character. especially since i think the script was well craft today give me the opportunity, the character opportunity for some unanticipated influence over the lives of some of the other characters. >> obviously you are imagining a story. you are creating a story as you go along, but you didn't have to imagine the extra things, you didn't have to imagine the heat, dirt, or sand because it was there. you didn't have to imagine the little droid next to you because the droid is there. so, yeah, it was amazing. >> camera, action! >> one of the things that made the first star wars films feel so authentic and legit, they were, they were things shot in places like too nich tunisia. there was all the story that we were telling not just do it against a blue screen and put if in later. >> those crazy. owe my gosh. oh, my gosh. >> it was all real. it was fall front of me and i felt like i was on a different planet. ♪ ♪

>> right now on eyewitness news 2016 begins with an arctic blast. plenty of folks bundled up as we shimmer our way through the coldest air of the season. good evening i'm natasha brown. thank you so much for staying up a bit late with us tonight. the mild temperatures seem like a distance memory. in our weather center if we can go back a week or so. we turn a calendar page and we turn off the record warmth we had all the month of december. record warmth in philadelphia. january came and temperatures they fell. it was a nice winter weekend. temperatures more season in a bell the last two days.

even colder winter is going to mean business as we head into the next couple days. 35 degrees. wind chill in the upper 20s. freezing mark down the shore. upper 20s in the poconos. showing us quiet conditions across the delaware valley. showers across parts of pennsylvania. new york state usher ring in colder air. in association with arctic cold front that's going to drop in as we head into the day tomorrow. we are going to feel affect big time. wind chills developing in a single digits as we head into tomorrow evening. and that's including in the city. but it is going to be a brief arctic blast as we head into weds temperatures are going to rebound. tuesday will be our coldest day of the season by far. we'll talk about friend forecast in a couple minutes into in philadelphia police meantime are i know investigating a triple shooting. happened in the fair hill

section of north philly. greg argos has the latest now from police headquarters. >> reporter: as family members of one of the victims leaves the area interiors philadelphia police are piecing together what led to a deadly gun battle in north philly before six sunday evening. >> into we know at least 20 shots were fired from two separate weapons. one of those weapons is an assault rifle. >> right now the shooter is not in custody. >> reporter: left a horrible seen. killing one man and critically injuring two others. scott small says a 47 year old man is dead a 17 year old teen is in critical condition. and a third man shot in the head is also fighting for his life. >> at the hop i found that he was wearing a bullet proof vest. >> reporter: that person has no doesn't fiction on him. he's considered a john dough. but small says besides the bullet proof vest he also carried a semi-automatic

handgun. >> very unusual for somebody not involved in police work or security work to be wearing a bullet proof vest. we know he's not a philadelphia police officers. since he's not identified we don't know for sure if he's involved in any type of security or type of guard. >> reporter: police also don't have a motive. though they have a theory as to why the shooting happened. >> i can tell that you the intersection of front and is known for street level drug sales. >> reporter: neighbors agree that may be what led to this killing. >> they do it all the time. and it's crazy. thy never stop. it scares me now i want to go in the house and lock the door. >> reporter: philadelphia police say both crime surveillance cameras and business cameras captured all if not part of the shooting one of the suspect seen running from the area a male wearing a gray hoodie and a gray hat. reporting here i'm greg argos cbs3 eyewitness
