good travel weather today maybe hitting the shopping malls for last minute shopping. we'll get the traffic update coming up. lauren, good news, looks like good news? >> rain clearing on out of here after very soggy day yesterday. some impressive rainfall totals on the orders of an inch in many locations, now things clearing on out. fog is settling in across parts of the area. we'll contend with that over the next couple of hours, temperatures very mild, enjoy this air, because this is some of the most mild air you're going to feel for the next several days. yes, 53 degrees in philadelphia. little breezy, wind out of the west northwest up around 12 miles per hour, 53 down the shore, and chillier in the poconos at 36 degrees, but storm scan3 showing us that rain off shore at this point we could see sprinkle, sneak in over the next couple of hours, but the general trend will be for clearing as we head through the day today but again we are dealing with some of the fog, visibilities down to about half mile right now, in reading, good visibility in philadelphia, but as

temperatures cool over the next several hours we could see some spotty areas of fog redeveloping to get you out the door early this morning, 6:00 hour, 50 degrees, 48 by the 8:00 hour, clouds around, still some issues with some patchy fog, but we will be seeing more sunshine breaking out as we head into the second half of the day w that will come some colder air setting us up for very chilly weekends talks being some of the coldest air of the season, i'll have all of that coming up. first this morning, justin, of course, everyone happy, friday morning, dry roads, good start to the day. >> exactly, you mention threat for fog, most lick will you you get that increasing headed toward sunrise, so far most of the traffic cams looking good. depends where you are as far as the fog goes. vine street expressway remains closed westbound and eastbound from broad to schuylkill. so again heads up there. give it some time. eventually opens things up in just a little bit. we take to you 95, south at allegheny, earlier construction blocking one of the lanes that's now cleared, better news now. now, northbound on 95, between

girard and allegheny, we did have construction, just cleared, one lane block, so we're starting to move pretty good. heads up 295 southbound between route 30 and 42, the left lane stays blocked until 8:00 this morning. due to construction. more construction going on turnpike westbound, between delaware valley to willow grove. right lane stays blocked, as well. heads up. patco, new schedule, this goes until sunday, so make sure to check ahead for the latest there. also on septa new schedules on all of the lines, one of the major disruptions, no weekday service to warminster, west trenton line, again check the post dollars schedules to stay ahead of. that will that's a look at your ride this morning. >> justin, thanks. star wars fans the wait is over. most anticipated mover any decades is now in theatres. morning, and i'll tell you y every now and again you can hear the sub woof or that base kick in in the movie that's playing behind me here this morning. i'm stuck outside, not allowed to see it, but i can tell you this, there are many star wars fans going home this morning, here at the franklin institute i max theater 1:00 a.m. showing let out not too long ago. already inside the 4:00 a.m. group. now we caught up with them as they lined up outside the theater, not too long ago, and in line, we saw fans tall and small alike. we saw a very cute storm trooper, and at least one light saber, although, he had been seduced by the dark signed i try to stay wawrinka from him. 4:00 a.m. did not sell out. right now the 7:00 a.m. show still has tickets available, but only about 50 seat left, the space going fast. and we spoke to fan this morning, as they left that 1:00 a.m. showing, who say star wars, the force awakens, lives up to all of the hype. take a listen. >> it was wonderful, both

nastolgic, people like myself who watched the original as well as folks who hadn't lived through that, new to this area, it was really great. >> reporter: so he was dressed as the emperor, but swears that wasn't his favorite character. he was part of a group that rented out the entire theater at 1:00 a.m. we will talk about that a little later none our show. again, the 4:00 a.m. show now underway, 7:00 a.m. show still has some tickets available, but again that space is going fast, and at 10:00 a.m. it is sold out. so if you don't get here soon you might have to find another place to watch star wars the force awakens, this is very unique experience here at the franklin institute. it is only one of 20 places all across the country showing the movie in a certain type of way. we will explain more about that at 5:00 a.m. nicole? >> hopefully you can sneak into the theater there, jan, thank you. switching gears, new this morning, stabbing right outside the convention center.

