>> thanks a lot. and travelers who use the pennsylvania turnpike will be paying more for the privilege beginning today. our justin finch is live in plymouth meeting at the mid-county tolls where drivers, justin, digging little deeper. good morning. >> rahel, good morning. that's right. everyone is paying a bit more to what's being called across the board toll increase, however, these e-zpass riders today, they may want to listen up. here is why. that that is because you now stand to save as much as 35%. because the most common toll increase for passenger cars with e-zpass now travels up from dollar nine to dollar 16. cash payers, you're paying a bit more from the current one, 70 to the now 1.80. that toll dif end shale rolled back in 2007. the gap then between e-zpass and cash rate was about 7%. of corpse, now, in the year since that rate has risen. the toll hikes themselves began in 2009 to cover the turnpike commission's operational costs, these new rates will also help pay off

state ordered payment to penndot, for roads, and mass transit project. that includes, the widening and rebuilding of the 550-mile system, that turned 75 this october. turnpike spokesman called, tells our "kyw news radio", that drivers will also notice other changes today. >> new main line toll plaza, that will be the start and end of the turnpike's ticket system, that's going to be called the neshaminy falls toll plaza, and it is a mile over so on the east side of the bensalem exit. >> tonight, the next coming days, load up your carts, holdup your change purse, rather, because the pa turnpike is also noting the changes here, as well as on delaware river bridge. those rates will be going up, and going cash-less, as well. live at the tolls, justin finch, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> justin, thanks a lot. new this morning, police are

investigating a homicide in the kensington neighborhood of philadelphia. it happened just after 4:00 this morning, in the 2100 block of amber street. police found a 33 year old man dead in a car with a gunshot wounds to his head. witnesses say they heard about dozen shots fired. no word yet on a suspect. autopsy tomorrow could help investigators pinpoint just when a missing boy went into a canal in allentown new years eve. greg argos shows us, the five year old boy's body was located during a exhaustive search. >> show them light, so follow the light and go to heaven, you know, with the angels. >> dozens of the allentown community gather lighting the path for jahlil bass tis that. his body recovered in the lehigh river. some 8 feet from its banks. >> this is a sad conclusion to the search. it is a sad day for our city. but as always, the city pulled

together. >> allentown police department chief says the five year old autistic boy wandered away from new years eve party around 10:30 thursday night wearing no shoes, no jacket, but caring his favorite red tablet. hundreds every police searching in the air on the grounds and in the water for the five year old. as volunteers came from all over pennsylvania to assist. >> i came all the way from least port, pa. >> george keller was on the banks of the river saturday when he spotted something shiny. >> i went in, up to about my chest, and it was a tablet. we pick it up. brought it up to the truck. called 911. >> police then copped dollars off the area. >> the allen ten fire department dive time at that point in time recovered the body of five year old. >> ricardo gonzalez like so many others who search? >> everybody stopped what they were doing, and they went looking nor child. >> he said he is glad the family can now finally begin the long and painful grieving process. >> now the chief of the

allentown police department says this does appear to be a tragic accident. though, his department is going to open up a full investigation into jahlil's death. as for the coronor, he tells us a autopsy is scheduled 8:00 a.m. monday. reporting here in allentown, greg argos, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> for many, the mummers parade was a fun filled and familiar philadelphia tradition. the mayor elect jim kenney and parade organizers are condemning some of the performances. this video, you can see, mummers painted their face brown, portray mexicans, also group that some called trans phobic. as they mocked trans gender activist caitlin jenner. kenny tweeted quote our trans citizens do not de is her of this type of satire insult. >> also, reports of homophobe ya at this year's parade. >> this video caught one member of a mummers yelling

slurs. >> they say, they condemn the hateful speech spoken by a person marching with begin gannon new years day. the man you saw in that that video has been banned from the mummers club he belonged tonight he will not be allowed to march with any other club, and is not considered a mummer any more. >> a new jersey woman is facing charges after she allegedly jumped into someone else's car and hit several other vehicles at an atlantic city casino. eyewitness video shows the incident and the moment the security pull her out of the car. police say 39 year old joanna costas was drunk early new years day at the tropicana hotel and casino. she allegedly entered unoccupied vehicle that was waiting in a vallet lane to be parked, then hit the other cars, while trying to drive away. she now faces several charges, including dui. >> the powerball jackpot now stands at estimated $400 million. jackpot winners, none last night, so that means the prize keeps on growing. you still could have won a smaller prize, though. so check your numbers.

