the investigation. eagles beat the bills and sent frustrated shady back to buffalo. today is monday, december 14th, i'm erika von tiehl. we check in with katie and prior a. i know you both ran into the fog coming in. and giving yourself extra time? >> yes, absolutely, visibility definitely an issue this morning, and i can tell you we've seen string every accidents on the roadways because of t katie, were you saying this would last throughout the entire morning commute? >> easily yes. we do have dense fog advisory region wide, lasts us right up until 10:00 a.m. i'm out on the skydeck, six stories up, you can't even see the center city skyline, but i'm guessing where i can actually make out the headlights, it might be about quarter of a mile, third of a mile, so it is very, very low-lying cloud cover, and very thick. what do you have kind in mind here, flying down the highway, not going to be good news if you can't see few car lengths

ahead of you. please be careful out there. meisha will have all of those pieces of information for you, but let's give you sense every what's going on here today. so, this is very early fall like pattern. you know, we've got lots of moisture in place. we've got light wind. also lots of nice mild air to help sort of allow this fog to form. at the moment, no rain in site. but yes, that visibility is poor. there is a lot of moisture in the air. so i actually had couple of little sprinkles on my own dashboard as i drove in this morning. so, if you get that on the windshield, don't be shocked by. that will just all of the moisture in place. but the rain itself holds off until later. meanwhile, i-95, it is rough stuff. under half mile. it has been that way since we went on the air at 4:30. and i don't think it will get much better until at least a hour or two after the sun's come up. that will be a while. meanwhile rain on the way for later on, i would say the window of the arrival, probably five p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or so. so poor visibility, both commutes affected still mild as we are still in the 50's, but quickly as we check our

three day forecast, that starts to get scratched as we are back in the 50's behind this front. that is bringing us this very wacky weather for a monday. meisha? >> katie, yes, temperatures are up, certainly the visibility issues with the fog is going to cause us some problems t already has. this is live shot of faith al accident in tinicum township this morning. delaware county, this is just past the airport, 95 southbound before route 420. you can see this vehicle is flipped onto its roof. two vehicles hit, head on, flipping one, as you can see, onto its roof. crews are out there trying to get this cleared up. one lane is now open. you can see them actually out there really trying get this ought of your way, because what happens even up on the roadways, in the roads, getting all of the flashing lights from the crews there. if we can take the picture from the roadways, i would love to show that 95 south before route 420 you can see the string every vehicles, but all the way off, left side of your screen, see the flashing lights, get the gaper delay, as well.

so even though the vehicle on it roof is all the way out into the grassy lands, you can see, up on the street ways, roadways, interstate,ing it going to be slow moving. the schuylkill headlights moving in the eastbound direction at the boulevard. very hazy, very difficult to see, and because that far, seeing some accidents here, as one of them in telford, closed before brant road. use alternate, county line road. erika, back over to you. >> thank i, more on the deadly accident meisha mentioned, one person killed when two cars collided in the thick fog. this is just after 3:00 this morning on i-95 in tinicum township. the force of the crash caused one car to flip over. once again two southbound lanes shutdown right now near the wanamaker avenue exit. >> police are looking for clues that will lead them to a gunman in a west philadelphia shooting, both victims are 17. one is dead. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now at police headquarters with the latest information for us. jan, good morning. >> reporter: erika, good morning, and police tell us, that the seconds shooting victim is still in the

hospital in critical condition this morning. this was most certainly a frightening night for this west philadelphia neighborhood, we're talking about flying bullets, and a victim who was injured, running for blocks, going from door-to-door, looking for help. >> philadelphia police left searching for clues in west philadelphia overnight. the crime scene unit and homicide detectives tracking a shooter or shooters who killed one teen and critically injured another. here on the 500 block of north crate on street, a trail of blood, and more than dozen spent shell casings. >> we know that at least 17 shots were fired from two separate handguns. >> police say the gunshot started shortly after 10:30 sunday night. when they arrived police found 17 year old shot multiple times in the head and body, taken to presbyterian hospital and pronounced dead. the second shooting victim, also 17. >> that 17 year old victim was shot one time in his thigh. he is in critical condition at presbyterian hospital. >> he lost a lot of blood. and police say, it was that

