is shaping up to be a beautiful thanksgiving day. katie has your holiday forecast. we have gone up 2 degrees since yesterday. >> we are continuing that nice warming trend, nice warm here at the surface courtesy of the return flow around high pressure. in other word nice warm air sent our way from the the south and that will keep things really comfortable here today. for standard ovulate november notoo shabby. let look at what this month has had up its sleeve. the obvious trend has been above average, right? only blocks that stand out here as cooler then average were 14th, saturday a couple weeks ago and last two days, or i should say, monday and tuesday of this week where we were just a smidge below average. six below the normal isn't too bad, so we're really trending well above the normal so far and we have got a shot of the top ten. we are expecting a cool down though by the month's end which will be discussed but for now it is all good here on storm scan three things are calm, quiet.

good morning. >> reporter: good morning. fire fighters say there were no working smoke detectors found in that home. had there been working fire alarms there may have been a good chance that man escape. fire officials say they got several calls about the the fire, about 12:22 this morning, they say crews found heavy smoke, fire when they pulled up to the house on 1929 brunner street, they say brunt of the fire was emanating from the the first floor front facing room, fire fighters then forced their way inside ape got the fire under control in minutes. second search turned up an adult male victim on the first floor as he was pronounced dead at the scene. fire commissioner sawyer says that fire was one alarm and that crews got inside and get to work quickly. >> fire on the first floor, once they made entry they knock down the the fire quickly. fire was placed under control in 16 minutes. it wasn't like it was a difficult time. there was a lot of fire heavy

fire upon arrival. we don't necessity how long fire was burning. but once we made entry and put water on the fire, no fire fighter injuries. >> reporter: as you can see looking at that home a total loss on the first and second floors here. fire marshals have been on the scene, the the cause of this fire remains under investigation this morning. that victim who did die he is presumed to live alone. he is 13th fire death in the city this year, that is down from 30 last year. officials say if you don't have a working alarm in your home to call 311 and that fire officials will see it is installed properly. we are live here in nicetown i'm justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". two people are rush to the hospital after this nasty crash overnight in olney. the cars are all smashed up thereafter colliding at north third street and west fischer avenue around 2:00 this morning. we're working to find out how those victims are doing. also an accident shut down section of the route 422 in upper providence overnight.

nearby penndot camera captured crash scene as police responded. it happened around 1:30 in the westbound lanes near oaks exit. two people were taken to paoli hospital, both are expected to be okay and police are investigating the cause. all lanes are now back opened. wound pad state trooper is home celebrating thanksgiving this morning less than 48 hours after he was shot on a center city highway. >> i'm feeling much better. >> reporter: trooper patrick casey left hahnemann university hospital wednesday morning. he was shot during a gun battle on the vine street expressway on tuesday, authorities have charged the gun man 17 year-old giovanni coto with attempted murder. coto's father is glad his son and officer are both alive. >> what do you want to tell the office their was hurt. >> a pol guys to him and his family. i know his father, he got his mom, he got his father. like me i got my mom, got my father, you know, a pol guys

turkey, i could not reach. >> reporter: you guys are gearing up for another big year, the the table are set, numbers ready to go. what do people need to know when i don't want to cook my turkey, i want you to do it what do they need to know. >> basically all you have to do is basically drop it off. we give you a number. you come back later on in the afternoon and they will all be laying out ready to be taken back. >> reporter: is there a better pan then another. i see last year some were disposable pans, some were sturdy, what is the best. >> just a a nice sturdy metal pan. the aluminum ones we don't like them because they burn us because the juice from the pan just pours all over you and it does not feel good. they are annoying to get in and out of the oven. they are not, these are better right here. that is what we prefer. >> reporter: you get the a better tasting bird with the brick oven. >> yes, with the pans it doesn't really matter so you

do it for us because we like sturdy metal pans. >> reporter: you guys get a a lot every year, is what the most, how many turkies on average. >> on average it is always around 125. the most i can remember was like 140, 140 turkies, and there were people walking in at the very end right before, and one year a lady brought in a frozen turkey and we had to tell her we couldn't help her. that was upsetting. she learned her lesson. >> reporter: you do have a space issue, you can only jam in so many turkies. >> unfortunately we do run out of room. >> reporter: with that said when should people start lining up because i know people come early, some are sitting outside. >> they are out there right now they are all tailgating. there is four cars, and bunch of people waiting. >> the doors opened up at 6:00. >> until my dad gets the here. >> reporter: you will start tagging, wrapping and throwing them in the oven. >> and giving news interviews.

today, people are left over, or even in the fridge. we have stores that are opened for you or opening soon rather. radio shack opens up very earl any less than three hours at 8:00. then shoppers can go to jc penny at 3:00 this afternoon. at 4:00 doors opened up at hh greg and old navy. there should be a big crowd when toys-r-us and best buy open up at 5:00. start looking for bargains at wal-mart and target at 6:00. we have more store showers on cbs philly.com. for second straight day protesters fill the streets of chicago. >> they are demanding justice after a police officer killed a teenage boy, now we are seeing video of what led up to that confrontation. also, creed is knocking out competition at the the the box office we have word that the record the movie already set.

protesters ripped the life from chicago's christmas tree. it was among protest one day after a police officer was charged with first degree murder in the fatal shooting of a teenager. as adrian diaz reports there are calls for a change in police community relations. >> demonstrators took to the streets of chicago, again wednesday, protesting the police shooting of 17 year-old

laquan mcdonald. some tossed at officers trying to hold the line. more dash cam footage was released which shows mcdonald running from police after allegedly vandal icing cars. footage released shows jason van dyke firing 16 times at mcdonald killing him. van dyke's attorney said the officer yelled at mcdonald to drop the knife that he was carrying. >> he shot mcdonald because he was in fear of his life. >> reporter: van dyke was charged with first degree murder. an autopsy shows mcdonald was shot twice in the back and the drug p c thep was found in his system. city of chicago already settled with mcdonald's family for five million-dollar. there is a public outcry over what took so long to release video and bring charges against the the officer. >> it just appears that when the victims appear to be under privileged or minorities, that it takes a long time to have justice come their way. >> reporter: judge will revisit issue of bond at a
