up his final witness, which was his accountant. now, fattah junior son every democratic representative chaka fattah accused of defrauding banks, us prosecutor today demonstrated to jurors, using screens built into their seats, series of loan applications and default settlements from various banks around the city. under names and numbers of companies that the federal government says fattah did not start and did not exist. the jury's also going to have to decide if fattah fudge dollars budget report for a school system that he worked for. now, a very striking piece of evidence used today or secret recordings from a colleague and former friend of fattah where in them they discussed the settlements from banks, and what that money was spent on, fattah remains but simply worked hard for his money. this case is obviously a big one, very populated courtroom this afternoon, still going on, we'll head back in there, and bring you more when we k for now reporting live from federal courthouse, alexandria

"eyewitness news" caught up with voters casting their ballots in northeast philadelphia today. people performing their civic duty this, didn't encounter any long lines, and similar scene over in new jersey as turn out at this polling place in washington township has been brisk. the big race to watch, the garden state, is state assembly. all 808 seats now up for grabs. >> and many eyes focused on philadelphia today, as voters will select the 999 mayor in the city's history. "eyewitness news" cameras were there, as democratic candidate, jim kenny, cast his vote within the last hour at the first reform church at third and race streets. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch has been out at the polls all morning long, and he caught up with kenny's republican opponent, melissa murray bailey, as she cast her vote today. >> about 8:30 a.m. tuesday,

republican mayoral candidate and local business woman, melissa murray bailey, was up and out, with her young daughter, casting her ballot in society hill. she hopes many more voters do the same. and choose her as the city's next mayor. >> people do want to see something different in philadelphia. and they know that that's what i bring to this. >> off snyder avenue in south philly, polling boots owned at 7:00 a.m. sharp at the whitman library, where many are backing jim kenny, the former city councilman turned democrat mayoral nominee, who also grew up in the neighborhood. >> we know for years, we know what kind of guy he is, what kind of person he is. he's honest, a big deal when you are a politician. >> though voter turn out is expected to be low, and kenny is the odds-on favorite to win the mayor's race, still urging voters despite their views to still come out and cast their ballots. >> we're asking to you get off your couch, come to the rec center, come to the library, do what's responsible as an american, and honor the memories and the efforts of those folks who really put

themselves on the line to get the right to vote. >> my hope was people come out and get involved in the voting process? a process that ends tonight. in south philly, justin finch, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". and here's what else is on the ballots in philadelphia today. all 17 seats are up for grabs on city council. the philadelphia voters also have several ballot issues to decide including whether to permanently establish an office of lgbt affairs and department of planning and development. and state-wide, unprecedented three seats are now up for grabs on the pennsylvania supreme court. your choice today could make a difference for a long time to come. and, voters in montgomery countly elect new district attorney today. democratic candidate, kevin steel, hit the polls early this morning, our camera captures steel and their family as they enter polling place in wynnewood. steel is a career prosecute here has worked in the montgomery county d.a.'s office, for the last two decades. and steel's republican opponent is current montgomery county commissioner bruce castor.

castor of course previously served as district attorney there, from 2,000 to 2008. his decision not to prosecute comedian bill cosby on sexual assault charges in 2005, has become a focal point of both campaigns. steel is accusing castor of failing in his duty to protect a victim, castor, though, has claimed there was not sufficient evidence at that time against cosby to move that case forward. >> voting into day's election may make one person $10,000 richer. local non-profit group is behind the it pace to vote initiative in the city of philadelphia. fewer than 30% of philadelphia's registered voters cat a ballot in the may primary. and today's cash will be given taught randomly selected poler at polling spot within the city, a plan that's got a lot of support. >> i think it is absolutely worth a shot. you know? we can get start ringing your hands about what we want informed voters, and everybody ought to have to study before

on luigi nuzi. >> book titled merchants in the temple, where he says the pope's men are lined up on one side, while on the other are his enemies. the defenders of the status quo, adverse to any and all change. that change was started shortly after pope francis was elected. he set up a special commission, to examine the vatican's finances. the books claim the commission found numerous short comings, and areas where there was virtually no accounting for how money was spent. nuzzi talks about how the most rituals are tainted by money like the procedures for beautification and canonization, marketplace in which millions of dollars change hands. the vatican's response to the book says then twofold, first, a statement attacking the them as the fruit of a grave betrayal of the pope's trust. and arrested two people who were on the commission, one a priest, and the other a woman, who was a public relations
