creato, three years old was found not even a mile, from his dad's apartment, here in haddon township. it was a a lot of confusion about what actually, killed brendan, what caused him to die. the toxicology reports, and the autopsy reports, came back inconclusive. there was a lot of concern about how this little will boy could have gotten outside, of his dad's apartment, and walk early morning hours, to the park where he was found. if that is in fact had happened. i want to play a 911 call when dj creato noticed his son missing, and he called police. less take a listen. >> you didn't hear anything or see anything, nothing like that? >> no, i just woke up and he wasn't there. i don't know what happened. i don't know where he is. the door was lock. i guess he unlock it and left. >> reporter: dj creato in police custody face ago this first degree murder charge and second degree endangering a child charge. he will appear before a judge coming up, tomorrow afternoon.

"eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter is live at penn presbyterian medical center where officer hartnett is recovering tonight, walt. >> reporter: another day brings another surgery for the wounded officer here, his mom, dad at his bedside right now as they have been for so many hours. meanwhile police and fbi still trying to answer the questions of whether or not the terrible a attack on this officer is part of a wider threat.

nearly four days after video shows the suspect ambushing and wounding three three-year old officer jesse hartnett, inside of his patrol car near 60th and spruce street, police commissioner richard ross told me investigators still are trying to determine if the alleged actions of 30 year-old edward archer, could be part of a wider threat against police. >> shots fired, shots fired, i'm bleeding helpful willly. >> i just got off the phone with the agent in charge from the fbi and give meehan update that was pretty much status quo but, you know, looking to put their hand on folks to talk to them. >> reporter: new concerns first raised saturday when officers near shooting scene were told by an anonymous informant that the threat to police, is not over, and that the the accused attacker archer was, part of a group that consists of three others. >> as a precaution, heavily armed swat teams are now clearly visible near the

walt, thank you. former philadelphia police commissioner charles ramsey has a new job. law enforcement veteran will serve as a public safety consultant for wilmington delaware. he will assist with violence reductions initiatives throughout that city. ramsey who retired as commissioner here in philadelphia last week served as a chairman on president obama's task force on 21st century policing. a store owner opens fire and stops an attempted robbery at miss jesse's stop and shop at 8:30 this morning on 12th and christian in south philadelphia. three men reportedly tried to rob the store at gunpoint. the owner shot and killed one suspect. police apprehended a second and a third is still at large. schools in the area were put on lock down as a precaution but was lifted about an hour later. bensalem police arrested a man they say is responsible for two carjacking incidents. most recent happened last night at 6:30 at wawa convenient store on route one. investigators say victim was sitting in her car when amir

saunders grabbed her door and opened it. he covered her mouth and told her to keep quiet but she for the back. was able to use her horn. police believe saunders is also responsible for a carjacking at the same wawa in december. overturn gas tanker closed the section of the route 130 in pennsauken to day. this was the scene just after the noon time hour. the hazmat crew is still on the scene at this hour clearing diesel fuel fluid from the roadway. there were no injuries reported. new jersey lawmakers have reached a deal to put a statewide referendum on the november ballot, it asked voters to say yes or no to two new casinos in the northern part of the the state. a atlantic city casino operators will have the first shot at the licenses. if approved, some of the gambling revenue would go to help redevelop atlantic city. power ball fever continues uncheck, take a look at this billboard from chopper three, that is no mistake, that is a $1.4 billion jackpot. ticket sales continue to be brisk, the drawing is

side of the arctic cold front after record warmth this weekend. temperatures are much, much colder. 3 degrees right now as we get a live look at center city philadelphia nice crystal clear skies with that canadian high pressure in place, still breezy, west wind at 12 miles an hour making it feel more like 24 degrees. winter coats, hats, and temperatures in the teens right now in the poconos, upper 20's in the lehigh valley down in the 30's, down the shore, temperature change over last 24 hours, as you might imagine it is quite dramatic. it is 25 degrees in philadelphia, from this time yesterday, down nearly 30 degrees, in atlantic city and also today we're contending with that wind making it feel colder. the especially gusting first half, still breezy, wind speed up to five, ten, 15 miles an hour. we are still seeing gusts up in the 20 miles an hour range and of course that is having an impact on the feels like temperature. feels like teens in the lehigh valley. feeling like single digits in the poconos currently feeling

