5:31 am
forward but today, exactly, we will start off with the the bad news. storm scan, you know, it doesn't look all that impressive right now does it the? until we put things in motion and throw a satellite on top of it. it is a dreary start to the day. one zoom out on storm scan shows moisture creeping our way this looks identical to how it did yesterday with the heavier bash to the southwest making a beeline toward delaware valley and by midday we will see a heavier batch of rain we think pick up across the region. so for now it is mainly fog and mist, and spray from vehicle, but that said we're stig stuck with this frontal boundary and moisture it has to offer up and until it clears out of here, we will to have dodge showers, pretty much anytime today, if not pockets of heavier rain. other issues is the visibility, the entire length of the i-95 from wilmington through the city and up to trenton is under a mile visibility right now. so that i would say is the the number one concern for your travels, but you're going to be dealing with the wet
5:32 am
weather regardless. the here's a good synopsis of what the day has in store. period of rain any time. patchy fog, areas have of mist to go witt. it is not raining the at any given moment it might that be fine mist because it is a saturated air mass. poor visibility because of it. slower travel. ponding on the roads. it the is led to lane closures which meisha will discuss but this is an all day event, again, i mean i know you are sick of this storm but it is a big storm and it means time to get out of here. the the good, i guess you can say one bright spot of this forecast is that these temperatures are well above average. we will eke out the a high of 50 degrees. we're pretty much already there. so temperatures can only go up from here, meisha, one bright spot. >> yes, 58 degrees by 3:00. i will take any amount of rain for 58 degrees in december. any amount, stay with me here. 422, taillights moving eastbound direction of troop are road. new ramps in this area. they opened yesterday. that is good news. you can see volume levels are starting to pick up, on 422 the at trooper road.
5:33 am
the the blue route headlights moving in the southbound direction at route one, same thing here, volume levels are just now starting to pick up a little will bit. as we move through the morning we will see this progress toward the 6:00 o'clock hour a lot of people will be leaving their homes earlier today, because we are dealing with those slippery wet conditions out there. interstate i-95, headlights moving in the southbound direction at the airport looking g volume levels increasing a little bit right now but no major delays at the the airport which is good news when we are dealing with any weather medical events. airport road is closed between 95 and mcarthur road. use an alternate basin road to to upon the highway. another area of flooding in new jersey, route 38 westbound ramp to route 130, that left lane is still block, another update in five minutes. nicole, over to you. meisha, thank you. facebook founder and ceo mark zuckerberg announced a generous gift as he and his wife welcomed a new baby girl in the world. communities. >> can people in the the next generation learn and experience hundred times more things then we can. >> reporter: zuckerberg joins the growing list of the wealthiest americans including warren buffet and bill gates promised to go give away a bulk of their fortune to charity. >> it the is a signal to many who have significant wealth, want to make a difference, that you can do it in your lifetime. >> reporter: zuckerbergs hope their donation will help human potential but promote equality, writing if you feel you will get to prison rather than college because of the color of your skin or your family will be deported because of your legal status, then it the is difficult to reach your full potential. now the the couple has set up the chan/zuckerberg initiative that will manage the money they will donate to charity. it will focus on learning, curing disease and building stronger disease a lot can be done. >> incredible chester, for sure but what do you think it means for his role and ceo of
5:36 am
facebook. he said giving up 99 percent of their shares. >> reporter: they addressed that. he plans to remain ceo of facebook for many, many years to come but it the will take sometime, obviously to donate these shares and that in doing this now he can create the the most good, by starting early rather than wait until later. he plans to give more details later on in a couple months after his paternity leave. >> wow, beautiful gesture though what a lesson for their daughter. >> reporter: absolutely. >> jan thanks, appreciate it. time is 5:36. in business news this morning, wall street's new month is going pretty well so far. money watch's jill wagner joins us from the the new york stock exchange with more, jill, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. pretty big start to decber. traditionally a strong month for the markets. dow jones rose 168 points yesterday, and the nasdaq was up 47. yahoo may put its search engine up for sale. wall street journal says yahoo's board will meet the today to talk about selling its core internet business

yet but more rain is on the way. >> absolutely, it the is that clammy cool feeling to the atmosphere even though it is technically well above average. we're almost 10 degrees above the normal with the expected high. so lets go out there and check with our eyewitness weather watcher network a lot of temperature readings right new through new jersey and delaware in the low to mid 50's. that is no the bad at all. it is already where we were top off for daytime highs. ever so cooler depending on location, a place like a nottingham will where fran is checking in at that 47 degrees, but still it is cool outside. he however is dealing with some very dense fog. so much so he put tonight all caps. he has a half mile visibility there. meanwhile you are not finding it every where. we will go next to kerry, hoist report agent this point mount laurel 53 degrees but in fog here. that is essentially the the story. it will be somewhat patchy in nature but when it comes up on you, it will come up on you quick and you will lose that visibility. keep that in mind, visibility, it is kind of the issue this morning but eventually with
5:47 am
time we will see more rain build in. there is rain out there you have mist from the vehicles, you have definitely got the spray out there as well and that is going to be the the story for the the rest of the morning. the heavier batch of rain is also on the move being drawn north along the leading edge of our cold front. and when that gets here and what it will bring is a heavier pocket of rain to slow you down further. we need this cold front to cross complete thely before we're totally done with the storm. here's the cold front draped all the way back to the western gulf of mexico. area of low pressure with this storm will bypass us to the north so we do not have to worry about any kind of really cold air invasion behind this but it is a cold front. it will live up to its name and it will income our temperatures reading back. school day forecast you can imagine it wasn't an awesome grade for a day like this we will still give you a pass at the a d plus but that is worst you can be without failing, right? so, expect that you will need the glushes, umbrella, send the kid out there with the