>> this happened under the overpass on north 13th street about 10:30 last night when police arrived on the scene they saw man on the ground struggling with two suspects. witnesses say they were using knives to stab in multiple times. once tried to break up the fight. >> we have at least one very good witness who saw clearly what happened. and the witness actually even tried to intervene until the witness saw that the perpetrators actually using knives, stab this individual. >> the 44 year old victim was stabbed at least two times in his head and in his upper body, now this critical condition at hahnemann hospital. police have two suspect in custody and are looking at nearby surveillance cameras for help in this investigation. new jersey state troopers are preparing to bury one of their own after fatal crash in salem county. trooper eli mc carson responding to domestic disturbance this morning. investigators say his vehicle went off quinton elway road in quinton township and floored

utility pole. late last night, pennsylvania straight troopers paid tribute to their fallen comrade from new jersey. at hahnemann hospital they accompanied the fallen trooper's organs which will save the lives of other. trooper mc carson was 30 years old and married, graduated from the academy in february. >> happening today, former death row inmate mumia abu-jamal will argue before a federal judge his medical care has been inadequate. he says failed to provide proper treatment for illnesses including hepatitis c. prison officials want his suit dismissed. abu-jamal now serving live sentence for the 1981 murder of philadelphia police officer daniel faulkner. president obama is planning to meet today with families of the victims of the san bernardino massacre, yesterday the president urged americans to be vigilant over the holiday season. he says, how much, there is no credible information suggesting a potential terrorist attack during the

holidays. meanwhile, friend who of the terrorists face federal charges. police say marquez purchased two assault rifles used in the massacre by farook animal evening. also buying powder for pipe bombs. police say marquez plotted attacks with farook in 2011 and 2012, the attacks never happened. >> a pennsylvania teen is behind bars this morning, accused of helping the terror oup isis. lived on the 1700 block every folten street in harrisburg, now, according to the f.b.i., attempted to provide material support to isil in recent month. they say he also authored a string of hate filled social media postings. one of them threatened president obama saying his group would sever his head at the white house. >> it is pretty crazy. you know, when it is right here at home, it is a different story. you hear it in california and paris, but right up the street from your house you're like this is real. it becomes more realistic for you. >> a physical search of the 19

>> with one week to go before christmas kohl's helping last minute shoppers by staying open 170 hours straight. one of them is at the hill view shopping center in cherry hill. "eyewitness news" was there early this morning as shopper traded sweet for bargains, catering to shoppers who are used to shopping on line. will keep the doors open until christmas eve at 6:00. >> sometimes it helps when a store's open for that many hours, get all of your shopping done, any time, you know? >> just get it out of the way. hard to force yourself out there. hasn't felt like the holiday season. >> well, yesterday wasn't a great day for it. >> yesterday wasn't great day for t yep, there is some improvement. but if you didn't get your cards out, like it was warm, it rained, what are you going to do?

but it will get much colder, feeling more seasonable as we head into the upcoming weekend, down right chill any fact. you will be breaking out the winter coat once again, so do you have dig it out. but yesterday, it was all umbrella rainfall totals bordentown picking up over inch every rainfall through the day yesterday. philadelphia international airport getting close to inch, ac, picking up over .8 of a rainfall, quakertown, well over half inch of rainfall on our very soggy thursday. but conditions are now starting to improve. and we will see clearing skies as we head into the second half of the day today. and we are going to see little fog over the next couple of hours, and that should start to dissipate as we head into the day. i'm having little bit of issue with my clicker here, doesn't seem to want to work. but we will have cooler air building in over the next several hours, will set us up for much colder weekend. and high temperatures are really going to struggle, it will be some of our coldest

air of the season so far. we will talk about that once i can get this up and running. there we go. will reset real quickly, some of the rainfall totals, storm scan3 showing us trend for clearing technology, what are you going to do? sometimes early in the morning, just doesn't want to work. clouds starting to clear, most of the moisture well off shore. but we could see a sprinkle kind of sneak in over the next several hours, but otherwise that cloud deck will start to decrease, especially, for west to east, temperature change over the last 24 hours, actually in a positive numbers in philadelphia. point south and east, notice the colder air dropping in across part of the lehigh valley, poconos, negative temperature drop off and that colder air will be slowly building in through the day today, so actually feeling some of our warmest air of the day so far, right now, philadelphia, 53 degrees, but our high temperature, afternoon high, will actually be 49. decrease in clouds, breezy conditions, cooler, blustery all of the day today.