like middle 20's down the shore. overnight tonight we will get a break from the blustery conditions, wind up around 10 miles an hour but not gusty wind. we will drop down to 26 degrees, clear to start and increasing cloud, late tonight we will start off with some sun tomorrow, cloud deck increases, becoming mostly cloud the in in the afternoon. wind pick up again. 44 degrees. yes, we have a chance of seeing late day rain/snow shower and then so far, of course, we have had no measurable snow in philadelphia we are tying for tenth latest for first measurable snowfall and we are nearing that mark for latest measurable snowfall ever, february 3rd in 1995. so, taking a look at storm scan three, no flakes to see right the now anywhere close to the delaware valley, just clear sky conditions but a future weather will show us a chance of the few snow showers moving in late day tomorrow. starting off with sun, cloud deck increasing in the afternoon and you do note that is white moving in purple as well as moving in the lehigh

valley. philadelphia could see a rain/snow mix in southern new jersey. this will be pretty quick and spot any nature late afternoon and into the evening hours and then we will clear up heading in to tomorrow night. as far as accumulations we could see an inch in the poconos, dusting up toward lehigh valley but really philadelphia and points south and east not expecting anything in the way of accumulation but we still could see flakes flying off by late day tomorrow and then by wednesday another dose of arctic air, 31 degrees, the high temperature, we will start off at 22 degrees. windy conditions once again, still breeze any to thursday. 38 degrees, the high temperature. as we look ahead toward next weekend, nice three day weekend for some of us, mild to start and getting colder by mlk day back down in the middle 30's. >> got it. >> it is coming. >> appreciate it, lauren. actor sean penn may have helped authority in the hunt for el chapo, crazy details at 5:30. also couples hoff been together for a while might not

bowie and for more check out cbs philly.com. actor sean penn may have helped bring town one of the world's most notorious drug kingpins when joachim el chapo guzman sat down with the anchor little did he know would it lead to his recapture. correspondent don champion reports on how it all went down. >> reporter: drug kingpin joachim, el chapo guzman is back in the same mexican prison he tunneled out of six months ago but his days there may be number. mexican authorities have begun the process of sending guzman to the united states to face charges. while his lawyers have already filed motions to fight extradition, a u.s. law enforcement source told cbs news that el chapo is expect to be in the u.s. within the next four to six weeks. the guzman was captured friday, after a violent shoot-out with mexican marines. he had been on the run since july, always managing to stay one step ahead of

investigators. his down fall may have been a meeting with actor sean penn in october. >> mexico's attorney general says that guzman reached out to producers, actors, because he wanted to make a by graph california film about himself, after actor caitlin cost steel brought penn and guzman together. pair were photographed during a secret meeting in the mexican jungle and authorities say that meeting helped them find el chapo's hide out. after years of denying he was in the drug trade guzman told penn in the rolling stone magazine saying i supply more heroin, cocaine and marijuana then anybody else in the world. those words, may come back to haunt guzman, if he eventually faces trial in the u.s. don champion for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". two of the world's richest businessman are putting their deep pockets behind a new technology that could change how cancer is detect. bill gates and amazon's jeff

bezos are key investors backing hundred million-dollar in funding for a company called grail. they are working to develop a blood test to detect many kind of cancer even before a patient begins showing symptoms or a tumor shows up on a scan. the it could be ready and available by 2019. on the cbs-3 healthwatch mammograms do most good later in life according to a government task force that today reheated its final recommendation that is women get screened every other year starting a at age 50. >> health reporter stephanie stahl is here with reaction, and mounting confusion and concerns over this. >> reporter: a lot of uproar about this one, guys. recommendations on mammograms are now all over the place. for years it was every year starting a at age 40 but u.s. preventive services task force says they are not necessary for women under the age of 50 and can be harmful but many doctors and patients disagree. >> it is just an incredible end. >> reporter: signifies end of treatment for breast cancer, a

happy day for diana, who was diagnosed after a routine mammograms at the age of 47. >> it is so very emotional, roller coaster. >> reporter: under renewed recommendations from the u.s. preventive task force diana would not have gotten a routine mammogram until she was 50. >> i wouldn't be standing here today. >> reporter: task force is continuing to recommend mammograms every other year for women age 50 to 74, the group says that screening can be effective for was machine in their 40's but over diagnosis a concern. >> benefits are smaller, the harms need to be carefully viewed and task force supports women having this information and making individualized and informed choices. >> reporter: recommendations come after the american cancer society said in october that women should start annual mammograms at age 45. >> i think it is dangerous and women's lives will be lost to breast cancer. >> reporter: doctor wise, director of breast health outreach at lankenau is among many doctors who oppose the new guidelines.
