good morning, three people are killed, including a police officer when a gunman opens fire inside a plant pander hood clinic. coming up we have new information on the suspect. also, the holiday shopping season is officially underway. big sales brought out bargain hunters for a take full of shopping on black friday. and all that lead up to today small business saturday, we're live with more on the day dedicated to supporting our local mom and pop shops. it is saturday in 28th i'm erika von tiehl in for nicole brewer. we will check with justin drabick for theorecast. the a lot of folks heading out to hit the stores, good day to go shopping, what do you think. >> temperatures will be warm, we are tracking showers but it will be later on today later tonight. saturday is looking g in the bad for november if you like warm temperatures. if you like it cooler, just

wait, there is nothing cold in our forecast but we will talk about a few rain chances. the lets break it down as soon as you step out it is mild, 52 at the the airport. now it is cold weather this morning but for this time of the year that is good. mid 40's in quakertown, 50 in willow grove. we have cloud cover and that is holding in the east. unlike yesterday visibility much better. we are not dealing with the dense fog, that is 10-mile visibility in philadelphia, down to four in dover but still that is good. there you go, generally mostly cloudy skies a few peak of sun at 7:00 this morning. you can see rain showers across central pennsylvania. these are breaking up but there will be a cold front approaching late this afternoon into tonight. we will see rain chances increasing for second half of the day but throughout the morning and afternoon it is dry, temperatures in the 50's, lower 60's by noon time with sunshine. by 3:00 o'clock we will increase chance for maybe late

rain shower. on the road this morning, no problems, even afternoon if you run into the light shower it will not pose a threat to the travel and in the evening slightly slower conditions with few showers around. good light hanging forecast for today, 65 degrees with the cloud, watch out for showers late in the day. tomorrow morning there will be more rain chances but by afternoon we will check out with sunshine with temperatures in the 50's. we will have increasing rain chances in the seven day as well. erika, back to you. we have new details in the the deadly planned parenthood shooting in colorado. colorado springs police identified the gun man as robert lewis dear, two civilians and one police officer died in the shooting at that clinic. the officer has been identified as 44 year-old garrett swasey a six year veteran. nine other people were injury in the attack. cbs news, correspondent karen morfit has the latest. >> reporter: a police officer and two other people were killed after a gunman opened fire at colorado springs

planned parenthood clinic on friday. >> all i cap say is my hearties broken. thinks a really tough situation for a lot of people in our community. >> reporter: officers rush people out of the building after police exchanged gunfire with the suspect. osi le tana was park outside planned parenthood building when he came face-to-face with the gunman. >> he was looking directly at the my face and he was aiming for my head, i could see it in his eyes, then that first bullet went right here. >> reporter: police say suspect identified as 57 year-old robert dear, was arrested after a six hour long standoff. >> we did get officers inside the building of the planned parenthood and the the officers were able to shut to the suspect and make communication with him and at that point they were able to get him to surrender. >> reporter: police say man carried a long gun into the the building and shot at several officers as well as responding swat team members. he then barricaded himself

inside. >> we know that the suspect brought several items with him and some of those are inside planned parenthood building. >> reporter: at least nine other people were injured including five police officer. >> so far police say they don't know the gun man's motive. karen morfit for cbs news, colorado springs, colorado. some planned parent clinics in new york had increased security. also southeastern planned parenthood organization which operates the clinicness our area released this statement in part: quote, our top priority is safety of our patients and staff. the situation in colorado is tragic and our hearts get out to everyone involved. stay with "eyewitness news" for continuing coverage of the colorado planned parenthood shooting. we have latest on line and on air at cbs philly.com for updates. right now 6:04. it was a busy black friday for shoppers in our area crowd piled into area mas and outlets for the biggest shopping day of the year. cherry hill. >> reporter: black friday 2015 is in the books and shoppers tell will "eyewitness news" it is definitely one to remember. >> well, this was first time i had a chance to do it because i always worked on black friday. i said well, i will go out today and see what the all of the hoopla was about. >> reporter: tens of thousands poured in and out of the cherry hill mall thanksgiving night and all day friday starting in the morning at 6:00. >> we got really good deals. the it has been fun. >> reporter: some shoppers are calling the hours a little bit more old fashion, why? last year cherry hill and other local malls stayed opened for more than 24 hours, not the the case this year. >> i don't think they should be opened on thanksgiving day but black friday is always like a opening of all of the shopping for christmas and stuff, hanukkah, and in response to that. >> reporter: shoppers told "eyewitness news" clothing stores had the best deals and the crowds were packed. >> we have been coming for three years. it is about the same crowd. i feel like the later that they come the more crowded it is. >> reporter: according to the national retail federation

