>> good afternoon, breaking this noon, arrest is made in the sexual assault and robbery of temple student. police say 23 year old shakree bennett is behind it. >> let's get out to rahel solomon at the headquarters with the latest, rahel, good afternoon. >> afternoon, pat. well, last week police had announced they had a person of interest in custody for an unrelated crime today as we mention we learn he has now been charged with the rape and robbery of a temple student. police believe the suspect 23

year old sh ands kree ben it approached the student monday, just before midnight, 1400 block of carlisle street. bennett allegedly hit the 20 year old victim in the arm with a handgun, and told her not to scream before stealing several items from her back pack, and sexually assaulting her. shortly after the incident, video of the suspect was released and it was apparently taken not long after the incident, and shows the suspect smiling and seemingly un bothered, police say tips from the public identifying the man in that video is what helped them nab bennett now charge wad long list of crimes, including rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. reporting live at police headquarters, rahel solomon, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> police are also investigating two robberies near temple. >> one involved carjacking, both though involve temple student. police say the robbery took place around midnight on the 1800 block of north 15th street. it is not clear what was taken and the robbery victim was not injured. the carjacking happened near

tenth and susquehanna around 2:00 this morning, police say the robberies were not related and there have been no arrests. >> we are expect to go get an update this afternoon on the suspicious death after delaware doctor. there will be a news conference at 2:00 about the 55 year old psychiatrist who was found dead yesterday inside her home in hokessing, new castle county. police have a suspect in custody. no other information has been released at this time. >> the death after haddon township toddler remains a mystery this noon. autopsy results on three year old brendan createo have come back inconclusive, now family awaiting medical testing result. hours after brendan's father called 191 police dog found his body in the woods of local park tuesday in camden county. no charge have been filed. and no arrest haves been made. >> and police need your help in tracking down the suspect who robbed a man on the street in center city. take a look at this video, from the 1300 block of locust.

the suspect asked the 69 year old victim for money, then pushes him to the grounds, and steels his wallet. >> this happened on tuesday night, about 10:45. take a good look at this video, if you recognize this man, we ask to you call the police. >> penndot says the chestnut street overpass over i-95 will be closed until at least the weekend for emergency repair work. chopper three shows the closure near penn's landing. crews noticed crack in support peer yesterday, and the overpass was closed off. traffic being detoured for now. >> president obama declared america war in afghanistan over andrew out plans for an almost complete withdrawal. but, after month of reviewing the situation, the president has decided to change plans. craig bosworth is at the white house with more details. president obama changed his minds bringing us troops home from afghanistan by the time he leaves office. while america's come bags

mission in afghanistan may be over, our commitment to afghanistan and it people endures. >> the new plan has the us reducing it troop level from it current level of 10,000, to 5,500 by the end of 2,016. under the olds plan, america would have kept just 1,000 troops in cobble. the bottom line is in key areas of the country, the security situation is still very fragile. and in some places, there is risk of deterioration. >> us military officials came to the white house and recommended the new plan to the president because of the taliban's resurgence. the millitant group captured the afghan city last month, the first time they've been able to overrun a city since 2001. there is also growing concern, from us commanders, that isis will gain new recruits in afghanistan. >> administration officials tell cbs news the forces will be stationed at four key bases at a cost of around $15 billion, 5 billion more than originally estimated.

the us forces will continue to focus on counter terrorism threats, as well as the training and advising of afghan security forces as they combat the taliban. craig boswell, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> for the thirds time since 2010, no benefit increase next year for more than 70 million social security recipients. the annual cost of living adjustment is based on inflation levels, and the government says inflation is being pulled down by lowered gas prices. >> and it is not clear what cost a glitch in the computer system that checks airport passenger names against the terror watch list. the homeland security computer system went down for about an hour and a half last night, tan caused backups at new york jfk and other international airports, customs and border protection agencies are saying there is no indication the service disruption was terrorism, nora hacking attack. >> well, coming up here on cbs-3, "eyewitness news" at noon, we are hearing the 911 call from when former nb a and reality star lamar odom was