blood that helped investigators finds him. they say after being shot the teen ran about two blocks, in search of help. >> this victim ran eason wyolucing, then south on the 500 block of paxson street. and you could see that he tried to get in several houses there. were several doors with blood on them, and he ended up running inside a house where the people who were in the house are total strange tears him. the residents of the property of course running interviewed by homicide detectives. >> back at the shooting scene, police are now searching for surveillance video that captured the gunfire, nearby car was hit by stray bullets. fortunately, though, no one in the neighborhood was injured. >> now, police say, they don't have motive for the shooting at this point. but they do believe that the 17 year old who was shot and killed does seem to be the intended target of the shooting because those 17 spent shell casings were found near his body. meantime, police say, they do not yet have description of the shooter or the shooters. we are reporting live outside philadelphia police headquarters, jan carabeo,

cbs-3, "eyewitness news". jan, thank you. meanwhile, police are looking for two two two gunmen. two men shot in the 400 block of washington avenue just before 10:00 p.m. last night. one man was shot twice in the back. the other man was shot once in the chest. both were taken to jefferson hospital. one is in critical condition, while the artsman in stable condition. >> fifty-six year old brian bow adder said he shot and killed rich ailed hold because he thought hold was trying to break into his pick-up truck. it happened last august, 4500 block of torresdale avenue. boar claims he shot the man in self-defense. >> hard to believe but the eagles playoff hopes still alive after beating the buffalo bills yesterday. that win spoiled mccoy's homecoming, so sorry, to philadelphia. mccoy did not shake chip kelly's hand like he promised but did share a hug with eagles owner jeff lurie before

the game. had a chance to pull off the win. but ed reynolds pick off a pass less than two minutes left to steel the 23 to 20 eagles victory. >> tabloid journalism, just trying to stress things up. it doesn't affect us. we were playing the buffalo bills, well coached team by rex ryan that has a lot of good players. when people want to make up false stories about me calling someone in the week anthem hanging up on me, just people trying get twitter hits and things like that making themselves significant. >> mccoy was not happy after the game. ran off the field without shaking anyone's hand and caught also throwing his helmet on his way into the lockerroom before leaving without talking to any reporters. >> love him or hate him, lesean mccoy still doing great things for fans in philadelphia. love seeing that. a special moment before yesterday's game. mccoy made fan's wish come true when he met her and her family. he took pictures and signed autographs during the meeting organized by the "make a wish foundation". mccoy called the girl his good luck charm for the day. >> well, it is the time of year when children visit santa

>> in hoboken new jersey, different scene, holiday weather has the holiday decorations looking out of place. outdoor restaurant seating usually empty this time of year, just bustling, not need tore coat or long sleeves. i'm sure were you out yesterday, katie, didn't even need a jacket. but this can't last forever. >> obviously, yes. we will start to see cooler weather finally take over. sort of talk about where we came from here this weekend. it was record breaking weekend as expected in philadelphia. saturday brought high of 69. we hit 71 degrees yesterday. in atlantic city, 73. it just doesn't happen. so these are brand new numbers for the record books, guys,

even mount pocono, we had the warmest december temperature we've ever recorded at mount pocono yesterday. crazy stuff. now, storm scan3, showing some crazy weather headed our way here, all courtesy of one large storm. fog the immediate concern. got the area of low pressure getting swept north either. just dealing with cold front later today. specifically, heading into tonight. and then, eventually, it will be another front that comes along on thursday, so that will begin to send our temperatures on this downhill trends. but still above average for the majority of the seven day. now shall up to noon by this point, fog should have been scoured out at that point too. by the time hitting the typical evening rush, 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., rain starts to move n see heavier stuff too. probably have few em breaded rumbled of thunder along the way, come 11:00, probably still stuff to track on storm scan three, might even have lingering showers come 3:00 a.m. but by the time we hit this same time tomorrow, sun may not be up yet. at least skies clear out nicely but you will notice the breeze tomorrow for sure.

