car, saline tries turn around, but he fell. he started shooting. >> police say the gunman fired 17 times. west, was shot in the back. and anderson says he saw his friends slip away. >> i ran back down the block. i see all of these cops. then i go across the street, he laying there, traumatized. >> anderson's mom now dealing with pain on two fronts. dealing with the death after beloved young man, and coping with the fact that her own son was so close to danger. >> he was hurt. i know he is. he is trying to hold it in. but he's hurting. he said that he watched it, he watched his friends die. >> you can see in the video 15 year old with west at the time of the shooting wasn't physically hurt. he was able to run away unharmed. however, this entire community is hurting reporting live outside police headquarters, jan carabeo, "eyewitness news".
