>> katie, road are looking good thanks to some nice dry weather thaw are bringing our way. here's a live look outside, schuylkill and vine looking good here we are dealing with overnight construction on the vine, nicole. >> meisha, thanks. it is thursday december 3rd i'm nicole brewer. erika has the the the day off today. right now investigators are processing crime scenes after a mass murder in southern california. first is where two gunman opened fire, social services center in san bernardino, california. gunman killed 14 people and wounded 17 others. the second is where police got in a gun battle will with two suspects killing both. they are identified as syed rizwan farouk and tashfeen malik. and relatives say, they were married. public record show farouk work for san bernardino county and now investigators are looking for that motive. so far it is unclear fit is terrorism or work place violence. chris martinez is live in san bernardino, california with new information that investigators revealed

overnight. chris, good morning to you, what can you tell us. >> reporter: good morning, at this hour i can tell you we are still seeing a very strong police presence, the at and around the scene of this shooting. investigators believe that this was a carefully preplanned a tack. authorities had revealed the identities of the two suspects they believed are responsible for mass shooting in inland regional center. the pair identified as 28 year-old syed rizwan farouk, and his wife, 27 year-old tashfeen malik, fled the scene of the massacre in a black suv. both suspects died in a gun battle with police, just 2 miles from the shooting, inside the the suv investigators found assault rifles and semiautomatic handguns. >> based upon what we have seen and based upon how they were equipped there had to be some degree of planning that went into this. >> reporter: officials say farouk, an environmental

specialist with san bernardino county left in anger and returned a short time later with malik, dressed in assault style clothing and armed with funs. >> i was just numb and disbelief. i called my kid and said if something happens to me is there a shooting here just be safe. >> reporter: appearing with local muslim leaders farouk's brother-in-law condemned the the attacks and expressed his remorse. >> i am very sad, deeply sad, and shocked, something like this happened. >> reporter: as the investigation continues to unfold, authorities say that they have in the ruled outer wrist many, as a motive. >> it is a possibility but we do not the know that yet, and we're in the willing to go down that road just yet. >> reporter: authorities worked late in the the night the at the scene of the deadly shooting, after bomb squads, found and detonated a suspicious pipe bomb device inn side. this morning, police along with a number of other law enforcement thing agencies, including the the the fbi, they are still working to figure out an exact motive

here, but they do tell us that they know at least two of the four guns they say suspects used were purchased legally. live at san bernardino, california, i'm chris martinez, new back to you. >> chris, thanks for that update. meanwhile mass shooting in southern callus the second in less than a week. many lives were lost and a dozen more were injured. eyewitnesses recalled the the the moments of the terror while shock ran out inside the social services building. some workers looked for cover and hid sending texts and while others called loved ones. >> a guy outside, just firing a big gun shooting at the window. >> unaudible. >> more than 650 employees worked at that social services facility, hundreds were evacuated and reunited with their loved ones. the president obama shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with cbs news anchor nora owe done will he will. >> we don't yet know what the

motives of the shooters are, but what we do know is there are steps that we can take to make americans safer and that we should come together in a bipartisan basis at every level of government to make these rare as opposed to normal. we should never think that this is something that just happens in the ordinary course of events because it doesn't happen with the same frequency in other countries. >> you can see more of nora o'donnell's interview with the president coming up on cbs this morning at 7:00 o'clock. mass shooting is reigniting the debate over gun control and now front page of the new york daily news makes a pretty bold statement about that debate. it features a series of tweets from politicians asking for prayers for the victims but head line says god isn't fixing this. according to twitter this is newspaper's mess retweeted front page of the year. we will have more on the political fire storm caused by that shooting in the next half an hour.

of course, stay with "eyewitness news" for continuing coverage of the mass shooting in san bernardino, as soon as there are new developments we will have have them on television and on line at cbs philly.com. all right. 5:05. lets check on that forecast with katie, she's outside on the sky deck. how is it feeling. >> it is definitely chilly, nicole but we are dry. i don't need to have that giant umbrella over my head to shield me from the rain this time around but finally i can report not just nicer weather news but frankly, still above average weather news in terms of the thermometer and yesterday we will have a very mild day. all is clear on the sky deck, it will stay that way but let's talk temperature for now as we take a look at what happened before and where we're going. yesterday we got 60 degrees at the airport. look at that average high not too shabby for early december. we will keep temperatures at least a degree above average through the the rest of to this week and weekend, so, that is definitely some pleasant news to start off

with, right, but in addition to that we have he got high pressure on our side and as that high continues to build over our area and we're just in transition today we are finding a hint of moisture back through central pennsylvania, northwestern, pennsylvania and even yep, some snow out over i80. none of that affecting us here locally in the delaware valley but in the poconos you might see a sprinkle. a are the of times bark is worse than the bite when we see left over moisture on the heels of the storms like this but front continues to make its full retreat. any moisture with that front out to sea and we are seeing cloud continue to thin out. here's the the area wind speeds. they are not that strong but earlier in the show difficult feel that breeze. it was just enough to make it feel that much more chillier. i highly suggest a heavier coat on a day like this but we're not talking about any kind of major wind or damaging but news enough to notice it. when you notice it, it has an impact on the day. expect that even though we will hit temperatures that should hit the lower 50's. it will probably feel no better than the 40's, for most