odom found unconscious on tuesday, at a brothel, outside of las vegas. >> he had blood coming from his nose and mouth, taken cocaine and sexual and sexual performance enhancers. >> can't get him to wake up. he's like not -- almost not breathing. >> okay, is he conscious? >> no. >> he has white stuff coming out of his mouth and blood coming out of his nose? >> the owner of the breath he will speaking out, he says police have told him there was no evidence of drugs used in odom's room. >> the police look through his things, and they didn't tell us they found anything. the girls that were hanging out with him, didn't see use of any illegal drugs at all. >> county sheriff has secured search warrant to take blood samples from odom in the hospital room to see if there

the average hi, tomorrow same deal, the weekend where we cool it down. 50's for highs on saturday, and sunday, and talking about mid to late november-like temperatures, specially for the second half of the weekend. right now, the 60s from philadelphia on southward. still some 50's across the colder suburbs north and west. here's the set up right now on storm scan3. nothing happening this afternoon, few passing fair weather clouds. cold front across the great lake, swing our way tomorrow, bringing few clouds, maybe stray shower, but really the chances are small at this point. high pressure over us today, keeping us dry, here's that front. mainly during the morning, that's our shot to see passing shower or sprinkle. should see more sunshine in the afternoon, it is this front, though, that bridges in the colder air starting saturday, wind kicks up highs in the upper 50's, sunday core of the coldest air settles in, low 50's. timing things out rest of today looks great, few passing clouds, tonight few more clouds increase, actual front trying to come through friday morning, this model really not picking up on any rain.

more sunshine for the afternoon. weaken here we go. that strong coal front bridges in the cold canadian air mass, talking about the coldest air of the season, highs running ten to 15 degrees below average, there is the potential for some frost and pat's been on me about this, worried about her flowers, but i think you may be okay. we do have clear skies, light winds, ingredient, still some of the surfaces grass, the cars, can get the frost going on, looks like several hours to end the growing season, we won't get that. mostly sunny today, 66 the high temperature. tonight it is cool, 50 degrees, here's the extended forecast. and as again the weekend, that's when we will be dealing with the chill, up ear's saturday, low 50's sunday, and next week guys looks like we start to warm it back up pushing 70 by wednesday. pat if i have to come over to your house and cover those plant, ill. he'll bring blankets. >> and might call you sunday morning. >> thank you so much. certainly bittersweet day here at cbs-3 as many of you know our pat ciarrocchi is sitting

out to be the defining moment in a career of broadcasting excellence. as the pontiff ascended to the door of shepherd i, little did we know, we were listening to and watching some of the final moments of local broadcasting history, pat knew it was time, what a time it has been. >> good morning. >> pat started here in 1982, and anchored our morning newscast for years. growing up in chester county, working in philly, television was a dream come true. then it was onto evening magazine, which she hosed in the 90s. >> hello everyone and welcome to israel and the city of jerusalem. >> also worked as a health reporter for a tune, not to mention anchoring the noon and 5:00 newscast and hosting talk philly. let's get a ticket for this long train running. >> boy did we have some fun. >> what's in scrap snell. >> you don't want to know. dude, you don't want to know. >> everything! >> that's the scary part. >> earning the nickname sister pat, born out of her reporting

on the catholic church, even traveling to the vatican six times, something she would never brag about, a top vatican official came to see her during this year's papal visit and praised her coverage. pat has received prestigious honors, locally and nationally, well deserved. to our humble friends, though, it is about her work, for pat, every story is personal, every story is a chance to connect, to empower, to help. >> the children will march on. and carry on alex's legacy of hope. one cup of lemonade at a time. >> we will miss herzl fishily, because she did so much for alex's lemonade. she new the foundation. she new our family. she new alex really well. >> she joined cbs-3 in champ owning causes like the fight against pediatric cancer. writing a documentary and co-hosting our alex's lemonade stand foundation telethon each year. >> every time we sit down and she interviews me, she always manages to say something that

just really grabs at my heart and makes me realize how deeply she understands and how connected she is to helping other people. >> pat has spent the past 25 mother's days at the race for the cure alongside breast cancer survivors, family and friends. >> pat ciarrocchi has been a sister to the susan g. komen and the race for the cure, and all of our haven't, she has an emotional bond with these women, the women relate to her, they feel her compassion, and she gives them a feeling of being whole again. she is unstoppable. >> and for three decades plus pat allowed us to look into the window of her soul, and she did it with such style, courage, and amazing grace, and now it is wheels up toward life's next journey. >> and with that we say --
