the the morning after a shooting massacre is in san bernardino we are learning more about the shooters as we search for a motive. it was a husband and wife who stormed in the holiday party, heavily armed and opened fire. fourteen people are dead, more than a dozen injured, the question is, why? today is thursday, december 3rd, i'm nicole brewer. thanks so much for joining us. we will check weather and traffic in just a moment but first very latest developments from california. authority believe that the two suspects acted alone, police say that the couple walked in the san bernardino county social services center fully armed ready to carry out this rampage. the the two now identified as syed rizwan farouk and tashfeen malik died in the gun battle with police.

investigators are searching for a motive. chris martinez has more. >> reporter: at this hour police along with the fbi they are still processing this shooting scene. officials calling this a well planned attack. authorities have revealed the identities of the two suspects, they believe are responsible for the mass shooting at inland regional center, the pair identified as 28 year-old syed rizwan farouk, and his wife, 27 year-old tashfeen malik, fled the scene of the massacre in a black suv. both suspects died in a gun battle with police, just 2 miles away from the shooting. inside the suv investigators found assault rifles and semiautomatic hand guns. >> based upon what we have seen and based upon how they were equipped there had to be some degree of planning that went into this. >> reporter: officials say farouk, an environmental specialist with san bernardino county left for in anger and

return a short time later with malik dressed in assault style clothing and armed with guns. people inside, during the the shooting, described a very chaotic scene. >> i was just numb in disbelief. i called my kids and said if something happens to me there was a shooting here and just be safe. >> reporter: appearing with local muslim leaders, condemned the attack, and expressed his remorse. >> i'm deeply sad and shocked that something like this happened. >> reporter: as investigation continues to unfold authorities say they have in the ruled outer wrist many as a motive. >> it is a possibility but we do in the the know that just yet but we are not willing to get down that road yet. >> reporter: authorities worked late in the night, after bomb squads bomb and detonated a suspicious pipe bomb device inn side. they tell us that the two suspects were married for two years, and the couple had a six month-old daughter.

officials are telling us that they now know that two of the four guns that they say the suspect used were purchased, legally. reporting from san bernardino, california, i'm chris martinez, back to you. >> chris, what can you tell us about farouk's work history. we know he work within the county. >> reporter: that is right, nicole, he work with the county for five years or so. he was an environmental inspector. he inspected restaurants for cleanliness, pools for chlorine levels, things of that nature and we also know that he attended this very same hospital for county employees, and shooting happened today, last year so he was familiar with this event, and in doubt familiar with most if in the all of the people there, so many of them were his co-workers. >> chris martinez, live in san bernardino, california, thanks. meanwhile deadly shooting in callus the second in america in less then a week. eyewitnesses recalled moments of the terror as they

unleashed bullets inside that building. some workers trapped inside sent texts while others called loved ones. >> shots were going off like crazy, just one right after the the other. >> shooting at my work, people shot, in the office waiting for cops. pray for us. >> she said stand by, been shot. i was at a work christmas party, and i don't know what will happen, and i'm scared and i love you. >> american 650 employees work at that massive social services facility, hundreds were evacuated and reunited with their loved ones. just last friday a gunman opened fire inside a colorado planned parenthood, now in an exclusive interview president obama is sharing his thoughts with cbs the news anchor nora o'donnell. >> we don't know yet what the motive of the shooters are but what we do know is that there are steps that we can take to make americans safer and we should come together in a

the road was shut down while emergency crews work on the injured no details on the victim's condition at this time. a new jersey man is accused of killing a vineland mother and three month-old baby faces a judge today. ricardo santiago is scheduled for an arraignment. santiago led them to the body is of neidy ramirez and her daughter genesis in western cumberland county. the the the suspect has a five-year old child with ramirez but not the the father of genesis p lees believe santiago killed the mother and daughter on friday when those victims were last seen. >> voluntarily came in and through questioning the the investigation broke open and he was charged last night. >> they were co parents and it appears there was some sort of a disputing on. >> police won't comment on the manner of death, san teeing he owe is being held on one million-dollar bail. well, if you have concerns about the future of philadelphia today is your chance to share them with mayor-elect jim kenney. he is continuing his week long series of town hall meetings tonight in mayfair. meeting is at 7:30 at mayfair

days of december. most of the united states has been above average in terms of temperature because of that jet stream has been so far removed, off to the north and it is basically keeping the cool air locked away up in canada in the arctic. that has led to us see above average warmth here at local level here as well, and jet stream is responsible for basically, ushering in colder or milder air masses and splits them in two and helps to steer storm systems. we haven't had any major storm center because they pass us by to the the north. i have to show you this one, i will step out very quickly here. look at what you see on the grassy surfaces. this is a shot in the neighborhood network in latrobe, pa, there is snow in the grass surfaces out that way. when we go to storm scan three what we are looking at, to that it is just outside of pitberg by 40 miles or so east. the is there a pocket of snow, rolling through along i80. if your traveling takes you