of you as the the day goes on. so factor that in, otherwise, meisha, it is not a bad day. the thinks looking pretty nice. certainly by comparison to the last two. >> absolutely, in comparison, you nailed it, thanks very much. today is looking great on the roadways, as well, they are nice and dry, it is still early, so volume levels are light. this is the the blue route southbound at mid county, looking very good there as you push southbound on blue route. anywhere we look is looking good. for those in new jersey, over ben franklin bridge moving in the westbound direction looking very, very nice. i love to show this shot just because it is a gorgeous shot with lights against the black sky. here's the vine, still waiting for that to open between the schuylkill and broad, vine eastbound and westbound still closed and you can see this little, truck moving and trying to get that cleared out of the way. it usually lifts around 5:00 o'clock hour. it should be lift something time fairly quickly would i imagine. construction at the route 38 both directions between mart air avenue and route 206,

right lane is block until 6:00 . i will let you know when that clears. holiday tree lighting from rittenhouse squares was rescheduled to this pass tuesday to today at 5:00 p.m.; nicole, back over to you. south african appeals court has just convicted oscar pistorius of murder. the verdict overturns the lesser charge of manslaughter. the 29 year-old former olympian shot and killed his girlfriend reeva steenkamp in february of 2013. steenkamp's family was in court today n south africa the minimum sentence for murder is 15 years behind bars. new this morning police investigating a deadly shooting in north philadelphia, "eyewitness news" on the scene at the germantown avenue and west moreland streets. police say a 27 year-old man was shot in the face and chest. he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. there is no word yet on suspects or a mote any of that shooting. also new this morning an accident shuts down part of the road in bordentown township, new jersey. the crash happened shortly after 10:30 last night on

georgetown road near clifton mill. there are reports of injuries. happening today a new jersey man charged with killing a vineland mother and three month-old baby is scheduled for arraignment. police say ricardo santiago led them to the bodies of neidy ramirez and her daughter genesis in cumberland county. suspect has a five-year old child with ramirez but not the the the father of genesis police believe sanity teeing owe killed the the mother and daughter on friday when the victims were last seen. >> everybody is in tears. we stopped for about 15 minutes of production so we could do a prayer for her. >> police went comment on the matter of death. san teeing he owe is being held on a million-dollar bail. another chance to share your concerns about the future of philadelphia, with mayor-elect jim kenney, he is continuing his week long series of town hall meetings tonight in mayfair. meeting at the mayfair community center on saint vincent street. kenney will be sworn in as

after taking off from a nearby base in kentucky. emergency officials say the helicopter landed in the river bottom and on fire when it first arrived. arm a i has not yet identified the pilot. this is new video of the british war planes taking off for air strikes against ice is in syria earlier this morning. strikes come just hours after parliament approved the attack. britain has targeted isis in iraq but this is first time they are expanding their campaign to syria. officials say that they will provide more information, about the target, later today. a pennsylvania police officer's brush with death is caught with camera and this morning the search is on for a suspect who nearly killed him. as cbs news correspondent don champion shows us it all began with a simple traffic stop. >> license and registration. >> reporter: in law enforcement there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop. and the suspect wanted in the shooting of a man in pennsylvania two weeks ago is still on the run.

>> this was just a very, very close, dangerous encounter for the the police office are. >> reporter: dash cam rid yes shows how it started when lynn anderson with the northern york county regional police department pulled over a driver. >> after smelling marijuana, he asked the driver, later identified as trever jackson to get out of the car. that is when jackson pulled out a gun, opening fire. even though he was shot at in close range, officer anderson avoided getting hit. >> in less important because police officer ace live and well and does not have have a gun shot wound in his body or he is dead. this man tried to kill our police officer. >> reporter: here police believe jackson tried to distract officer anderson moments before by taking his license on the ground and investigators say jackson was injured when officer anderson returned fire.

don champion for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> five new jersey fifth graders have been arrested accused of plot to go detonate a device at clifton high school during a field trip there. students from clifton school 11 are all ten and 11 years old. officials say teachers found a written attack plan. students even had a device built although it wasn't explosive. so far they are not facing criminal charges. take a look at this, a close call for a man in the wheelchair in port land, oregon. he fell out of his wheelchair when it rolled in the tracks in the train coming in the station. that is when five good samaritans rush over to help him and his dog get back on the platform there no one was hurt, thank goodness and man in the wheelchair eventually, got on that train. unbelievable. 5:16. lets check that forecast. happy to say we are no longer dog with rain, katie. >> thankfully. we are finally starting to clear out too. we have had so much fog, even though we caught a break in the wet weather department it was just so difficult, to see,
