just about 6:00. we send it to ever justin for more on the forecast, i know it is cold outside, but that's about the extent of it. >> a lot of people are saying hey does it feel like the holidays. >> this week it will. even next week, highs only in the 40's. >> careful what you wish for, right? >> right t won't last, though. not locked into cold weather pattern any time soon. actually warms up for thanksgiving, we'll get to that coming up a little later in the show. this morning, big change compared to yesterday at this time. we take you outside, though. nice and quiet, live look from the roof camera, center city looking south. there are some mid to high level clouds outside. but they'll break up. so we will see the sunshine out this morning, sunrise coming up at 6:52 in less than an hour, and again, temperatures, big difference than yesterday. anywhere from 11 to 22 degrees colder. so jacket, coat wet they are morning for sure. seeing many locations out below freezing, in the outer suburbs, 29 in allentown, 30 in reading, 42 at the airport officially in philadelphia, so, most likely, waking up to some 30's in some of the

coldest suburbs, may drop another degree or two right before sunrise, winds, calm, to about 5 miles per hour or so. so there are areas of frost this morning, and you'll be scraping it off your car. big storm system across the midwest, steady snow flying over chicago. that will storm is really going to miss us, as far as this moisture, just bring some clouds, what you are seeing right now, more clouds tonight. that's about it. it will drag cold front through here. just locks in the colder air for the rest of the weekends of the today slowly warming up to 50 by noontime, sunshine, clouds, make it up to about 53 for the high temperature for philadelphia, mid 50's, little more sun in south jersey at the shore, and chilly day in the mountains, 45 degrees, and partly sunny skies. we talk about the colder after for sunday coming up in just a few minutes, nicole, back to you. >> justin, thanks. new this morning, crews are battling two alarm fire in pennsgrove, new jersey. crews responded just after 10:00 last night to report of heater or furnace fire on wes pittman street. crews quickly place that fire under control, then, just before 1:00 this morning, that fire sparked back up, and fully engulfed that home.

fortunately, there are no injuries. but the house is completely destroyed. two families have been displaced and crews are still working to put out that fire. now, to the latest, on the deadly hotel siege in mali, africa. we now know the american among the dead has ties to new jersey, yesterday's siege comes just one week after the deadly terror attacks in paris. "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco has the details. >> mali police joined by the french and one off duty special forces open force 100 hostages from the radisson blue hotel in the capitol of mali. gunmen armed with grenades moved in just before 7:00 a.m., driving a toyota suv with diplomatic plates. started shooting in an attack that left at least 20 dead including american anita detar. forty-one year old from the baltimore area who grew up in new jersey. she works for a non-profit group helping under served communities. >> we are devestated by the loss of our wonderful daughter. >> one witness says the men

were shoot -- shouting: god is great. they spoke french and english the at 1.170 people including 14 americans, were held hostage. >> it is very so sad, actually, sad, because mal is he a peaceful count. >> i in southwest philadelphia, the owner of nile african restaurant has been keeping a close eye on his home. he says the former french colony has been battling islamic extremists for years. >> this is one of the best hotel in mali. and security so tight. and i can't believe they can't keep this place, because a lot of checkpoints before you even get inside a hotel. >> they all need to come together to fight this. >> the french defense minister believes north african al quaida operative is responsible for the attack. he is responsible for kidnapping dozens every westerners, in a attack in algeria that killed 39, including three americans. us war planes tried to kill him in libya, but the pentagon could not confirm he was dead.

>> the us defense department has confirmed that employees in the city are all safe. there were five at the hotel at the time of the attack. in satellite center, diana rocco, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". and, president obama has since condemned the attacks in mali. the president spoke during business summit in kulae almost poor, malaysia, condemning attacks, vowing to fight terrorism. like the hain isay tax we saw in paris, attacks we see all too often elsewhere, this is another awful reminder that the scurge of terrorism threatens so many of our nations. and once again there is bar bar at this only stiffens our resolve to meet this challenge. >> meanwhile, the healing has gun in paris, after the deadly attacks that killed 130 people. parisians remembered the victims with candles and flowers at memorials to mark the one week anniversary last night. at 9:20, the moment of the first attack, music and