over for some. >> very little celebrating after new years in parts every missouri saturday. instead resident are cleaning up debris left behind by massive and deadly flood still posing a threat. >> we got to get that debris out of there. >> the governor touring some of the hard ers hit regions, several interstate highways now back open in the st. louis area. water levels have fallen several feet. many homes are still far from drying out. while missouri in the recovery process, states like illinois are nervously anticipating more flooding, and more damages. alexander county where the mississippi and ohio rivers meet, water expected to crest sunday, more than 3 feet above major flooding stage. >> you live in the water. you can expect anything, never once expected it to be this high. >> according to officials water has already gone over the top of one levy, and a second levy has a good potential of over topping. the flooding has forced evacuations in the southern part of the state. governor ron activated members of the illinois national guard to assist local authorities,

dropping into the 20's in a lot of locations but highs today rebound nicely, pleasant finish to the holiday weekend, then talking about arctic blast, arrives tonight, monday, tuesday, and nice dry stretch of weather so if you like sunshine as well you will like the next five days or so. here you go. interior south jersey normally the cold spot, millville 25 degrees, sitting at freezing in the capitol city of delaware, colder newark, 27. cherry hill also below freezing upper 20's as well as voorhees and mullica hill. freezing at the airport, so similar to yesterday, waking up with temperatures below freezing, and with calm winds, a loft areas with frost. also, great snow making conditions with this cold dry air mass in place, that's good news for the ski resorts, looks good for the next several days. there is arctic cold front across southern canada. see the snow showers firing out. we're clear, decent amount of sunshine today, front doesn't come through until later tonight, early tomorrow morning, bridges cold air. the front should come through dry, just few clouds, then tomorrow morning feel the

difference. highs on monday and tuesday, about five to 10 degrees below average. keep in mind should be 41 this time year of, that means talking about highs in low and mid 30's. so today comfortable, dry, here comes the front through the over night hours tonight, maybe flurry or two specially into the mountains, poconos, tomorrow mostly sunny skies, it will be windy, just noticeably colderment then the high pressure moves over us for tuesday, just blocking for many stores of storms, locks in cold air for one more day. today not bad. mid and upper 40's for the afternoon conditions, pretty pleasant sunday afternoon. tonight it does get cold. tomorrow morning wake up, many areas well below freezing, even in and around the city 28 degrees. that means the suburbs will be dropping down to the low 20's, then factor in the wind it feels whole lot colder. and afternoon temperatures monday, that's it, mid 30's, pretty much at best. let's talk about those windchills. tomorrow when the winds really kicks up in the morning, it will feel like teens to about 20 degrees most locations, not much better through the afternoon, and then probably windchill values in the single digits, on tuesday morning.

how about the trends? this is for the middle of the month. january 10th through the 16th. first time, haven't seen this in a while, below average concerns for the eastern half of the united states, that's what we will be dealing with, so expect typical winter winter like conditions the next couple of weeks, hard to look at patterns next two weeks, but every now and then shots every colder air through the middle of the monthment mostly sunny, breezy, 27 degrees, tonight cold, 28 for the sit colder in the suburbs, extended forecast, few more clouds around monday, still decent amount of sun. that's the trends through much of the week. short lived arctic blast, mid 30's for highs both monday, tuesday, back into the 40's through the end of the week. looks like next shot for rain late friday into saturday. >> thanks, justin. 7:16. time to see how traffic is moving. here's ann evans at the cbs traffic center two, mod, ann. >> busy travel day today. right near 30th street station, no delays or problems

nearly 200 muslim workers have been fired from a meat packing plant in colorado. cbs news correspondent jericka duncan reports, they were fired for walking out after a dispute over prayer breaks. break five times a day a must for many muslims. tony said missing even one of those prayers over break time dispute caused him and many others to walk away from his job at this meat packing plant in colorado. >> it don't matter if i don't have a job, my religion more important. >> spokesperson michael martin says prayer is allowed, but he says miss under standing of company policy came on december 18th, when 11 workers asked for a break, to pray at the same time. >> the supervisor told the employees they do go pray, but could have to go in smaller numbers than 11. it would have to be three at a

