from tredyffrin township, walt. >> reporter: jessica, part of the scott cannon's job here is helping protect environment in this main line community, but state attorney general's office now says he polluted it instead and today criminal charges were filed against cannon. this main line media news picture from 2012 shows former public works director scott cannon, next to a leaking pipe, but this arrest warrant claims that here at the tredyffrin township public works complex the the same year, it was cannon, who illegally poured between one and 4,000 gallons have of a chemical, magnesium chloride in the retention pond from which it fled in the nearby creek. prosecutors claim that cannon opened up a valve allowing magnesium chloride to flow out, the chemical, same one used by some road crews like these, to keep highway, snow and ice free.

according to the arrest warrant, magnesium flowed on to the ground, to the grass and then downhill. the grass where magnesium chloride flowed died and turned brown. respond go to a cbs-3 inquiry, cannon's attorney e mailed a statement, mr. cannon was surprised and disappointed to learn that charges were filed against him. mr. cannon denies that he violated any law or caused any environmental harm. magnesium chloride is merely a common salt product, used to treat road during the winter. >> and cannon's attorney also points out that currently cannon has filed a civil suit against the township, will challenging his termination back in 204, and finally the attorney challenges the attorney general's office, right to file charges, citing the suspension of the law license of attorney general kathleen kane. meanwhile cannon has been released on his own recognizance following arraignment, his next court appearance set for preliminary

hearing january 15th. live from tredyffrin town ship chester county, i'm walt hunter, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". san francisco authorities say that a man was removed from a plane carrying new jersey governor chris christie today. we're told incident happened as flight was about to take off from san francisco around 8:30 this morning. that is when passengers say the pilot turned boston bound plane around and went back to the gate. passenger was removed from the flight but still unclear what he did, and this picture posted on twitter shows governor waiting in the airport. flight was ultimately delayed for about four hours. it is marathon weekend, thousands will hit the pavements on sunday and thousands more will be there watching and cheering them on. in the wake the of the paris attacks, security will be extra tight, "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff was there today as race weekend kicked off. >> reporter: pushing forward is what runners do. >> always thinking positive because you have to. >> reporter: as recent acts of terror seek to shatter the
