>> good morning it is west december 9th i'm nicole brewer. >> i'm erika von tiehl. >> katie is outside on the sky deck where it is a little chilly. meisha is checking on the roadways. >> roadways are looking good, nice and quiet as they probably should. just overnight construction projects. katie, how does it feel outside. >> it is still chilly. we don't have benefit of the sun to warm things up at all it definitely makes it easier to drop on the thermometer. that is certainly what has happened. i equate this to a crisp fall day more than anything because we will see these temperatures eventually dropping off in the mid 30's, generally around the board before the sun comes up but then we will rebound again. a day where we will dress in layers. storm scan three quiet as can be. we are under influence have of high pressure, a few cloud, we will call it partly sunny but high pressure is moving and retreating off shore and as it does that it helps send a more milder flow our way. we will warm up more than we did this time yesterday or through the the height of the afternoon. the current temperatures, 37

"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live in the sat center with more on that, justin. >> reporter: nicole and erika, good morning. we're talking about khiry reid and until yesterday he was one of the philadelphia's most wanted, that is when tips led u.s. marshals led them to him in florida more than 800 miles from the convenient store killing. at last, khiry reid was nabbed a long way from home. >> we have information from the u.s. marshals out in philadelphia that a homicide fugitive from jacksonville area. >> reporter: lips led u.s. marshals, more than 850 miles away from philadelphia's mantua section where he is wanted for murder of the 22-year old man later identified as maurice mcdonald. back on the morning of the november 10th mcdonald was shot several times inside j and r perez convenient store on the 700 block of north 38th street. reid was later identified as a suspect in almost a month later, authorities knew where

to find him. >> we conduct our own investigation and found he might be possibly here in it or range park area. >> reporter: at 5:00 he clock tuesday evening u.s. marshals tracked him to the home where they saw him get in the ford expedition. marshals made their move but suv driver, with reid, and a baby inside tried to flee, ramming in the u.s. marshals vehicle and county sheriff's office cruiser. suv was totaled and driver and reid were arrested at gunpoint. neighbors were stunned. >> people you think are your neighbors and they find out they have a jagged past. >> reporter: that baby was not hurt and is now with his mother. for the suv driver as well as reid they are set tow a peer in court today to face charges of fleeing arrest, battery as well as child endangerment. reid's next stop is back here in philadelphia to face those homicide charges. live from the sat center, i'm justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> justin, thank you. donald trump is standing his ground after saying that

left with the broken jaw that doctors had to wire shut while it healed. lewis vogwell, driver charged in the fatal hit and run tonight philadelphia police officer is supposed to a appear for a police hearing today. vogwell struck and killed lemar pool august 30th while the the officer was riding his motor psyched until oxford circle. today prosecutors plan to formally charge the man who allegedly killed three people in the planned parenthood clinic colorado springs. robert dear head to court facing charges of first degree murder. he is accused of shooting a police officer and two other people to death on november 27th. if convicted, he faces the the death penalty or life in prison. and attempted drug bustt sparks a wild police chase in northeast fill amount it began at cottman and torresdale avenues around 9:00 o'clock last night. suspect struck two police cruisers as they tried to get away. that chase eventually ended up at torresdale and rhawn street. there the suspect tried to runaway but officers caught up

if he will get his job back, erika. record rainfall continues to pound parts of the pacific northwest. over the last few days unrelenting storm system has caused flooding, landslide and power outages in both oregon and washington. cbs news, correspondent nicole miller is in portland with the very latest. >> reporter: as rain continues to pour for a, third straight day across the northwest, already swollen rivers and creeks caused major flooding, evacuations and landslide around the area crewness portland work in the night to clean up tons of debris along the local highway. >> this has been a big mess but we hope to get it cleaned up quickly. >> reporter: record rainfall dumb popped inches on have rain, in 24 hours triggering dozens of rescues. officials say it can take months to repair this sinkhole that opened up in nearby areas where powerful wind toppled trees, on to cars. >> all of a sudden i heard a big push coming down and next thing i know we have a tree down. >> reporter: heavy rain is taking a toll on families

the pack northwest where the the rain is continuing to fall right now, but as we look across the the rest of the united states, we're pretty tranquil. check this out, we have high pressure on your side here across a good portion of the united states. you have to look closely. we will zero in on it right now. there is a very weak disturbance a trail of clouds stretching down in towards illinois, indiana a a, to this disturbance is what will be crossing later tonight. more than anything it will bring us additional cloud. that is it. in the meantime our bigger story is the thermometer. high pressure moving off shore retreating and allowing that disturbance to cross through but we will keep sunshine around for you on thursday, peaks of it, more clouds then sunshine and friday we will keep those temperatures on a uphill climb. by that point we're talking 60's and that looks like the scene right through the weekend. you'll see it in the seven day but let's touch on what is going on here today. partly sunny, not terrible. it is coolest day of the next seven.