meanwhile, we still flirt with not only records but even 70 today. and then by tomorrow we still flirt with 606789 so yes, seeing temperatures get knock back, but that next front guys that finally sends us back to dose of december reality. friday, back in the 40's, where we should be, and saturday and sunday also pretty seasonable. it is just not been that way at all. so it will feel freezing, i think, to a lot of people, from 70 to 40. >> i know. >> normal. >> normal. grateful for it, but other it, the fog needs to get out offer. >> fog one of those things you think not that big after deal, but go out there, the visibility seriously, can't even tell you, just had string every accidents this morning. you guys, listen up. you will have to listen to me right now, even if you don't want to. give yourself couple every extra minutes this morning, and the driver in front of you, stay away from them. this is not one of those days that you want to think that you're okay. tailgating you want to stay back. because we've had four accidents already this morning, now there is one,

here's live shot, this was the fatal accident in tinicum township delaware county, just past that airport area. ninety-five southbound, before route 420, all lanes were blocked. now, it sounds like two lanes are open for drive-thru traffic. but as you can see, crews are out there trying to get this cleaned up for you. so you don't have all of those flashing lights up on the interstate causing some slow downs, not only because of the accident, because then you get the gaper delay as well. but they are trying to move that car out of the way. live shot 95 southbound before route 420, see the lanes just now starting to open up, which is great news, as we move into the 6:00 hour. ninety-five taillights moving in the southbound direction, this is a look at castor, as you can see, looking good but again get that film of fog. and i can let you know right now that this is going to cause some problems for this morning, another update coming up in about 15 minutes, erika, over to you. >> meisha, thank you. quick reminder "joy of sharing" campaign underway, and you can get involved. just buy new unwrapped toy, and bring it to one of the

andrew spencer has more. >> reporter: prosecutors argue officer william porter ignored pleas for help because he did not care about freddie gray's life. >> the prosecution has presented evidence that went far beyond what the public expected. and that's what makes their case very strong. >> over the last two weeks, they've also argued porter went against department policy, by not securing gray properly in the back of a baltimore police transport van. porter's defense, has said the opposite. arguing standard protocol not to use seatbelts. tried to pin responsible on the van's driver, ceasar good son. >> i just don't see where the stage has convinced anyone that beyond a reasonable doubt that simply not belting him in, when it wasn't his responsibility, you know, reflected a callous disregard for the life of freddie gray. >> the big questions at the center of this trial are when during the 45 minute ride did

deadly for some dogs. >> this type of the virus, the h3n2, progressed so quickly it eventually moved into their lungs causing severe pneumonia. >> the united states company of ago has conditionally approved new vaccine to address the epidemic, being shipped to veterinarians right now. doctor douglas aspro, former president of the american vet near association. >> totally novel virus, so dogs don't have, the us dogs, don't have any historical experience with this virus, therefore, they have no protective cross reaction with any other antibodies that they've formed in the past. >> since the epidemic began, more than 1500 dogs became ill in a few months. at least eight died from secondary infections. the strain has now spread across the country. >> the new strain is different from the common dog flu, which already has effective vaccine available n some cases two

this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". good morning. we are waking to up some big changes in your forecast. right now, dealing with some dangerous fog, so you really do want to be careful on your commute. slow down if you can. but, also wondering, are we finally going to get some rain again? how is it looking? >> so mild, too. seventy yesterday? >> exactly, 71 in philadelphia. >> brand new records for the

books. a lot of spots yesterday. we will keep some of the warmth around actually today. there is storm, you can see it behind us, that's headed our way. so it will help sort of just finally clean out the atmosphere. air quality issues as of late, too. >> rain, not snow. give it that. >> exactly. and you said it, too also the fog issues out there. but the storm system that will be responsible for bringing us the wet weather is on the move. it is a large guy, and boy is it well defined. we zoom it out even just one more time, i am show you in its entirety, spans from across the canadian border straight down to the lee iaian abu ooh, it will be crossing our area later today bringing with it the rain. initial problem, is the visibility. all courtesy of very dense, notice not quite as bad. cape may county, cumberland, even kent, sussex county so the dense fog advisory we had in place has actually been allowed to expire. but it is still in effect for the entire rest of the delaware valley. so, you're not out of the woods yet folks.