time. >> that following monday, nearly 200 employees from the muslim community didn't show to up work for three consecutive days. the company fired them all. >> there are times when accommodation is not possible, but in the overwhelming imagine or tip of instances we do everything we can to ensure that we do accommodate employees. >> representing 150 workers who are now without work. >> now we are getting supervisors who are telling our clients to go home if they want to pray. they are denying their basic right to practice their fate reasonably with -- at their employment, they seem to be losing one of the most basic funds mental rights cargill now hiring to fill the shoes who walked out. areas have been set up since 2009 to accommodate anyone who requested time to pray. the council on american islamic relations is hoping to reach an agreement with

battling sun glare throughout the morning. no storms coming at us across the mid-atlantic and northeast. freezing at the airport, mid 20's, in a lot of the cold spots, especially up in the lehigh valley, interior south jersey are dropped this morning. twenty-three at this hour, in quakertown. winds, good news, pretty much calm to maybe about 5 miles per hour. so, no nasty windchills just yet. it will be different come tomorrow and certainly on tuesday morning. there is storm scan3, nothing happening, clear skies, full sunshine, pretty much today. few clouds roll in tonight, with the auric cold front. this morning it is clear, it is cold, 20's, three's, temperatures, quickly climbing up into the 40's for this afternoon. so our highs are actually going to be above average today. average high 41, we make it to 47 degrees for philadelphia, 48 at the shore, mid 30's in the poconos, and then tomorrow, true signs of winter coming at us. high temperature of 36 degrees. that would be the coldest day since march 6th of 2015. so been a while since we had high temperatures that cold. we will talk about how long that lasts coming up in the full forecast in a few

minutes, rahel, back to you. >> justin, thank you. and there is a turnpike toll increase happening today in pennsylvania, drivers will be paying more e-zpass or not. justin finch shows us what it means for travelers in the keystone state this morning. justin, good morning. >> reporter: rahel, good morning. load up the e-zpasses, start rounding up the extra change, because overnight the turnpike polls did tick bit higher just in time for the new year. passenger cars with e-zpasses are now saving, at much as 35% compared to cash customer counterpart. dollar 16 is what you will pay today and on for cash payers that is correct dollar 70 rate is out, dollar 80 is now in. but why the hike? well, the new rates will help the turnpike commission pay the bills will help pay for roadway and mass transit project. among them, the widening and rebuild of the 75 year old 550-mile system that did turn

countries warned of further backlash. saudi arabia insists the excuses were part of quote justified war on terrorism. cbs news correspondent jonathan investigate lee at i reports, critics say the cleric, they killed, was a protester who posed no threat. >> reported all 47 men killed in the mass execution were members of al quaida. including prominent she i can cleric. but the charismatic religious leader known by his followers as peaceful reformist who opposed violence. news every his death sparked wave of protest around the region, iranian capitol of tehran, demonstrators ransacked the saudi embassy, set it on fire. protests turned violent as police fired tear gas, and in saudi arabia near them you are home in the eastern province, both men and women took to the streets chanting. iran used their state run news

once they're moved there will be 90 detainees left in guantanamo bay. president obama has tried unsuccessfully to close, since taking offers, he called it magnet for jihad recruitment. it was neighborhood prank gone wrong. teenager in the hospital after he was shot during a game of dingdong ditch. cbs news correspondent marlie hall has the details. coal peyton started 2016 in a hospital bed. police chief steven lem g says the 14 year old shot while pulling a neighborhood prank we've had report of some kids running around neighborhoods, ringing doorbells, running. >> at about 1:30 a.m. new years day authorities got call involving peyton and two friends. trying to break-in. >> found him on the shoot earth front porch struck in the arm and stomach.

the group called new world hacking, which claims to focus its effort on terror groups like isis, so they took it down for quote one hour test. new world hacking also took credit for shutting down the bbc news' website earlier this week. >> site of san bernardino shooting rampage left 14 people dead, 21 injured, is set to reopen tomorrow. there will be tighter security, as the regional center 600 employees return to work. september err has been closed since december 2nd, when sigh ad and his wife tashfeen malik started their shooting rampage. both were killed later in a shoot-out with police. >> tomorrow the president will work to get back to work beginning his final year in office, with new action on gun control. he'll meet with attorney general loretta lynch. the president wants to expand background checks, and the executive order he's intending on issuing don't require approval from congress. cbs news correspondent kris van cleave has more on the
