>> judge many you were probably sleeping when we hit the 69 degrees hi, which makes the new record, but temperatures sort of leveling off going throughout the day. so not a bad trends. that's what we are talking about as the day progresses for now, yes, feels good outside. little breezy. especially north and west you go, we are talking about that coming up. but put this into perspective, now into the day, the fourth day of record breaking temperatures, the last three have also been records, here is a look at where we came from, where we ended up, low 70s now for sunday, as well as yesterday. and that broke record from

huge smile and a way to brighten people's lives. >> steven, you were always smiling and laughing, would you radiate that positive attitude to everyone around you. you were someone that always pick me day up. >> in doylestown, greg argos, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". philadelphia police are looking for the person who shot a 11 year old girl in broad daylight in hunting park. that girl was walking home from school yesterday on west luzerne street when a bullet hit her in the foot. we checked on that girl is and she is in stable condition. police only have vague description of the shooter. >> 7,500-dollar reward for the person who knows who shot a bald eagle in pit down new jersey. bald eagle nicknamed lilly injured from the apparent shootingment only cbs-3 cameras were rolling when lilly was rescued last week. the birds now recovering after leg surgery. >> and thanks to generous donation, sam ambulances on the main line have life saving equipment for pets.

all ambulances in narberth now carry oxygen masks for animals that suffer from smoke inhalation. a medic got the idea for the mask after seeing a dog saved in a fire. >> nowadays pets are part of everybody's family. and it is important to have something to help them out too. >> the staff at ardmore animal hospital raised all of those funds to buy the masks. right now, 5:36. time to check on your business news this morning, and investors await the feds next move on interest rate. will they go up? money watch's jill wagner joins us now from the new york torque stock exchange, that's the big question this morning, jill, good morning. >> reporter: well, that's right. good morning, erika. oil prices bounce back a bit. that sent the markets higher yesterday. dow gained 103 points, nasdaq up 18. what could be the most watched fed meeting every all time start today. the fed will likely decide to raise interest rates for the first time since the financial crisis. some say it is overdue. others argue a rate hike could derail economic growth. we'll know more tomorrow. today's the deadline for

how do you not do it? >> exactly one year ago to the day, it was a volunteer with the garden state, that recovered the body of shane montgomery in the schuylkill river. the 21 year old disappeared thanksgiving morning. >> we all have day jobs. we all spends a lot of time, you know, doing normal stuff and then on the weekends we come in and help where we're needed. >> monday night at citizens sense bank park, thought the volunteers de severed recognition and much needed financial support presenting them with $10,000 grant at their charity's holiday giving party. >> we're tide together by the fact that we dive, and that this was our community service. >> the divers pick up searches after police and rescue divers have to move on, sometimes leaving family members with no one to turn to to find their loved ones. >> how do you look at a mother and a father and relatives and say yes, i have the skills, but you know what, i am too busy. i can't help you. >> sunny says the money donated hereby the phillies will go to make sure other

>> police left the scene. officers responding to a call after man with a gun. officer expected to make full recovery. also, new this morning, police are looking for a suspect in the robbery of an exxon station, in north philadelphia. investigators say the suspect used a rifle to rob the clerk. >> and, republicans are gathering for the first presidential debate since the terrorist attacks in paris and san bernardino, donald trump will once again be center stage. ted cruz, though, will also be in the spotlight. he is challenging trump's lead in the iowa polls. 5:44, checking in with katie and our weather watcher. >> definitely still mild out there. temperatures as they stand certainly a lot warm nerve most locations than they'll be later today when the sun has had a chance to shine. that's because still in transition mode. where we are starting to see cooler air settle in. it hasn't totally done that just yet. so temperatures still reading in the low 60s, in a lot of spots, just crazy, right? 61 degrees, we check in with cup ill of these going into little more details, kenneth checked in from willingboro, he is a got nothing more than