survey a little less than 136 million people will shop in stores and on line for the four day weekend. a big number that shoppers are not surprised to hear. >> there is some deals in some stores is and not so many in others and you just to have look for them. >> reporter: in cherry hill, i'm david spunt for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". big holiday shopping weekend continues today, local businesses are trying to capture the attention of the holiday shoppers with small business saturday. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff joins us from haddonfield, doing a little shopping, i see we have added a vest to your beautiful on it fit. where are you in haddonfield. >> we're at jack's boutique. i was going to say you interrupted my shopping here. this is very important excursion i'm on. >> go ahead. >> it is distracting, isn't it. last year, 88 million americans came out to shop for small business saturday, it was coined six years ago, post black friday to get the

community focused, take a moment to go back from the big box stores and keeping the local economy flowing. as you can see i have been decked out here my girl jamie, the owner of jack's boutique in haddonfield. she helped me out with this. just gorgeous. i'm a big fan of the faux fur this season. tell me what your hopes are for today on small business saturday. >> it is just a chance to get everybody in the community out and shopping at our stores. just as they live in haddonfield they might not be familiar with the new stores that have come in so it is just a chance to see is what out here. maybe become a good customer. >> reporter: what are some challenging in owning a small business. you are young. you have a hip store. what are the challenging. >> sales go up and down. you have slow month, busy month, weather in a town like this is a huge factor. we have been getting a lot of snow lately, so people are not out and about in that. >> reporter: this can be a nice safety net for you guys

going into the the winter and snowy season is to have a really good small business saturday. >> we could not ask for any better for a town like this where you walk around. >> reporter: we were at your battery, a few doors down, it is nice because it almost seems like they will take care of the coffee, fuel, get people fueled up. do businesses work together in the small business environment like this oh, absolutely. we do different promotion as lot too which is fun. everybody here really offers something different. we have something for everyone here, i tell my customers all over, they ask us for recommendations and we can point them in the right directiony took your recommendation here and i put on a thousand of these. would i put them all on if i could. i action you'llly love them. this is something new. coming up you are taking a popular. >> they are bourbon and bow ties. they are really big in the the south and they are starting to make their way up here. we're one of the few stores that do carry them. they are all hand made in florida which is, so awesome,

to really be able to supporting on made in the united states too. >> that is nice. >> reporter: thanks for being with us. i will keep playing dress up here. we will send it back to youy can give you our credit card information if you want to pick something up for me. >> reporter: i got you covered. >> alex, thank you. cyber monday could start off the week for retailers. estimated 135.8 million consumers shop this holiday weekend. that is up from last year. from black friday through cyber monday, shoppers are expected to spend $80 billion in stores and on line. cars and electronic are hottest items with new star wars toys and other american. for some it is most wonderful time of the year but a new consumer report poll shows that anxieties americans feel when it comes to the holiday season. 64 percent of those surveyed drug crowds, and long lines. 35 percent, grimace at the thought of weight gain. 15 percent said,

