now looking dry, overnight construction slowly starting to get out of the way. what's in store for us? >> looks like the rain will hang on or hold off until we hit the weaken here. so it comes i guess when you could say at a good time, unless you had outdoor plans this weekend, at least not battling wet weather through any kind of major traffic jams out there. at least not typical rush hour this weekend. but, storm scan3, still pretty quiet. we showed you the early wide zoom for a reason, storm has yet to makes its arrival. awaiting its arrival until later on tonight really. so storm scan3, we put hinges into motion, finds clouds out there, but not expecting wet weather just yet, that holds off until later tonight. let's go ahead, take a look what we do have coming up here, that's winter weather advisory, strictly for monroe county, giles and other portions of the poconos. what this tells you is that you are going to have enough warmth in place everywhere else, even in carbon county, even in the lehigh valley, that you won't have to worry about any icing, it might get cold enough you might see

little icing take place late tonight into early tomorrow up toward monroe countiment looking at the area temperatures right now, you can understanded why. starting off on chillier note, 40 degrees at the airport, in the upper 30's generally everywhere else, save for the mountain us terrain, mid 30's in some of the northern outlying suburbs outside every philadelphia, but despite the chill, definitely been colder than that in recent days. so it won't feel as bad to you. meanwhile today's high, well above average. frankly, clouds, you get at least little hint every sunday shine. because awaiting the arrival of storm system, clouds will be building and building and then eventually meisha at wet weather will make it arrival, but we've got some time to kill before that happens you. >> said it, above average. that's a silver lining, katie, we have something to grab onto. good morning, happy friday to you. we made it through the work week. disable vehicle, schuylkill eastbound ramps at the blue route northbound pulled off to the shoulder here not causing too many slow downs, it is very busy, if it doesn't get

out of our way it can cause some problems for us moving on into the morning. ben franklin bridge, beautiful shot, coming westbound from jersey looking great here, looking nice and quiet as it should. all of those lights, bright and lit, again, that dark sky, still very dark outside obviously, vine looking good, looks like the westbound side might just be trying to open, eastbound usually follows, but just note the vine right now for the most part we're getting reports it is still closed until usually around 5:00 a.m. construction 295 south the ramp to 42, ramp closed until 5:00 a.m. same area, southbound leading to the ramp between route 30 and route 42 and northbound 295 between route 42 and route 168, one lane in both directions is closed until 6:00 a.m. nicole, back over to you. significance of. >> suspect amend officer 60th and spruce streets while officer was in his police cruiser. justin finch is live for us at

penn presbyterian medical center, doctors are treat that officer. how is he doing this morning, justin? >> we are told he has long road ahead. commissioner richard ross and mayor jim kenney gave briefing overnight calling officer jesse heart net brave, and also saying his quick actions helped to save his life. we do have radio moments from police radio just after he was hit. >> bleeding heavily. has been shot. >> police say this ambush happened about 11:40 thursday night at the corner of south 60 street and spruce streets, officer heartnet was hit within his cruiser approaching the intersection, that's when the shooter began his approach on foot, walking and shooting a 9-millimeter gun we are told and continuing to shoot right into that cruiser window. in all, he shot 13 shots. officer heartnet did return fire, striking the suspect at least three times, we are, to the suspect we are told is a 30 year old man. he tried to escape on foot,

but he was caught near that area at 60 ' and delancey streets. weapon was recovered, as well. off the err brought to pen by tear tear yan, the suspect to h.u.p. the mayor here comforting heartnet and commissioner ross says there is video of the near fatal encounter. >> i just have to tell you this, when you look at the video, weaver some video we captured of this, this is absolutely one of the czar yes, sir things i've ever seen. my end there is guy tried to execute the police officer. police office her no idea he was coming, it is amazing essay life. he was shot three times in his left arm. to, significant damage to his arm, he's got at least a broken arm, significant damage to his nerves, fortunately, he's awake, he was coherent, he is okay. >> reporter: the commissioner said that given the circumstances, it is amazing, and he is very lucky to be

