. good morning, winter lovers, it is finally here, a chance of flurries later today. that is snow that you're seeing on storm scan3. when is the last time you saw that, right? katie has more on what to expect coming up. >> also, month after three year old brandon createo's body was found, police arrest the boy's father, we have the latest on the investigation. and president obama giving his final state of the union address tonight. the special guest from pennsylvania, that will be in attendance. good morning, it is tuesday, january 12th, i'm erika von tiehl. we want to get check with katie and meisha on the roads. snow-free for now, but later today finally see some snowflakes, ladies, what do you think? >> good thing is, it will not

affect our morning commute too much. that's great news. right now still very quiet. roadways are dry, construction, so katie, felt little chilly this morning. >> absolutely very cold start to the morning for us, but i have to tell you, i don't think even though we will see snow later in the day that it will even have major impact on your p.m. drive either, guys. yet these will be the first snowflakes we finally see this season, however, they're not going to be expected to amount to very much. if anything at all on the actual ground. but, that said, you're finally going to get the wintery atmosphere so many of have you been looking forward tonight so we start things off, live look on "skycam 3", quick peak at center city overlooking the ben franklin bridge, and all completely clear right now, few clouds beginning to bill owe in, but not going to find any visibility problems here today, certainly any clouds that are out there are nice and high in the atmosphere. storm scan, going there next, looking at the radar here in the tri-state sweep, to problems yet, again, put things into motion, i zoom out one more time, little more snow on the map here rolling

just south of i80, in toward those central pennsylvania mountains, so into the allegheny's, you're finding some of the snow. i was just looking at snowfall intensity rates, one of the bark is worse than the bite kinds of issues, where we're looking at couple hundreds of an inch per hour coming down right now, really isn't amounting to much. this front coming along, yes, definitely will reinforce the cold, temperatures after all are all below freezing, teens, 20's, cold enough to produce snow once precipitation actually gets here, certainly is out toward happy valley and pittsburgh, as well. but, there is not a lot of moisture to work with. it looks like by the time this actually gets here our temperatures should be into the low 40's, probably even find few raindrops out there, as women. further inland, far northwest that you travel, it will likely be strictly snow. but we're not talking about a lot. you might end up with a tent of an inch or so at most out of this. but that's really it. in the meantime, low 40's, the expectation for daytime highs, wind starts to kick in, as

a new jersey bill to raise the smoking age from 19 to 21 heads to the governor's desk. the assembly voted yesterday to approve the measure t now heads once again to governor christie's desk. he's not say whether or not he'll sign t that bill would fine retailers for selling it to anyone under 21, however, listen to this, it would not punish under age smokers. if signed, new jersey would be the second state behind wine

to raise the smoking age to 21. a government task force has finally recommendations on mammograms, saying that they do the most good later in life. the us preventive service task force says women should get mammogram to check for breast cancer every other year starting at age 50. the task force says, women between ages 40 and 49, don't get as much benefit from screenings as older women. those between 40 and 49, are urged to make a decision for themselves after weighing the pros and cons. well, have you ever found yourself reaching for your cell phone thinking it was ringing or vibrating only to find false alarm, nothing happened? then you may be fredricksburg what's called phantom vibration syndrome. a survey of student at the georgia institute of technology found 90% of them said they felt the phantom phone sensations. psychology cents say the condition is not serious, nothing to worry about, folks, unless it keeps people from interacting with other people.

strangers. >> winter lovers, at least it will be prep, right, snow coming now. >> absolutely, finally get some flakes out there to i guess curb the appetite. >> it has been a warm winter. >> has been a warm winter. even though quite a few systems went through, all been rain. all been what we've seen. at least we'll start to see the tides turn so to speak here, finally get some snow, it won't amount to very much. so evening commute should be okay? >> i think so, yes. you know, this is one of the situations, look at storm scan, looks like it is pounding down snow across western pa. but it is really falling lightly right now. the rainfall -- no, snowfall, so used to saying rain, i know, snowfall intensity here is for the most part not much more than couple of hundreds after inch, that tells you something it, real say bark worse than the bite situation here, but all part of larger effect on our atmosphere, and weather pattern being that the cold air reinforcements are many coming along. so that's really what this is

all b yes, you'll see some snow. probably our big headliner just because we haven't seen any snow here in philadelphia yet this season. but the cold that comes in its wake, that's going to be more lasting, you know, phenomenon we end up with here. so let's time this thing out, shall we? really up toward the poconos, might start to see some flakes as early as after lunchtime or so, but give it until the time the kids are getting out of school, 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., for any other rain or snow showers, yes, could be some rain that starts this off. you can even see that giving you a hint in the future weather model, eventually temperatures start to drop off, sun goes down, will see it turn over to snow. not talking about much. it probably is only going to be tent of an inch or so, perhaps you accumulate up to an inch max in the poconos, and that's it. then we see this scoot out of here, and the cold air just settles back in little lake enhanced snow coming along with that, as well, per the future wet model, see high pressure regain control for little while thursday leading into friday. temperature changes as of this

snowflakes. >> first snowfall of the season but it is not going to be amounting to very much here in the delaware valley, simply, because moisture starved frontal boundary, doesn't stick around for very long, and the grounds is a little too warm, believe it or not, for that snow to really have a chance to stick. one place it is stick something clearly up here in the poconos, at jack frost big boulder, still pumping out the man-made snow. who could blame them? the chill is back. they've been waiting, very patiently, i might add, for there to be enough cold to actually produce the snow, and have it stick. so, finally, looking and feeling like winter out on storm scan3, clouds starting to nudge in, but we are going to be waiting few more hours here before any flakes start to fly. meantime, temperatures actually have chance to climb all the way to the 40's, some of you probably start off with raindrops before it turns over to snowflakes. how much snow are we actually talking? well, not heck of a lot, guys a look at four of the main computer models, even they're only picking up tent after inch of snow in philadelphia. because it has hard time even sticking don't expect this to amount to very much. forty-four should be our