the white house is proudly displaying its official christmas tree and it is a tree from montgomery county. it was delivered friday morning. first lady michelle obama was there when it arrived. bus for's farms of lansdale cultivate that had 18-foot frazier fur planted in 2001. twenty-nine owners jay and glenn buster that you can see right there, with the first lady were on hand for the horse cart delivery. all aboard santa express, jolly old saint nick traded his sleigh on market frankford line as a way to get around. sanity, mrs. clause and host of new friend paraded through 15th street concourse in center city. once they got aboveground they kick off holiday season with gift bags full of goodies and ice skating at dilworth park. sound like a great the day. are you looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend? if so, it is season to put 1

with snacks and beverages and warming cottages new this year. it is opened through end of february. hard to believe we are ice skating in the 60's but justin it is great weather for it. >> it feels good to be outside. take advantage of this nice weather. we will be bringing in some rain but it is in the a big deal. the best shot is late this afternoon tonight and early tomorrow morning. but overall, we're waking up to some warm temperatures, once again, still, cold jacket wet they are morning. we're in the 40's but this time of the year we cannot complain about that. let's head to the north and check things out. john jenkins house in perkasie he has 46 degrees with some cloud around this morning. closer to philadelphia, we will head to phil chapline's house, we have 49 degrees as well. the cloud keeping temperatures pretty much uniform. way out in chester county we have head out to nottingham, fran has 50 degrees with cloudy skies. check out what is happening in new jersey, clementon, david dutch, milder at 52 degrees, and then, similar conditions farther north in chesterfield.

ed connor checks in at 50 at this hour. again, you may see a lit built of sunshine today, earlier this morning. nice moon as bill sent this in overnight. we had high thin cloud. we had a halo of the moon in some spots. that is a sign of our storm system that is on the way. the let go outside right now and heading further south, rehoboth beach, delaware where we are seeing a little bit more clear skies and getting ready for a nice sunrise in about 45 minutes. temperature 52 degrees. southwest wind coming in at 8 miles an hour. there is some good surf out there throughout the entire weekend. if you are a surfer hit it. it will be light wind. the nice conditions in delaware and the new jersey shore as far as surfing goes. water starting to cool back down in the mid to upper 50's. it the has been impressive the in in have of november. each day in orange indicates above average temperatures. almost the entire month. we had three days where we had below average temperatures and we were at average on wednesday, but then again that

looks like the trend today well a a have above average. this will be top five, warmest novembers we have haddon record for philadelphia one more mild day to day, and then shower chances do return later today, tonight and next week. we will talk about temperatures cooling down. no signs of any true cold winter air just yet. storm system, cold front, not a lot of moisture. we have scattered showers in western pennsylvania. they will track eastwar. late the this afternoon say after 3:00 best shot to see scattered rain around the city and once again tomorrow the actual cold front moves through. bulk of the rain and ice in the central u.s., that part of the system weakens and stays away from frustrates. lets time things out the here as far as travel conditions go throughout mid-atlantic and northeast hitting the highways you might run into a shower or two. steady rain well the two south and west over the ohio valley. as front moves through it weakens and breaks up those showers, for tonight, cloud, shower or two.

tomorrow morning steady rain. if you are heading southward toward d.c., baltimore and virginia first half of the sunday will be wet and eventually throughout the afternoon we will get rid of that rain and sunshine returns from north to south and improving conditions for sunday afternoon. how much rain are we talking about? well, through tonight not a whole lot. each model a tenth of an inch or less and maybe add another additional tenth of an inch for sunday's rain. that gives us a quarter inch or less. this isn't a big storm system. better chance for heavier showers coming in the picture on tuesday. temperatures well in the 60's to the far north and west. even allentown hit 60 degrees once again today. tonight we will start to bring in cooler air with that cold front. tomorrow high temperatures will be in the 40's to lower 50's which is right up to average this time of the year. jet stream back on the move, southward allowing that cooler air to build in. keyword not cold. cold air stays well to the north up in canada but still no true signs of the sustain arctic air in our forecast

