"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is live with more on what is causing the problems a and more importantly how it can help, jan. >> reporter: nicole and erika, good morning. you may think it looks pretty stock in here right now but the food bank of south jersey has had a tough time getting its hands on that thanksgiving center piece the turkey, usually at this time they have about 15,000, frozen, turkies, but because, the avian flu from earlier this year ere is thousands of turkies behind that goal volunteers here at the food bank of south jersey have been busy. sorting food at the pennsauken warehouse and packing it up for delivery.

to the 250 emergency centers and soup kitchens that the organization serves. >> 200,000 people year round, need is big. >> reporter: unfortunately this year chief operating officer joe, and flu and turkey prices made it difficult to stock up on the thanksgiving day stapel. >> we were not able to purchase as many turn is as we wanted to and that is coming down to the holiday season. >> reporter: the food bank usually collects more than 15,000 frozen turkies to satisfy a need. this thanksgiving it is shy about 5,000 birds. they are hoping for the the type of generosity that showed up at philabundance this week. shop rite donated 600 turkies to the south philadelphia location but philabundance still need other supplies, just a dollar donation can provide two meals to people in need. so if you want to say twice a week for the next few weeks that $10 will equal 20 meals to people who need it. >> holiday season is about
