meteorologist katie fehlinger. checking the holiday forecast? >> unfortunately can't hook you up this time, not going to make the white christmas dream come true. how much, we are definitely hooking up the folks that love the mild air. i have to tell you overwhelming majority are digging this pattern that i've heard from on social media. talking about what the pattern has up its sleeves, not just the warmth, also some wet weather to track here, and you can see, a very well defined line of rain and even some thunderstorms, extending all the way even off the map at this point down through alabama and mississippi. so that cold front needs to cross through. when it does, we're actually going to see at least modest drop on the they thermometer. talking significant record warmth, thursday, today, 74 degrees, our expected hype, we have already long since shattered the record, that we actually set just last year, expect another record breaker tomorrow and sunday should also be a record breaking day.

meanwhile, here's where we stand right now. pretty decent wind out of there. it is out of the southwest at the moment cents as high as 15, 20 miles per hour, so along with report warmth comes the breeze, the cold front crosses through, the worse of the thunderstorms has since passed but will still she shower, maybe rumble every thunder before it is all said and done. again, the same front brought very nasty storms down south yesterday, as well. nick snow. >> katie, thank you. and those tornados have proven deadly at least nine people have been killed in severe weather across the american south. the storms destroyed homes, and toppled trees and left dozens of people hurt. core upon dent omar a villafranca shows us the devestation from dallas. >> reporter: this tornado owe in clarks dale, mississippi one of several that raked across the southeast, unusually warm air fueled the powerful storms. >> just thankful that our lives are saved. >> tim marberry and family escaped injury, but there is little left of his cuomo

mississippi home. >> just trying to salvage our clothes that is still dry. >> the storms destroyed dozens of houses and knocked out power to thousands. torrential rain and hail also made driving hazardous. this twist nerve nearby holly springs, tossed several cars into the air killing a seven year old boy. in sadderus, a tornado raised across the highway flipping tractor-trailer on its side. pope county arkansas 18 year old killed when a tree crashed in her bedroom. severe weather threat is shifting east today. >> there will be a risk of tornados all the way across the southeast, clusters that continue right through the afternoon and early evening. >> survivors of wednesday's storm say they're great philadelphia for what they still have. >> i'm going to think about that, there is people that will not go home, won't have a house to go to. >> same areas could see more severe storms on christmas. omar villafranca, for cbs-3,

"eyewitness news". well, thankfully no severe weather here at home. but this record setting warm weather is helping some local merchants, as they make those final sales for the holiday season, also helping last minute shoppers, who are running out of time. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff joins us at the gloucester premium outlets. how is it looking out there? is it crowded? >> reporter: you know what it is looking pretty interesting, i am seeing a lot of people with short sleeves. when you see garland, you hear the mariah carey christmas albumn, such a funny site to see here on christmas eve. but it is a good opportunity for those who need to come out and do last minute shopping. the outlets here open since august, so first holiday season. we have shannon here, she works at the gloucester premium outlets. this is your first holiday season and it has been an interesting one, tell me how everything has been looking out here so far? >> it's been amazing, we just opened in august. we're going through first holiday season here, we're seeing lots of shoppers, lots of bags, lot of great discount here. >> now does it have any impact

this weather? seeing a loft people out here today. this is outdoor facility in many ways, that's what makes it great and different from traditional mall. so has that helped sales, do you think? >> correct, 100%. when do you get weather like this in december, when you see people as you mentioned in shorts, t-shirts, so on, but definately having the nice weather having people come out, shop, and it is great. >> great. so you guys have been open since august. now, what do you think that this has offered the community now being here? >> we've opened a lot up for the community here, as you can see behind us, we have the town square area where people can come, more than just shopping here. they get full experience, people come and spend the day even like rainy day today. you have shoppers out, lounging, enjoying all of the amenities that we have either also have the fireplace as well up over there. >> so people can still come out, maybe make the returns. >> after christmas, too, always important. well, thank you so much for being with us, yep, really exciting day out here, different for sure, because i feel like i'm in southern california in many ways. but actually, nicole, as we've