over the next week or so. today mild mostly cloudy, sure late at 55. tonight we have a couple showers at 48, then that forecast morning rain sunday and then some sunshine, more showers return tuesday and wednesday. highs pretty mild in the 50's. erika. >> we will take it, thanks, justin. california's historic drought is taking a major toll on the state's wine industry. it is not producing drapes and drying up wells and other irrigation. but as chris martinez shows us there is hope on the horizon and its name is el nino. >> reporter: at this state vineyard you cannot miss impact of california's drought. >> these are all definitely dead. >> reporter: this years grape harvest is taking a devastating hit. what should this have have looked like. >> huge. >> reporter: vines here that typically produce about 1 ton of grapes per acre only produced about 200-pound per acre. >> some vines straight up

quit, rain is really what need to happen. that is what we need right now. >> reporter: many wine makers throughout california are hoping el nino is the answer. the powerful system will now second strongest on record could bring record rain to the region which wine makers say is badly needed to restore ground and well water now at record lows. national weather service meteorologist mark jackson says that while there are in guaranties the odd are favoring a wet winter. >> if things work out just right and we get kind of rainfall that spreads itself out it could be extremely beneficial for agriculture. >> reporter: that is a welcomed prediction at this vineyard where winery name sake is dried up. >> we're walking across the dam. water would never have come here but it would have been close. >> reporter: grape production here was down this year by nearly 30 percent. jason hoff says another dry year could dramatically hurt his business. >> i'm sure that will be

we're looking at 49 in wilmington. good morning, dover. you guys are at 48 at this hour. even up in the poconos temperatures right around 53. pottstown, quakertown, doylestown, cooler in the suburbs in the mid to upper 40's. we have, visibility, here, few areas of some fog, trying to develop especially south jersey, millville visibility down to 1.7-mile. three in dover. but overall much breather conditions compared to yesterday at this time. wind still calm. we have a comfortable start to the morning heading out for that early morning jog to bush off that thanksgiving dinner still. it is still pretty good. we have seeing showers off to the north and west. they will get in here later this afternoon and tonight but morning is good. temperatures, climbing up, in the lower 60's by noon time say 3/clock or so but scattered showers. it will be light and keyword scattered. on the road morning and afternoon looks good better chance for showers coming in the evening but that shouldn't impact traffic too much. we're on our way to 65 for a high temperature and 50's up in the mountains.

police. two people from philadelphia are dead a after a both capsized off the the coast of new jersey. that fatal accident happened at 1:30 in the afternoon in the manasquan inlet in monmouth county. dave car len from cbs two in new york reports. >> it the looks like there were about seven people in the water. >> reporter: overturned boat a pontoon was pulled from the manasquan inlet, dozens of fisherman, surfers and residents on the shore of point pleasant beach watched over its boat and its unlucky occupants when tall waves swamped it. >> one wave came up behind it and almost tipped it, and as soon as it hit they just kind of sat there and next wave came upright behind it, and tipped it over the the rest of the way. >> reporter: out came smart phones to get photos, and record videos of the small boat in trouble with people inside the water and rescuers who arrived in boats from the the shore and also from overhead.

to mid 50's, with our next storm system. here's is what happening today though, right now just some cloud over us, is there a cold front that stretches all the way down to texas and now the the bulk of the storm system is still out across the central u.s. still some ice in oklahoma and western texas, for us, we're on the north side of the system, a couple of the scattered showers rolling through late this afternoon and into tonight. maybe we will get a period of steady rain early on sunday morning but then out of here for the afternoon. wind are late today. it is comfortable out of the west. notice arrows reporting southward. north wind develops tonight. that is cold front that pushes through. it starts to bring in colder air. we will get rid of the 60's in our forecast and then sunday afternoon that north wind continues, highs will struggle against the average. this is what we're talking about. this cold front moving through, not a lot of moisture witt. keyword is scattered showers, late today and tonight. then they may have a pocket of steady rain early on sunday morning basically from the city south and east as a front stalls over the region. then we're back to some
