like christmas here in dilworth park. but it certainly doesn't feel like it. just ask this guy whose toes made an appearance at the ice skating rink. >> i went outside today and i was like, you know what, life is a beach. might as well join it and wear my flip-flops much that's what i'm doing. it's warm enough here in fill you can go ice skating and wear flip-flops for the ring. >> sam eventually swapped his flip-flops for ice skates and shorts made the look complete. >> i would recommend wearing flip-flops on december 10th in philly. >> these california girls feel right at home. they're enjoying the unseasonal warmth here in philadelphia this december. >> honestly i thought it was going to be colder so i'm really appreciative of the fact that it's not 20 degrees. i'm wearing my winter crop top so, you know, this is about as cold as it gets. >> reporter: with temperatures so warm lately, michelle shannon tells us how they keep the ice from melting. >> our ice rink is equipped with a 200-ton chiller that sits

behind us here at the cabin, and there's about 5 miles of tubing that runs underneath the ice that removes any heat and keep the ice cool. >> reporter: it's been awhile. i decided to test out the ice with a little help, of course. >> last time i did this this was not good. >> now i thought i can do this. but, yeah, i don't think i can make another -- i don't think i can make another swing around. >> it's amazing. we don't have to worry bout kids being cold. >> reporter: this time last year it was a much different scene. snowplows had been out for three different weather events by december 11th. gene blum of penndot remain us winter is coming. >> we have 26 wint events last winter, and 22 of those occurred between january 3rd and march 20th and that came out just over three events -- three winter weather events a week. >> wow. just a reminder of last year's relentless winter. none of us are trying to get back to that any time soon.

we're just enjoying the moment for now. let's get right over to kate bilo now who can tell us a little bit more about the temperatures tonight many kate? >> thank you natasha. on this date last year, our high temperature was 43 degrees. today was well above that and even right now take look at your current temperatures in philadelphia and all across the region. we're still in the upper 40s. so temps right now warmer than this time last year the daytime high. it's 49 degrees right now in philadelphia. 41 in allentown. 39 in millville. departures from normal today were in the 15 to 20-degree range. highs in the 60s today. again about 15, 16 degrees above average. but it's only going to get warmer from here on out. coming up, in just a few minutes i'll tell you how warm it's going get this weekend and records may fall. i'll have all the details when i join you inside. jessica, back over to you. >> kate, see you soon. thanks so much. >> the city's second casino has been given final zoning approval by city council. live hotel hotel and cass zen

know will be at 900 packer avenue in south philadelphia. developer cordish companies says the venue will have 2,000 slot machines, 125 table games and 200 rooms. cordish must await a pennsylvania supreme court decision on appeals of their gambling license before construction can begin. a bill to privatize liquor sales in pennsylvania passeed senate tonight. it would allow grocery stores and take out business that is sell beer to sell up four bottles of wine. would it state owned stores by improving profitability because they would have more flexibility to set store hours. critics say it could actually put some of the state stores out of business. governor tom wolf supports the proposal but it's unclear if it can pass the house. the eagle has landed only "eyewitness news" is there as wildlife officials rescue an injured bald eagle. a homeowner in pits town, new jersey spotted the eagle with broken leg in her backyard on shy creek road. it had been there since monday.

this afternoon it got spook and flu array way minutes later it made an unexpected return. >> hurry up, hurry up. hurry up. >> oh my god, you got him. that's incredible. >> it was getting weak so it ended up on the ground and it didn't have clear escape route we just luck out. >> the bald eagle is now being treated at a clinic and hopefully will make a full recovery. politicians from both parties continue to condemn donald trump's comments about muslims entering the u.s. nearly every republican candidate says they disagree with trump's plan to keep muslims from coming into you are country but no republican candidate has said they won't support him if he wins the gop nomination. but one says, he's close. >> i hope he changes his rhetoric. i hope he becomes union fire, but if he doesn't, and the divisions and the extreme i continues i've got to take another look. >> tonight trump spoke at the