south philadelphia. i love this. crowds came out overnight, to get their hands on fresh made cannoli's, our justin finch found out the only change this year was a warmer wait. >> no, there is no snow, but yes, this is christmas eve morning, at termini's brother's bakery, where more for 09 years, lodge standing winter tradition went on in the warmth. >> it started the whole christmas season, weather, you know, it is warm, cold it, doesn't matter. >> each year crowds come to the south state store and wait overnight. few are first timers. side by side they build fast friendships, stuck together for term inch's famous cannoli's and more. how much do they spends? >> easily two, 250. not a problem. >> talking about 200? >> oh, ya, no, not two, $3. >> my budget set casino of whatever it is, it is. >> never could be prepared enough for what is going to becoming through that door. >> true family business,

legendary pounds cake. average wait about ten minutes, to make sure everybody has a chance every getting one the bakery actually limit each customer to four loaves apiece, make sure there is enough to go around. and the line just as long in south philadelphia, at tenth and christian, they sell all kind of confections, but their cookies are considered by some to be the best in the city. and by the looks of this crowd, i think those customers would agree from isgro. >> philadelphia police looking for the public's help in tracking down a tire slasher caught in the act on video. a surveillance camera catches the suspect along 400 block of hellerman street early tuesday morning. look near the blue arrow on the upper left of your screen here, he disappears behind some cars. police say that's when he slashes the tires, on total of seven cars. if you have any information, you're asked to call philadelphia police. now, within the last hour, this was the scene in feasterville. emergency crews responding to the 300 block of philmont avenue around 11:15 a.m. car crashed into a flatbed semi, and as you can see, it

>> air travelers keeping their eyes to the sky. dangerous weather grounded airports in the northeast yesterday. marlie hall reports now from new york, at the leguardia airport. the christmas eve travel rush is underway, and the delays are stacking up. storms in the south, and eason wednesday, led to concellations and late planes. jennifer lawson's family on flight from new york to dallas last night, but fog and rain stopped it from taking off. >> after three and a half, four hours, i think, on the plane, okay, you're going to have to get off and catch a flight at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. >> more bad weather has already forced airlines to delay around a thousand flights, and canceled more than 100 today, that's on top of yesterday's disruption. >> it was the weather, the weather, the weather. >> stranded travelers red books, while other passed the time on their laptops. some just slept away their frustration. >> for the first time more

morning, also pretty heavy batch of rain that rolled through gloucester, camden counties, but this is the system responsible for all of that damaging severe weather we saw throughout the last 24 hours, in the deep south, thankfully it has cleared out for them. as we heard in don champion's story, they are unfortunately looking at more of the same simply because it is so warm. there is such a clash going on, in this atmosphere. meanwhile at the local level, all we have at this point is hovering over southern new jersey, central, southern delaware, but i do think we could end up seeing another little pocket of showers that roll through at some point, just snapshot view to see where it is centralized, and right through camden county or rather cape may county, and up into atlantic also still finding very light rain. that's about it. as we look at future weather, what you will find, little left over pockets that tends to pop up. don't be shocked if you see few more raindrop roll through, this cold front really is getting out in time for santa to make his flight. so even as we return the clock over, and it is christmas morning at 1:00 a.m., and santa maybe still rolling through the delaware valley,

it looks as though he's just going to have balmy conditions, maybe little fog to contend with, that's where rudolph comes in, then you might have couple of raindrops, not huge deal. 71 degrees at philadelphia international airport. we are expecting to be on pace to climb few more notches up on the thermometer. but that's just exceptional as it is, 75 in raleigh, flirting with 80 in charleston, but you can see where the coal front has crossed through, look how much colder it is between say national and st. louis, cold front has done it job back that way. little fun here, some holiday, christmas theme, here in philadelphia expect to hit record breaking 69 degrees, in comet, north carolina shooting for 70 christmas day, just the 30's christmas michigan. meanwhile little further off to the wet, holly, washington, much colder scenario, if you want snow you got to head out west, and in donor, california, 25 degrees, let's go ahead, take you out to our seven day forecast, because that's important, want to gave you a sense of where things are going here.
