and about. the coldest air of the season is upon us, however, there is good news ahead. that wind chill that made the wind so ice cold is getting out of here. hi everybody good evening i'm ukee washington. i'm jessica dean. a code blue is back in effect for camden county and that means it can be dangerously cold. we will get our first look at the forecast with meteorologist kate bilo live on the sky deck, kate. >> dangerous cold indeed ukee and guess contact when you talk about temperatures in the teens that can be dangerous for those who may not have a place to get warm through the overnight hours. got news is the wind not as biting as it was at this time last night and that means those nasty wind chills we felt feeling like sub zero for a time last night in philadelphia a that is not something we will have to contend with tonight. this is just straight winter cold. lets look at storm scan three. clear skies across the region, beautiful star lit sky outside tonight, no problems, on that front. we are not tracking rain, snow as of right the now. big story, of course, temperatures and they are dropping steadily.

million willville is down to 19 degrees, 30 in philadelphia. nineteen in mount pocono. twenty-nine in al-zawahiri even town. if you will remember we were at these numbers this time last night, wind chills were only in the teens. the right now wind chills not as bad. feels like 25 in philadelphia, certainly still cold and still dangerously cold if you are out too long and not properly bundled up but not quite as bad as it was and as it could be. that will be the theme of the forecast moving forward not as bad, we will warm up, i'll have details with the seven day when i join you inside. now back over to you. philadelphia fire fighters battled freezing temperatures while working to get control of the the fire in the cobbs creek golf club this he were called to the 7500 block of cardington road just after 11:00. that fire destroyed a clubhouse but spared two other buildings. in addition to the cold weather officials say water issues did not make it easier to fight the fire. >> this edge of the city so water pressure is not as great as it is in other parts of the city. upper darby, responded from

"eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is live in glen mills with more tonight, greg. >> good evening, we spoke with the grandparent and sandy hook victim as well as a licensed, firearms, dealer here in the state of pennsylvania. both had very similar reactions to the president's executive actions on gun conn troll. >> he been my guardian angel. >> reporter: benjamin wheeler is one of the children killed during sandy hook massacre and not a day goes by his grandfather does not think of the first grader.

>> i talk to him every single day. wow. every day. today the the president shared that emotion as he called for a sense of urgency in fighting gun violence. >> every time i think about those kids, it gets me mad. by the way, it happened on the streets of chicago every day. >> reporter: the president signed the executive action that woman date background checks for anyone purchasing a firearm, including at gun shows and on line. >> interesting, it is a big change. the is there already laws out that says if you sell guns you need to be registered and you need to do background checks. the only thing i saw today was that we are including all gun owners. to me it is not a big deal. >> reporter: key carmen says is to enforce laws already on the books. >> safety check. >> reporter: licensed gun dealer jim benoit agrees.

control. commissioner richard ross was sworn in earlier today and he did not waste outlining his vision for the city. "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter joins us from police headquarters with more on that, walt. >> reporter: ukee, ross has moved into his new office here moments after being sworn in he made two things very clear. he was deeply grateful and fully supported officers who risked their lives every day but the second thing and he warned there would be changes in policy that will be coming under this administration. >> i will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity. >> congratulations. >> thank you. >> reporter: applause, hand shakes, and hugs, welcomed richard ross as philadelphia's 30th police commissioner. ross, a 26 year veteran who returned to his central high school alma matter to be sworn in, thanked the 6600 officers will now lead. >> it is because of your hard work and your dedication and your service that i'm able to stand here today.

>> reporter: but ross cautions that echoing the thoughts of mayor jim kenney in his inauguration speech on monday that changes are coming. >> there have been some things that have happened across this country that unless you are mind you would have to see that things got to get better. so we have to work on that. >> reporter: among ross's priorities changing the cities stop and frisk policies and reviving how immigrant arrests are handled. based on a executive order, signed by kenney declaring philadelphia a a sanctuary city. >> we're talking about improving relations between police and community, but our immigrant communities ara frayed to talk to an officer or being in their presence that they will wind up in the federal prison or deported. >> reporter: commissioner adding that he supports the president's new gun initiative, which he believes will help protect his officers, and those that they are charged with caring for. >> hopefully we can give some sense of reasonableness about

this morning. while the stepfather was inside the man got in the running car and took off. vehicle was recovered a mile away and little will boy was still asleep inside. he was quickly reunited with his parents. >> tears, lot of emotion but they were real happy. fortunately the the the vehicle was still running when the police found it because it is really cold out here good suspect now faces auto theft and kidnapping charges. well, after the eagles lost their chance at the playoffs one facebook users said they played like they were wearing t utus but pennsylvania ballet did not take that statement lightly. >> their reaction has now been shared more than 25,000 times. stahl is here with that story. >> reporter: this is special. the doctors at chop save lives all the time but the experimental treatment for one little girl has changed the face of cancer treatment. she and her family were back to say thank you with a big dough nation. emily whitehead foundation donated $100,000 to chop's cancer center where ten year-old emily became first pied the yacht trick patient in the world to have an experimental immuno therapy treatment for a leukemia. >> overall you feel good. >> yeah. >> we were hoping for anything. this was her last chance, only thing we had left. >> reporter: emily relapsed twice when her parents decided to try experimental treatment in 2012. >> genetically engineering each patient's immune system so it can go back and kill their own cancer cells. this is brand new completely different, totally new way to treat cancer. >> reporter: doctor steve up says the therapy has been used to treat 80 children.

93 percent are in remission like emily. >> it started here, with you and emily what does this mean for you a as a doctor. >> just amazing to me personally to see her recover so quickly from her terrible disease and see how well she has done. >> she sleeps a lot. >> reporter: these days emily is folksed on her dog lucy and her school. >> technically in remission emily has in signs of leukemia. >> they tell us emily is writing history books because she was first child in the world to be free of leukemia. >> reporter: with this donation from money they raised whitehead's hope other children can shall safe. >> other than emily having success it is one of the most proud time of my life. >> reporter: treatment called c cell therapy is still experimental, and it is expect to be reviewed by the f.d.a. later this year. doctors are also hoping that it can be expanded some day to treat other cancers, you know, it was all started by emily. she is a little camera shy but boy is she a brave little