dancing filled the streets. authorities are still searching for a ninth suspected terrorist who got away after those attacks. belgium has raised its terror alert to the highest level, warning of imminent threats. belgium has charged at least three suspect in connection with the attacks. well, race weekends for the philadelphia marathon is here, today and tomorrow, run letters hit the pavement with tens of thousands of people expected to attend. and of course with the recent terror attacks in paris and in mali, officials are beefing up security, alexandria hoff live along the ben franklin parkway with more on the race and also increased security measures, good morning, alex. good morning, nicole. well, this is a flat and fast course relatively speaking, so this is a favorite for elite runners, worlds wide, the main marathon will take place tomorrow, but today kicks off with the rothman 8k and the hands cycle race. >> pushing forward, is what runners do. >> they're always thinking positive. because you have to. >> as recent act of terror

seek to shatter the global spirit, the kick-off to the philadelphia marathon kept in gear. >> between now and sunday, 25,000 runners are going to have to register here at the convention center. they're going get one every these bags with all kinds of supplies, also clear with increased security. >> if you choose to car a bag of your own, for personal items, those bags must be searched by security. >> checkpoints will be established on the ben franklin parkway, between 18th and 25th streets. the philadelphia marathon app was unveiled. also, unveiled, the rigorous training behind mayor michael nutter's spirited race day high five. >> you will see displays of high five's which you have never seen before. >> but the most important high five was handed out early. >> get to get the award, high five award from the mayor himself, kick off marathon weekends is incredible. >> two summers ago, while training for a triathelon, glenn was hit by a car, and paralyzed from the chest down. he is returning to the philadelphia marathon this year, not on his legs, but on

these people to run that marathon tomorrow, i can tell that you. >> all right, thanks, alex, we appreciate it. well, new jersey governor chris christie delayed for hours in san francisco's airport after an incident aboard his plane. christie was on united airlines flight from san francisco to boston yesterday morning, while still on the ground, passengers say the pilot turned the plane around, went back to the gate to remove a passenger from the flight for some suspicious behavior. now, picture posted on twitter shows the governor, there waiting in the airport, christie spoke about the incident after arriving in boston last night. >> well, the most important thing was, it was a full flight, and everybody safe, everybody landed here, got home, and, you know, during the current atmosphere, you know, you can never be too careful. >> that's for sure. the flight was delayed for about four hours, christie fors today canals he will campaign event in new sham shire because that far delay. coming up next on "eyewitness news", chemicals in your personal care products could be dangerous. how congress is trying to find a way to fix it. >> and, a road ripped apart.

>> on the health watch, chemicals in beauty products, experts say, there is very little oversight into what goes into those products. and, of course, putting them on our skin, our hair, and it could be changing.

the information there, health reporter stephanie stahl explains. >> it a standard beauty routine, hair, nails, and of course, make up. but there is growing concern that some of the products we use to look good, actually, could be causing harm. >> it is because of the addition of more chemicals. >> senator diane fine stein lead ago bipartisan effort, to give the fda more power to ensure skin and beauty products are safe. >> well, i this i we really need to look very closely at some of these ingredients. because we know that at higher concentration can be toxic. >> many products are made with chemicals, like formaldehyde, used in products from nail polish to some chemical hair straightens, and known to cause cancer. a commonly used cosmetic preservative, and lead acetate, used in hair dye. under the proposed law the fda would test whether those chemicals are being used as safe levels, if not, they can force a recall. >> i think our laws should

provide for adequate testing of chemicals before they go into widely used products. >> the bill expected to pass, politicians are supporting it, and so is the industry. and already the european union bans more than a thousand chemicals from personal care products, of those, the us, only bans 11. i'm stephanie stahl, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". it is 6:13 right now. landslide destroys road in southern california. take a lock at this video here. road in santa collar eat a started to buckle on thursday, by friday afternoon, just complete mess. locals say they've never seen anything like this. officials say loose earth actually slid under the asphalt, pushing one portion of it, 15 feet higher than normal. now, right now, they don't know what caused the landslide. >> and check this out. not what i want to see around here, that's for sure. the first big snowstorm of the season, blaze ago path, through the northern planes, and upper midwest this weekend. this is what it looked like in

souix falls, south dakota on friday. parts of the state got up to 18 inches of snow. creating hazardous conditions, as you can imagine, on the roads there. the midwest can expect more snow today, so it is not letting up. i don't know, i don't want to see anything like that here, but i'm in the minority. maybe some people would. i don't know, justin? >> right. some people do like the cold. get egg that colder air today. obviously no snow. still snowing in chicago right now, so if you want to take quick trip out to the midwest, maybe additional 6 inches. out in the west, mountains, good news from the areas. for us again dry weekends, little breezy specially tomorrow, and big story now is the cooler temperatures this morning, waking up with our weather watchers, some 20's, ranking up to the low 40's, really depends where you are. check it out, up in gilbertsville, eileen murray 26 agrees this hour, temperatures really dropping. we have got the frost going. allentown, julia 31 degrees, miler northampton county, bath, charles 37 degrees, connor in chesterfield, also upper 30s.