for some chilly temperares, we just have not had, that colder air is slowly working it way in, as we speak. as the rain is clearing on out, after a very wet and dreary thursday, storm scan3 showing us most of the moisture is off shore. still some clouds in place specially south and east of philadelphia. but we do have showers starting to move kind of northeast, one of the showers certainly could sneak by the jersey coastline over the next couple of hours. maybe even a sprinkle working into southern new jersey, and possibly up into philadelphia. but it will be a mainly dry day. storm scan3, showing us pretty quiet conditions, as the most of the moisture will start to build it way off shore with a cold front that is clearing the area and will bring much chillier temperatures as we head into the weaken. but for right now, mild start to your friday. 51 degrees, but that breeze, it is elevated northwesterly at around 15 miles per hour, and that northwesterly component to the wind flow is already bringing colder temperatures, into the lehigh valley, 44 degrees right now

in allentown, 43 in reading. this is some of the most mild air in philadelphia and point south and east that will feel through the day today with temperatures in the low 50's, and by this weekend, it is going to be much colder, 32 degrees, to kick you off tomorrow morning, on your weekend, 40 for high temperature, would be our coldest of the season, so far. mostly sunny conditions, but down right chilly by sunday morning, justin, 29 degrees. we haven't felt that yet all season long, no 20's, so people will be cranking those heaters in their cars this weekend. >> it has been so warm, and actually close to average this time of year. go figure, not good news for the ski resorts, as well. better news for the vine street expressway, both eastbound and westbound, now open from broad to 76, good shape there. check it out, 95 south at the airport, smooth sailing here, roadways drying out, that's good news, maybe running into few areas of patchy fog specially north and west of the city. otherwise, visibility is look good. we will take you to 76 at spring garden, both directions

inbound and out bound, no problems so far. but that will certainly change over the next couple of hours. heads up. aramingo avenue the ramp to 95 southbound will be closed starting this coming monday there is goes all the way until september 2016. the alternate will be the girard avenue onramp. already, closed is that girard avenue ramp to 95 northbound. that stays closed all the way until june 2017 for that long-term 95 construction project, the alternate there, castor avenue onramp. heads up 295 this morning, southbound between route 30 and 42, the left lane stays blocked until 8:00. could cause minor delays due to construction, route 130 stays closed south of route 620, which is center square road. >> this goes until march 1st, the alternate would be 295. all right, heads up, septa regional rails all new schedules going on on all lines, and heads up the airport line. no weekday service to warminster and west trenton lines, so check ahead for those schedules. that's checking your ride this friday morning, nicole, we send it back to you. >> now a check on some of the

moved on out. so drier conditions on the roads, may run into some fog, but overall in pretty good shape. we'll get a check on the commute. lauren with a check on the forecast, good morning. >> yes, rainy day yesterday, wet roadways, all through the day, rain came down heavy at times, we had impressive rainfall totals across the delaware valley, upward of inch in many locations, especially, across parts of southern new jersey, and closer to the shore point. bordentown picking up over inch of rainfall through the day yesterday. philly international picking up .9 of an inch of rainfall, came close to that in ac. millville picking up .8 after inch in quakertown, well over half inch of thursday rainfall. but storm scan3, showing us most of the moisture well off shore, at this point, few showers starting to approach the delmarva peninsula, we could see little bit of shower activity, sneak by the coastline, as we head into the next couple of hours. but, otherwise, the trends will be for clearing and some cooling as well. chillier air already building in