new england police ben never length association. protesters gathered outside the new hampshire event calling for peace and unity. a new cbs news poll shows trump as the front runner for the gop nomination. however, most of this data for the poll was gathered before his controversial comments. trump leads with 35% among republican primary voters. ted cruz with 16%. ben carson coming at third with threapers. meanwhile, that poll also showed 44% of americans think another terrorist attack in the us is quote very likely over the next few months. that is the highest percentage since right after septembe september 11th, 2001. a coalition of philadelphia's civic and religious leaderships have had enough of donald trump. >> today the leaders held a press conference to dee noun the presidential candidate and called for an end to what they consider fear mongering. they say trump's comments are offensive on many levels and should disqualify him from serving as the president of the united states.

>> people like mr. trump may find themselves being called terrorists, because they're injecting fear within the psyche of the american people. >> the leaders also said trump should be boycotted in he ever comes to physical. the fbi is conducting a full scale search of a lake near the scene of the san bernardino terrorist attack. cbs news has learn the crews are looking for hard drive missing from computer found in suspect farook's home. the fbi says it's possible the couple allegedly killed 14 people last week came to this lake on the day of the massacre. meanwhile f fbi says henre quay marques is cooperating. sources told cbs news he provi provided information about a terror lab he and farook planned three years ago but did not follow through. marques admitted he gave the couple the assault rifles used in the attack. a fire in chester, delaware county destroys a barn there. chopper three over the scene on the 400 block every west 24th

street. the flames burned old bell barn right to the ground just after 9:00 o'clock tonight. no injuries were reported. the cause of that fire is now under investigation. authorities in new castle county are warning homeowners to be on the look out for holiday grinches. surveillance cameras caught a group of suspects stealing a package from a home in castle hills. police say the suspects followed ups truck through that neighborhood tuesday. when the package was dropped off, one suspect simply stepped up to the front porch, pick it up and walk away with it like it was his own. >> people work hard for their presents and for their grandkids and their families you got these idiots just riding around. >> we really just want a citizens of new castle county to be aware. >> so far only one victim has come forward but police are concerned other victims may be out there who simply believe their package hasn't arrived yet. this holiday season has local brothers putting their skills to work creating handmade wrapping paper that's for sale. >> for a good cause as welch

"eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco shows us how the teenager's creativity is also shedding light on adults living with autism. >> these are balloons, streamers, a cake and a game called musical cares for birthday. >> reporter: 18-year-old eddie tucker man is hard the work crow 88ing new designs for his wrapping paper business. >> artwork actually i think describes their personality as little bit. whenever you hear someone describe eddie, he is very -- he's almost like a living cartoon at times. very excitable and i think that translates. the way he sees the world is the way he draws. >> reporter: his parents started the business for eddie and his twin brother mike. the boys have autism but they've always had a love for drawing. some are some of their recent risks include the pope, birthday and christmas scenes his parents have turned into wrapping paper for christmas and hanukkah. >> i'm a good wrapping paper seller. >> with statistics placing unemployment rate for autistic adults at 90%, mike and eddie' parents plan to keep them busy long after high school.

>> outrageous video of apparently thirsty thief who also has pretty good balance. he steals an entire case of energy drippings without even getting off his hover board. the man just roles into a london convenience store, grabs his beverage of choice and rolls on out. after this incident british authorities banned the use of hover boards on public roads and sidewalks. scare for passengers on board a runway commuter train near boston. the train left the station after the operator got off. then went through four stops before rail workers could cut the power. the massachusetts secretary of transportation says an investigation is underway to determine if the driver failed to properly secure the brakes before leaving the train. no passengers were hurt. the last supper for many as a pottstown staple prepares to close its doors for good. "eyewitness news" at the very best the restaurant which is famous for hotdogs is closing