again flying high, after another big win. eyewitness sports, pat gallen joining us now, we got your ticket to the game of course in the last hour, now focusing on lesean mccoy's return, because he was really -- >> talking smack going into this game. really, he didn't back it up. which is good thing. >> there go. >> each eagles game this year has provided its own unique brand of weirds necessary, sunday against the bills, with no different. whether it be shady's homecoming, the 15 bills penalties, or the odd officiating, did not lack for story line. so let's breakdown some of the important things from yesterday's 23-20 eagles win. let's begin of course with lesean mccoy. before the game, he shared hug with owner jeffrey lurie, shared kiss turf mid field. but did not shake hands shake with chip kelly. started off going well with 63-yard before the half, eagles defense clamps down, and frustrated him for the tune every just 11 yards, in

the second half. cox should be give answer lot of credit for. that will we will talk about him shortly, from shady to sam. sam bradford's solid performance. bradford's numbers not eye popping. he was 23 of 38 for 247 yards. one touchdown one interception. really wasn't his fault. that will there was a beautiful strike to nelson agholor for 53 yards. bradford is seldom spectacular, but he is efficient. he's not making the same mistakes he made earlier in the year. while getting better it is still heart to envision him of quarterback of the future, although buying himself some time. sam said they were able to block out the criticism these last two weeks. >> you know, i know there has been a loft noise from outside the building specially after the thanksgiving day game. but, you know it, doesn't seem to affect us. i think everyone did great job, with just staying focused, not letting any of that, you know, add anything extra to the game. >> bills quarterback tailor has been fantastic this year, he had not thrown an

interception since week four, but that changed on the final drive, as ed reynolds pick him off to seal the game. if you don't know reynolds, that's because he spent all of last year and most of this year on the practice squad. malcolm jen since said he felt this one coming. >> you know, we sat down, i think it was tuesday, earlier in the week, you know, i told them, and i know told him all week, you got a chance to get an interception, if they try to throw it deep, you know, sometimes they have that habit of staring at the quarterback, and you have the opportunity you have the depth and leverage to go get a football. >> so with three games remaining, how can the birds get to the playoffs? well if the eagles win out, they'll finish nine and seven and win the division. however, if they lose next week, to the arizona cardinals, who are one and two -- 11 and two, very good team, could possibly still get in at eight and eight with wins over the redskins and the giants. >> at love of if's. >> that's good thing, but we shall see. but now, we get -- >> oh, we love this.

hear from you. happening today. president obama will make a rare visit to the pentagon. the commander in chief will meet with his top national security advisors to focus on the war against isis. white house officials say president obama is just receiving an update, and no major policy shift is expected to come out of this. this is the president's first visit to the pentagon, since the terror leaked attacks in california and paris. new jersey governor chris christie will join eight other candidates in the next gop debate. it airs tomorrow night on cnn. as don champion reports, frontrunner status may be in jeopardy as new polls show ten -- senator ted cruz. >> the gloves have finally come off in the battle between donald trump and his new top rival, ted cruz. >> i don't think he's qualified to be president. >> hours after referring to cruz as a maniac on fox news, trump took to twitter expressing his disappointment in the texas senator, for

questioning his judgement and remarks cruz made at a private fundraiser. cruz jokingly responded with the song maniac from the eight's hit movie flash dance. jabs commas polls show cruz ahead of the billionaire, in the key state of iowa. the des moines register blue bird politics pole in iowa shows cruz ten points ahead, and unprecedented 21-point surge since the pole was last taken in october. >> he's doing the grounds work. he's making the connections. he's working the constituencies that mat area lot in iowa. >> cruz look become a target for marco rubio, third place in most national polls. >> he talks tough on some of these issues, for example, he's going to carpet bomb isis. but the only budget he's ever voted for in his time in the senate is a budget tote cut defense spending. >> new nbc news wall street journal pole finds democrat hillary clinton would trounce both cruz and trump in a general election match up but

would lose to rubio. don champion, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". the fbi wraps up search of california lake in connection with the stand bernadino shooting investigation. officials have been combing the merky lake for three days. the divers reportedly recovered some items, but nothing related to the investigation. officials have been looking for a hard drive missing from one of the shooters' homes. today marks the third anniversary of the mass shooting at sandy hook elementary school in newtown connecticut. twenty children and six adults were killed. authorities say the shooter, 20 year old adam lanza, shot his mother before mounting his attack at the school. lanza turned his gun on himself as police closed in. meanwhile, hundreds of moms across the country took part in the orange walk to end gun violence. the demonstrators want current gun laws changed to make it more difficult for certain groups to buy guns. the participants wore orange because the color symbolizes the value every human live.
