that mass shorecast 14 people now confirmed dead, more than a dozen is seriously wounds does. two suspected shooters, one a man, the other a woman were killed in a gun deltas with police, we also know a third person has been detained, there's no motive but the fbi says he said not ruling out the possibility of terrorism. cbs reporters danial nottingham has more. >> reporter: police say two suspects aman and woman were killed in a violent gun battle with officers, where they allegedly mass accident occurred 14 people. man was identified as said faruk. as part of the investigation, police were watching a resident and spotted the suspect vehicle. >> they were dressed in kind of assault style clothing. >> reporter: hours earlier, gunfire had raiment erupted

inside the regional center, the suspect walked into the social services building wednesday morning where a holiday luncheon was under way. >> workers locked themselves in offices and sent texts. others called loved ones. >> i told them to just hunker down make sure cell phones were off. don't make noise. >> reporter: emergency workers turned an interaction in a triage area to treat the injured. >> i called her, she texted me and she said she was cold. she told me --. >> this is the seventh mass shooting in the united states within the past five months. police are still working to clear the social services building where at least one explosive device was found, daniel nottingham cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> eyewitnesses are recalling the moments of terror as the gunman unleashed a barrage of

well. unfortunately, not everybody came out of it ok. >> reporter: some were witnessing the terror unfold via text messages from loved ones trapped inside. >> shooting in my word people shot in the office waiting for cops. pray for us. i am lost. i am lost and helpless. >> when the gunfire finally stopped after several minutes, 14 people were killed. 17 others injured at the social services center. he spoke with his wife on phone, she got a glimpse of one of the shooters. >> the guy outside dressed in plaque with a big gun shooting at the window. >> a fearful got a gut wrenching look at what life would have been like if anything would have happened to the woman he loved. >> this is my life, my queen, i'd do anything to protect her. she helps kids with autism. i don't know why anyone would do anything right there.

>> reporter: while the motive behind the mass shooting remains unknown fbi officials are still investigating whether this was an act of terrorism. certainly a terrorizing experience for all who lived through it. >> most of the victims were all centrally located in one area of the facility. they came prepared to do what they did as if they were on a mission. >> as many as 670 employees work at the massive social services facility. hundreds were evacuated and taken to a secure facility nearby before finally being reunited with loved ones. we're live in the stat center, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> even people who were not in the building at the time of the shooting witnessed the terrifying moments. magee was weather in an adjacent building and saw the gunman open fire. >> i turned around and said what the heck is that? she came and said, i said it sounds like gunfire and we both look out the window. as we look out the window, a second set of shots goes off and it's bop bop bop and we saw a

man fall to the floor. then we just looked and we saw three men dressed in all black military -- military attire with vests on, holding assault rifles. >> some of the survivors say they were pretending to be dead while the gun men were inside. >> there are a lot of moving parts of an investigation this big, diana rocco talked with a local fbi veteran to get his insay it about the steps law enforcement is taking now and those it will take in the coming days. >> the report of an active shooter or shooters comes in around 11:00 local time in san bernadino. a flurry of local law enforcement moves in joined by the fbi. trying to flush out the suspects. >> hundreds of people in there. there was always the fear that the shooter or shooters have now blended into the crowd of victims and witnesses. >> former fbi agent claver says

once the wounded are tended to officials start looking through surveillance footage for a description of a car or shooter. in an la suburb of million, the public is their most valued resource. >> you're going start with looking at any video you have, tray and get a vac, get a description. you want to get as much information as you can to the public about any descriptions you have. if they can get enough tips, enough pieces of information the vehicle is here, they can start to, maybe get a pattern of where the vehicle was and start to at least hone in. >> reporter: he says he said going to take time to see if it's a act of terrorism. that should give them a clear picture of who they are and what the motive was. >> i think what we're going to see is the people who committed this attack had some connection to the location, the event or people that were in it. >> reporter: now, the fbi is assisting local law enforcement

in this investigation in the coming days, law enforcement will be looking into this to suspect. cell phone records and e-mail correspondence hoping to give them a better picture of exactly what happened here. . live outside the fbi building that center city i'm diana rocco cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> thank you local leaders in our area are taking to social media to express their feelings about the mass shooting. pennsylvania governor tom wolf tweeted thoughts are with the victims their families and the entire san bernadino community following tragic mass shooting there senseless. chris christy says praying for all those victimized by the shooting in san bernadino today. >> president obama spoke with nora o'donnell after the remain page. he emphasized the need for gun reform legislation. >> we have a pattern now have mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world. and there's steps we could take

not to eliminate every one of these mass shootings, but to improve the odds that they won't happen as frequently. common sense gun safety laws stronger background checks. >> the predent added gun control reforms will make mass shootings in the u.s. rare as opposed to normal. >> today's deadly rampage is button in a string of mass shootings in the past five months. >> past friday three people including a police officer were killed when a gem opened fire at a planned parenthood facility in colorado springs. nine others were injured in that shooting. on october 1st, nine people shot to death at community college in oregon. nine others were injured. the gem took his own life. on july 16th, the shooter unleashed a hail of gunfire at two military facilitys in tennessee. four marines died a fifth service member died later at the hospital, who worry others wounded. june 17th, nine people died at

