strengthening storm, once property call storm joaquin now a hurricane, and it could be heading our way. we're in that cone. good afternoon, i'm erika von tiehl. >> i'm kyla grogan, watching for couple days, and just became hurricane? >> just became hurricane this morning, hurricane hunters were able to get some information. we get more and more information every few hours, so it is important to stay with us and stay on top of it. >> can change so much in the matter of hours? >> it can, but boy oh, boy we

will be seeing impact from this, erika, so let's take a look at this, tropical satellite. see the reds, oranges, those are the cloud tops from the storm watch it means the storm has been able to overcome some of the wind shear, that would casino of keep it from developing, and it has made its way to a catagory one hurricane, right now, watches, warnings, up, in the bahamas, and you can see, they are getting prepared for that. category one right now, that's where it stands, 08-mile per hour sustained winds, you can see gusting up to 100 miles per hour. here's thousand develops, folks. it has strengthening capabilities to about category three get into the weekend, then you can see, as it comes even closer, it is really directly heading for philadelphia, as a category one, word of caution, we are early on in this, we are still watching these models, and as you can see, if we look at all of the different models, call it the spaghetti plot, so much each individual model, there are outline ers there, many of them, have it coming ashore in the north carolina-virginia area, some of them have it

downtown area. greg argos joins us at camden city hall with the impact of the outages. greg, good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon, yes, really is impacting folks, impacting them this morning, and it is actually going to continue impacting them all afternoon because the power is starting to come back on, on some of the thee affected building. remaining closed for the rest of the day. now, told this all started right here around clock 15 this morning, city hall, one of the buildings affected. if you take a look at video, we shot from just little while ago, you can see, person after person arriving with appointment, one supposed to be getting married, all because every these pour outages, cancel. spoke with the spokesperson of the city of camden, they say around 7:15 a.m., that's when the heavy rain created a small fire in one of the transformers, and that transformer lost power. and then, this downtown area, lost power. take a look, listen, what some

of the folks affected had to say. >> what were you here today? >> to have sir ill service. >> get married? >> yes. >> then what happened? >> evidently, no power. >> so around clock 15 this morning, back up generators kick in. we had the power outage it, look to be in the scope somewhat severe in regard to the entire downtown camden area and part of the north camden neighborhood were affected. i think in total, about 2,000 customers. >> reporter: so, you just heard about 2,000 customers. but that does not include simply government buildings. also, told, and we actually heard from some folks, that the methadone clinic across the street, that clinic lost power, as well. so, people lined up, this morning, to get those services turned away. affecting a lot of people. even though the power is coming back on, like i mention, these buildings are remaining closed for the ends -- through the ends of the day, we're told any appointment, any court hearings, will be rescheduled.

>> ooh look at storm damage from east hemp field, high winds blew through early this morning. trees were knocked over, and thousands of ppl customers without power overnight. one side after warehouse was just torn right off in the storm. debris was blown across route 32, but fortunately we're told that no injuries were reported, but really, it is a powerful storm. woke a lot of people up. that system were you saying before has moved north? >> yes but we have more weather, that is tracking along the same cold front. it will bring more showers our way and then tropical system to talk about. >> not enough on your plate right snow. >> i know, a lot going on, we now have a hurricane in the atlantic, thirds one of the season, hurricane joaquin. let's first talk about where we are today. live look at philadelphia. our roof camera. and we're looking into center city. you can see all of the cloud cover there. that's really going to be the

story for today. we have lots of clouds, you can see, potential shower or two out, there and i saw the sun trying so hard to peak through, really wasn't making much progress there. we are warm today, though, little muggy outside. if you head outside, too. let's take live look at storm scan3, you can see, exactly where we're at. this is the clearing that we've seen, hasn't taken clouds it, but a break from the heavy rain overnight. looking further south, you can see, we will get just little clearing trying to get its way in there. however going even further to the south, start to see next problem, is now hurricane joaquin, all right, so we have a lot on our plate, no doubt about it. temperatures right now, 77 degrees in philadelphia, 68 in mount pocono, 77 in wildwood. so, we are little warm. our winds is starting to shift from out of the north. so we had southerly flow this morning, you certainly still see that along the coast, but notice that northerly flow, mount pocono, look at reading about 15 miles per hour right now, get little breezy, too. we do need some rain, and we have been little dry, down almost inch and a half on

july 1st, next five days we could see 6 inches every rain possible. so, we will be doing some catching up. let's time this out for you, show you future weather what happens here. so one low pressure system tracking along the colds front. that's riding the showers. another one, about to head along the same path. that will make things windy. there is thursday, 10:00 p.m. and then we get down little further south, we start to see our next hurt l, which is hurricane joaquin. this is hurricane joaquin currently. pretty healthy storm, developing, these are the higher cloud tops you see in the red, orange. so it has gotten over some of the hurdles it needed to cross. in order to get a hurricane going, you need couple of things. one of them is atmospheric moisture. >> this time of year you certainly have no problem with that. we've got all of that moisture available. we also have warmer ocean temperatures, that helps to fuel a storm, as well. as you can see here off the coast of new jersey in the 70s. so plenty warm. other thing that made it other hurt l, shear winds, chop it off at the top. that's also not been a problem. so this one has got some

strength, everything, these are the models, you can see it is kinds of the spaghetti plot. notice that we are starting to get little concensus here, but still some outline ers on either side there. showing that there is still some uncertainty in the tracks. so while we can look and say right now category one hurricane, 80-mile per hour sustained winds, it is moving southwest at about 6 miles per hour, and expected, concensus of the models you saw, strength tone category three, we get into saturday. and then, head inland, as we get into our monday time frame. you can see this will be about monday 8:00 p.m. coming ashore as category one, and yes, philadelphia, we are right there in the cross hairs, word of caution, that we really are going to see more information about this in the next 24 hours. so we will keep an eye on it, right now bahamas keeping an eye on everything, as they have a hurricane watch and warning up in the islands. keeping an eye on, that understanded we will have more rain from our cold front before we see any action from joaquin. currently 77 degrees, there in philadelphia. there is our cloudy skies, wind out of the northwest at about 9 miles per hour.
