definitely need the umbrella, rain slicker, fog will continue, casino of good day today with the rain continuing to fall widespread in nature, everyone across the delaware valley being touched by this precipitation, the intensity starting to pick up, as well. temperatures though, they're not too bad. 54 degrees in philadelphia, right now, nearly 60 down the shore, middle 40's that's not too chilly for you in the poconos, but check this out. what a soaker storm scan3 showing us widespread rainfall continuing to impact the area. we are seeing some heavier pocket now develop. we do have the heavier band, seeing kind of the yellow's even pops of orange there near lancaster and just west of reading. that will will continue to kind of move to to the east northeast, much more moisture to contend with as we head into the rest of the afternoon. so rain is for sure near forecast rain continuing heavy at times, but will start to taper during the evening commute. so i think the second half of the evening commute is going to be the better portion, could see few lingering scattered showers into the

evening, bulk of the activity will fall over the next couple of hours, but rainfall totals impress biff half inch, three quarters after inch, maybe even a thin some cases, nicole, as we head into the evening. and this rain finally starts to conclude. then, we deal with some cold weather for the weekends, details on that coming up. >> all right, lauren, thank you. philadelphia jury begins a second day of deliberations in the trial of kathryn knott. she is accused of taking part in attack on same sex couple of in center city last year, not testified during her trial that she never punch or verbally abused the men, two of knott's co-defendant previously pleaded guilty and sentenced to probation. police have arrested 29 year old victor in the victory of his murder in a overbrook home yesterday. officers responded to the 5700 block of woodbine avenue, wednesday afternoon, and found 82 year old solomon dead, after suffering multiple stab wound. police believe an argument led to the stabbing, and knife

found inside the home, victor has been charged with murder. still waiting for autopsy on ten month old child found dead in a philadelphia day care yesterday. baby girl found un response whiff her uncle arrived at the sister's childcare center on the 3500 block of germantown avenue. staff was performing cpr on the baby and the uncle rush her to the hospital where she died. according to state records, the facility has had more than 40 violations in the past two years. >> investigators are searching for the cause behind a fire that destroyed church in wilmington, and injured a firefighter. this is drone footage, from "eyewitness news" viewer. the fire broke out just before 7:00 last night, at the new jerusalem missionary church van defer evidence, reached two alarms before placed under control. firefighter suffered minor injuries, same churr hatch basement fire, just two weeks ago. well, prosecutors in baltimore were back in court this morning, one day after a mistrial for one of the officers charged in the death of freddie gray. cbs news correspondent craig

boswell shows us what a quick retrial would mean for the other officers charged. >> reporter: prosecuted headed back to court this morning day after mistrial was declared in the trial of police officer william porter. port is her one of six officers charged in the april death of freddie gray. gray suffered a severe spinal cord injury while in police custody. the jury in the case was dead-locked on manslaughter and other charges. >> while it may have ripple effect. >> maryland professor says immediate retrial could affect the other five cases. >> you can retry officers porter next and then that trial may induce a plea, or a negotiation. >> another possibility is a plea bargain that would negate a retrial. that will could affect trial of ceasar good son, driver of the police van, prosecutors intends today call porter to the stand in that case. >> he is a potential witness and the question becomes how important is he to the

used cash from his former company, he denies those charges. texas teenager afluenza defense in fatal car crash is wanted by police in noon, two years ago, convicted of two people in a dui crash. given two years probation, his lawyer argued the 16 year old suffered from afluenza, didn't understanded the consequences because he grew up rich. recently video surfaced on social media that could proof a probation violation. now, investigators believe, he's on the run. >> it is not clear on its face that the video in and of itself is a violation of pro became. >> skipping mandatory probation, appointment is also a violation of couch's probation. but at the time of the deadly crash, couch's blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit for an adult. and there were traces of valium in his system. defense secretary, ash