alive. officer jesse heartnet, 18th district officer with a five years on the force. no word on the name or the condition of that suspect. we will be here all morning, nicole, with more update. back over to you. >> thank goodness he is okay, justin, thanks for that update. meanwhile philadelphia police are trying to figure out what prompted a man to jump to his death following a wild wrong way crash on the roosevelt boulevard. police say the 29 year old driver took a daring leap after crashing into three cars while driving the wrong way. the chaos unfolded during yesterday evening's rush hour. near the ridge avenue off ramp. >> the driver of the chrysler 300 was traveling northbound the wrong way in the southbound lane at the boulevard extension at ridge when he struck and side-swiped two vehicles that were traveling south on the extension, and then had a head-on collision with a third vehicle. >> three people suffered non-life threatening injuries. police believe the drama began over a domestic dispute.

>> authorities have made two arrests in a multi state terror probe. this morning, two middle eastern refugees will be in court. officials say a 23 year old sacramento resident managed to travel to syria to fight alongside a terror organization. according to the feds, that man is somehow connected to a 24 year old houston resident, who is accused of providing material support to isis. >> well, vandals strike camden county church and this morning police are searching for who did it. someone lashed out inside sanctuary of saint lauren church. they smashed half dozen stained glass windows and prayer candles and several items were knocked to the floor. nothing was stolen. many in the church are praying for who ever is responsible. i just wish we had a chance to maybe help them out in anyway we could, talk with them, or see what's going on, see what's bothering them. because, obviously, they're angry, or in pain, or something. so, we feel badly for them. >> police did manage to lift set of fingerprints from the scene that will be sent to the lab for analysis.

a new steeple now sits atop burholme baptist church in northeast philadelphia, "eyewitness news" was there as crews used large crane to install it yesterday. strong winds destroyed the old steeple last february. parishioners were inside the churr of when it collapse during services, no one was injured. the new steeple was trucked in from kentucky. >> a plan to raise new jersey smoking age is scheduled for a vote before the assembly on monday. the measure has cleared the senate, some lawmakers want to raise the age for all tobacco sales from 19 to 21. that includes e-cigarette. some say they're old enough to make their own decision asks. one of the bill sponsors say it would save millions of dollars in healthcare for would be smokers who don't start. >> we know that young minds don't develop so much later. fan they adopt addictive behaviors early on in life, then they will continue with these sort after dick tiff behaviors. >> i mean, i guess it is good for people to not start. it is hard to stop once you start. but i do think it is a little

have a loft clouds building in over the ben franklin bridge, but visibility is good. and any of the clouds are higher up in the atmosphere. as we move next, onto storm scan3, well, you will find the clouds starting to build in from southwest to northeast, obviously sign every things to come, when you zoom out once, twice, you can see, some of the mo is tour starting to lift in across kentucky, indianna, and that's what's headed our way. now, at first, really only talking about handful of showers out of this. this is larger system, how much, eventually cold front that's got to sweep through. i want to walk you through the timing on. that will generally speaking i think you'll see at least couple of sunny breaks out there, the clouds are kind of the story through the rest of the day. and then as we head toward night fall, here you go. few of the showers start to build in. and there is indication that maybe in the mountain us terrain you end up with little hint every icing. that's why we have the winter weather advisory as we showed you earlier in the broadcast posted for monroe county. inbetween frontal boundaries we sit in the warm sector tomorrow. milder day, some fogs, clouds, drizzle, showers too, but the main thrust every moisture

>> more now on top story, philadelphia police officer shot overnight in what commissioner richard rot is calling an ambush. it happened as the officer sat in his patrol karat 60th and spruce, the officer was hit in the arm three times, then is expected to survive. the suspect was also shot. we'll have a live update just ahead at 5:00. and we expect to learn more today about two middle eastern refugees, arrested in a terror probe. authorities say the men, who live in sacramento, and houston, were supporting the islamic state. they're due in court later today.