after 94 years in business. the owner says dwindling sales through the years has taken its toll. regulars are still sad to see the staple shut down. >> it's a bad day for pottstown. yeah. a lot of people going to miss it. >> this is just a really good place to come in, see friends, have some good food. >> when we found out that very best was going to be closing this week, it reminded me i hadn't been here in awhile. we're making up for lot of time. we've been here twice this week. >> the very best is best known for its everything hotdog that comes complete with chili and sauerkraut. and every day during this time of year there are cookies and fruit cakes, ginger bread men, eugenol. >> stop. >> goes on and on and on. >> stop. but there is a special christmas meal that is enjoyed only once during this season and our vittoria joins us with a look in tonight's taste with tori. >> only once that's why it's so special. >> i understand. >> absolutely. so special and i had the chance to be in the kitchen of a woman

feast for 23 years. here at mamma maria's italian restaurant and it always brings back memories of her childhood village in italy. >> when i make this i see my m mom. >> the seven fishes or is ritual she explains comes from the roman catholic faith. >> where do they get the number seven? >> okay. vittoria the number seven it's seven sacraments. it's seven sin sins of the worl. it's seven days god -- to make the world. >> church tradition hold that is no meat is served on holy days. which is not a problem when you have this beautiful dish of fish to it. >> you don't have to be italian to celebrate the feast of the seven fishes. >> no. you like fish, you eat fish. >> right, right, right. >> man jay. a taste of salmon right out of the pan. phenomenal. it's delicate. it's perfectly seasoned. it's juicy. it's warm and comforting.

>> kate joins us now with our forecast and we're still talking about warm temperatures in december. still hard to believe you. >> made up a little song to go with it. >> warm, warm, temperatures. >> like olaf. >> exactly. >> we'll go bring back summer. that's exactly what it will feel like this weekend as temperatures are heading up well into the 60s, possibly even challenging 70 degrees on sunday and we're talking about some records that may fall and these are records that are almost a century old. so let's get right into it take you out to storm scan3 here's what's happening right now a few clouds drifting by tonight and there will be a little bit of fog forming as well. warm moist air surging from the south and west when you get to kind of war warmth you toned tot fog. it will develop overnight and continue into tomorrow morning. otherwise across the nation things are quiet except the pacific northwest the pa parade of storms continues yet another one offshore poised to bring rain and mountain snow to that area. little system moving through the

great lake lifting to the north and we get the southwest flow that will be with us right through the weekend really helping temperatures warm to some very unusual levels. we're talking a stretch of 60s right through the start of next being. right now we're in the mid to upper 40s. i do want to show you we've got fog to talk about as we head into your friday morning. stop this right at about 6:00 a.m. you can see visibles under a mile in philadelphia. down around zero down the shore. so do watch for pockets really of patchy dense fog out there tomorrow morning. that could slow you down. here's a look at december. at a glance here so far and it's just all red as far as the eye can see. today was 15 degrees above average. and we've got even warmer days ahead. we'll keep it in the red at least through next tuesday or wednesday then temperatures may eventually start heading back toward more seasonal levels. but temps are surging through the weekend record tying warm on saturday. record breaking warmth on sunday and even monday close. that's when that system moves in

bringing some rain. here is a look at our forecasted highs and the record highs we're challenging for the next several days. tomorrow's record 65. the high temperature in our forecast is 64. that's very close. there's a chance we can hit th that. saturday the record 65 from 1931. looks like we'll hit 65 so tying that one. sunday's record of 65 is from 1923. that's an old one. we should hasn't diddly beat that at 68 and even monday within 5 degrees of the roar. record is 69. and we'll get to for the daytime high. it's not unusual to get 60-degree days in december every now and again. it is unusual to have this long of a stretch of temperatures this far above average. for your friday fog in the morning turning mostly sunny and mile at 64 degrees for the high. here's your eagles kick off forecast. looking pretty great as we take on the bills 64 degrees with some sunshine. you can leave the heavy coats at home for that game. maybe wear your eagles t-shirt and flip-flops to the game just because you can. 68 degrees on sunday. monday rain develops it's still warm at 65 and then tuesday and

wanted. sometimes, sometimes i use my foot to make lines in the carpet so it looks like i vacuumed. when i'm in other people's houses, i look through their medicine cabinets. those were actually tick takes. and i regret having put them on a pizza. one time a little kid asked me if famous people like me go to the bathroom. i lied and told him yes.