"eyewitness news" anchor ukee washington has this story of brotherly love. >> reporter: boys and girls club wants to make sure every child has a gift this holiday and it will happen with a lot of brotherly love from our viewers. >> as a teen patrick faulk hung out at camden county boys and girls club. >> it was just a place of safety, place to go after school and hang out, meet some friends. >> reporter: patrick is a college graduate and manager at the club, more than 200 children a day age six to 18, come here to do homework and play games you will in a safe place. twelve year-old lopez has been coming for three years. >> for little kids, it is opening up their imagination and all that stuff, kids have to be kid. >> reporter: some parents work two or three jobs, not all can

3400 milligrams which is a lot more than what is recommended and is what good. >> reporter: how much is too much. you say 50 percent more. >> let's put this in perspective, american dietary guidelines from 2010 they recommend 2300 milligrams of salt per day which is about a teaspoon. can you imagine a teaspoon not very big. the that is how much salt we should have all day. american heart association actually said it should be less 1500 milligrams. average american is consume 3400 milligrams of salt you can see how that is over budget so to speak. we are taking in way too much salt. >> is what the concern here? what are the health concerns. >> right, some have of our players that we often talk about throughout the year for other reasons, right, they are heart disease, blood pressure, stroke risk, that is what is at risk here as well as other medical conditions. salt plays a role in all of these other conditions. >> what about hidden salt because sometimes you don't realize how much you are

consuming. >> when we start, put down that saltshaker. i mean that put that down. >> stop adding it to your food. >> that is right, but to be honest the saltshaker is in the where we get most of our salt from. it is these hidden salts. i see this all the time, food that don't even taste salty are some of the most salty. baked goods, breads, of course, our processed food, they taste salty, chips, processed food, frozen dinners, things like that but when you go to a restaurant you don't have a chance to machine for salt. that salties put in even before you get your meal. those are the biggest players, okay. keep that in mind. >> i mentioned that new york city will include those saltshakers. do you think this will be a trend across the board. >> i hope it does. i'm a fan. i was reading up on this and takes a look, and there is a lot have of salty food out there, folks. but truth is we have to know what is in the food we are eating and you need to be

conscious about that. >> in the meantime what are simple ways to lower sodium in your diet. >> there are some things you can do one of the first thing i say is eat fresh. talking about those processed foods, going out to restaurants. one of the best ways to control your salties eat fruits, veggies and low fat dairy. prepare your own meals so you can limit amount of salt that you are putting in them. you go to the restaurant that salties in the dish before you get tour table. use salt free spices and herbs seasoning your food. read labels when you go to the grocery store aisles and when eating out choose low sodium options or eat smaller portions. >> i know you said fresh foods i mean can you get any recommendations for what to choose or maybe what not to choose. >> i'll be honest it is tough, right. >> it is tough and this is why i think one of the best ways to approach it is, eat out less. sometimes you just cannot control what you are getting when you order out. let's be honest, i'm a person

too when you go out you want that burger and fries. i get it, i really do. you want to minimize number of times you put yourself in that situation. make sure you do it on very special occasions that is what these food are. it is not thaw cannot after them but they need to be eaten in moderation. that is my best bet. >> that is take home message, in moderation. >> yes. >> girl after my own heart. we will take a short break, we will be right back. no way i'm doing without them.

we have some new video just in from mayfair where vandals struck overnight at gordon chevrolet the on the boulevard. thieves stole wheels right off some cars in that dealer ship's lot. that has been a problem before in the neighborhood with you we have not seen thieves hit a dealer ship at this point. the we are working to find out just how many wheels have have been stolen. in other stories this morning, authorities are trying to figure out with led to the shooting rampage in california that left 14 people dead. the suspects syed rizwan farouk and his wife tashfeen malik were killed in the gun battle with police. south african appeals court has convicted oscar pistorius of murder overturning a lower court's conviction on the lesser charge of manslaughter for shooting death of his girlfriend in 2013. ricardo santiago is scheduled to be arraigned for killings