carter, in iraq today, facing questions at home about his private e-mail after the pentagon acknowledged he used to conduct work-related business. correspondent jonathan big lee at i reports. >> next clues i have interview at cbs news, defense secretary ash carter admitted he should never have used his personal e-mail for work. >> what i did, that i shouldn't have been doing, until few months ago, was occasionally use my iphone to send administrative messages. >> administrative messages that carter claims never contained classified information. >> even that i shouldn't have been doing. now, when i realize, that i stopped, but this is, i have to hold myself to absolutely strict standards in terms of cyber security and doing things that are appropriate. i didn't in this case. it is a mistake, and it is entirely my own. >> carter's admission comes after the new york times used

the freedom of information act to obtain 72 work-related emails that he center received back in april. the emails were sent just two months after carter began his tenure as secretary of defense. he says they continued even after hillary clinton came under fire for using personal e-mail and secretary of state. jonathan, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". the president of ukraine wished pope francis a happy 80th birthday in a open letter. the problem is, he was a year early. pope francis was born on december 17th, 1936, which makes today his 79th birthday. now the note was quickly a.m. ended with the correct age after members of the media pointed it out. the ukrainian president's office hasn't commented on the mistake, but, hey, it is the thought that count. at least he wished him happy birthday. >> still ahead on "eyewitness news", we will tell you how you can get into the holiday spirit in less than 30 minute. and how local university is helping to make the

continues to fall pretty widespread across the area and the intensity starting to pick up now. so probably not heading out on your lunch hour unless you want to get little soggy. temperatures as i mentioned not too shabby, but rainfall totals already picking up pretty significant amounts of rainfall across the area, just the last couple of hours, but, you can see, the scene, kind of portrays our thursday, low clouds in the scene thereon "skycam 3", live look at center city, where are the buildings? they're behind the fog and clouds, rain continues to fall, and checking in on our neighborhood network, some rainfall totals already just in the last couple of hours, picking up close to a half inch of rainfall already in kennett square. same case in bethlehem. about quarter of an inch in norristown, about little over .3 of a tent of inch in princeton, new jersey, temperatures though at least not dealing with a bitter cold rain. 54 degrees right now in philadelphia, close to 60 in ac. 59 degrees right now in millville. but storm scan3, showing us, packed in with the precipitation, really everyone

being touched by the rainfall. it started off kind of sprinkle, light intensity, now noticing those darker colors popping up on our radar reflect, radar pocket indicating some heavier rainfall starting to push into part of delaware, and southern new jersey. and this afternoon, you know what to expect, steady rainfall, some pocket of heavier rainfall, start to come to ends as we head into the early evening hours, and rainfall totals, through this event, half inch to possibly an inch, and maybe even some higher than an inch in some locations, especially on our shore points, where we will see some of the heaviest rainfall as we head throughout the afternoon. future wet letter show us that into the 2:00 hour. pockets of heavy rain moving along the coastline. 5:00 hour, still lingering showers, and i think we can still see some scattered shower activity, model in particular, not picking up too much on that. but as we head into the second half of the evening, could still be few showers around, but not going to see that widespread wet weather

activity, we start to dry out, but for today a significant one, rain heavy at times, 59 degrees, tonight, drying out mostly cloudy, cool breeze, 46 degrees, sunset at 4:38. and after the rain moves out, colder air, taking a peak at the weekend ahead it will be cold one, not used to that. 31 degrees to start saturday. forty only for the high on sunday, it will be blustery all throughout the weekend, so those windchills are going to get quite brutal, as we head into saturday morning, and into sunday, as well. checking out your feature feels like tell newer saturday morning, teens, 20's, to wake up to on your weekend morning. must be good weekends to hang indoors. good movie weekend. there is your weekends looking much chillier, but drier, and winter actually begins late sunday night, just few minute before midnight. so our first school day of winter will be on monday, and that's whether we actually start to kick off a warming trends. so it will be a brief cool-down, then of course