couple of clouds, again, 61 degrees, mentioning that there is a little hint of breeze where he is. but really not terribly cold. so, a light jacket is about all he's really suggesting out there. i would totally agree with that. when you have these kind of temperatures, lynn checking in with virtually the same story here. she is finding temperatures at 60 degrees, and her location, not too much rain she said from last night, and actually feeling casino of comfortable. i do want to take you for one more, up to the poconos, our old buddy keith checking in at 56 degrees, we go wide to his observation in sailors berg. clouds are still in place for him. yes, obviously little cooler, but still warm for the standards, up in saylorsburg, after the heavier rain fell throughout the night. now, why is all of that happening? well, you know, storm system actually intensifying, rapidly no less, as it retreats. at least retreating but that's part of the reason some of the wind will start kicking in for us. frontal boundery itself definitely pulling away at this point, things drying out quickly. we see high pressure pay us nice visit here as well as we head into tomorrow.

so the sun going to be shining for you for the better part of the day. 59 degrees, that's your afternoon high. we've already been to the upper 60s this morning, we already have new record for the books. but, this afternoon, is what we are referencing with that. meanwhile, clear, cooler tonight, calming wind we drop to 43 degrees, then move forward tomorrow, just looks like nice day. nice and above average. meanwhile come thursday, we do start to see more rain building in. that's from this next cold front, which is finally going to be the lynch pin to get us not only back to seasonable, but hey, look at this, below average for a change. the weekend looking so much colder by comparison, and perception, meisha, will make it feel that much chillier. woe just haven't seen the temperatures. >> absolutely, coming from the high 60s to the 40's, you bet, katie, thanks so much for. that will good morning 422 eastbound direction at trooper road, see, plenty of headlights and tail light out there. but still, everyone still moving around at posted speeds in this area. the boulevard another area to keep my eye on. see if i could switch.

>> this moving in the southbound direction towards the schuylkill. once you get on the schuylkill westbound at city avenue basically what you are looking at. so looking good, just kind of steady flow starting to hit the roadways, especially the roosevelt. >> plenty of headline. ninety-five southbound at girard obviously one of the ice, always keep our eye out in the morning, especially push toward the 6:00 hour slot. it is looking pretty good right now. i will say we are starting to see levels increase as we normally would on a tuesday. and speaking of that area, construction on 95, girard avenue ramp, 295 north closed, you want to use this alternate, starting tomorrow, you will be re-route today castor avenue, and also, related news here, richmond street is closed between lehigh and allegheny, until 3:00 p.m. today. so this is another area that you want to use this alternate aramingo avenue. another area of construction, just to keep up on, repairing ramps, the schuylkill at south street, eastbound onramp and westbound off ramp closed, 10:00 p.m. tonight, until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. erika, over to you.

>> meisha, thank you. warm temperatures we've enjoyed lately means saving money on heating bills right don't need it. now you should be able to save even more this winter. prices for natural gas and home heating oil have dropped to their lowest levels in more than a decade. they both cost about half as much as last year. experts say, you can expect to pay about 14% less for natural gas this year, and 20% rest for heating oil, thanks to the falling prices and mild winter forecast. as many adults reach their senior years, they oven find it increasingly difficult to live alone. falls often the leading cause of injury, even death for people six a and older. in this week's angie list report, jim donovan takes a look at some things to help seniors age in their homes safely. >> seventy-eight year old katie collins found her arthritis was taking a big toll on her ability to get around. >> i really dn't want to leave my home. >> so she added handrails to her steps to make it easier to come and go. she also made safety upgrades inside of her home.

converting her bathtub to this walk in shower with grab bars. >> now i am able to go into the shower. i have two seat in my shower. i can sit down, give myself, wash up real good, then get up and shower myself, wash my hair, whatever. >> for many senior citizens being able to stay in their own home as they age can be a real benefit. >> not only can it be good for their he elk, but may be cost efficient, too. >> almost always cheaper to stay at home and if we spend a few thousand dollars on an apparatus to help them stay at home, over time, it almost is always the more economical way to go. >> investing in items like ramps, chair lifts, scooters, just few ways to make a home safer. and there are simple changes that can be made too. >> so go around your home, assess where you need to add rales, grab bars, also remove any extension cords, or loose rugs that could be tripping hazards. >> now, if you or loved one wants to age at home as long as possible, consider working with a certified aging and place specialist.