>> we continue to follow the deadly mass shooting in san bernardino, california. eyewitnesses say three people dressed in tactical gear went into a social services building and started shooting. 14 peel were killed. many others injured. investigators say two of the suspects a man and a woman were killed during a gun battle with police nearby. one of those suspect social security identified assaye he'd foo luke. police detained a third possible suspect and you are conducting raids as they desperately search for clues. fbi meantime has not ruled out

terrorism as possible motive for the mass shooting. >> huge delays on i-76 near montgomery drive after a three car accident shuts down the highway. chopper three over the scene of the crash which happened just before 10:00 p.m. police say two people were rushed to the hospital but their injuries are not life-threatening. the interstate has just reopened but traffic is moving very slo slowly. the cause of that crash remains under investigation. sixers rookie jahlil okafor suspend for two games after a second video emerges showing him a violent confrontation. the nba star allegedly fought a heckler outside a boston nightclub last week as seen in this video released by tmz sports. statement from the sixers said in part "while we are disappointed with his recent actions we have faith in him as valued member of the sixers". >> suspect is facing murder charges to night in the death of a vineland mother and her three month old baby. police say ricardo santiago led them to the bodies of neidy

ramirez and her daughter genesis in western cumberland county. suspect has five-year-old child with ramirez but he was not the faster genesis. police believe he kill the mother and daughter on friday when the victims were last seen. >> he voluntarily came in and through questioning the investigation broke open and he was charged last night. they were co parents and it appears there was some sort of dispute going on. >> police will not comment on the manner of death. santiago is being held on $1 million bail. tonight we have dash cam video of the arrest of a father who triggered an amber alert yesterday. former plea officer was arrested yesterday on the garden state parkway in clinton. police plucked his three-year-old daughter rebecca from the mini van. police say he abducted the girl after stabbing her mother. rebecca was not harm. charges are filed against an accountant who police say stole from a 100-year-old woman. this is the suspect, jean swain, of yardley.

police say she stole more than $116,000 from her client, 100-year-old elizabeth webb who lives in assisted living facility in middle town township. in 2013, swain became power of attorney. something the delaware county da says you need to be extra careful about. >> it's explosive. it's an explosive document because you put it in the person's hands that is unscrupulous it's the wrong person's hands. he may take advantage or she may take advantage of everything that you've worked for all of your life. >> swain had more than thee hundred thousand dollars in gambling debt and the da says there could be more victims. swain has been released on home monitor and preliminary hearing scheduled for january. same sex couples who got married before federal judge overturned pennsylvania's ban on same sex march watch can keep their originally anniversary dates. montgomery county register of wills bruce haines and the state health department two year lawsuit over the issue. the city of philadelphia's head

tomorrow. >> we must just see the sun. we haven't seen the sun since monday morning. >> it's been awhile. >> feels like a long time. slog of a week after long weekend for lot of folks you head back to work and school on monday have to deal with rain, rain and gloom knee conditions. for really the better part of the three days. but things are improving as we head toward the weekend. that's the most important thing after all. the weekend looks beautiful. let's take look outside right now. show you a beautiful shot of center city. a lot better at this time last night when it was all foggy in the tops of the buildings were obscured by the low clouds and fog that's not so much an issue for to us name everything looking pretty nice outside as skies clear in the wake of our rain maker that front moving off the coast here tonight and things will improve but here's a little recap of the day and look how ugly this leadership academy camera is on our neighborhood network. there's the city skyline right here in the background but barely see it all day because of the clouds were so low and we had bursts of steady rain that came through especially during the afternoon hours. then moved on out i now our

triple sweep her on stormier scan three not showing much of anything a few showers over portions of kent county delaware and south jersey. heavier rain in sussex county in delaware but the rest of the area starting to clear out. the clouds are breaking. actual line of cloud cover pushing through the western suburbs right now and that's when the cooler air will get in. keep an eye on this. showers and even some snow showers moving in the wake of the storm could pick up a few flurries perhaps in the poconos tomorrow morning. i don't think it makes it much further inland than that. don't be shocked if there's a sprinkle even early tomorrow morning a few spots. in the meantime temperatures still very warm. vick at the airport. 56 in millville and atlantic city as well. we're down to 48 in lancaster as that cool per air starts to move in from the north and the west. and we'll be closer to average over the next few days. temperatures have been above average. today, near 60. yesterday 56. but right back to where we should be the average high 49 and we'll be close to that but still in the low 50s for the next three days. which will feel pretty nice for early december. so we go from soggy to sunny.

highs in the low 50s tomorrow the front moves off the coast. you can see our wind bashes here they're looking a little bit robust in the afternoon a breezy day that will make it feel cooler than the low 50s. same story friday winds die down a bit seasonably cool with high again near 50. then on saturday, we start to warm up. high pressure overhead brings us another full day of sunshine and highs climb back to the low 50s saturday. mid 50's on sunday. we just keep climbing and that's pattern looks like for the first part of december. insanely quiet pattern tour this time of the year across the nation with the jet stream well to the north. cold stays locked up across canada and nice mild pat concern right into next week at least. so overnight clearing skies, turning cooler, 46 your overnight low. and tomorrow again a cool day the high about 52 in the city. partly sunny, breezy. that wind from the west at 10 to 20 miles an hour. of course we light the tree tomorrow night rittenhouse square. light the tree right around 5:30. we'll bring it to you here on cbs3. i'll be down there doing the honors with santa.
