from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia, this is cbs3 "eyewitness news" right now on "eyewitness news", the philadelphia police department takes new steps to protect it's officers as they investigate a potential threat related to the ambush shooting of one of their own. i'm natasha brown, thank you for joining us. police received an anonymous tip that the man who allegedly shot officer jesse hartnett may have ties to a radical group. greg argos has the latest. >> reporter: natasha, good evening, sources say the tip came in yesterday. the alleged shooter in this is part of a larger group and warning philadelphia police officers they need to be extra careful. an anonymous tip has philadelphia police and the fbi on high alert. >> it's being investigated and taken credible. >> reporter: sources tell cbs3 "eyewitness news" a woman approached an officer saturday

near 60th and wall. she told the cop 30-year-old edward archer the 30-year-old is part of a group that consists of three others. archer is not the most radical of the four and the threat to police is not over. >> he was the least radical. he was an urban terrorist. whether it was islam, isis, whether it was just, he's in this group, whatever the hell it is, this guy needs to be, these other three need to be looked at if it is credible taken off the street and investigated. >> reporter: he's in police custody charged with attempted murder charge thursday evening. the five-year police department veteran is still recovering from three three bullet wounds to the left arm. >> today groggy, scheduled to go into surgery tomorrow. right now, he's, he's lucky to be alive. >> reporter: the fbi in philadelphia police confirm they're both actively very