cherry hill at lynn's house, 39 degrees. clementon, new jersey, lawrenceville, both low 40's this morning. we struggle to get near average this afternoon. so, let's take you outside. down south to the rehoboth beach region,, boardwalk plaza, getting ready to decent looking sunrise, further south, little less cloudiness we're dealing w breezy along the coast, check it, north northeast wind 18 miles per hour, 47 degrees, this morning. but still about not a bad morning for the morning jog on the board wal in rehoboth beach. average high this time of year, mid 50's, not even yost to that, go back to thursday, yesterday, pretty much on target, just feeling colder because we're not used to it, today similar conditions, then talking upper 40's, sunday, the core of the coldest air coming in monday, looks like some of the cold isay of the season we've seen, will arrive in time for the start of the work week. there is the storm over the midwest, bringing the steady heavier snows out toward chicago right now. this front will come through

tonight, brink bring some colder air, most of the moisture staying well to the north and west, actual center of the storm rides up across the great lakes. we may get stray sprinkle coming in the poconos later on tonight. >> still under high pressure right now. so we see dry conditions today. sunshine and clouds. little bit on the cool side. lower 50's, there is the storm system rolling on through, dragging the front, locks in colder air for sunday, monday, still dry sunday, sunshine and clouds, little breezy at times. and the core of the coldest air really set unless on monday. temperatures only in the low and mid 40's for the afternoon highs. that's good 10 degrees below average. today, winds, eventually switching off the ocean out of the east, 10-mile per hour, or less. the cold front comes through overnight, so that starts to kick up the wind tomorrow. so breezy day, sunday afternoon, winds up around 15 miles per hour, maybe some higher gust toss near 30, that northeast winds starts to bring in the colder air. not much happening today. look for more sunshine through the afternoon, but clouds, quickly move back in tonight as that front approaches, but again, not a loft moisture.

maybe get spotty shower, to the north and west, lehigh valley, poconos, then for your sunday, starting off some clouds, should see increasing sunshine throughout the day. here are the temperatures today. upper four's, to low 50's, maybe some mid 50's, some of the warmest spots. then tonight, those temperatures kind of hang out in the 40's, because of the clouds. holding in some of the heat. noticeably cooler sunday. check it out. even no matter where you are from the shore all the way up to the mountains, chilly day. temperatures generally in the upper 40's. forecast high today near average at 53. sunshine, clouds, this afternoon, northeast breeze, coming in about 10 miles per hour. mostly cloudy tonight. cool 44 degrees. could be worse this time of year. and then that eagles game tomorrow, 1:00 kick off, tampa bay coming to town, 48 degrees, it will be windy, northwest wind at ten to 20 miles per hour. but classic football weather, on this mid november day on sunday. fifty-three today. we go to 50 sunday. mid 40's, on monday under partly sunny skies, then we bring back full sun for the second half of next week. look at that, each day gets

little warmer, thanksgiving sunshine at 58. and "black friday", look at that, making a run at 60 degrees. >> that's good shopping weather, justin. >> yes, it is. >> i approve of that. >> thanks, well, since it is marathon weekends, there are some closures you need to know about if you are driving in and around the city. here is meisha johnson from the cbs-3 traffic center. meisha? >> hey, everyone, here's what you need to know as you navigate around the city this weekends, first as you know we have the philadelphia marathon taking place, and because of this, we have some closures to talk about. first, the ben franklin parkway is closed. the inner drive is closed until 6:00 p.m. sunday. and the outer drive is closed until 2:00 p.m. today and then again 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. tomorrow. also, there are some ramp closures tomorrow as well. interstate 95 southbound ramp to columbus boulevard, the vine westbound ramp to the ben franklin parkway and the vine eastbound ramp to 23rd street are all closed. additionally, mlk drive closed both today and tomorrow. you can expect closures

wraps, all ready for the athletes when they finish the fine i shall line. starting up in just under one hour, weaver l wheelchair, hand cycle, rothman 8k. >> runners have a way of staying in motion, even when events around the world seek to make them pause. nearly 30,000 runners and 60,000 spectators over the weekends expected, there is no stopping these dedicated athlete. >> some of it -- let's do that, let's think that way. that's how runners this. >> i mayor michael nutter consulted with homeland security this week, and said no credible link, still heightened security put in effect. areas around the event will act as secure zones, stretching from 18th to 25th streets on the parkway. anyone look to go get into the start or finish zones, will have to pass through the security checkpoints. as was the case with the world meeting of families, clear bags have been issued to all participants. spectators, please remember,