>> new jersey lawmakers discussing a measure to raise the legal age from all -- for all tobacco sales from 19 to 21. that will would include e-cigarette. measure goes to the legislature on monday. >> 4:50, time for check on your business news, money watch's jill wagner joins us live from morning from the new york stock exchange, good morning, jill. so the chinese stock market regains some of the gain it lost during yesterday's free-fall, but pretty rough start to this year. what are investors watching for today? >> reporter: good morning, nicole. so this morning the shanghai composite finished the day 2% higher. chinese officials suspended circuit breaker regulations that shutdown trading yesterday and monday, a lot of trade hers argued that that was actually creating more panic in the markets. now as for europe, markets there are trading higher, as women. so on wall street, regardless, the worse start ever for the us stock market, the nasdaq and the dow both down enough to be called a correction. that means they've dropped 10%

from previous high's, the good news, nicole, looking at the big board, right now, futures are pointing to a higher open. so, perhaps today will make up some of that lost grounds. >> we'll take whatever good news you've got, jill. also, hearing there is a big report about the us economy. so what are analysts expecting to hear on that front? >> reporter: okay, so traders today will actually be turning their attention from china to the u.s. economy. the government releases the december jobs report this morning, before the opening bell, so this will be the first measure of how many jobs are created in all of last year. analysts expect that the unemployment rate, either held steady at about 5%, or that it fell to 4.9%, it is in that happens it would be the first time the unemployment rate fell below 5% since 2007. so we'll see that 8:30 this morning, nicole? >> wait for, that jill, thanks, we appreciate the update. see you soon. >> all right, right now, the powerball jackpot is $700 million. and it could grow even larger

the bad weather not here yet, certainly nice window of opportunity of dry weather opportunity if you have any outdoor plans here today, but will eventually be some showers that start to dot the area radar specially by tonight. for now storm scan pretty quiet. hands full of clouds, those will continue to build, actually see the signs that far already, back through western maryland, and western pennsylvania, and again, that's all headed our way with time here today. so, we start to see some of the showers picking up for you, sort of timing everything

out, it is mainly tonight, that the wet weather starts to pick up, region wide, and then tomorrow not going to call it a wash out by any means, but it is damp and dreary. you will have clouds, fog, dizzle, hands full of showers once in a while, but the steadiers and heaviest rain comes saturday overnight into specially sunday morning, so that's when you will be dodging some pretty heavy downpours, and it looks like that will be sort of very widespread across our region. looking forward in the forecast though, check the temperatures, obviously, it is way too warm for anything but plane old rain. but there may be some icing in the far northern mountain us terrain, so go into monroe county, for example, and you may start to find some icing take place later on on saturday, or rather tonight, into tomorrow. but meisha, as we move forward in the forecast, temperatures do plummet out once again. >> sounds that way, and rain, but the good thing it sounds like it will be on the weekends, not going to hurt our commute. roadways nice and dry. good morning everyone, it is friday, remember, we wake up on a friday, naturally in a good mood. at least i know i am.

good morning, happy friday ladies? yes, good morning, tgif. roadways looking pretty good. just dealing with disable vehicle, stuff on mass transit i want to tell you about, as well. big news, the rain may shall pushing in this weekend, what's in store for thus morning? >> thankfully nothing in terms every any precipitation. thankfully looking at pretty quiet drive i would say, at least when it comes to how the weather will impact you. not dealing with a heck of a lot of sun glare, and also not dealing with any precipitation. so kind of the best of both worlds here. not the brightest start to the day. much like we've seen in recent mornings, you've had gorgeous sunrise, and also chill in the air. but now that's all starting, the tides turning on us, so to speak, we start to see more cloud cover building in, sign every things to come. looking at storm scan3, at the localized zoom, do you still have across the region dry conditions. but when we throw the satelite coverage over top of this, starting to see some of the clouds building in, and, again, it is just a sign of what's yet to come. eventually, we do start to see the wet weather building in. in the form of just showers, but primarily not until to
