in the little fiat, even buzzing right by the cbs-3 studios, so fun to watch him crews right by. the modest fiat 500l was a big hit. fiat chrysler dealers across the country hoping the pope's advice lit prompt a flood of foot traffic, flood of biblical proportions, aj howard says your fiat, though, will not be exactly like the pope's. >> you pop it open, secret compartment for all of the pope's things, fiat, not yet, that's something we could probably hook up for you. >> and no little flags on these either. according to the wall street journal, car sales are down more than 11% from last year, we'll see what happens now after the visit. >> right now 6:26. coming up in our next half hour, the city trying to get back to normal after the papal visit. justin?

world, friendly, smiling at you there is wasn't the philadelphia i know. >> maybe the philadelphia of the future. >> i certainly hope so. >> over 800,000 people pack the parkway for the papal mass. >> and we just got new video, new into our news room, the pontiff answered questions on his way back to rome, while on board shepherd i, a reporter asked what he thought about the united state. >> philadelphia -- >> translating that, pope francis said he was expressed by the warmth of the people and specifically that philadelphia was demonstrative and really full of emotion, feeling, and love. well, he certainly gave it right back us to, but what a weekend for philadelphia, having pope francis in town the eagles get their first win, coincidence, pat, i think not. >> i think not. >> that's terrific. >> can you imagine the city if the eagle had started zero and three, the emotion from the town then? >> no kidding. >> oh, terrific.

that first win is nice. >> it is nice, eagles got that win which they absolutely needed, no way they could start the year 057th three, so huge early season victory, but we node to dig deep near the game and the team. so let's breakdown what was good, and what was not so good. lets start with the smallest guy on the feel, darren sproles, this 89-yard punt return touchdown. gave the light early breathing room, and swing the momentum in your favor, linebacker jordan hicks says it is a major boost and gets the whole team jack up. >> we were able to -- you know, give the offensive spark, we get a spark, you know, comradery thing that we all have. everything intertwined. >> and hicks certainly back up those words, he started his first nfl game in the absence of bobbing kiko alonso and mychal kendricks and played very well, led the team with

ten took, recovered a fumble, and picked off ryan fits paths trick, third round played like anything but a reichment another rook how helped the causer i can row. little youth second round pick had interception of his own which is huge. the eagles had been easing him in on defense, he stepped up with a big play, and then of course sometimes just need little help, little luck, like when brandon marshall makes the bone headed play of the day, after the catch, tries to flip it back to his teammate. eagles would recover. ryan matthews though he is a top perform err, he was excellent in his 25 carries, 108-yard perform and, caught touchdown pass, exactly the casino of performance the eagles needed specially after two dreadful weeks of running the ball, and what also stands out the eagles able to do it against a very good jets defense. now, let's look at the not so good from sunday's win, because not everything went well. of course, sam bradford, not so good. just a hundred 18 yards through the air, completing only 14 of 28 passes, one

touchdown, and he missed wide open receivers, and really failed deep throw for third straight throw. it time didn't hurt the eagles because their run game and defense were so good. real think kind of play from the leader of the team not going fly for long, they need him to be much much better. receivers as well, receivers and running backs, didn't help the cause either. but their stone hands, third straight game. in this one jordan matthews the only receiver to catch a pass from bradford, so it is mostly on him, but drops again, a problem, including two big once from ryan matthews and darren sproles, here's sam bradford after the game. different things set us back. but, you know, like i said, i don't think there is anything major, really proud the way we fought to get that win to hang in there, to fight, it is huge for us right now. >> yes, so, bradford needs to clean few things up. let's give away this crazy looking game ball here. >> who is a winner?