if you choose to carry a bag of your own, for personal items, those bags must be searched by security, prior to entering the start-finish >> speaking of the start finish zone, seeing the athletes starting to trickle in now, once again, that 8k will kick off in just under one hour. the 13.1 and 26.2, they'll be run tomorrow. reporting live from the parkway this morning, alexandria hoff, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> thanks. protesters took to the streets in center city friday. civil rights, anti-war and political groups came together for what they called rally against war, racism, islam phobia, police repression. philadelphia police were on hand, no word on any arrests, some roads did have to be shutdown because of the disruption. told that everything is now back to normal. urgent plea from philadelphia animal shelter. they've run out of space. and they have some special offers that they hope will help to find homes for many of the dogs there.

"eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown has more. >> meet rough us, very friendly, mellow guy, and petara. >> came in as a stray, about three to five year old mama. >> just two of many dogs in desperate need of adoption at the animal care and control shelter in philadelphia. >> all of the health remembers full, so they need them to come in, foster lives, encourage adoption. >> over-crowding at the shelter forced staff members into a heart breaking decision on thursday. >> we have euthanized about 22 dogs yesterday. it was really hard on staff and l volunteers, pretty much everyone. so it was a sad day. >> at the shelter, hope's good days are ahead with new push to adopt. they're offering free adoptions for all large breed dogs. >> you can imagine, we've been swamped. >> it is sad, you snow, that

they could be put to sleep. >> with so many adoptable dogs, it is authorities walk away without one. our cameraman, dennis richardson, couldn't resist rufus' charm. says they've seen huge response of people trying to come in to adopt dogs, remember, large breed dog adoptions are free, all do you have do is pay $15 pet registration fee if you live in the city of philadelphia. in hunting park, natasha brown, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". that's a great story. another good story here. grand donation for a good cause at the children's hospital of philadelphia. take a listen. >> sound every newly donated stein way piano, will sit in the lobby of the university city hospital. the piano's can cost upward of $30,000, was actually donated by the parents of former patient. they say they did it because they wanted families to be up lifted by beautiful music in their time of need.

the auto maker is recalling its entire fleet of model s sedans. wants to check their front seatbelts, after one became disconnected. now the recall involved 90,000 cars world-wide. there have been no accidents, or injuries, related to that problem. well, sometimes, if your car gets recalled, it doesn't always mean you'll get a quick fix, some people complain there aren't enough parts and mechanics care out the repairs right away. actually going to stay little below average, we head to sunday, monday, average high of 54, close to that today, tomorrow, struggling to get to near 50. highs on monday, only in the 40's. don't get used to it, though, warm it back up as we head into thanksgiving holiday. some left over clouds over us right now. they are thinning out. we go generally mostly sunny, later on this morning, but clouds quickly move back in tonight. here is the reason. storm system out across the midwest bringing heavy snow to chicago right now, actual center of the storm moves to the north. we're just going see some clouds roll in here tonight with the cold front. once the front passes by, it ushers in some colder air for sunday into monday. we see increasing sunshine, for sunday, and mix of sun and clouds for your monday, but again the story is just some cold temperatures, little below average. today, low mid 50's, at best, tonight, not quite as cold as this morning, because of the clouds. mid 40's, for the overnight low temperatures. then here is sunday check it out we struggle to get close to 50 degrees, so, we're running oh, 5 degrees or so below average.

and the reason is the jet stream, it is on the move. there is the core of the coldest air, northern planes starts to track southwards. that core settles in over us on monday, so that's why we are talking about highs only in the 40's, then watch what happens. this jet stream moves back north. here comes another push of some milder air. it is not record breaking. but talking about temperatures returning to around 60 by the end of next week. cool day today. sunshine, clouds, 53 for the high. tonight, not quite as cold. mostly cloudy, 44 for the low, them looking a led to your thanksgiving holiday next thursday, looking good. mostly sunny skies, temperatures back above average at 58 degrees. so, few cool days ahead, with sunshine and clouds, both saturday and sunday, highs in the lower 50's, only in the mid 40's, on monday, with overnight lows even at the city right around freezing, so the suburbs will be dropping well to the 20's, but each day, it gets a little milder. we will see a lot of sunshine for next tuesday, wednesday, and thanksgiving, back to the upper 50s, and "black friday", 06 degrees for the high, next
